''You may I suppose, Sayeh.'' The naga answered as he reached for another of the sandwiches on the tray. As he sat there, he wondered what she was to ask, and hoped it would not be too personal. Noticing that she had finished her drink, he once again stood up and looked for the bottle-opener. ''I know I put it here...'' Cassius murmured to himself as his hands traced the table and his crimson hues searched the floor angrily.

"I won't mind if you choose not to answer this question, Cassius.. but I was merely wondering.." Her violet eyes glanced at the naga and his angry state of being. "Has this always been the type of lifestyle you have led?" Hearing his outburst seemed to concern her. Maybe she had gone too far.

'''Led this lifestyle?''? What do you mean?'' He stopped to blink, a little confused at the feline. He disliked feeling confused; it made him feel weak and useless. The naga continued to search for the bottle-opener, and finally located it under the table, peeking out from under the rug. He snatched it up with a quiet cry of triumph, and opened the new bottle of wine. ''Would you like to taste it Sayeh?'' Cassius placed the opener on the table next to the tray, and poured a small splash of the wine into her glass. ''There. If you want some more, just tell me.''

Cassius stopping caused her ears to flatten lightly against her head and her gaze to fall. She was trending carefully. Before she responded, a smile was on her red lips. "Thank you very much." She took her glass into her fingers, twirling it with a light gesture with her fingers. Her eyes were focused on the drink. "I am just curious. I know you must not have lived here your whole life. Is the way you live here how you lived before you came here?" She quickly took a sip to try and keep herself from flat out asking what she meant exactly by her question.

His eyes widened a little as she asked him about his past, and thoughts and memories ran through his mind. The naga shook his head, and answered her quietly, sitting back down. ''No. My life back in my hometown was....much more different than this. I was not allowed to paint, I was forced into doing things that I did not wish to do.'' Cassius looked up at Sayeh, yet his scarlet hues seemed empty again, as if looking right through her. He slowly tugged at the table cloth, deep in thought.

Sayeh looked at him extremely confused. "You were forced into things you did not wish to do?" Then how the hell could he be so nice to her?! Frustation was eating away at her but her turned her head away. Slowly she asked quietly. "May I ask if you had a master?" With such a look in his eyes, Sayeh was worried for him but she knew this would bet he safest time to ask.

He looked at her, wondering silently, before lowering his head. ''No. I did not have a master. I had a father. A controlling, abusive, piece of filth.'' The words were spoke with an icy tone, anger hidden in it's depths. ''He belived men to be much better than women, and that men should be strong and hide their emotions. I was a disappointment to him. So he was anxious to push me away to a house and family of my own.'' Cassius rubbed his fingers against his temples, feeling a little tired. ''He disliked my painting, my reading. He disliked how I thougth of nature. We were very different, by looks, and by mind.''

Sayeh could not believe what she had heard. Being raised in such manners, why was Cassius the way he was now? She couldn't understand it. But her eyes caught sight of something that meant more to her. Seeing him massage his temples, Sayeh rose from her chair. "Pardon my questions. They were out of line. Please, may I escort you to your room? I am certain today has been long for you and a rest before preparing such a feast as you had described earlier will require more strength. Please, Cassius?" Her violet eyes begged of him as she came to his side looking up at him.

Sighing, the naga shook his head wearily. '' They were fine.'' He answered her quietly. ''No Sayeh. I will make my own way to my room, after I clear away the meal.'' He turned to the feline, looking onto her eyes, and shook his head again. ''Please, I must ask you to leave now. Return to your house, make yourself ready, and I will come to the house later to collect you. Goodbye.'' Cassius turned away from her, and began to collect up the empty glasses and the plate of food. ''Must I escort you to the door?''

A look of worry and hurt came over her expression. "May I at least clean this up for you before I go to give you more time to rest?" She did not once approach him. Infact she had backed away slightly. A fear filled her heart. She had gone too far. He felt so cold to her, so lost. The feeling stung at her soul.

His voice sounded much more stern this time, and slightly angry. ''No Sayeh. I ask you one more time; Please leave. I am tired, and do not wish to argue with you. Just leave. I will collect you tonight.'' The naga collected all the crockery and left the room, leaving the feline all alone.

Sayeh's ears folded back and her eyes closed. Her hands removed the robe he had given her, folding it up quickly and she left it on the stool. She remained quiet and left quickly. She nearly ran out of the room, and to the door, silently as possible, openning it and closing it behind her as she hurried home. She had messed up.

Down in the kitchen, as the naga washed the china carefully, he scolded himself quietly. ''I shouldn't have been so mean to her...She only wished to help. She made me that lovely cloak, and that male hurt her...When I fetch her tonight, I will meet that male, and he will regret what he did.'' This is what Cassius said to himself, and he made a solemn vow to Sayeh that he would help her and protect her from now on. When the dishes were done and put away, he staggered up to his room and lay down on his bed, quickly falling into a restless, dream-less sleep.

Along the walk Sayeh stared at the ground. "Cassius, may I ask you have mercy for Sir Aussi? He was only reminding me of my place." The feline swayed her tail behind her as she seemed to be holding back a question that had been getting at her now for along time. However, today revealed how much more she needed to bite her tongue.

Before the Feast
Smells were drifting everywhere, mixed up with other scent. Duck, goose, chicken and turkey were just a few of the smells and foods for tonight. The spaniel ran from stove to stove, gently correcting and encouraging the other Anthros of the Tower as they helped make the food. ''Julian, can you please check on the goose and the brownies? Chance, be careful with that soup!'' Sam dashed over to the raccoon who was trying to mix the soup. ''Chance, I think that's okay. Why don't you go wash and get ready for our guest?'' He sighed, and hurried Chance out of the kitchen. ''Julian, how is the food?''
‘‘It’s good! Shall I take it out now? It seems nice and tender.'' answered the bat to the spaniel's questions. ''Okay. Can you pass me the cloth?'' He wrapped a thick cloth round his hand and carefully pulled out the tray of goose, and set it on the shining counter next to the sink. ''The brownies seem to be ready too. The top is nice and just a little crispy.'' Julian pulled out the other tray and set it next to it. ''If we leave them to cool while we wash and get dressed, we can set them out before they get back I reckon.'' He nodded and watched the spaniel smile wearily and walk out. The bat smiled, looking out of the window at the moon, and then followed Sam.
The raccoon bounced up the stairs to his room, and flopped onto his pile of cushions. He snuggled into them until he found what he was looking for. A pastel colored panda in a pair of dark green stripey pajamas, and slippers to match. ‘’Ames! You were still sleeping! I told you to go and get dressed. Now hurry up.’’ He said sternly, and put the panda next to a miniature oak wardrobe on the floor. ‘’When I’m ready I’ll come and choose your clothes.’’ He picked up the Panda and took off the pajamas that it was wearing, before putting it carefully into a basin of warm water. He waited a moment, before smiling and taking off his clothes and climbing into his bath. He turned on the taps and squirted in some bubble-bath, and climbed in. He cleaned himself thoroughly, and when he was sure he was done, emptied the bath and wrapped himself in a pink fluffy towel, and dried himself. He dressed in a pink velvety shirt and black denim jeans, knowing he had to look nice. The raccoon brushed his hair slowly, until he was satisfied. He dried his panda and dressed it in a white tuxedo, and, placing it in his pocket and grabbing a book for himself from his book-case, walked down the stairs to the blossom gardens where they were to be eating.
