Front door, pffffft. Where would be the fun in that? "No. It had t' be done today," he replied decidedly. End of THAT conversation. He smiled as she correctly guessed the day, taking a step forward. "Aye, 'tis. Mum told me..." he trailed off, smile wavering as a pang of hesitant insecurity hit him. Was he really going to go through with this? What would she think about him after tonight? "She told me that on Valentine's Day, men get their ladies tokens." "In order to get in their pants" was the part of Inle's explanation that went unsaid. He didn't want to get in Vidya's pants--not that she was wearing any at the moment--but he did care about her, and really, one could not have too many shinies.

His feathers ruffled in an outward display of nervousness as he reached into a pocket of his coat, digging through it for a moment before removing his closed hand and holding it up. It slowly opened, allowing a silver pendant on a length of blue ribbon to dangle down.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Vid."

"Uh...Okay?" Vidya blinked at his comment about it having to be done today...now she was thoroughly lost. She watched him curiously, trying to figure out what on Gaia he was so nervous about...everything about his stance just screamed it. Men get their Ladies tokens...? That made sense, as her Father had gotten her Mother something earlier today as well. But then...did that mean that he considered her his Lady...? Her silverish eyes gave him another curious but strangely shy look-over, though she couldn't hide the blush that had started getting more prominent on her cheeks. Still, she couldn't bring hersef to say anything; until she saw the pendant once it dangled freely from his fingers.

"Oh..." She breathed out in awe, her eyes widening slightly when she saw the beautiful silver pendant and ribbon. Right now, it was the single most beautiful thing she'd ever seen... "Its...Its gorgeous! Oh, Thank you!" Vidya was smiling joyfully at him in thanks, her hands clapping together in her usual gesture of glee. Opening her eyes, she looked at the pendent again, then, as if suddenly deciding something, she gathered up all of her hair and moved in such a way to suggest quite clearly that she wanted him to put it on her.

While Vidya was not HIS lady--well, he did consider her his, but not in that sense, really--she was A lady and the only one he was close with. Certainly the only one he would get a gift for. His smile grew as she turned interesting shades of purple. He preened proudly as she made girly noises over the gift, happily stepping closer at the inviting gesture. He wrapped the ends of the ribbon around her neck, having to press closer in order to peer around her head to see what he was doing. Once he had decided it was knotted well enough that it wouldn't come off without the aid of a scissor, he took a small step back.

Impulse and inspiration struck at the same time. He vaguely recalled a scene in a movie he had watched a while ago. A man was standing near a woman, very much like he and Vidya were standing now, and words were said, and the woman was dipped and thoroughly kissed. That's all he saw of it before whoever had been in control of the remote had proclaimed the movie "gross" and changed it in a fit of immature disgust.

Oh, he wouldn't. He COULDN'T. Or would he? Could he?

The answer was made obvious as Tybalt wrapped an arm around Vidya's waist, dipped her towards the ground, and placed a big, cheesy kiss on her lips--just long enough to get his point across and without the overly dramatic emotion he had seen in the film--before straightening, smiling goofily. Tybalt had stolen a variety of things in his short life, but this was the first time he had ever stolen a kiss.

Vidya couldn't help but blush as she stood there, partially leaning against him while he tied the pretty blue ribbon around her neck. When he stepped back, she lowered her head a bit and lifted her hand, running her fingers over the silver pendent. Her attention was on her gift, so it was obvious she was startled when she felt his arm snake around her waist. Her own arms came flying up around his neck on instinct once she felt him press against her to dip her, and any question she might have brought up about the situation was stifled quite thoroughly by his kiss.

Her silver eyes were wide with surprise as she stared at him for a moment or two. But then, to her utter surprise she felt herself relax in his grasp; she even closed her eyes. More surprising than that was the fact that she only happily returned the kiss with that of her own until he ended it and straightened them both.

Once straightened, she looked quite blank and very much speechless over the whole thing. That...that actually felt nice...and it was nothing like what happened on Christmas Eve; she didn't feel much when it happened then. She felt her heart flutter, her stomach twisting in a pleasant manner...that really did make her happy! Deep down in some hidden part of herself, that fact bothered her to no end. "...H-Happy Valentines Day...?" She breathed out uncertainly, those words being the only thing her mind could string together at the moment. Suddenly, she shook her head to forcefully clear it, then looked back up at Tybalt, her expression less blank and more of the way she normally was.

"Yes, Happy Valentines Day!" She chirped out happily, tightening her arms around him to hug him, nuzzling him softly as she did. "I love it! I'm so happy, thank you!" Her voice was sincere; she really did mean it. She loved both of her gifts, even though admitting to liking the one made a part of her blush though confused.

Had Tybalt been more feline, he might have purred with contentment. Giftage AND kiss had been acheived! He felt rather pleased with himself, with the world at large--the happiness he'd felt for the past few months increased drastically. Vidya was a good kisser. Tybalt smiled, indulging in a hug for a few minutes before untangling himself and stepping back.

A red-dusted finger traced over the scar on Vidya's cheek. "Yer quite welcome," he said softly. "Get ye t' bed now, I'll see ya another day." With that he winked and swaggered back towards the window, opened it and pushed himself out of the room, flying into the night.

Happy Valentine's Day, indeed.

Valentine's Effects
Oh geez, not again!

Like she had after the event at Christmas, Vidya sat in front of her mirror, staring at her own reflection. Like she had after the event at Christmas, she was wearing her simple nightgown and her hair down for the moment, but she had also just begun to braid it, like she had after Christmas. The only difference between the event at Christmas and now, was that she was a few months older...and she now had a trinket to show her troubles. Tybalt had invaded her room on Valentines Day, and, though highly out of character for him, had given her another kiss. This time though, he'd given her a little pendent, which was still tied around her neck.

She didn't want to take it off, she rather liked the pendent. She liked the blue ribbon that was tied so tigtly she'd need a pair of scissors to get it off, and she liked the little silver heart at the end. Somehow, it blended in with her skin and her colour scheme...and yet, to her, it managed to stand out more than anything. Still, she stared at herself in the mirror, then sighed.

"I still don't get what the big deal is." She grumbled, getting to her feet. Relationships were silly, kisses were pointless...why was there such a big fuss about something that ultimately only left you with wet lips? With a little scoff, she went straight to bed.

I caught it!
But...you didn't catch the glass...

Vidya yawned, leaning her chin in her blue hand. She'd been getting so tired lately...it just wasn't fair! Not to mention she was stuck babysitting, to boot. Definately unfair. Tired and Babies usually never mixed...especially if that baby was your bouncing little infant brother who had no greater joy than eating his own ears or your headwings.

Still, she had to watch him! It was her duty as an older sister and as a member of the Love family. So damnit, she was going to watch him! However, her attention was wavering quickly, and the little boy seemed to understand that...which meant he was going to try and get in as much trouble as possible without actually getting into any trouble at all.

With a quiet squeal, Aurion whipped out his little hand at a glass of water that was near him. First swipe was a miss. After glancing at Vidya, he put his ear in his mouth and tried again. Another miss. He glanced back at Vidya...still no reaction. She was about to fall asleep, yay! Grinning in determination, he reached out with a swatting hand...

And hit the glass. It waddled for a bit, wiggling its way to the edge of the table. Aurion's bouncing did the final act, and the glass went sliding off of the, a squeal of joy from the baby was enough to wake up the sleepy tale.

With a gasp, Vidya dove forward to catch the glass as it fell. She closed her eyes in the dive on instinct, and she felt something rest in her hands. She caught it! She caught it before---

SMASH

Her eyes flew open in surprise, staring at the pieces of glass that now littered the ground. If the glass shattered...what was it that she caught? Blinking, she looked down at her hands.

The water, that had been in the glass, rested in her hands in a perfectly formed ball.

Vidya Love
The weather had been crazy as of late...warm one night, downright cold the next...it was starting to bother her. Her! Vidya, of all people! Really though, she just wanted spring to come for good, to stay and make way for summer. Alas, her wish had yet to come true, for once more it was freezing cold outside...so cold she just couldn't get warm or comfortable.

Thus, like she did during the real winter, she went to bed in her layered kimono, using the two layers of fabric more like a bathrobe than anything. It was what she wore to bed on cold nights, and it was comfortable for her. When she had finally fallen asleep, dressed in her layered kimono underneath two blankets and beside her large-winged brother, she finally found a relief from the cold real world...

"We're here!" Vidya said, her hands and forehead pressed up against the window of the car, a wide, gleeful grin on her lips. Outside of the now parked car was a vast expanse of beach, followed closely by calm crystalline waters which gently rolled in and out across the shore line. In no time at all, Vidya was out of the car and running bare foot across the clean sand, her arms spread out wide as if to catch all the rays of sun that she could. Still smiling, she stopped running once she met the shore, her feet just outside of the tide's reach. With a wide, rather graceful sweep of her body, Vidya spun around to face back towards the car...which was nowhere to be seen. Instead of the car, she was looking at a handful of of her friends, plus her brother.

"C'mon, don't just stand there!" She urged them, waving one of her blue arms over her head. They looked hesitant, whether because of the area or because of their company together it was difficult to say...but eventually, one by one, they walked towards her. Once they were close enough, Vidya herself closed the distance between them, excitedly motioning towards the water with her hand. "Isn't it beautiful?" Her voice was cheery, but filled with a sense of awe. As she spoke, she removed the towel that had been around her waist, kneeling down to spread it out on the sand for safekeeping.

"Aye, 'tis." Tybalt agreed, his stare over the calm waters uncharacteristically uneasy. "Just...don't go near the water" He warned her, his sapphire eyes narrowed as he looked at her. Whatever the reason for his warning, he meant it.

"Yeah..." Lance spoke next, though very hesitantly. "I hate to admit it, but I agree with the featherduster..." Funny. Even in her dreams they didn't get along... Regardless, Lance stepped foreward, and put one of his clawed hands gently upon her shoulder. "Vidya, you have to stay away from that water."

Adonis, Jiro, Shauna, Armel, Levi...everyone there, everyone who was at the beach with her. Everybody had the same thing to warn her about; it was all to stay away from the water. But why would she? The weather was perfect, the water was calm and even...they were at the beach, she had every right to go into the water! Besides, wasn't water something she constantly yearned for?

One by one, her friends left the beach, either turning and walking away from her on their own free will and fading into the distance, or fading where they stood, watching her intently. Before long, Vidya was completely alone on a beautiful summer's day, dressed in only a bathing suit and standing on the most beautiful beach to ever have existed. For a moment she struggled with herself, with the warnings her dearest friends had given her...but in the end, it was her yearing for the water that won out, that made her take the first hesitant step towards the shore. Before she knew it, her bare toes just barely touched the line of the darker sand, the very sand that was subjected to the gently rolling tide.

"...There's nothing wrong with this water." Vidya told herself, looking down at the darker sand. "I won't swim far...I'll only go to my knees..." Naturally she was speaking to no one; she was alone on this beach. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and stepped forward. What she didn't see, however, was the way a dark, almost swamp-like colour wisped and danced out from underneath each foot, polluting the beautiful lake water with every step she took. By the time she was in the water to her knees, the swamp-like colour had taken over about a six foot diameter around her...and yet she still didn't open her eyes.

When she did, it had something to do with the searing pain of her hands. The dark, murky water around her began to bubble and twist slowly, and her hands...her hands were
melting! Speechless with shock and pain, Vidya slowly lifted her burning hands, watching the blue skin bubble and rot, eventually dripping slowly and thickly into the dark water at her knees. Her mouth opened in a silent scream, staring impossibly wide-eyed at the murky water that seemed to eat up her melted flesh hungrilly.

A laugh, short, sweet...and loaded with terrible darkness. It peirced through the strangely silent air, and suddenly, the pain in her hands stopped and the water no longer bubbled...though it was still very dark. But that didn't matter...her skin had returned! The laugh chimed again, this time from directly behind her.

Frozen with fear, Vidya stared foreward. Out of the corners of both her eyes came blue shapes, ones that quickly formed themselves into darker blue arms. Slowly, the arms curved back towards her, as if whatever was behind her was trying to capture her in its cold embrace. Somehow finding her voice, she screamed.

"SWIM, VIDYA!" Came the almost barked command from a very familiar voice. Upon hearing it, her fear seemed to snap and her body moved...if only to elbow the thing behind her backwards, ducking under its arms as it fell. But she couldn't swim yet, not yet...instead, she splashed forwards, trying to run into the deeper parts of the water. Still the murky colours followed her. Still the creature began to stalk after her.

Before she knew it, she'd made it to the edge of a gorge; her toes clinging to the edge of the no longer sandy ground. Somehow, she was still able to stand, with her head and shoulders above the water. Turning back to face her foe, another scream lodge itself in her throat. The hands...those cold, dark hands...they were right there, reaching out for her! As the creature lunged for her throat, Vidya fell backwards...

...And woke in cold sweat, her fists clenched so tightly she'd broken the skin on one of her palms, just enough for the blood to show through, but not enough to actually pour from the nail marks. Ignoring this, Vidya shivered and rolled onto her side, tears rolling down her purple flushed cheeks as a result of her most vivid dream yet. After a moment or two of crying silently out of terror, she slowly and carefully got out of bed, changing from her now uncomfortable sweat-covered kimono to a pair of pajamas that were actually Mieke's.

When she climbed back into bed, Vidya made sure to grab one of her plushies, and to huddle closer to her brother than she had been earlier that night, regardless of his flailing limbs. With a slow sigh, Vidya eventually lulled herself back to sleep...and her hand remained firmly closed around the silver pendent that permanently hung from a blue ribbon around her neck.

From then until now
Time sure flies!

Due to complete lack of time and poor planning on my part, Huni has agreed to let me post, in point form, what happened to Vidya story-wise between the dream post and the time she goes into a coma for the metaplot.

I'm very very sorry, and I'll make entries in my personal guild and link it back to here once I have the time to catch up on all this writing!

Since the dreams, Vidya has:

+ Practiced with water more. After catching the water but not the glass, she wanted to know what else she could do. Thus, she practices and plays with it as often as possible.
+ However, this had made her exhaustion worse. Thanks to practicing her powers, she started to become overtired and sore all over.
+ Regardless of how sore she was, she still tried to get out. She met Lance, Elena, Armel and Khali in the stationary store, went out with Levi a few times...once to help him get funds for his ship (illegally, naturally), and again to go to a party with him.
+ She discovers its her magic thats making her so tired...so she tries to stop playing with it as often, to see if that would help. It does, but only slightly. Vidya discovers the wonder of energy drinks and advil.
+ Aurion grew to a toddler, so life is a little more hectic. Okay. A lot more hectic.
+ The voice of Mirendiel stays with her, whispering to her in her sleep.
+ She begins to get other dreams, where she sees colourful figures and the sea. Each dream ends with a harsh pain in her stomach.
+ Christmas time! Vidya sits on the stairs with Adonis, to wait for Christmas morning. They talk and have a strangely deep sibling conversation...she tells him how hard its been on her to even get up in the morning, or even move at all.
+ Vidya starts practicing her magic. As long as there is water nearby, she can manipulate it. So far, she can mildly make it change its direction, and move and shape it to suit her needs.
+ Exhaustion and pain set in once more.

Teen Quest Part One
Ugh, Go awaaaaaaay~

Vidya had been irritable lately. Not the occassional bad mood, not the childlike bursting demand for independence, simply...irritable. The usually good natured tale was clearly starting to wear thin mentally, sick of being so, well...sick. It had been months since she started to feel the exhaustion in her mind, and the pain from her body, and needless to say she was fed up with it. Unused to dealing with this kind of irritation on her own, it had slipped into her interactions with others, especially her family. She felt bad and often apologized to them quietly, but that never stopped the annoyed glances or the snapping words she gave to them.

Rather upset with the most recent snark to her Mother, Vidya had retreated to her toddler brother's room, curling up with the napping boy in an attempt to make herself feel better. Aurion was always one of her siblings that could always make her feel better, and so he was the one she usually wandered to when she became unbearably annoyed with the rest of her family. Unlike Adonis, Vidya saw Nio and Enoh's biological son as an escape from his grown-up counterparts, a bit of both Mother and Father without the mentality to judge her right or wrong.

It felt nice, somehow.

She'd been through so much lately, it seemed. Everything had been piling up, from losing her Father for a period of time (she wasn't entirely sure he was still there, either), to occassionally losing her eyesight, to those dreams in which the additional pains in her stomach start, to learning magic, to falling into a rather horrible coma and, of course, to the irritable nature resulting from overtiredness and soreness, regardless of how much she slept. Of course, sleeping only brought the dream back. Vidya just couldn't win, and she was tired of feeling that buildup of pressure she just couldn't escape from. She felt like a balloon, filled nearly to its breaking point with water, and while it threatened to burst any moment, it just...wouldn't.

She reached out to wrap her paling blue arms around her toddler brother, pulling the log of a boy closer to her so she could nuzzle her tear-stained cheeks into his silvery purple mop of hair. At first, the boy did nothing but snort before he fell back into his soft snores, but shortly after he turned towards the tale, grabbing at her haori to snuggle tightly into her.

Just as she was about to let the sandman take her away, the tale heard a soft, chanting voice. Peering one eye open, she lifted her head slowly, surveying the room through narrowed eyes. When she decided that the voice wasn't coming from this room, she tried to get up. Her movement was stopped however, when it became clear that Aurion wasn't about to let her go. Sighing, she shifted the half-cabbit to easier pick him up, and with her limp and snoring cargo, she moved out of the toddler's room and wandered into the hallway, following the sound of the voice.

After checking room after room, she discovered that the chanting noise was coming from her room. More importantly, it came from her closet. What tipped her off to that? Well, it might've had something to do with the glow of light that shone through the crevaces of the doors.

Vidya narrowed her eyes, eyeing the door. Her closet was singing now, the borealis-like glow twisting out of the crack of the door and lacing its light softly over the snoring toddler and the skeptical blue girl. Tightening her grip on her brother, Vidya growled lightly at the door.

"Go away." She told whatever was causing the glow from the closet. "I've been through a lot, I'm not really up to dealing with you, either." Her situation was explained while she leaned her head to the side and looked rather cross. "So, if you wouldn't mind...please go away and come back in a month." Changing to a secretorial voice, Vidya turned from the closet and walked towards the door to her room, with every intention of heading back to Aurion's room to finish their naps. Two steps away from the closet, and the chanting song grew louder, the light growing brighter. Sighing heavilly, she glared over her shoulder.

"No seriously...go the hell away." She growled at the closet door, then went back to trying to leave the room. Needless to say, she wasn't surprised when some invisible force blocked her way, preventing her or her brother from leaving the room. She tried kicking the invisible creature as well as she could considering her cargo, she tried the whole open sesame thing, she tried everything she could think of that didn't involve waking or moving Aurion. No luck in any case. Sighing heavilly once more, she turned around, her chin in the air and looking every inch a haughty brat, bored with her situation.

"Fine. Fine! Have it your way. Spoiled little..." She trailed off, muttering what may or may not have been curses under her breath. Moving towards her bed, she carefully put Aurion down, taking her dear sweet time with making him comfortable and putting her blankets over him, tucking him in tightly the way he liked it. Once she was finished, and once she couldn't stall anymore, she brushed herself off and stood infront of the closet door, letting the borealis-like lights dance over her.

"If this isn't worth my time, I'm gonna kick you in the face." She growled irritably at the door. Seriously, it was one thing after the other! Stretching her arms out a bit in invitation, she subjected to whatever the thing in the closet had in store for her.

"Alrighty, lets do this and get it over with."

Title

Teen Quest Part Two
I think you're doing this wrong

Nothing was happening. The closet kept glowing...but nothing was happening. Vidya's irritable stare softened into curiousity until she was left with a look that suggested her closet should seek serious mental help.

"Uhmm...Hello? Excuse me?" She asked the closet, taking a tentative step forward. As her foot went down, she looked around her to see if anything in her surroundings has changed. Nothing. Her brother kept on snoring on her bed, and the only thing that had changed was that he was tugging on one of his long, floppy ears and trying to eat the other. This wasn't unusual, so the confused tale turned her attention back towards the glowing closet. "Uhm...I'm not complaining or anything, but aren't you supposed to spirit me away? Send me...somewhere else?" She asked the door politely, resting her hand on the door. "Isn't that how it works? I read it in a book once. And saw it in a movie. Closet sends you somewhere else..." She prattled on. Then, upon getting no answer, she shrugged. "Well, okay then. I guess you don't want anything...so could you unhex the door? I wanna go back to nap with my brother now." Waving to the door, the blue skinned girl turned around, moving back towards her brother.

As she took the first step away from the door, she was relieved to hear or see no changes. Second step, nothing. Third step, nothing...fourth, fith, sixth...nothing. Forgetting about the closet, she reached down and slowly wiggled one arm underneath Aurion's sleeping form.

Click.

Vidya started to pick up her sibling, oblivious to the sound.

Click.

Her headwings twitched, and she paused what she was doing to glance over her shoulder. The closet had stopped glowing but...the handle was turning. Slowly. Like something out of a horror film. Fatal Frame. Fatal Frame and horror films in general taught her that a ghost was in there. Something evil. Vidya's heart began to race, and and clutched her now loudly snoring brother to her chest, her pale eyes widening as the doorknob stopped moving.

Then, like any good horror movie...

Nothing happened.

Moments passed, and when the door didn't open, Vidya released the breath she had been holding, laughing softly in her own stupidity. Gathering up her courage, she lay her brother back on her matress, then went to the closet to face whatever it was that was trying to scare her. "I told you if its not worth my time I'm going to kick you in the face!" She warned the closed door, stalking slowly towards it.

"If you don't show yourself, I'll kick you in the faaaace..." She warned in a cheery, singsong voice. Reaching out, she put her hand on the doorknob, shifting her weight to be able to open the door and run if she needed too. Taking a deep breath, she opened her mouth to call out.

Whatever you do, DON'T ---

"AH-HAH!" The soft, pleading voice called out too late. Vidya threw the door open, and unknowingly cut off the warning.

Title

Teen Quest Part Three
Two Paths Crossing

The closet door swung open forcefully, thanks to her not-so-subtle prompting, only to reveal...

Clothes.

Ordinary clothes. Her clothes. Sighing heavilly, Vidya reached out to smack various things in her closet, to see if it would do anything. Needless to say, it did not. After scratching her head, she turned around to leave her closet, to go back to Aurion.

"Whatever I do, Don't? That sounds kinda silly..." Vidya chuckled, finally turning fully to view her room.

This time, everything was different. That much was certain when her foot fell not onto her carpeted floor, but into sand. Warm sand. With a gasp, Vidya lifted her foot, staring down at it, and moments later her gaze shot up to look around her. Her room...it was gone! In its place was something familiar...something...something she'd seen before! It was a beach, more than likely in the middle of summer. The water in the distance was crystal clear, and it rolled softly. There were very few trees even in the distance. It was...just an expanse of beach and rolling water.

Vidya, staring wideeyed at the scene before her, suddenly reached up with one hand...and promptly pinched herself. Again. And Again. Even so...the scenery never changed. She was on a beach now, and not her safe, slightly chilly room. But she'd been on this particular beach before; but then, there were other tales for her then...and then...well, lets not get into that.

Shaking her head, she looked around her once more, starting to work herself up into a panic. The beach, the water, that strange shape on the water in the distance, and upon turning around, there was that little, rundown shack she'd discovered had once been someone's home. It was the same, it was all the same...

Vidya started to panic, her arms pulling close to her chest, and her breath coming in short gasps. What to do what to do! The closet had long gone, leaving her stuck here...again. But alone.

Shh...Relax... Came a soft, kind voice. Letting out a gasp of surprise, the tale spun around, at first seeing nothing. Clasping her hands over her mouth, Vidya looked around for the maker of the voice. Nobody could be a disembodied voice, there had to be a maker! Mouthcover or not, she let out a scream when someone's cool hand touched her shoulder. Its okay Vidya, you know me... The voice said softly into her ear.

Vidya visibly relaxed. She did know this voice, and it was a welcome hear. "Mirendiel..." Relief washed over the girl, and she settled to looking around her surroundings in a calmer, more quiet perspective. Mirendiel had never done anything to hurt her; in fact, this voice only helped her when she lost her sight for those few days, and then again when she started seeing things that just...weren't there. This was a helpful voice, nothing to be afraid of. She was in good hands, as far as her naive judgement could tell.

Despite her calm perspective, she never noticed that the sounds around her had entirely disappeared, save for their voices.

Dear Girl...You have learned to trust me, and that is good. The woman said quietly, her ghostly hand still on the tale's shoulder. However...I came here to warn you. You are following down the same path that destroyed me. The ghost put an emphasis on the last few words, a tone of utter bitterness seeping through the usually calm, even voice. She continued on, not giving Vidya a chance to ask questions. I want to show you what happened to me, so you can be sure to avoid it. You are a sweet child, I do not want you to meet the same end I had.

"Down the same path? What do you mean? I don't know anyone who would---" Vidya cut herself off when she felt the spirit's hand on her shoulder leave, when the creator of the voice seemed to withdraw even though her presence could still be felt. "Mirendiel, wait! I don't understand, there's nothing here! What am I supposed to----"

Her words were cut off when the sound of a lurching ship, dangerously crashing waves and the many voices of angry, panicked people rang through the once quiet beach, as though someone had suddenly unmuted the sound.

Title

Teen Quest Part Four
Anger and Disappointment

The sound had come in full blast. The angry voices, the wails of the hurt, the panicking cries of those who still fought to steady a ship that was clearly on its last metaphorical leg. Vidya didn't have to be near the water to hear all these things; she could hear them just fine though she was standing a ways away, in the shade of the little rundown shack. Before she knew it however, she was seeing the ship not from the water, but as though she was on the deck. Like that time in her room, her eyes had been stolen. She was seeing things from a perspetive she couldn't have gotten from where her body is. A quick glance to the shore proved that. She could see herself on the shore, in the shade of that rundown shack.

With this new perspective, she saw the body she was currently inhabiting. It was dressed in men's clothing, yet the body was clearly female, she could see waves of dark blue hair that moved over her shoulders, probably straying from a ponytail; and her skin was a gentle blue, like water on a clear day. Vidya didn't have the time to notice that this body, especially the colours of this body, were oddly similar to that of her own.

She didn't even have time to panic, for someone was talking to her.

Goddamn woman! Came an angry voice from behind her, and both she and the woman whose yes she was currently seeing from spun around to face the voice. Now, Vidya could not only see though the eyes of this woman - Mirendiel, she assumed - but she could also feel what Mirendiel was feeling. She was panicking. Her muscles were strained to prevent herself from shaking in fear. What the fear was though, she couldn't place. It was somewhere between fear of pain and the fear of upsetting one you cared about. It was a strange kind of fear, something Vidya was new to...but she could feel it. When Mirendiel spun around, she could see that the creator of the voice was a tall man, one whose clothes were bloody and dirty from the battle they had narrowly escaped from. She couldn't see[/i that the clothes were bloody and dirty, for she could only see black with the outlines and auras of the things around her; but she could smell the blood, the dirt. She could smell it coming form him, just as it came from the other members of his crew. He was glaring down at scared little Mirendiel, who had lifted her hands to grip her stomach, as if to tear out the unease from her fear.

...C-Captain! Mirendiel started. I...I do not know what happened! It just...it would not...I could not... Her words were failing her. She was trying to defend herself from this formidable male figure in front of her...and her fear, her panic...it was making her lose this battle. I am sorry, I am so very sorry...! Vidya could feel the tears that welled in Mirendiel's eyes just as easily as she could see the outlines and auras of her sight skewer with these impending tears. Through the woman's tears, Vidya could see that the Captain was in no way impressed, or even sympathetic to Mirendiel's plea.

You god damned woman! He growled out again through clenched teeth, his fists balling. Suddenly, he reached out to grab the neck of Mirendiel's shirt, forcefully pulling her towards him. Why didn ye TELL me y'were weak?! The Captain yelled at her, jostling her with the hold he had on her clothing. Speak! He commanded harshly.

I...I DID tell you, Captain! I said that s-something was wrong with my magic...! Mirendiel wailed in her own defence. I asked for a rest, I tried to tell you...! Unfortunately for Mirendiel, she couldn't speak anymore to come to her own defense, but she had said enough to make the already furious man seethe even further with anger. With a growl, he threw her to the ground and stalked off, moving towards the shore - and the shack that Vidya's body was standing near - now that his poor ship had weighed anchor.

Mirendiel, gathering herself up from the floor, sat with her head in her hands. Vidya felt the wave of dread and fear that stayed around the poor Nymph woman. She knew that Mirendiel had just majorly disappointed the man she loved.

Title

Teen Quest Part Five
Truth

Time had passed in this little beach, and yet Vidya didn't feel the time drag by. Before she knew it, she was standing on the beach, feeling toes that were not her own wrigging in the sand as a nervous gesture. She knew that time had passed somehow; and she knew that Mirendiel was pacing the outside of the rundown shack, just waiting for her Captain to come out. She had to talk to him, she had to make things right...it was the only way! The tale understood this, and yet...something else was wrong. There was something else weighing on the nymph woman's mind, something Vidya couldn't yet place.

I've been useful before now...maybe he can overlook it just this once...I mean, I have been overworked by him... The nymph woman was talking to herself as she paced, and it left Vidya with a feeling of dread. Being useful...hadn't she asked Tybalt the same thing, the last time she saw him? She didn't want to admit it, but she was starting to understand Mirendiel when she said 'You are following the same path that destroyed me'. Vidya refused to admit it. Her senario was different!

The door to the rundown shack swung open and Vidya's gaze was forced to move as Mirendiel spun around to face him. She couldn't see an expression, but she could tell by the patterned aura around him that he was angry. Very angry. So angry she could feel it in the air. Mirendiel must have felt it too, for the Nymph clasped her hands together, clenching her fingers so hard her blue knuckles started to fade to white.

Captain...Please, hear me out... She asked meekly, standing before him as boldly as she could muster. When she received no answer, she took it as permission to speak. I..I do not know what went wrong! I have tried since...then...to get the waves to obey me...they will not! Eyes flickered towards the softly rolling waves before turning back to the still, angry form of the Captain. I...I do not have my power anymore...It has been taken away! Mirendiel admitted with a tone of distress. Vidya clued in then. That was the other thing weighing on the nymphs mind, the thing she couldn't place! Mirendiel had aided this Captain and his ship for so long, the waves refused to obey her! Not only that, the spirits must have deemed her unworthy to hold such power! Her musings were cut off however, as Mirendiel continued to talk to the Captain who might as well have been an angry statue. I...I need to stop attempting to use my magic...I need a break to get back in favor of the water...Please, once I get my power back, I can be useful again... Vidya's heart twisted; she was only beginning to understand how powerful of an emotion love really was, and yet she could understand how desperately Mirendiel wanted to stay near this particular Captain.

Both Vidya's mind and Mirendiel's voice was stunned into silence when the Captain's form moved to open his arms. It was...the gesture of a hug? Regardless, it was something Mirendiel took freely, moving to bury her face into his chest, her fingers twisting in the fabric of his shirt. Strong arms wrapped around her form for a moment, but it was a breif one. One arm held her close, but the other one was moving - and Mirendiel, not one to be suspicious, never thought to open her eyes, to see what he was doing. By the time she thought to look up at him, it was already too late.

Pain. A long dagger peirced her stomach, finding itself a nice, fleshy sheath. Mirendiel gasped, her head shooting up to stare at the Captain she held so dear. She was at a close enough range to see his expression, which compromised entirely of...nothing. He was emotionless. There was nothing to the aura that surrounded him; no remorse, no pity, no self satisfaction...no nothing. She realized then and there that all this time, he considered her expendable. Every thanking touch, every hug every word every glance...it was all a ploy. A ploy to get what he wanted from her. He did get it, he used her affections to his own advantage...and now that her powers were gone...

B-but why...? Mirendiel breathed out in pain; pain compromised of the crushing weight of the truth on her mind, and the stab of the long dagger through her body. Her blood seeped downwards to stain the once calming sand around her feet.

Because I can. He retorted, twisting the dagger to drive in his point, if not to hear the useless nymph's scream of pain. Shortly after the twist the dagger was pulled out and his grip on her body subsided, causing the quickly weakening woman to fall into a heap in the sand, writhing in pain. Its a pity you turned out to be useless. I had so many plans for you. He told her, leaning down to clean off his dagger on her clothes.

Her gaze was failing as fast as the blood that poured from her wound. Before her world collapsed into nothingness, she heard the Captain speak one final time.

She is useless t'me without 'er power, leave 'er to rot.
