But she wasn't so sure. After all, both she and Sevilin had run away too. Of course their lives had been hell from the day they were both born. Piper had dealt with her own tortures, she wasn't disputing that, they just weren't the same sort that she and Sevilin had faced. "He doesn't really have to worry about that aspect of it, he fits in just fine. All he has to do is look in the mirror and know he belongs with us and if that doesn't do it, well he got my stubborness and finesse with the horses and his father's charm and power." It would be mental torture if any of her children ever cut and ran and then she and Sevilin would be out scouring to find them too. "No he wouldn't go that far. Besides, anywhere he goes he'd take Destyny and I can call her back at a moment's notice."
"Was my friend. Times have changed though not that much. You're still my best friend and always will be." He could teach Kelligrin to walk and them maybe the kid wouldn't cry nearly so much. Though he was still pleased that his parents were dropping the baby off on the D'vinn's for at least tonight. He had plans that he was quickly going to convince Malikhai to join him in. "Oh don't you worry, Malikhai. I'll find something to battle you with even if I have to borrow my father's polearm. Meet you down there in ten minutes or so." Thus off with him to find something other than that damn staff his father was so adamant he use. Stupid thing didn't even have a real blade on it.
Fuschia eyes widened once again and she leaned in closer, all her attention on the Tier'dal before her. "Eighteen planes? One day I'm going to go visit them all too. Once Daddy lets me travel." Thus lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, "D'you think he would if I did better at math?" Faatallon wrinkled her nose and made a play at biting his finger the way she'd done since she was little and he'd started that little habit. "Don't worry Daddy. I won't do anything that you wouldn't approve of." Absolutely Daddy's little girl. "Whoever gets my attention has to be like you anyway. Most of the boys are still silly. It gets on my nerves sometimes."

A small laugh.
"Is that so. can you face the plane of Hate? resist the flames of Fire, or Flame? survive the depths of Water, or the rigors of Valor? can you face Fear? Disease?"
then a soft smile.
"Would you like to see a plane in a state of perpetual Storm? maybe the deserts of Earth are more your fancy. though I imagine you would enjoy the planes of Tranquility and Knowledge. But I wouldn't go into War without being ready to defend yourself. or Nightmare if your reveries are bad."
a grin.
"Like I said, most those planes were in armies, in grand battles of conquest and such. we faced the Avatars of the Gods...and their minions of great power. many of the items in the Vault are from those places. But Andal was alright, so was the plane I met Piper on...and Norrath is my homeplane. there's always a softspot for that."

"Which is why you simply shouldn't worry about it happening. Just need to sit back and enjoy the wonderful yet annoying situations of parenthood. I don't think he'd run off, he's just fine. Just give him his little bit of space but make sure you can keep him in some sort of sense range. Eventually he'll come around. It's a normal teenage thing."
"Still on top am I? Good to know, or else I may have to hurt a few people to regain my status." After all, he didn't go to school like his friend did, though he didn't lack in social exposure because of that either...he just had to make sure he didn't lose his closest friend to someone else. "Right right, just don't get yourself in trouble for stealing things, ten minutes." Thus heading down to the arena, giddy as a three year old with a fresh out of the oven cookie.
So it was true then, girls really did look for someone like thier father. Huh, that was oddly comforting to a point now wasn't it? Though he chuckled and shook his head at her and her antics as well, "Good to know you're got a smart head on those shoulders of yours then. I won't have to worry or go about maiming too many a seeking boy now will I?" Looking over to Malik though as he went about layings out. "Honestly, are we trying to deter the child with such things or encourage her with the danger?"

Piper always had the insight she needed. The amazing thing about the two women's friendship was their ability to gently but firmly point things out. Of course that hadn't always been the way they taught each other lessons. Not so long ago they'd been beating things into each other. Over time as they themselves had grown and matured, they'd learned the art of feminine intervention. Lovely thing actually, dealt more with loving action than words and it was always carefully planned out. A prime example would be Piper taking Kelligrin from her. Zahara poured herself a glass of wine and silently mused while Piper was hitting her point home. "Just a tug on the leash when he goes too far. I can handle that." Resettling herself on the couch, she quirked an eyebrow, "So, are you choosing to be mad at Malik for a while or have you already forgiven him and moved onto to merely being irritated because he chose first of all to possibly put your son in unspeakable danger and did so without consulting you first?"
"No worries, Khai. I'm good at what I do." He knew where his father kept his weapons when he was in various houses. The rack by the door at home, and leaning in a corner at Twilight. Glancing over the polearm carefully, he lifted his hand and searched for any runic locks or booby traps his crafty father might have placed on it. Finding none, he frowned for a moment but shrugged and reached out, picking up the still slightly heavy weapon. He would much rather have his own but his staff was not going to hold up against Malikhai's enchanted blade.
Setting his own staff down, he used his magic to make the illusion of his father's appear. No, it wouldn't fool the adults for long, but if anyone casually glanced they wouldn't raise the alarm either. And down to the arena with him. He stretched his lithe body and gave the polearm a few experimental swings, dipping it first to the left and then to the right. "Told you I'd get it. Now then, are you ready or do you want a warm-up first." First rule of combat, know your weapon. Malikhai had just received that blade and Zykariel wasn't opposed to watching him move with it before fighting him.
Lyssthyren's eyes flashed and she stood up and pointed to her chest. "I'm an Inthara. I can withstand anything, face anything, do anything. I don't need anyone to rescue me either!" She settled back down for a moment and cocked her head, "All those planes. I bet Daddy would let me go if I did better on my math. Is that really all it takes? Just math?" She was quiet a moment and then snuck a covert gaze to her father. "Daddy doesn't like Andal. I don't think he'd let me go there."
Faatallon just smiled and nodded her head, choosing not to say anything at all. She wasn't above teasing the boys and she knew the rock was his way of telling her that he wasn't pleased. That was alright, she'd wait for him to come around. But Daddy didn't need to know about that and she didn't want to see her boyfriend maimed. Moving closer, she snuggled against him just like she'd been doing for years and watched her sister's animation with her uncle.

"Is that so. You know, I do have methods of testing that claim that I bet your father would let me use."
a slight chuckle at her and a shake of his head.
"All you need is math, and magic. or the spells of someone that knows already how to get there. and maybe he would. that does give a bit more incentive to learn your math, now doesn't it."

"Yes all about leash tugging, and eventually they start calming down or they get themselves hurt and realize that they still have a little bit of growing up and learning to do before they're ready for some thing." But leaning back in her chair, tapping her fingers against her collar and making the little arrows clink and sway back and forth lightly. "I think I want to see what he's going to do first. Afrer all, he knows I'm upset. We had a little chat this morning, but that aside, he can feel that I'm still irriated. Guess it depends on Malikhai too, what he chose, but there's still the point that he didn't tell me. I hate it when he does that..."
He was quite surprised when his friend came back down, bearing his own father's weapon. "Dude...are you sure that thing doesn't have some sort of rune thing that activates when combat ensues? I really really don't want to go through that kind of thing." He had learned already, that runes were not fun things at all. But he drew his sword, watching it jump a little with cold blue flames and he fell into stance with a smirk. "Warm ups are for baby elves." He was quite confident in his sword ability...though he would admit that the blade was a little heavier than he was used to.
He rolled his eyes. Children, they talked like you weren't even around sometimes. "Bribing the children Malik? You know that only works after so long." Though a blink and a look in no particular direction at certain shiftings and such in the air. He may not booby trap his weapon, but he knew when someone else had it. Didn't take much on his part to covertly feel things out through what runics he did have around this place. The boy had his pole arm...now what was he doing with that?

"It's only a little bribe...and you can always send her someplace safe..like the plane of Growth. personally, I've never been there. Tier'dal aren't exactly welcome in Tunare's place. but a drow might be if they really behave. rumor is it's a lush rolling surface, full or horses and trees and woodland animals."
a light raise of the eyebrow. he knew sevilin's 'runic' look. someone was doing someting or touching something they weren't supposed to.
"Five to one says Malikhai and Zykariel are about to have a duel."

She nodded, "And they generally interpret bond feelings and expressions as well." A shake of her head and she tossed back another glass of wine. Technically, she was at her limit. Three glasses and she'd only be almost tipsy. If she went too far...well Sevilin would not be pleased. But at this point he owed her so she didn't care. "Malikhai's a smart boy, he won't do anything to cause himself agony, Piper. Your son actually uses the brain he was blessed with." A roll of her eyes at that one and she frowned. She was getting increased giddiness from the girls and something along the lines of battle ready from Zykariel. "I'm getting the feeling that there's about to be trouble. It's quiet...too quiet.."
Zykariel chuckled and stepped into the middle of the arena. He didn't have to worry about bulky suits of armor or anything like that. Sure as he'd grown up he'd begun wearing chainmail. Damn chainmail, it was itchy and heavy and he'd hated it at first. Now he hardly even felt it's presence. One thing of Dad's that he actually appreciated. Holding the polearm in the middle, he quirked an eyebrow then his hand. "Bring it, blue boy." Thus he began to circle, keeping an eye on his opponent. They never played around when it came to challenge time. It was always serious.
Lyssthyren was becoming more and more excited the longer this conversation ensued. "Really?! I could be a planes traveler?" She got the faraway look like she was imagining herself in another place and time and then grinned. "Daddy will do anything for me. It's Mama that will stop him." Faatallon sat up straight and frowned, then lifted her finger into the air before she paused. Technically she wasn't supposed to do anything. "Daddy? Did I just feel...?"

"Finishing off another glass of her own, she gave a smile and a nod. "Yes I suppose you're right. Then again, teenage boys usually make rash impulsive stupid decisions." A pause, blink and raise of an eyebrow, "Oh wait, they never grow out of that." Shaking her head lightly but with a chuckle. "Quiet...the too quiet equals bad quiet scenario. Does that mean we should go inquire or just hope for the best?"
"Blue boy? Sure thing, girly eyes." Smirking at that one, they were always good at picking at each other and they had just gotten better in thier older years. Taking to circle with his friend, both watching for signs of forward movement and the like. Battling even in jest such as this, they were precise and careful, almost as if for real. Though a calculated moment and she struck out at his friend, lunging forward with his blade raised eye level to himself. They always liked to start bold and brash.
Raising a hand he lowered his eldest daughter's own. She had decided that she wanted to be a rune mage too, thus he had been putting her through more intense training than her siblings, and she was thus also more sensitive to runic things happening around her. "Yes you did. But no worries about it, nothing to fret over or react to." And then turning a look over to Malik and his other daughter.
"You're just trying to make her bounce with glee aren't you?" Which the child was practically doing now, wasn't she? "Hey now, I don't let you do everything, you don't have me that suckered." Well..she probably really did, but he wouldn't admit that to anyone. But then a nod. "Odds are in your favor, boy snatched my polearm...is it wise to let him play with his new toy against someone who isn't skilled in avoiding the possibilites said new toy can do?"

Malik gave a bit of a smirk to sevilin..before getting a thoughtful look.
"no. but it's a good idea anyway. the burned hand teaches best. Malikhai studies, and keep his powers and skills at a level that only intense study can do. your son has a great natural talent...but I think him getting bested or even getting a very close test in ability, by a blade that without studying like he should, he couldn't effectively use, might get him to think involving himself in other studies isn't such a bad thing."
then a look at the girl...and another thought came to him.
"Sevilin....do you feel like being incredibly evil to our sons right now?"

Zahara joined in the laughter for a moment and nodded, "That is true. When you get a husband, you really get a very large boy." Sevilin still did those sorts of things. Like locking himself in his training room and emerging covered in blood. Stupid? Why yes. Impulsive and rash? Absolutely. Hated it? Of course she did. Pausing for a moment, she tapped a nail against the crystal glass and then paused, "I believe we should entertain our lovely boys and let them get themselves into more trouble. We both have runic bonds so we can interfere before things go horrible."
"The women love them far more than your mirror looking ones. Those are just creepy." He gave a grin as his friend struck and lunged forward with the polearm raised to greet the sword as it rained down on one side of the weapon. "Close, but not enough." Spinning for a moment, he swiped the polearm across Malikhai's stomach and then slipped it up to his sword hand.
She frowned for a moment as she was stopped and then sat back. "Does he get to just get away with that? That's entirely unfair, Daddy. And you know about it, too." Though she gave a smile to her uncle as he spoke of being evil to her brother. "Oh please do it! He deserves it. They both do."

"Ah, teaching lessons without having to get off our butts, lovely thing indeed it is." Refilling her glass and taking a drink from it, though leaning forward in her chair as Dhairiss had toddled over with one of the toys, apparently handing it to her to hold on to for later before he toddled back to Kelligrin...and duly tried to pick up the baby by slipping his little arms around the baby's little middle. "Careful now," triple colored eyes flitting back to Zahara, "Now here's the question...which set of boys is the bigger trouble?"
"Creepy? Says you. Every woman likes shiny silver and that's what they get when they look me in the eyes." Banter back and forth was always a duel must. There was just nothing good about it unless it was present and accounted for. But mind of the battle at hand for a moment, arching his back to avoid the swipe at his stomach and a toss of his blade to hsi less favored hand, faultering a little under the weight of the blade before spinning to meet his friend's own strike. "Same goes for you. Polearms can be so tedious at times, both hands occupied and all."
"My dear, he only thinks that he's getting away with it. He'll learn soon enough through some other method that I engineer, that you do not take another man's weapon just because it's there and especially if there is no due reason to. Besides...runes will start to drain him soon enough." Sure enough...Sevilin had that thing runed and it reacted when hands were laid on it. Blinking over at Malik then even as he pet through his daughter's hair reassuringly. "I suppose, one does learn best from one's mistakes." Raise of an eyebrow. "Incredibly evil in what manner of your design and thought?"

"well...your daughter here might want to see another plane...and I have specially altered the arena for specific purposes in reguards to my son. so why don't we all head down there, your daughter can go play with...and I give the entire arena area an illusionary but no less effecting planar remodel? your daughter gets to see another plane, both our boys get a shock and a major enviroment rehaul, and we get to be amused at them trying to adapt."

"Isn't it though?" She watched the boys for a moment with a smile and shook her head. "He'll learn to walk much faster with all the help that he's being given." Her own son squealed for a moment and moved his hands, twisting to try to stand up though it didn't work too well. "Malik and Sevilin have more at their disposal but Malikhai and Zykariel are quite creative." Walking over to her son, she sat down by the boys and took his hands then lifted him up before pressing a kiss to Dhairiss's cheek. "Thank you baby."
"Ah but no, blue boy. They like steel and those are your father's. Silver is worth nothing to us but steel and mythril, well they are much better." Chuckling for a moment as he switched his hands. "Careful Malikhai, don't forget your other hand is much better." Flipping the polearm in hand and spinning it before swiping at him again. He took a step and moved in on him once again, not giving him a moment to recover between strikes. "Light on your feet, Malikhai. That's a trait the ladies love."
Faatallon was just excited. Her big brother was about to fall on his a** and she was going to get to watch! "Come on Daddy, let him do it. I want to see the new plane too and you're always telling us that Inthara's have to be ready for anything. It'll be fun!" Lyssthyren popped back up from her brief reverie and grinned. "Yeah! Sounds like fun. Can we Daddy? Please?" Thus coming over and taking up the other side, leaning against him and fluttering her eyelashes.

It was cute it really was. One little elf trying to pull another little elf up to try and get him to walk so they could play better. The little Kieran-esque elf giving a giggle and a squeal at getting a kiss, taking to leaning against her shoulder since she was in the floor. "Still a hard call I would say...and I would hate to think what they could do if they all joined forces...we may be in for a world of trouble then." A smirk. "And enjoy your time with that babe, because remember you're not leaving here with him. Or any of the others if you don't want to have them either. Think about it...the whole house to just you and Sevilin."
"Have you seen a proper piece of mithril lately?" Pointing to his eyes for a moment before a smirk. "You must be using the cheap stuff." Backsteppping as the spin and swipe from his friend before stepping right back up and in to go further toe to toe with his friend. Had to keep up on this since Zykariel seemed to be staying on him. Good, he liked a challenge. "Oh I have no worry for that, light on my feet is what I do well. Even with armor...unlike someone else." After all, by this point, Malikhai had himself a full set of armor and was apt at working in it. Dropping down he strifed around his friend's swipe, rolling and getting back up to knock him in the back with his sword hilt, then turning to make sure the flat of his blade would defend against an oncoming strike.
Sevilin seemed to catch his daughters' enthusiasm...or at least as well as Sevilin could catch such an emotion. One for seeing something new and the other for wanting to of course annoy her brother. Sibling rivalry, it was amusing when you all weren't trying to literally kill each other. And look at those girls, trying those little things that they thought won him over. Well in this case it was working and well...it would be humbling perhaps for his own son. Thus setting his oldest to the floor, he got himself up and gave Malik a smirk. "Sounds like a fantastic idea to me. Let's go." Thus downstairs with them.
