The emphasis does not go unnoticed, but the smile never leaves her face. She finds it more amusing than anything else. "Why yes, as a matter of fact, I am. However, at the moment I suppose it's not my official occupation, at least not yet..."
She shrugs. "What about you? Still running errands for other people?"

*gunsinger raises an eyebrow just slightly, then, at her question responds cooly:*
I'm not the sort who changes his line of work often. Nor does my profession suffer from a lack of patronage...
*He takes a drag on his cigarette*
The same could probably be said for you.

"That's true, I suppose. But oddly enough, I'm beginning to find fewer and fewer people willing to let me work for them."
She pauses thoughtfully, then shrugs. "But I don't think a change of profession is in my future, either. There's not much else I can make a living with out here. At least, nothing I'm willing to do."

*Gunsinger nods, looking her over*
You're the kind of girl who'd do well only on the first floor of the saloon....
*He takes a final puff on his cigarett then liks his fingers and puts out the stub... placing it in his cigarette case*
I reckon you best not do too well.... the girls upstairs might resent it. And you don't look too handy with a gun, beg pardon.
*His eyes return to hers....red like a butte during a sunset... cold like the night that follows it*

She meets his gaze for just a few seconds before glancing down at the edge of the table again. Damn those eyes. So unnerving.
"Well, I do carry one-- incase you ever wonder. I can't say how good I am with it, though." She looks back at him. "I generally try to avoid the situations where one is needed."

That means you arn't very good. unless you have some natural affinity for it. and even then...
*He moves forward... his steps soft... reminding one of a mountain lion stalking a dear... he reaches the table and puts his hands on the edge.. leaning in towards her.... his breath carries the harsh smell of tobacco.*
All the talent in the world is meaningless to someone who's practiced...
*he shifts his wait to the table a bit and it groans... putting emphasis to his next words*
...or someone who really wants to get the job done.
*He pushes off the table and it emits another soft groan.. as if a sigh of releif.*
And in your profession... whether you're a card shark.. or a card sharp.. is going to put you in one of "those situations..."
*he looks down at her*
One day or another.

Felicity frowns slightly and leans back in her chair as he approaches, keeping as much distance between them as possible. Still, she listens, though not quite sure what to think, and considers a response.
"Oh, I'm sure it will. I think it already has... although what you consider one of 'those situations' may be different."

*his eye brow twitches slightly*
Dead is Dead. Raped is raped... and maimed is maimed. one of these days you'll play your cards wright with all the wrong people.
*he half turns his back on her then stops himself and turns back.... fixing his gaze on her again*
I've seen it done... and more....
*he takes a step backward andpulls out another cigarette*
.. and I've been the wrong people.

Felicity stares at him for a moment, then looks at the table again, seemingly hit hard by the statements. For a moment she is silent, but as always she tries to keep emotion in check and proceeds as evenly as possible.
"You don't have to tell me, Mr. Gunsinger. I know firsthand. It's not something I like to be reminded of..."
She trails off momentarily, then changes the subject, still examining the edge of the table and tapping her fingers against it in an almost jittery gesture.
"I think I remember, when we first met, you said five years was a long time to be doing what I do.. and truthfully, I know it is. I should probably be dead by now... I hesitate to use the word 'lucky', but..." she trails off again before picking up elsewhere.
"Anyway, I just don't think about that. This is what I do, it's how I live. I deal with the consequences and move on. I know it's probably foolish to think that way, but quite honestly it's the only way I keep from giving up entirely."

*gunsinger's eyes narrow at the menton of her "First hand experience" then he nods*
5 years is a long time in either of our professions.
*he shifts his stance...* I gave you my card. I'm not justice. but if you ever need.... closure. I'll give it.
*he turns his back on her... moveing to the bar.*
Free of charge.

Felicity glances at him, then back at the table. "..Thank you. That's a kind offer. But they're already taken care of, as far as I know. It was a long time ago, anyway. As close as I can get to closure, I'm probably there."
She shrugs and manages a smile, then glances around and stands up.
"Well, the mood in this room has been sufficiently darkened. I should probably leave."

*gunsinger nods*
Forgive me for intruding, ma'am. Trudging up old memories was not my intent.
*he puts his cigarette away, unlit.*
I suppose I should move along myself. I have a job that needs finishing..
*he turns towards her again. his eyes holding a look of cold determination.... and the remnants of something Felicity might take as anger...*
..and I am of a mind to finish it.
*he moves towards the door*

"It's alright. You couldn't have known."
She starts toward the door, stopping to let him go first. She nods slightly at his last comment, understanding if not totally agreeing.
"Go ahead, then. It was nice seeing you again, by the way. I'd almost begun to worry."

*Gunsinger stops at the words of reassurence... and turns around to face her listening to her dismissal in silence before replying:"
I'm not the kind of man you should be worried about, Miss Felicity.
*he takes his key and looks it over before looking at her again*
And there are men who deserve what's come to them.
*There were some things that didn't sit right with a man. Even with a woman he barely knew from a time that hadn't happened yet.... ...there were things that bothered even a man like him.... He let the surge of anger die down though. In his line of work you kept a cool head....
...or you lost it.*
Until we meet again.
*He says in a voice that almost had feeling.... and then he is gone.*

Felicity nods again, and watches him leave. "Until we meet again."
She waits for the door to close, then turns around and lets out a long sigh, just looking out at the room for a second. Well, perhaps Gunsinger wasn't such a bad person. Maybe this place wasn't so bad after all. It seemed like things in general could be picking up a silver lining, however thin.
Sure, it'd probably go away just as fast, but in that case it was best to just enjoy the peace while it lasted. Felicity glanced around again, waited a few more seconds for something to happen, then picked up her key and went through the door.
