"I most certainly am a top...in more than one way." Jeffery smiled; usually people didn't notice him sneak up on them; he wasn't sure here though. People with criminal problems tended to be more alert. "And I see you're plenty moved in already. Been here a while? What'd they get you for?"
He hadn't brought much with him; a small bag of clothes sufficed. Most of what he deemed the "necessary"supplies had been taken by the police.
Jeffery knew that he wasn't very excited about having a roommate (at least, not a platonic roommate); however, that didn't worry him. He was more concerned about how his other minds would react. His doctors told him they probably wouldn't come out again, but he wasn't too sure himself. He knew that they came out a few times when he was in psychiatric care; anything like that here, he didn't know what would happen.
He threw his bag on the upper bunk, the pulled himself up after it. "So, you don't have any creepy problems I should know about, do you? Sleep walking, sexual perversion, sadism...you know, "Roommate from Hell" kinds of things. Because if you do...well, we'll see who's leaving first."

((Aw, I'm sorry Mie. I just have a minor grudge against Texans 'cause my Ethics teacher from Hell was a Texan....she actually moved back to Texas this year, but last year she was such a conservative pain in the arse. No offense meant! sweatdrop

By the by, I'm just curious about continuity problems. I mean, some people have been at RRC for a few months, others for only a few days. Did they all used to have their own rooms, but are now being sardined together, or what....?

I'll post in a bit, just need to finish the homework. stressed ))

To many people, Tristan's indifference towards the boy who claimed to have whored himself out and who was obviously not heterosexual may have seemed odd. They would probably wonder how Tristan could be possibly 'comfortable' with such a roommate. However to him, the consequences of such a roommate didn't matter to him. Whether he was 'hit on' by a gay guy (the common homophobe's nightmare) was the least of his worries. He had lost everything, his family, his home, his future... what happened to him now... almost seemed useless to worry about. Things that would have bothered him such as popularity, self image, people's thoughts about him.... had all melted away the moment he found them gone.

Aiden's smile was uplifting, even though Tristan could tell that there were some stronger emotions flowing through that boy that he knew he would never understand. He offered a fragile smile but after a moment the smile dimmed. It's light having no fuel to keep it going, like a candle without wick.

He followed the smaller framed teen at a casual pace, his blue eyes seeming to wander into nothingness before focusing back on a possible destination. Drawing in a deep breath, Tristan enjoyed the scent of the outside world he barely knew. He tossed a glance up to the stars and then regretted the image immediately. He was not a religious person... and the reasurance that his family was in 'heaven' only made him uncomfortable and shortly after their death, he began to have bittersweet feelings about the night sky that everyone seemed to look up to for guidance. It had never given him anything but dim light... and wasted whispers of dreams.

When they arrived at room three, Tristan snapped back to the present circumstance. He looked over at Aiden before his eyes were drawn to a large bag left next to the door and a guitar case. Seeing the oddly shaped box with his favorite instrument oddly placed outside the room of his 'mental rehab center' was so strange to him that he let out a small huff of air that could have been taken as an attempt to laugh, or simply a disbeliving sigh. "...She made them send my guitar...." He said, sounding amused, more so talking to himself than to Aiden, not realizing the boy would not know who 'she' was.

He stepped over to his things and quickly swung the bag over his shoulder (with what he assumed was his clothing) and picked up the guitar case in his opposite hand. He then looked back up to Aiden, his expression apologetic. "Sorry... If I seem spacey tonight. I'm not normally like this... " He said, weakly trying to defend his 'normal' personality.

Unlike what Kindred expected, Abby did not reach for his file when he did not properly introduce himself. Her brown eyes seemed to scan his face carefully. "So, what happened?" She pressured gently. She wanted his side of the story before she read what the polices' version was. She normally found the boy's story to make more logical sense than the simple black and white views of the police officers. Turning her back on him for a moment, she walked over to a water cooler at the side of the room and she filled up a cup of water for Kindred and then set off to find the ever dissapearing boxes of pain relief (a result of her lack of organization skills).

"You can tell me anything you like.... nobody gets punished here for having opinions or feelings of any kind." She offered. "To start.... what did the officer do to make you break his nose?" She asked casually. "Did he desereve it?"

The way she asked him would have probably not gone over well with the police. She always felt that they deserved whatever the student inflicted on them the moment they became rough.

((^_^; Dont worry about the trivial things like whether or not their clothing is there already or not... just make things up. xD nobody will notice.

And yes, students who were here previously used to have the room to themselves... (but they always knew that one day another student would be moving in)..... does that work for everyone? ))

Kindred still didn't make eye contact as Abby talked to him. But her kindess was not unexpected or surprising. For a long time people had asked him how he felt and how he was doing in those candy sweet voices.

"I got.... well, the pyschologist says I have problems with authority figures and have tendancies to lash out when I feel threatened." he quoted from the doctor he had seen before coming to RRC. They had gotten him in their a couple times before the authorities decided that Kindred needed a more open enviroment.

The young man flexed his right hand that still covered the scar on his forearm. He usually wore long sleeved shirs but had little time to change when they moved him. It was this rush to get him to RRC that caused the 'problem'. He'd fallen asleep in the car and was aburptly woken up. he forgot where he was or where he was going. When the guard shook his shoulder roughly Kindred's first waking insticnt was a right jab. The chaos that ensued in the van was the cause of Kindred's own bleeding nose.

He reahced up and removed the wad of cotton. The wound seemed healed for now and was if anything just sore. he held the cotton in his hand. Glanced around for a garbage can and then decided to just to sit awkwardly with it.

The other boy’s voice trickled down his spine as if it belonged to a ghost rather than another human being, and at once his face paled in terror before it flushed red with deep, deep embarrassment. Liam turned around to face Jeffery, and he was quite the sight as he hugged onto his large stuffed bunny - a six foot tall man with a toy companion.

“Ah, um...” He stammered, not sure if he understood Jeffery’s comment right, though he seemed to get the questions loud and clear. “I’ve been here two months.” He knew exactly how long he had been here, from the day to the minute, it was almost as if he were an alcoholic - which probably would have been less humiliating to him than his real reasons, though he managed to make them sound normal enough. “And mugging. I ah, fell into a bad crowd.”

That was the short version anyway. He looked over to his desk, where a scrapbook full of magazine clippings was open, having been left to dry. Next to it was a glue stick and a pair of kiddie scissors. Apparently, the general consensus was that he shouldn’t have any sharp, pointy objects, just in case he wanted to damage himself in anyway. “And um, none of those things, really.”

Briefly, he paused, then, just after it seemed that he had finally regained his coloring, blushed again as he realized he was still holding his dear R.W. Stowing it away quickly beneath the mess of blankets on his bed, he peered up at his new roommate through the bars of the bed, trying to get a good look at one of the mysterious newcomers - not that he was that versed with the other boys either. “So.......” he said at last, “What about you? You seem like a normal guy...” Yeah, hopefully.

((I checked out your RP Mie, it sounds cool biggrin ))

Abby saw him remove the cotton and with a faint smile she held out her hand to recieve and dispose of it. She thought for a moment about what he had said before she spoke again, her tone no less friendly than before, simply more curious. "All authority figures?" She asked inqusitively. "Or just ones that have unagreeable rules?"

She offered him the cup of water and the tylenol in trade for the piece of cotton as her eyes seemed to study him. Although it was sometimes unnerving for 'her kids' , she could tell a lot from a person's body language and from their physical condition.

Justin let his eyes follow Allumen out of the room before he decided it was time to leave himself. The tall boy stood and then brushed a hand over his peach fuzzed dirty blond hair before letting it fall limp to his side. He wasn't sure how to react to being roomed with Allumen. The other boy looked rather girlish, however he thanked the gods that he didn't act like the pink haired freak. He just hoped that this kid would either leave him alone or at least not act weird around him. He didn't like abnormal people, they made him uneasy, especially gays. His dad said that they were always so nice because they were probably dying of aids or some other STD and that its best to avoid him.... and now he seemed to be surrounded by them. Letting a sigh leave his lips, he headed out of the main cabin and went to catch up to Allumen. So far, he had been a jack-a** to almost everyone he had met and he knew it, though he didn't care about the others. He would only make an attempt to be civil with this guy because he was his roommate.

When he got to the door of his room, he knew that the other boy was already in the room and so he paused akwardly before raising a hand to knock on the door. "Is it safe to come in?" He asked , trying to be polite. "I don't wanna barge in on ya..." He explained and then glanced around him out of nervous habit. Even though he seemed to clash with most people he met, he didn't mean to be so harsh all of the time. of coarse, he was always too proud to apologize or admit this to anyone.

Aiden nodded amicably, his usual light smile on his lips. "S'okay. No one's themselves on their first day in a new place - especially when their coming to a place like this," he said conversationally. He turned forward toward the door and turned the doorknob, opening the door rather slowly out of habbit (back home there was nearly always a baby or five asleep - or not so asleep - in one room or another and Aiden had learned the best ways not to wake them). "Sorry if it's kind of a mess. Mum says I'm a bit of a clutter bunny - whatever that means."

"Kind of a mess" was a bit of an understatement. There were posters of bands (second hand, from the look of them, and most were in poor condition) on the walls as well as some sheets of paper that had bars on them and various scribbled notes on those - sheet music obviously scribbled haphazardly - tacked above a wooden desk set in one corner. Some articles of clothing lay strewn in piles on the floor and there was evidence all sorts of half-finished projects and odd jobs. Fortunately, the room didn't smell as bad as it looked. In fact, it smelled rather like a (soy) vanilla scented candle - which could be found on the desk.

"Make yourself at home," Aiden pronounced happily as he walked fully into the room, a broad smile on his lips. "Anyway... anything new makes people nervous," he said, continuing the previous conversation.

Nervous? Was that what he felt? He mentally disagreed though he couldn't place his finger on exactly what emotion he felt....if any at all. When he stepped into the room he was almost relieved to see the clutter. If it had been very clean and organized, he would feel uncomfortable to touch or move anything.

"Make yourself at home"

Tristan found the spare bed and took a few steps over to it. With a flop, his clothing was tossed onto the bed and the guitar was set down with slightly more care. "I feel like this is summer camp..." He said in an amused tone of voice, though like always, there was some distance to it. His mind was floating elsewhere. "... I wonder if its really going to hit me..." He started, his eyes refusing to leave his guitar. "Reality, I mean."

As he spoke, he removed his clothing out of his bag and to his surprise, a small collection of photographs also fell out. His eyes narrowed slightly when they focused on the subjects in the portraits, however he simply pushed them back into a neat pile and found a place for them, face down, on a nearby shelf, not paying them too much mind.

Realizing that he wasn't leaving the conversation open for very much, he looked back up to Aiden as he selected more comfortable clothes to change into. "....How long do you think you'll be here for?" He asked... not thinking of Aiden as dangerous, he figured the boy wouldnt be there for very long. Or at least not as long as he was going to be there for.

Allumen smiled and nodded. "This is your room too..." He shrugged and managed a small smile. There was an awkward silence after that, as Allumen wasn't very good with small talk. He settled for re-organizing his things, just to give himself something to do. It was odd sharing a room with somebody. Well, someone he didn't know at all, or particularly like so far.

Kindred accepted the cup of water and very slowly gave her the cotton ball. It felt rude to make her dispose of it but he probably seemed stupid just holdng the wad. "I don't take meds." he said when she offered him he tylenol. "Unless... its life threatening, and I don't think this is." he quickly added not wanting to sound ungrateful.

Kindred's eyes darted around the room. He wondered what his living arrangments would be. He was sentenced there indefinately and so it could be a long time. He hoped for a single room. When he entered he thought there as an even number of boys already. So he was either in a single or a triple.

"So when do we get to the part where you ask me if my father hugged me enough or if I hear voices?" he said with a forced chuckle. His weak attempt at making conversation.

Seamus distractedly packed up all of the stuff that had magically accumulated across his temporary room, and shoved it into his suitcase. Stray papers with half-finished doodles, boxers, and random t-shirts were all tossed in haphazardly. Zipping it closed, he heaved it off of the cot and began to roll it towards his new room and dormmate. As he wandered down the hallway, he wondered why they couldn't just continue to use the rooms that they had been assigned. Sure his temporary room was cramped as hell, and had little storage space and no desk, but at least it was solitary, right? But then again, "opening up" and "making friends" and all that rot seemed like the theme for this place, so he shouldn't have been suprised.

He passed Allumen and Justin's room, sparing the two a quick glance. He chuckled under his breath at the awkward tension in the room. Since all the other doors in the hallway were closed, he had no clue what the other guys were up to, or whether or not they were even in this part of the Center.

I wonder if Orpheus is in there..., Seamus mused as finally reached his own room. Not wanting to interupt something, or even piss off his new roomie (he'd heard enough horror stories of roommates from Hell, thankyouverymuch! Although he could retaliate if needed...), he rapped his knuckles on the door three times, waited a few seconds, and then opened the door.

Aiden, for his part, chose to ruffle some papers from his desk before selecting one and then slumping down on his own, overly messy bed. There were also quite a few stuffed animals and such strewn about the matress, all of them looking particularly worse for wear - as did everything else Aiden owned. Even without the little introductory back story heard earlier in the meeting, Aiden was obviously poor.

"Mmmm... dunno," he replied, smiling. "I've been here for about a month now... but nothing much seems to have happened," he said, and shrugged. He didn't seemed bothered by this, however. Whoring himself out for his family didn't really sound like the type of thing that would put someone in a place like this... but one never did really know.

((Hahaha... By the way, I luff Aiden SO much. <3 His problem isn't that he's hormonal or that he whored himself out (well, those are problems but not so severe)... It's that he sees those actions as being perfectly normal ("wouldn't you do that for your family?"). He's such a self-sacrificing little oddball. x3 *luffluff*

Annnd... I'll post Orpheus in a different post (because I'm already taking up too many posts so I might as well take up more xD ).))
