Nyghtbringer No, not ALL the newer bands. Actually, this is where you can find some ov the more talented spirit. But, for the majority ov it.... *nod nod* Yeah, that I can agree with. I see no reason to play if you want to only for the money. The music gets much better if it's any spirit in it. Argh, I can't explain.

NOT Metallica. I can't possible say that Metallica should give it up, but I can agree with that they shouldn't play their older songs live since they're, sad but true, ruin the feelings you get when listening to them. But still, Metallica shouldn't give in, not yet.

I don't think CoB should give up yet, but they are starting to go a little downhillish, I don't know, I will have to listen to the new album when I get it.

Nyghtbringer Talent is gifted in many ways, and no matter what, every band should be given credit for designing songs and constructing the music flow. So, to pick on one band to give up, it just is not fair. Their talent can change, as well as their views.
This is why I am going to pick on two.
Ozzy needs to give it up. Not because he sold out or anything! But, he such an old man. Watching him "run" across the stage at Ozzfest, it was just sickening.
Metallica needs to sod off, and they best do it soon. Lars lowered their name with Napster, Kirk Hammet is now overshadowed by fledgling guitarists, and James Hetfield has lost his voice, ability, and gained a marketing mind. How sickening.
Now, for those ov you who think Dimmu Borgir should quit....:
Dimmu Borgir is a fantastic band! Their old style was more gothic, now their new style is very hard and orchestral. But no less dark! I must say this one thing, their last album was rather weak... But, Puritanical Euphoria Misanthropia was perhaps my favourite. Listen to the tracks "Hybrid Stigmata - The Apostasy", "Kings ov Carnival Creation", and "Blessed Upon the Throne ov Tyranny". All stellar in the Dimmu Borgir way!
And, for those who wish them to quit, why not have them listen to their CD entitled "Enthrone Darkness Triumph". That was a powerful album! Incredibly well said. Dimmu IS a fantastic band. They happen to be one of my favourite bands. But with Nicholas Barker out of the picture I'm a bit worried about their next album.

cardanas TheBardstard i believe metal is dead now, compared to what it used 2 be back in the 80's anyway. crying its not fair What about Opeth, or Nile, or Lacuna Coil? Opeth yes, Nile yes, Lacuna Coil should give it up.

I know everyone else has said this, but still, metallica. They should leave those great songs alone, and quit trying to recreate their success.

Metallica should give it up. And so does cannibal corpse, they ran out of gore topics and started recreating their own songs. They should give up before they start doing radio rock.
