I play trombone in my concert band and jazz band and some times i get to play the bass trombone and it is epic but i want to change to tuba for it is also epic

I play trumpet in jazz band, and btw professor oreo, bass trombone=best instrument in the jazz world. Ours always has these big honking lines, and its probably the coolest sounding instrument next to stand up bass!!
Oh yeah we have Jazz State Championships on the 24th, wish us luck!

Jazz flute, jazz flute! I play jazz flute, although I'm also being taught alto sax for jazz. In the class, though, I just play flute. At my school, there's jazz lab and jazz ensemble. Jazz lab is basically for starters and stuff, and jazz ensemble is audition only and you can only have one guitarist at a time--in jazz lab there are, like, 10 guitar players who WON'T STOP NOODLING.
Jazz solos are iffy for me. My conversation-ending problem shines through my solos, and I never know what to do at the end, and sometimes in the middle. My teacher says to think of a melody in my head... But I can't! In the end, I just end up playing random notes, and making up my own little melody as I go along.

I play baritone sax AND I improvize alot XD XD And I have been playing jazz music since 6th grade so im pretty hard wired for jazz music at this point XD

Hey, I am a member here at the Band Nerd Guild and I would like to say that I participate in a jazz band at my school (seeing how this is a jazz band thread) but anyways, what kinda instruments do you guys play? I play trombone and trumpet in jazz band ! (:

I play clarinet. We've got ourselves a jazz Tuba, baritone, and multi flutes.

Aha, For me I Use to play the Clarinet in my Jazz Band but around the beginning of the year I switched to what now is the Tennor Sax, It is so much fun !. But i have only been plaing it for about a month and it is hard to learn alot of new fingerings when I also play the Clarinet in Symphonic Band, It get's confusing but it is so much fun !. biggrin

But for Concert band too though. We just started in jazz, and I have a solo, I'm like freaking out.

So yeah. Our VARSITY Jazz Band (and our concert band) went to Washington, D.C. We entered a national competition and won First place for both of them with a rank of Superior. If you wanna hear our band, heres the links to both songs we played in D.C. The ChickenSweet Georgia Brown

I am a Tromboner (trombonist?) for jazz band. I play Euph in WE though. Also, this year, if the band manages to play Count Bubba's Revenge then we get a free steak dinner.

Well, right now, we're butchering it, but it'll get there. I'm an alto sax/pianist, though. We don't have any trombonists/ers (I think I'll trust spellcheck for trombonists) in our jazz orchestra though. Nor do we have a constant pianist. There's only two willing people that can play piano, me, and the bari sax. But we need the bari, and we have 4 altos instead of 2. I dunno if I want to play keyboard for that song though; I'm usually a classical pianist, so jazz stuff is a little weird for me. Anyways, good luck razz

I play saxophone, flute and piano. i am in jazz band and i am thrilled. i mastered the flute in a month and i became an intermediate piano player in one week. my band teacher calls me a show off i may be one but m not really well atleast to me. if i am a show off i am proud of it xd
