At first it was because we share the same first name.
After a double-take, I realized he was one of the hobbits from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I really loved that.
Then I began to really dig the whole 'rockstar' appeal. I've been in bands and I know how it gets rough, so I sympathized with him.
When he started to be interested in Claire, I fell in love with the thought of him being a father figure, since his brother had already cleaned up a bit I figured he would too.
After the one chick landed on the island and told him that Driveshaft became extra-famous after he "died" and released a Greatest Hits album, I really began to look forward to him getting off the island. He rarely ever got a break, and I think he really would have deserved it.
I kept getting my hopes up that he wouldn't die, and my heart shattered when he drowned ... I'm really hoping that he somehow is brought back ... I don't care how lame/impossible.
((off-topic: My girlfriend broke up the day I watched the season three finale, further-adding to my pain)) :[

But one of my main reasons for hating Charlie was when he went against Locke and tried to make him look bad. (Sorry to hear that)

Hahaha, yeah, he was Merry! Haha, I had to watch LoTR after I realized that that was him. I wish he'd come back too sad

I wonder who would win in a fight between Merry and Charlie...
After all that led up to his death, you know he had to die. It would be cheesey if he just came back.

well if he came back it WOULD be cheesey. many people would find it acceptable because of Charlie's awesomeness but it would be cheesey.
