"Of course we can."
though taking a moment to glance at Zahara and shake his head lightly. Guess he should get Sevilin a place to sleep around here, as he'd probably be doing the couch thing like he was going to be he was sure if his son grabbed a certain blade that was offered. Of course once he was done with his food and drink, he got himself up, and patted his son on the back.
"When your finished, you can meet me in the living room. we'll talk there if you prefer. unless there's someplace else you had in mind."

He was of course already there when Zahara showed up...because well, translocation was better, the child just didn't like the tingly feeling that came with the territory. Following her in he merely leaned himself against the wall. "Don't drink too much." Smirk and a cross of his arms at her, hell he knew what she was going to do anyway.
Oh look who was here, her ranting buddy. Despite what her son would choose, it could be an extra long rant session now couldn't it. But finishing up her breakfast, she picked up Dhairiss and passed a look over her men...what in the world was she going to do with them...before walking over to Zahara. "Sounds like a very very good plan."
He turned a look to Zahara, well where Zahara was another Inthara usually followed...though he knew his friends, whom were rather more liek family anyway, were at school though. But a nod to his father as Malik went off and Malikhai duly snarfed the rest of his food and finished his milk before getting up and trotting off after his father. "So...about sword things..." He was still feeling apprehensive about this...after all, how did you say certain things to your father when you weren't sure how he would take them? Afraid? Perhaps a little.

Malik smiled lightly at his son, and drank froma glass of wine...before pouring a small one for his son and handing it over.
"don't let your mother know. and yes, about sword things. I told you that you had all the time you wanted to decide. I know it's not an easy choice to make."
though a careful look said he was trying to think of a way to say something that he wasn't sure was going to be received well. Incidentally, it was the same way he looked when he was younger and trying to lie.

Zahara shifted Kelligrin in her hold and shot her husband a look that told him not to mess with her right now. She was absolutely not in the mood. She headed out of the dining room and into another room that they'd chosen as their retreat when they needed to rant about the newest escapade their children or men got into. Taking a seat, she set Kelligrin on her knees and pulled off his cloak then plopped him on the floor. Pulling out a bag, she spread a blanket and threw some toys on it. "Go play, baby." Thus turning to Piper, she shook her head. "Order up the wyne and then tell me what you know. All I know is Sevilin is involved and I'm going to be pissed."

He blinked a moment as he was indeed handed a small glass of wine, grinning lightly. Hey he liked it when he was allowed such things...first sword, then no lessons, now wine...seemed it was starting to be a good day...or at least he was hoping it was going to be a good day. "Not supposed to be easy, I knew that." Plopping down in a seat across from his father he took a drink from his glass a moment as he ran things through his head. Hm, that was rather strong wasn't it?
"Okay so..." Shaky way to start but he was trying to get the thing in his head to come out of his mouth...not as easy as one may think. "I was taught...that the skill of a warrior is not measured by the tricks up his sleeves, or by the weapon in his hand. He is measured by the skill he can learn and present, his ingenuity, and his will to stand his ground." Tapping his fingers on his glass a moment. "I don't need a sword that can grow on it's own and possibly without me keeping up. And Malvolence is your sword. I mean, I get that you'd want to do the heirloom thing, but at the same time...some things are meant to stay with some people and never go to others." His pirate hat from when he was a child for instance...that was his, and no he did not want his little brother playing with it. Probably silly to adults but it was simple for children and teenagers to claim such things. "Malvolence is yours and it would always be yours, never mine."
Giving a sigh, "That said...I also don't want something that you would give just anyone, and that would be vault things. You pass those out like treats, and if you are offering me something, I don't want it to be something that has little value other than it being enchanted or something of the like. So...I can have a blade that means something, that my father has handled and has indeed once belonged to him, and has a good kick behind it but won't leave me in the dust...I'd like Ebony." Aw, he'd made himself a little speech...punctuating it by draining the rest of his glass.
Was no chore to get a serf to bring them both bottle of wine and glasses as they settled down in another room, setting children on the floor to play together. Dhairiss may be older but he still knew well enough to be gentle with Kelligrin. Pouring her and her friend a glass, she handed it over and then leaned back in her chair, giving a sigh and a tug at her collar. "So, Malikhai wants a sword, you've been hearing about it for weeks. Malik and I decided that it was time for him to have one of his own...though Malik took things into his own hands. And it seemed he'd started doing so years ago with such future plans as this in mind. So apparently our husbands have been spending time doing things with swords...mainly giving Ebony, Malvolence's powers. Now here's the good point...not only does Malik offer my eldest son Ebony, but then offers him something from the vault...or Malvolence itself. Oh and before I forget...he didn't tell me a damn thing about any of it." Ah venting.

Zahara monitored the boys' playing for a few moments and then looked back at Piper raising an eyebrow as she took the glass from the serf. Taking a sip, she took a moment to process everything Piper said and then frowned. "He offered Malvolence? Is he crazy? And mine was an accomplice." She hated that damn sword. It gave Malik carte blanche to muck around in everyone else's lives and heads and she could only imagine what Malikhai would do with it. "The worst part of it is he didn't tell you, just like Sevilin didn't tell me that Malik was draining his runic energy to do exactly what he didn't tell you he was doing." She sighed and shook her head, "So, banishing Malik to the couch for the next few months? I would. Although he does get a few points for the idea of Ebony which is baby Malvolence. I think Malikhai could probably handle that one. It is minus the whole blood sucking and controlling part right?"

"fine speech."
A slight chuckle and nod.
"Malvolence is a blade mastered by few, and has consumed many. and I can only imagine how many times it's voice has whispered to you in effort to snare a new bearer. Malvolence is my sword, and I offered it to you as a father would a son. but I know the price. it is not one I would wish to anyone. But I also didn't want you to feel entirely pressured into a weapon you may not have been pleased with."
Leaning back a bit.
"You made a fine choice. a choice based on yourself, and not on others. I know you have often sought to follow in the footsteps I leave behind me, but there are times when your own heart needs to be stronger. You can't live in my shadow always. and this is a step out of that shadow. I am quite pleased with your choice."
So Malik got himself up, and snapped his fingers to a servant, that came and went quickly bringing back Ebony in it's sheath. He walked over to his son, and held it out in his palms.
"Ebony has found it's true master, as Malvolence found long ago. May it serve you well, my son."

"He said he didn't want to make Malikhai feel as if he was being pushed into choosing a sword that he wasn't going to be happy with and thusly resent things...you know the way Malik thinks. Not that Malik wanted him to take the sword, and of course he also wants to keep it for himself, but you know him when it comes to his son." Waving a hand dismissively...despite how Malik had rationalized it and such, she was still upset that she hadn't been told beforehand...even if it would of made a fight of the matter and Malik probably doing it anyway. A slight shrug. "I don't know if I want to punish myself by banishing him to the couch...though last night, I took reverie in the nursery...he didn't get much of his own even though he had our bed. But you're right...at least there was a kind of compromise." Sighing lightly. "Maybe I just don't like the fact that he's getting his own sword..."
Slight smile as the first thing out of his father's mouth was a compliment on the boy's own thoughts. It was nice to know that he wasn't just saying stupid things or thinking childish thoughts. But he merely sat and listened, as any child would who was trying to impress at the moment. He wouldn't admit it, but he had indeed heard the blade...be it through a parent or his own telepathy picking up on it...mostly when he was younger.
Interesting though to hear his father's thought on how his son emulated him and still did these days in most cases. It was a sort of encouragement as well, telling the boy that it was okay to have a structure by which to model but to make that your own as well. Yup, good day indeed. Though he did scramble to his feet as his father had gotten up, setting aside his own glass, and more or less trying not to grin like an idiot when his father had brought the sword, well his sword now. Containing his excitment...squealing with joy like a three year old on the inside though...as he took the sword from his father's hand, first securing it to his belt before drawing the blade, giving an appreciative look over it before sheathing it at his hip once more and turning a look up to his father, giving a nod and a smile. "Thanks dad." Yup, squealing like the three year old.

"He has his moments that he truly does think of his son's wellbeing over the fact that Malikhai is like a prince. I think sometimes his attempts at getting him ready to rule the Twilight lands, he doesn't think about his age and what he can handle." She shook her head and took another sip of her wine. "You've never liked him having a sword, Piper, but he's too much like his father. His sword is everything to him. At the very least you have some control still. You are still his mother and he's not an adult yet." Laughing softly, she drained half of her wine. "I know I'm not up to punishing myself. And truthfully, Sevilin didn't have much of a choice. He works for Malik and by telling him no, he's taking food out of my babies' mouths. Lesser of the two evils I suppose."
Kelligrin got tired of playing with the toys his mother had thrown down to him and crawled over to Dhairiss then plopped a hand on the bigger child's shoulder and used it to pull himself up. He teetered for a moment then stepped back hesitatntly before pitching forward and smacking his head into Dhairiss'.

"You tryin' to walk?" He remembered learning to walk himself. Mommy, daddy, and big brother all helped him, Keely too. Though the happy didn't last long as the little elf toppled forward and they ended up bonking heads...like any good toddler, he blinked and processed a moment...before deciding that it hurt enough to make noise. Thus crying ensued.
"Technically, he is a prince as is the other, and Malik himself as well...royal formalities and such that I've so wonderfully brought with me." Oh hear the sarcasm on that one, but she merely sipped her wine a moment before a smile. "But you're right, it's a wonderful thing to watch how Malik treats the children. He's not all brooding and evil like most people tend to think." Not that they had that problem too much anymore, what with the surface now avaliable for the most part and such. "He's still too big to hold though, I'm lucky if I get a hug and kiss these days." Giving a nod then, "Hopefully though, things aren't going to be horrible...and well, I'm sure Sevilin expressed his concerns about it all to Malik...he always has before." Blinking then at the sudden crying from both little elves and looking over to see Kelligrin more or less in Dhairiss' lap. "Aw what happened dears?" Leaning over to comfort her own boy as Zahara would tend to her own.

"Yes, very true, the lucky boys." She finished off her wine and poured a bit more into the glass then toasted the air. "Kudos to Malik for gentling down after having his children. And as much as I hate to agree with you, I suppose I have to concedet that much." A wistful smile tilted her lips and she nodded, "Zykariel's the same way. He seems to be at odds with Sevilin every other day now. I wish those two were more like Malik and Malikhai sometimes." Amazing how differently those two had grown up, yet they'd stayed best friends. Reaching over, she covered her friend's hand. "No worries. Malikhai is not a foolish boy and he wants to please his father but not at the price of his own life. He'll think it through and make a good choice, even if he plays it safe and avoids the power."
The crying got both of their attentions and she frowned. Poor Kelligrin, trying so hard to walk like everybody else but he just couldn't get the hang of it. She knew how upset Piper got when her children cried too. She refused to make her babies cry for food and such. She scooped up hers who immediately buried his head in her shoulder and she pressed to his cheek then settled on the floor with him and took his hands to help him stand.
Kelligrin was not pleased at all and he didn't seem to want be soothed either as he continued to cry and reached for her, getting more and more fussy as his cries turned into wails.

A slight chuckle.
"You're welcome. no go running off like I know you want to so you can show off your blade to your mother and your friends and the like."
Glancing at Sevilin.
"So...you think you'll be staying here, or going home? after all the women folk are more than likely berating us as we speak here..."

Dhairiss pulled himself up using his mother's wrist, toddling to her before the pick me up gesture and thus being so then settled on her lap where he got his cuddles and his crying eased quite quickly...D'vinn children simply didn't cry. Not because they were taught not to, but because they never had a reason to. Aside from gettting hurt or upset of course. Which wasn't often.
"Sometimes it just takes time for good things to happen, which is what's so great about being an elf. We have that time to see those things and it's absolutely wonderful. For example...I wanted children. If you count all the time up, it took me twenty some odd years to get the first, and then another ten to get the second." Not a pleasant decade for Malik and Piper, what with all the trying and continual disappointment for ten years before lo and behold, Dhairiss. Picking up her son, she took to soothing him easily enough and watching Zahara. "He sure has been fussy lately...seems everytime we see him he's in sniffles or tears. Has he been well?"
And license to be a kid! Thus off with him...mostly for now just to strut and the like...after all, all his friends were in school right now. Though he supposed showing mom was a good idea, she always played to his excitment and well...moms gave hugs and stuff and personally he thought himself not big enough to give up mom hugs and such yet. Though he didn't have to admit that to anyone and thus acted like any teenage boy would about mom kissing him and such in public. Thusly on to finding mom, poking his head in the room. Bleh, crying babies.
Sevilin turned his glance up to Malik, having been rather silently watching the little sword exchange happening from his spot on the wall. Pushing over it, he walked over to the Tier'dal. "I think she's still deciding if I've done something atrociuous or not...you look like you didn't get a good night...I take it Piper wasn't pleased at all." Not that that was a msystery, they both knew how she was going to react and then drag Zahara into it. "They have wine, I'm sure they're enjoying listing our crimes to each other so they can give us dirty looks later. But it seems your boy is smarter for his age than he lets on."

"And everything works out for all involved." Bouncing and soothing the crying child, she pet through his hair and spoke to him softly in drow. It took her a good ten minutes to get calmed down and she cradled his head, pressing it to her shoulder. "No...he hasn't been getting his reverie lately like he needs and I think he senses the tension in the house and it upsets him. He's very sensitive to those sorts of things." Dropping kisses on his cheeks and forehead, she waited for his smile and then cuddled him again. "Clingy too. More so than any of my others. I don't know what to do. Sevilin and I are at our wit's end and I haven't had time with him since Kelli was born." She paused for a moment and then frowned, "Do you think maybe he's upset that he's the smallest and can't do everything his siblings can?"

"Not in the least. first it was because I didn't tell her, and then it was because of the reason why I didn't tell her. she took reverie in the nursery last night."
A nod and a slight grin.
"He keeps up with his studies and regulates himself accordingly. not to mention the extra discipline and training he's had to go through to control his natural telepathy. I think it's given him wisdom beyond his years. though lord knows how much he learned during the time he would randomly snatch thoughts and memories from those around him."
offering Sevilin a seat and a glass of wine.
"I hear yours however has become more like his mother with the horses. Or piper for that matter. I've talked to malikhai about it, he's going to try and help reign his compulsiveness a bit. try a bit of peer pressure to get him to be a bit less race obsessive."
