well, the second death star would not exist as of RotJ, and the Rebel fleet will have been larger by the time it was, if it was ever built.
the Empire's resources could not be as dedicated to finding the rebels, and as rebel support grew, it would weed its way into the senate, undermining the Empire and loosening their hold on the galaxy.
like that...? i was thinking more for battles, though, like...
what if Dack hadn't been killed? or if he had been killed after he took down a walker? then Luke could take down another one... and possibly save the lives of other pilots by doing so, which means there would be more to attempted cable runs.
the Rebels would get more time, and more personnell could be evacuated safely, plus the Imperials (infantry) probably wouldn't get there as quickly as they did in the movie. in this way, perhaps vader would not learn firsthand about the departure of the Falcon and be able to track it so easily.
etc, etc...

I think the idea of a battle analysis thread and a debate thread is a good one. We could also compare the performances of various sides throughout the movies (clones at geonosis compared to clones at Kashyyk, imps at yavinvs imps at hoth vs imps at endor).

dude, don't bother. I already know how dangerously effective Stornies can be. I just think they're under apreciated in the star wars universe.

Everyone knows that you can't kill the hero with a grunt soldier, even if the grunt soldier is the uber-1337 boss at the end of the level 99. It would kill the story.
Plus, you should check into the Outlaws Guide to teh galaxy. its our somewhat baised version of how the SW universe runs. It tells facts, then blasts it with opinions made from outlaws (like cale), Jedi (like muah), and anyone else in between.
