Can't belive i read the whole conversation...

But it doesnt sound bad. Im thinking more like Tekken or Mortal Kombat along the lines...

Crawleymang: so I remembered a wrestling game I played where.. depending on what you do.. how you do it.. or whatever.. the storyline could change and you could be going down a different path.

...But I know i know where that idea pretty much came from...

That's just it Fox.

All you have to do is fight.

The game hasn't changed. If anything it's just been jazzed up.

But all you do is fight... and the advance storyline is based upon the results of the fight.

Although its been long since last time i followed a storyline...I could try get back on it...

Thing is, Fox is kinda like a lone guy, with no ultimate goal (like to venge someone or something huge) and he barely knows anyone in Gaia.

His only purpose in the tournament would be to win and get money and some reputation. And that there isn't much of a story.

I suppose i'd have to get someones interest/attention and join them on their "journy" or something. Thats if i decided to follow or participate in some story.

I suppose the stories wont be too complicated, right?

Or that depends?

It depends on just what kind of character Fox is.

I mean you'd say he'd be only in it for the money.

That's understandable. But.. consider this.

Alright let's say.. you were in the very first tournament. You made it to wherever but you still lost. So after the tournament you left to go train.

Journey storyline = (basic) Fox goes looking for opponents to get better. Except.. since journey story isn't a "tournament" you might end up fighting people in out of the ordinary scenarios. (like fighting in a burning building, compared to just fighting on an arena platform)

And so your reasons for fighting or being in the tournament might gradually change. But your character would still have his base motif.

Like.. at the end of the journey storyline you might've been able to save people of a village from being slaughtered but you couldn't save the village itself from being burned down.

Come tournament time ... you might be in the tournament to get money for the village.

See where I'm going with this? It's just one of many things that could happen.

It's a tournament, cleverly disguised as a well-thought out plotline.

I think whats cool about this is how the outcome of the RPC varies depending on the situation.
