Victor quietly listened, surprised it was Jordan and that the guy seemed really upset, what could have possibly have happened to the guy to make him like this? the Lizardman remembered the last time they met, in the workout room, Jordan was upset then too...what was going on?

"Itssss alrrigghht Jorrdan, Isssss everrythhingg okk? whhatsss thhe matterr?"

He breathed in deeply, shakily, lips trembling as he formed the words. He was afraid to speak, hesitant to do so, but he needed this. He couldn’t deal with this on his own. He needed to fall back onto someone if he was going to get through it. He was weak, despite what he wanted to believe. The image of that snarling tiger-man barreling down upon he and Alec replayed in his mind. Jamal’s taunts echoed in his head as he felt the weight pressing down on him once again and he screamed out in pain as he was reliving that moment in time as someone experiencing a shell-shocked flashback. His eyes went wide as he gasped for breath.

The realization that he wasn’t in that scenario, but in his duplex, he trembled, staring at his shaking paws. “My legs... I can’t feel my legs…” and suddenly found himself back in his room, breathing raggedly. Victor would be able to hear the fist pounding against the wall as it got louder and louder “That son of a b***h crippled me!”

Seconds of silence passed before Jordan spoke again. “N-n-n-n-no…oooooooo…” he spoke quieter. “I’m not alright…”

The lizardman backed away from the intercom as he heard Jordan scream, then pound on the wall then yelling. Whatever had happened to Jordan, it couldn't have been good, not at all, the other man sounded like a trainwreck, just all over the place emotionally.

"Okk, Jorrdan, I'm ggoingg to ccome overr, jusssst ssstay thherre and rrelaxs, whherre'ssss yourr duplex at?"

He leaned his forehead against the wall, with his paws on either side of him. He was having trouble breathing. It was all happening too fast. Why’d it have to be him?! Why did he have to be left for dead?! Was he the lucky one? He was so afraid. His duplex stuck out like bait for a tiger trap. That maniac could come busting into his home and finish the job if he so felt inclined and no one could stop him from doing the deed. No one could get their in time. Life was only a consolation prize if he had to be crippled for the rest of his life.

“The beach.. my duplex is on the beach..” he replied. “Th-thank you… I’m so scared..”

"Jusssst...don't worry Jorrdan, makke ssurre the doorr isssss unlocckked, you're ggoingg to hhave to let me in, but I'll be thherre assss sssoon as I ccan" Victor said as he didn't even bother to disconnect the line, crawling over to the door and working it open again, then pushing himself out, scuttling his way to the beach, to find Jordan's duplex

Some time later, a short knocking was heard on Jordan's door
"Jorrdan, Itssss Vicctorr"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2007 7:11 pm

He stayed away from the door. There was no way in hell he’d go near that portal of death till he was certain that Victor had arrived. He was huddled in his wheelchair in the corner of his room, waiting… staring. He was panicked that someone would come through if he got close. Someone with sharp fangs and razor-sharp claws. His arms were crossed over his chest and his head lowered into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. He was falling apart.

He startled when Victor knocked then announced himself. Thank god he’d arrived. Jordan was afraid that he wouldn’t make it. His duplex was so far from the village. Anything could happen between there and the beach. Anyone could have been lurking in wait to attack an unsuspecting traveler going where he wasn’t supposed to.

The wheelchair crashed into the side of his bed and then his desk as he scrambled to wheel towards the door only fast enough to unlock the door and let Victor inside before retreating back to the safety of the corner. The door unlocked an opened enough for Victor to push it open the rest of the way, giving him enough time to wheel backwards and away from the portal of death. He stared in dreading anticipation for it to be Victor and not the striped engine of death that stalked the jungle.

“I-it’s open…” he called from across the room.

Victor's claws scratched the doorframe as he worked the doorknob, twisting it and pushing the door open, and slowly start to push his way inside. "Hhey Jorrdan..." Victor stopped as he saw the Dog man's condition. Not only had Jordan had changed since he last saw him, but he was in a wheelchair, reminding him of Alec

"Itssss jusssst me Jorrdan, I chhangged aggain...." Victor explained as he crawled fully into the duplex, letting the door close behind him.
"Jorrdan, ccan you tell me whhat hhappened? hhow you ggot hhurrt?"

Indeed, Victor had changed since their last meeting. Jordan didn’t mean to let out a startled gasp at his even more butchered appearance. What the hell was happening to him? Jordan was momentarily grateful there were only two extra paws coming out of him instead of… two… four… six… too many to count right now! He gripped the armrests tightly as he braced himself. This was supposed to help him feel more at ease?! This wasn’t the time to quibble over who and what. The point was that he wasn’t alone. Jordan wouldn’t move from his corner as he watched Victor scuttle into his duplex.

Victor’s line of questioning was difficult to respond to. He looked down so Victor wouldn’t have to see him cry, though he could see his contorting facial muscles as that look of anxiety was in full force. Jordan was losing himself in incoherent despair as any verbalizations came out skewed and unintelligible. Victor would also notice that Jordan had been shaved of all his fur, leaving it trimmed rather short so that his distorted human features were no longer hidden. He wasn’t in the same stuffy attire that he had been in their first meeting, now dressed in shorts and a t-shirt for comfort in his altered form.

Victor had noticed Jordan's startled gasp and frowned inwardly, but mostly ignored it, crawling over closer to Jordan and looking up at the wheelchair bound man. Even with him looking downward, Victor could see Jordan cry, and could plainly hear the other man's unintelligible babble. Had the labs done something to him or something worse happen? Did he get attacked by Annie or Jamal? Victor guessed at this point that Jordan might not be able to answer these questions as he gripped onto the wheelchair's frame, pulling himself up, getting right up close to Jordan, almost leaning over him as Victor got himself eye to eye with Jordan

"Itssss okk Jorrdan, you'rre not alone, you don't need to be afrraid"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2007 8:14 pm

Teary-eyed pain reflected as he didn’t look away, quivering like a leaf in the wind. “H… he c-c-c-c-c-came out of n…nowhere… oh god…” his eyes went wide with indescribable terror. “We didn’t… we couldn’t… we c-c-couldn’t get away from him… almost to the village… almost there… we have to run… "GO JORDAN GO NOW RUUUUUN!!!"

"Scream fo' me," Jordan repeated those words that haunted him, in a tone that depicted Jamal's sinister nature. It was the best that he could muster as a response "What was dat? I ain't sure I hurd ya righ'..." He rocked himself back and forth in his chair, looking catatonic as such sadistic words and the image of unadulterated, blood-lusting insanity will forever be etched into his mind. That voice haunted him in his dreams, chasing him, laughing maniacally.

Victor frowned deeply, more than slightly disturbed by what Jordan said and how he said it, not all of it seemed something Jordon or anyone else would say normally, it was all twisted and garbled and right now, victor wasn't sure of what to make of it, except that someone must have attacked him and someone else maybe.

The only way Victor felt he could comfort Jordan was to lean closer, and pull the other man into a hug, like he had done before with Jordan in the workout room, holding the other man close. "Quiet now....Rrelaxss...you'rre sssafe now, nobody issss ggoingg to hhurt you Jorrdan"

He tried to explain it the best that he could in his condition. He was scarred, traumatized by his near-death experience. No one could have been expected to have immediately picked up on the who or the why of what he’d said and what it meant, but it wouldn’t come out in plain, coherent terms. That expression of frightened intensity didn’t vanish, even with Victor’s coaxing. It was mildly reassuring to have him there. Jamal was still out there and even with the reassurances that he was safe now, it was hard to believe. Jordan returned the hug, leaning over painfully in the process.

“He’ll find me… he’ll hunt me down and kill me this time.. I woke up alone.. back here… I don’t know what happened or how I’m alive..” he hugged him tighter, sniffling. “He’s out there still… I almost died… and he’ll try to kill again…”

Jordan pulled back and sat up again in his wheelchair, sighing as he looked down at his legs. “I’m afraid to leave my duplex.. he’ll kill me if I leave… I can’t even walk anymore..” he gripped the armrests tight in contempt of the tiger. “I’m so far away from the village and now it feels a million miles away..” he huffed in resignation of his crippled status. “I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t leave. I froze, terrified of what’s outside..”

Victor nodded, letting Jordan hug him in return, gently giving him a few pats on the back before releasing the hug after Jordan pulled back, but still kept close, watching the other man and listening to him talk. So he was attacked.

"Jorrdan...you migghht not be able to walkk now, but you'll gget betterr, you'll hheal, and you'll walkk" Victor said as he put a hand on Jordan's shoulder.
"Nobody isssss ggoingg to kkill you...If you'rre Afrraid to sssstay herre, thhen we sshhould gget you to anothherr duplexss, you ccould sssstay at mine, he ccouldn't find you therre" Victor was worried about Jordan's apparent fear of going outside, was he really that afraid?

Leaving his duplex? He’d be in the village then.. but that involves going outside, in a wheelchair, and making the journey into the colony’s nest of duplexes. He went white as a ghost. The very thought was out of the question, as far as he was concerned. He couldn’t go out, just like he couldn’t walk and until that day he’d be even more vulnerable than usual.

How could Victor be so optimistic that he’d walk again? Just because he was devolving into some subhuman abomination gone wrong, doesn’t make him an authority. He patted the hand on his shoulder, sighing and shaking his head softly. “You have more faith than I do.. even with their resources.. I don’t think it’s possible.. I wouldn’t be confined to this wheelchair if it were possible to walk again..” Yes, the despair of near-death and broken spirit had corrupted his optimism. Conflicting thoughts assaulted him. On one hand, something the labs had created was mauling other subjects, but if it hadn’t been for them, he wouldn’t have survived. Even though Jordan didn’t remember his time in the labs while they repaired his body, h assumed that someone would have come to their rescue. At least someone came to Jordan’s rescue. He blamed himself for anything that had happened to Alec, especially if he had died in that conflict.

How could something so dangerous run rampant doing what he pleases, even endangering the livelihoods of others. He couldn’t protect himself nor Alec and it weighed heavily on his mind. He was promised that he’d be able to defend himself by the end of it. That special surprise in his serum that had caused his body to deform in such an odd manner beyond. Where did he stand? Was Moreau going to be his salvation by the end of his progress or was that old fool Richard… no.. Richard was never right about anything. He was not to be trusted, nothing he’d say was to be trusted.. If Jamal hadn’t mauled him, that insane cat-thing would in a heartbeat…

Jordan remained in silent thought as he patted Victor’s hand, sighing again. “I.. I don’t want to be left alone..” he repeated himself like a broken record “..but… I can’t go out there until it’s safe.. until he’s been caught.. or killed..” he was afraid for Victor too. Could he even defend himself? What if something happened, would he be able to react quickly in that deformed shape? “You’re one of the only few people that doesn’t hate me.. would you really help me..? I don’t know how long I can live like this without someone helping me.. I don’t want to starve out here and I’m not becoming some predator that hunts wild game.. I’m a defenseless dog..” he waved his thick black claws at Victor in a display of mock threat “Ooooo.. I can break the skin.. beware..” He was such a mess of scattered thoughts and self-pity.

Victor also wasn't sure if Jordan would be able to walk again, but with the way things were on the island...who could really know? But Victor didn't need to give Jordan any more to worry about.

"I ggot no Rreassson to hhate you Jorrdan, and of ccourrsssssse I'll hhelp you, We'rre all in thhissss toggethherr. You werre attacckked rrigghht? well whho orr whhateverr attacckked you ccan hhurrt othherrs, whhicchh isss whhy we ougghht to hhelp eacchh othherr out" Victor stopped and crawled off of Jordan's wheelchair, sitting down on the floor as his second mouth opening up and his large lizardtongue sliding out for a moment, tasting the air. Victor was having trouble trying to keep his upper mouth closed while he talked, his upper mouth moving and mimicing the words he was speaking.

"I ccan sssstay withh you sssso you don't hhave to worrrry about beingg alone, but I won't be herre all the time....and eventually you'll hhave to ggo outssside"
