"I think I made a friend," Keegan chuckled, gesturing behind him to where Maven was still putting away her myriad of drawing things. "And yes, I saw the whole thi... wait a minute, what? What do you mean your dad said awful things to you during your match with him? Are you trying to tell me that your dad is a gym leader?" he asked, looking a bit like he'd just been smacked with an Astonish attack.

It was Kasiya's turn to look confused. "Yeah, my dad's the gym leader in Vermilion City. Didn't I ever tell you?" she asked, scratching her chin. With all the things she'd been through in the past few weeks, it was getting pretty hard to remember who she'd told what to, when and why. She thought back to the battle with Lt. Surge, remembering it fondly. "Shocker managed an impressive win over his stuck-up Raichu," she nodded, cringing a bit as she thought of how upset her moody electric mouse would be over missing not one, but two gym matches in a row.

Removing one of his Safari Ball's from his belt, he tossed it out to reveal the large Kangaskhan. Upon being released the large pokemon bounded over to her trainer and enveloped him in a big hug. "Urg... Yes I am glad to see you again to Moeder." He managed to gasp out before being released from her strong arm's. Catching his breath he eyed the large pokemon in front of him. "All right Moeder we are going to have a little practice match against Bahamut. She isn't going to attack, I just want you to focus on attacking her." He explained as best as he could to the large Kangaskhan. Hearing this Moeder nodded and shifted her gaze over at the dragon attached to Dante's arm. Looking down at the small dragon attached to his arm he nudged her some in order to indicate her to get off him. "All right you need to get off now Bahamut. Your shell should protect you from most of her attack's." He cast an apologetic glance at Moeder. Looking up at her trainer then at the other pokemon Bahamut paused for a moment before letting go and buzzing over to the center of the now normal arena. Going over to the center Moeder stared at the buzzing dragon who floated in the center.

"All right you two. I am not going to be giving any instruction's, I just want to see what Moeder can do and get a bit of training in." Both of his pokemon looked over at him and nodded. "All right then you can get started." He said before going over to the side and sitting down on a bench so he could get a good view.

Mr. M curled his tightly bandaged fingers around his Seviper's Pokeball. Then he smiled under his hat. "Seviper, return!"

The snake-like Pokemon hissed as he felt the warm red glow around his skin. Then he disappeared.

"Go, Mawhile!" A large Pokemon with a fly trap like mouth on the back of its head popped out of its ball. It swung its other mouth around, twirling happily.

"Come on, Poochy, lets do this."

"Mawhile, Crunch, lets go!" The Pokemon darted across to Poochy, swinging her trap like mouth at him, opening it and attempting to bite him.

As Maven put away her items she watched Keegan go over to the girl he called Kasiya. I shouldn't go over there, that is for winners and their friends. Which I am not. Maven stood up and smiled and gave a nod towards the circle and picked up Vixy and headed down to the exit.

"Wish I could have seen that battle," Keegan nodded, scratching his head. He assumed that battle had taken place back when Shocker was still a Pikachu, although he had a hard time imagining the smaller of the two mice coming up as the victor. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Maven as she finished packing away her things and started to leave. "Hey Maven, wait a second!" he called, waving to get her attention. "You should come over here and say hello to everyone!"

Maven stopped dead in her tracks as Keegan called out to her. say hello? to everyone? uhm...I guess I should Maven slowly stepped over the guard rail and walked over towards Keegan. She kept her head down slightly and looked at Vixy who jumped down and started circling her feet.

Maven's heart pounded hard against her chest. She started to worry if it would fly out. Her knees were buckling threatening to make her collapse. She didn't do crowds ever even with her family. As she approached she looked at Keegan and then over to the gym leader and finally to the girl Kasiya.

"H-hello..." Maven's voice sqeaked as she forced herself to say hi.

Standing across from the small and hyper dragon the Kangaskhan thought of what move's that she should use here. After a second she decided that she should use the move that every Kangaskhan knew how to use. Running over to Bahamut she raised one hand, which had formed a fist, and proceded to let out a flurry of Comet Punches. After the attack's Bahamut, who had been expecting them to hurt more, giggled. It seemed her trainer was right, as usual, her shell protected her from a lot of the damage. It also helped that she was just much stronger then Moeder at the moment.

Moeder a bit irritated at Bahamut's giggling growled at her before going in for a Bite attack. Though instead of attacking her body peice she latched her teeth onto the Vibrava's wing. Even if she was a higher level that still hurt a lot, what with her sensitive wing's and all. Growling Bahamut decided to show Moeder what a real Bite attack was. Clamping her teeth onto her arm the two were soon in a brawling battle rolling around on the ground and just not doing as they were told.

Sitting on the sideline's Dante just sighed and shook his head before recalling them both. Glancing down at his watch he saw that he had enough time to get them healed again before heading out onto the floor. "Well, at least they got some practice in." He muttered before going back into the locker room to get them healed.

While Kasiya and Keegan were chatting, Nina turned around to be met by two of her other friends. "Nina... I don't care what you think, you really did a good job in that battle." Whitney smiled a bit, trying to help ease whatever ill feelings may still be lingering in Nina's mind. "Yeah, you're really getting better!" Rai added, "But, what Kasiya said is true. You may want to invest your time in battling trainers and getting more Gym Badges first, before you accept any other challengers here."

"Yeah, I know," the girl replied, "but... I felt like, I don't know. Obligated to accept any challengers that came my way, because I knew that's what Sabrina would do. But --heh-- look what happened. I lost to all three of them. What would she say?" Raimundo shook his head. "That was your sister, Nina. She was far more prepared than you, and more experienced. Forgive me for sounding bitter, but it's the truth, y'know? And you need to keep in mind that you aren't your sister. You need to learn things at your own pace, not rush them in an attempt to live up to your sister's image."

He was right, Nina knew it. He was right about everything. She had only wanted to battle to crush her opponents like she knew Sabrina had done in the past, but everything had backfired when she attempted to put her plan into action. Or maybe it wasn't so much her plan that had errors.

Maybe it was the Pokemon she was using.

She loved her sister dearly, and felt as if she had to be identical to her in her battling strategies, but... These Pokemon --Mimien, Oracle, Anastasia, Xena, Regal-- they weren't hers! Sure, she owned them now, but Sabrina had put so much of her love and time and attention into them... She had to find her own identity, but it would be hard.

"I think... you're right, both of you," Nina said. "I need to stop living in Sabrina's shadow, because I will never be her. This Gym... it holds so many memories of her, so many things... but, they're all only in existance because she created them. This is my Gym now, and I will preserve my sister's memory as best I can, but I can't run this place if things stay the way they are." She let out a quick sigh. "Therefore, this is no longer the Gym of Psychic Pokemon. This is the Gym of Nina's Pokemon... but before I battle anyone else here, I need to breed those Pokemon into existance."

"Wait, what?" Whitney asked. "You're going to breed Pokemon to be used here?" Nina nodded, turning back around to face Kasiya. "Sabrina may not have bred her Pokemon, but after seeing Kasiya in battle, I witnessed a tremendous bond, not of psychic power, but of a thing called love. I feel that if I breed Pokemon to be used here, I can develop a bond with them too. So, until further notice, this Gym is no longer in operation for battles."

Nina's speech was cut off as she saw a girl reluctantly approaching the group of people. "Hello," she said, turning her head and smiling a bit. "Maven, is it? My name's Nina."

I wonder what my dad would think of Keegan, Kasiya thought, pursing her lips as she looked up at the redhead, and smiled. I just might have to take matters into my own hands here... She stepped towards him a bit, stopping as he turned and called out to the girl who'd been watching the battle. Hoping no one had noticed her slight movements towards Keegan, she continued to smie brightly and waved at the new girl. "Hello, Maven. Nice to meet you," she said cheerfully, giving a strange sort of bow. "My name is Kasiya, and these are my friends, Nina, Whitney, Raimundo, and I think you already know Keegan," she said, introducing them one by one and pointing to each in turn.

"H-hello I'm Maven." Maven extended her hand and gave a soft smile but looking up at the girl called Nina through her bangs. Everything was so new. She didn't understand why Keegan called her over, nor why this girl was so pleasant towards her.

Flashbacks overwhelmed Maven's thoughts as kids pulled her hair teased her about her books and what she thought of pokemon, how they used to try and steal Phyra. Maven slightly shook her head clear of them and smiled softly. everyone is different. Maybe they are too

Maven looked over at the girl Kasiya and continued to smile. Maven bowed to her as well and nodded to each one named.

"T-Thank you for the i-introductions."

Kilik paused beneath a street lamp, which he slammed his fist into. His knuckles began to hurt a bit afterward, but he clenched his teeth to rid himself of the pain. Did I really have to be like that? he thought, his fist shaking somewhat, I went to have a civilized conversation with her and.. he shook his head. "Dammit!" Kilik punched the lightpole again and went off to the Pokemon Center alone.

His figure stepped into the Center as the door slid open. None of his Pokemon were hurt in any fashion, so he told the Nurse he'd hold off on healing at the moment. He removed the Rocket Ball on his belt and looked at it. "It's a shame I never used her more..." he whispered, "I wish she could've helped more." Kilik took Sudowoodo's ball over to the PC and logged on. His fingers tapped across the keys, logging into his system.

"There we go!" he smiled. Two small icons resided inside his system. One for Poppite and one for Lairon. Kilik placed Sudowoodo's Rocket Ball onto the pedastal and pressed 'Deposit' on the computer. The ball began to glow a faint white as blue bolts of electricity zapped it. It disappeared in a flash and Sudowoodo's icon appeared on the screen. "Now, then..." he double clicked on Lairon and smiled. The Pokemon let out a roar on the screen as he clicked on 'Withdraw'.

The machine by the PC began to make a whirring noise and more blue bolts zapped about. Eventually, another white ball appeared. When the light faded, a Great Ball rested on the stand. "Good!" he grabbed the ball and clipped it to his belt. After logging out, Kilik moved over to the couches and sat down, humming to himself again.

The duo had thier Poekmon healed and spent the next several hours catching up and wandering around town. Before either of them knew it, it was growing dark outside. "It's probably a bit past nine wouldn't you say?" Mitsu asked looking around at the lights and empty streets. Edward gave her a slight nod in agreement followed by a yawn that he attempted to hide. "Why don't you get some sleep?" Mitsu asked tilting her head to the side a bit. "It'd do you some good."

"But what about you?" he asked surprised that she had even made the offer. "You'll be ok by yourself?"

"I've been traveling by myself for a bit now. I'll be fine." Traveling by myself more and more. I miss the company. She had spent quite a while traveling along side Mike, Kasiya, and Dante. And a few other friends she didn't know quite well too. "Just go to sleep. You've had a long day. I can take care of myself now." Still a bit unsure, but swayed by the force in her voice he left her out on the street near the Pokemon Center with a quick 'good night' and a hug.

Mitsu yanked off her white bandana before stuffing it into her bag. Running her hand though her purple tinted hair she gave a loud yawn. "Man, it feels better," she said shaking her head a bit. The bandana was starting to irritate her, although it did prove useful at times. A few of the street lamps flickered as she walked by. I wonder where everyone is right now she thought. Kanto. I'd bet money on that she thought a few seconds later. "I wonder if anyone would mind if I tagged along with them . . ." she muttered to herself looking up at the moon. "No, no. Better to just stick it out by myself for now until the beach party."

She let loose another yawn. She was rather far from the Pokemon Center now, nearing the outskirts of town. The area was empty when she arrived, just had she had expected and hoped. She sat down near the edge of the water taking yet another trip down memory lane. "This is where Nightmare and the rest of them played. And the place where Wally's Kirlia battle Karri when she was a Kirlia," she said happily. The last time she had visited the spot the area was alone as well. No one but herself and her faithful Pokemon.

Mitsu stood up, clenching her fist. The trip down memory lane was abruptly cut short. It was almost like watching a movie. Things that had happened not too long ago seemed like they passed by ages ago. Except that the weak, frail Mitsu no longer was present. And there under the moon that hung in the deep night sky she made a promise to herself. "I'm going to prove it. I won't need to rely on anyone else, but myself."

As another cool breeze pressed against the back of Nitro's wings, Mike felt a sudden sense of urgency wash over him. A familiar feeling crept up into his chest. Something bad was happening somewhere, and it didn't sit well with the boy. "Eh, Nitro," He said, clutching his torso. "I'm getting that sense again, the kind I got before dad went missing, and then the other time when Mt. Chimney had that little episode."

As the sound of the helicopter blades drowned out his thoughts, Mike hoped his usually keen sense of awareness was nothing but a false alarm.
