mad Technophobia ain't entirely irrational, kid. Just ask Stark. His reliance on it nearly killed him when an alien race uploaded his network with a virus. It did kill SHIELD, which shouldn't have been so god damned reliant on tech anyways. stare

First off; I have been engaged currently in research on the nature of the Nexus. The very existance of this place has implications. FanTAStic ones. Frightening ones. I seek to understand why it exists and how it exists.
There is a bar floating in the middle of nothing. In it are some of the greatest people from a vast number of universes. There has to be a purpose.
Secondly; I have been preparing for the last two weeks for experiments in Inter-Nexus time travel. I do not seek to change past history, or conquer the future. I am looking for answers to old mysteries. Understanding of what the mysterious "power rings" that appeared last year actually were. Why they were sent here.
Thirdly; I did not dose anyone here with experimentation without their knowledge or consent. Once, a year and a half ago as time judges here, my mind had it's personality inverted. Great ill came of that, and I've tried to make up for it since.
Now...as to why I lied to you, Hellboy...

A common form of therapy from the 26th century was known as "Agression Therapy." The theory was to take something a person had issues with, give it form and substance, and coerce them into conquering it.
I had success in the past using this with Shrinking Violet; she developed a crippling phobia that was causing her mental trauma when she attempted to shrink. I took us both to a planet of giants, where we were placed in peril. She saved both our lives, and in the process, conquered her fear.
My hope was to replicate the success here. My time-travel data gathering has had an adverse affect on Hellboy's psyche, and it was compounded by the fact that he experiences the side-effects more acutely then anyone else who visits here. I projected that, if his paranoia and fear were allowed to compound while my devices continued working here, that he would eventually destroy them. And that was the positive possibility.
The other was that his mental state, which affects the amount of arcane energy he leaks, would cause him to react FURTHER with the devices, to the point of putting himself in peril.
I thought that if I stoked the fire of his fears enough, made myself the target, that he would be able to fight through them. I miscalculated two variables: Other people in the bar, and my own inability to take a punch through a glass bar.
