The time limit should be 3 days. The crown will expire after said time regardless of whether the absence was noted or not. For example, I will be leaving for 2 weeks starting monday, by thursday the crown will no longer be mine, and I shall have to come and attempt to reclaim my crown when my two weeks are over.
Sound spiffy?

Bahamut- I think, if you're going off the date of Sir Nicks Deathday party, you could figure out the year of him being there, but there are contridictions to that too, if you google it (I was looking up Harry's birthyear a week ago and googled it, and found an article that gave a year, based on the Deathday party, but also pointed out several contratdictions.)

Well you could also look at it this way too. That is the first clue in the books as to the time that this series takes place. Depending on whether she did it on purpose or not, the contradictions may be invalid.

I seriously doubt she would do anything that would make other things invalid. Rowling, as I recall, also said in an interview that she was horrible with numbers and years and such. Chances are, she didn't give Harry a birthyear when starting it.

Another contradiction to that is if that year is correct, then the year in wich Dudley has a playstation doesn't work because it didn't come out until the year later and that was only in Japan.
