On his now 25th try, Hato felt that he would get the technique down sooner or later, and when he tried this time, he was right. Once again he felt the now familiar pulse of chakra, and he could break the flow easier than before.
His practice of drilling the technique seemed to be working, so he got ready to do it again.

Successes: 9/50
Seemingly a 50/50 chance to succeed or fail, this would be classified as a fail. His past successes seemingly put Hato on a trail, taking 1 step forward with each success, but 2 steps back with each failure. He kept doing the technique correct once, but then he kept losing the momentum and he couldn't do it again.
Hato was discouraged slightly, but he didn't let it bother him. He focused once more, and tried it again. The power of his chakra was obvious, he could feel it moving and flowing faster than blood, and he knew the power that was in it, but he just couldn't break the flow again.

Hato failed yet again, almost as if God, or whatever higher being there was, didn't want him to succeed and learn this technique.
*Well, this is just my oppurtunity to prove that wrong.*
He closed his hands together, and fell deep into his own chakra, feeling for the perfect area to close off the circulation. Failing to find an appropriate place, he let his hands fall to the side and sighed again.

Hato lifted his hands again, and formed a Tiger hand seal, and tried to stimulate his chakra system.
Surprisingly, the hand seal formation seemed to help, and he quickly found an area to close off chakra. He felt the energy in his arms falter slightly, and then the chakra circulation picked back up again.
*Now I'm starting to get it.*

Guessing that the tiger hand seal worked, Hato experimented using another, this time the Ox hand seal.
This certain hand seal was his favorite because of the way it looked, and he felt that it wasn't as hard as the others.
Hato felt the chakra system stimulate and he cut off parts, and this time his chest felt the energy leave him, and he was ecstatic at his progress.

Hato was getting tired now, exerting all that chakra from most places.
He was wondering how much longer it would take to perfect this ability, and how many more times he could do it before he could master it fully.
Panting with the energy it was taking, he couldn't keep up the chakra flowing, and just let it go.
*Ughh, I'll get back to this in just one second*
Hato sat down and relaxed in a quick minute long meditation to calm himself.

Hato was disappointed with himself, even after the meditation he gave himself to rest.
Even with the rest and the newfound energy he had, he couldn't pinpoint where to break the flow of the chakra.
With this most recent failure, he took another small break, breathing in and out to calm his nerves.

Yet again, mistake by mistake, Hato kept failing.
Amazed at his own failures, he was starting to get frustrated yet again.
*How many times must I do this?*
Trying to focus as much as possible, Hato took a deep breath in, but he realized that he just wouldn't succeed in this attempt.
After this failure, Hato tried to do it again, faster this time, to try and "catch himself off guard" in order to confuse himself.

His initial tricking of himself seemed to work, and this attempt worked perfectly.
He would've continued on with attempting the jutsu after this success, but he was tiring quite quickly, so he took a second to breathe and relax, contemplating on how to better do the jutsu.

Again Hato succeeded.
It seemed that even though he had just taken a break, it was possible to succeed in using the technique in his fatigued state, and so he took another minute to relax and recover, and prepared the redo the jutsu.
If rest had no factor in how to do the jutsu correctly, then he had once again missed the critical factor. Disheartened at this prospect, but confident in his abilities now, Hato prepared for the next attempt.

At his last 2 successes in a row, it wasn't that much a surprise that he had failed this attempt.
Perhaps it wasn't as bad as he thought, at least he was getting the drills out of the way, and he was mastering the
technique slowly but surely. His optimism about the technique made him a bit happier, and he was ready to move on.
*Gosh, this is just a D-rank jutsu, learning the higher up ones must be ridiculous!*

Just as Hato was once again losing hope at learning the jutsu, he was surprised to feel his chakra building up and breaking down within him naturally.
*Have I done this technique so much that I'm finally getting into the habit of doing it?*
Hato was relieved to at least get one more success over with. According to his research in the Oto library, he would only have to do it a maximum of 50 times to perfect the technique, and so far he was 14 successful attempts through.
*Gosh this is harder than I thought it would be, but relatively easy I suppose."

He was feeling foolish, and like a little kid again, just drilling the same technique over and over until he got it. He felt like the effort he was putting in was mediocre, but it was so time consuming.
*I should focus harder.*

Trying, really trying, to focus, Hato pulled together and focused in on his chakra system.
To no avail, it didn't work, and he couldn't find the right place to break the flow.
Discouraged, his shoulders slumped as he heaved another sigh, and sat back down to meditate.

Hato was deep in meditation, completely relaxed, when he realized that he was almost dozing off.
*How long have I been here, training? It's felt like only a few minutes... but I guess if I'm this tired it's been at least a few hours..*
Confused, Hato took another minute to rest, but he got up before he passed out. He took a stance, and focused as he was about to drill the technique 5 times, in the high hopes that if he did the jutsu fast enough in succession, he would start understanding what affected the chance of it working.
*Ok... ready... GO!*
He once again formed a handseal for every time he did the jutsu.
*Snake, Rat, Monkey, Ox, Boar*
For every handseal he did, he failed to do the technique almost every time. Beginning to get frustrated, he was using the Ox handseal, and immediately after forming it, he felt the chakra within him falter and re-balance.
*Maybe it's this particular handseal that's affecting my jutsu!*
Curious to experiment, he tried another hand seal to see if it would have the same effect, or result in another failure.
Staring at his hands in amazement when it didn't work the the Boar hand sign, he was almost sure that the Ox hand sign was the key factor he had been missing!
*Now maybe I can start training for real.*
Unsure of himself, he took another moment to catch his breath.
Attempting the jutsu 5 times in a row, and quickly, was actually more tirin than Hato had expected.
*If I succumb to my tiredness now, I'll never finish learning this jutsu*
Hato thought about the benefits of sleeping and doing the rest of the training tomorrow, but he also realized that if he got all of it over now, he could start going on missions, train other jutsu, or just plain laze around whenever he wanted once he was done here.
*I guess it's just better for me to learn this jutsu here and now.*
He thought about what made the Ox handseal so special, and practiced forming it with his fingers as quick as he could.
Getting tangled up at first, his fingers were not stretched out or ready enough to be used for the handseal.
Hato stretched out his fingers and his hand, visualized what the handseal should look like, and prepared for the next attempt of the Release jutsu.
