"Fine, alright already! You don't have to tell me. I'll go back," Shalai sighed, standing to follow the men.
"Princess Shalai..." the man continued, "It's about princess Lucy. Princess Lucy's condition has worsened!"

The castle was more of a mansion, but no matter, it was still huge. Brayden and the other two boys split off from the guards as Shalai rushed inside to check on Lucy.
"This is a disgrace..." Kaito muttered, as the three ducked behind some bushes.
"To think that we'd have to resort to sneaking around like this."
"It's not like we have much of a choice after what happened last time..." Ren muttered, "We can't just waltz through the front door."
"Arguing like this won't do us any good," Brayden offered, "We might not be able to help her if she gets any worse."

"If I remember correctly, that window should be Lucy's room," Ren pointed upwards to a window on the top of a tower near the far end of the mansion.
"How can we get in there?" Kaito asked, sighing. The three looked to the tower forlornly.
"Hm... what about.... the chimney?" Brayden offered, not coming up with any better ideas.
"You're joking, right?" Kaito blanched.
However, no one could come up with anything better, so after a bit of trouble, plenty of scraped knuckles, and a couple of tumbles later, the group found themselves on the roof of the mansion.

Brayden was the first down, considering it was his "brilliant" idea. Tumbling down the chimney, he finally caught a hold on the rough brick of the inside of the chimney, before descending slowly, hopping down onto the hearth after making sure no one was about. Ren and Kaito followed soon after, coughing. The three of them were completely covered in soot and ash.
"You sure there wasn't some other way in?!" Kaito complained in a whisper.
"Worked like a charm!" Ren grinned "And it'll be easier to hide if they don't know someone's here!"
"Now then, where were we?" Ren asked, taking a look around.
Just then, the door handle started to turn, as a group of people entered the room.

The three dove behind a couple of dressers, as a maid and two guards entered the room. The maid was holding a tray, which she set down on the table. Thankfully the boys were out of sight, as the three conversed in hushed tones. It appeared they had found their way into the servant's quarters.
One of the guards pulled something from his coat, a small vial of liquid. He poured a small amount of the liquid into the pitcher of water that was on the tray. Brayden's eyes widened.
"That's...?!" he whispered, as Ren peered around the dresser, trying to get a better veiw at the vial.
Knocking a broom down in the process.

The three made much better time now that they didn't have to worry about being spotted. However, they knew that they couldn't really waltz wherever they wanted. For one, someone might recognize that they weren't on the staff, and that wouldn't be to helpful to their quest.
However, their luck seemed to run out as a commander stopped them.
"You three, any sign of the intruders?" he barked, before stepping forward. Brayden and Ren were prepared to dash, however, Kaito stepped forward, offering a salute.
"Actually sir, we just spotted them and were reporting to you. We saw them dash towards the gardens!" Kaito nodded, pointing to the far side of the mansion.
"Good work, we'll catch them soon!" the commander grinned, before hurrying away. Brayden and Ren managed a sigh of relief.
