Trina smiled faintly again. "Thank you...and you're not useless...my friend, your company and safety are all I need." She said sincerely, picking up her water glass again, setting it back down empty. Odd, seeing how she didn't seem to drink it....

"Not so much a plan as the merest hinting of an idea." Lily answered Arlen ruefully, then looked to Trina again. "If there is anything I can do, please let me know." she told her, obviously worried. Then she tucked herself up to Arlen's side, sending a glance to the book before sighing.

"Care to share it with me or are you gonna build it up a bit first?" Arlen asked, putting an arm around her. "Are you sure you're okay Trina?"

"I think I'd like it to at least be a theory before I share it." Lily answered, wrinkling her nose as her ears flopped. "Then I... need to talk to... Crystal." she added, obviously reluctant on that part. "I might need her help..." Unwilling to elaborate further, she fell silent, skimming the page of her book, jotting down a few more notes.

Trina nodded her thanks. "I'm not a pressing issue Arlen...take care of the more important things first..." She said tiredly, sincerely. She wanted everyone to be happy again...

"Really?" Arlen asked, a bit surprised, but decided not to press the issue. "You're important too, Trina," he said confidently. "It'll be a while before we can do something about this anyways and I've got nothing to occupy my time with."

Trina opened her mouth to argue, then shut it, not sure what to say. She smiled finally, at them both. "Thank you..." She said softly, nodding. "You are very kind." But she honestly didn't know what to say.

"Really." Lily answered dryly. Then she looked to Trina, giving a warm smile of her own. "You are kind as well. Arlen is right, you are important. You're family." she nodded, then tipped her head to the side, considering. "You know..."

Arlen blushed slighlty at the compliment. "It's really not that big of a deal. You're part of the only family I have. What're you thinking?" he asked, looking down at Lily.

Trina nodded her head slowly, somewhat struck dumb. Then she broke into a very, very happy smile. "Yes...family...you are all I have as well...all of you...what is it I know?" She asked, the phrase a bit new and unused for her. She watched Lily curiously.

"What? Oh, sorry." Lily smiled a bit sheepishly, then cleared her throat, wincing a bit. "You being so tired, even though you sleep... it could be that your soul is leaving your body, like what happened with me and Nii-san. Only yours sounds a bit more complicated... we weren't ever supposed to wake up, and it almost sounds as if something is trying to wear you down. Trina... is someone after you?" she asked carefully, watching the other woman intently.

Trina considered this question, debating whether or not to tell Lily and Arlen...or anyone really. "There...once was...but, they're both dead." She said carefully, not wanting to worry anyone with the society member that River had murdered, after the poor man had come to the bar, mistaking River for Trina and dying because of it. "But...now...when I sleep, I keep running into one of the two...I don't know why..." She trailed off, dark eyes looking troubled again. She didn't want to tell them about her imprisionment, it had been decades ago anyway, and she didn't like to think about it. "And...he's no different than before he died...just angrier." She shivered once, eyes closing to shut something out. "Very angry. And even though it is me dreaming, has to be, I have no control over them...I used to."

"Trina..." Lily gently set down her book and pencil, then slipped away from Arlen, walking to the older woman. Carefully, she lay a hand on her shoulder, smiling a bit sadly. "I don't know why you dream of a dead man, but... I think someone is messing with you. This doesn't sound like you're sick, or anything like that. It sounds like an outside influence. The dead men... were they part of a group or anything like that? Someone may want revenge, or..." she trailed off, shrugging.

Arlen sat back and listened to the conversation. So far it was about dreams, magic, and dead people, none of which were his areas of expertise. Still he listened in case he would prove useful.
