"Of course I brought the animal," he said with a faint, mocking scorn. Oh yes, he would leave
that behind, leave behind all that they needed to complete this experiment. "What do you take me for?"
She sneered, contempt evident in her tone. "After last time I didn't know what to expect from you. After all, the Cosna insident-"
"Shut up," he snarled, suddenly furious. "Once, just once, things get out of hand and-"
"That was more then out of hand, my dear," she said, a hint of smuggness easily discernable in her voice at him rising so quickly to the bait. He heard it, as he was meant to, and almost took the bait again, but with a visable effort reined himself in at the last moment.
"So?" he finally growled, the rage still simmering in his bloodred eyes as he gazed furiously at this woman in front of him. She was always calm, always too calm, always teasing him....
"Where is it?" she asked languidly, finally picking an odd silver tool up from the bench next to her and sliding oversized protective goggles down over her eyes. He lead her to it silently, still angry enough that he didn't trust himself to speak to her. He didn't want to explode again, it would give her more amunition-
Finally, as they reached the cramped little container she smiled a true smile, her oddly pointed teeth glinting ominously in the faint, sickly, artificial light of the room. "Now then," she crooned as she reached down to pick up the quivering ball of white fur, "don't worry. It will all be over very soon now...."
Quickly she adjusted her grip on the cat, holding it farther away from her as she activated a control on the tool. Here it went, then. Hopefully this time....
