It is somewhat of an anomaly that Sipid is "allowed" to troll around. However, he has been banned numerous times by the mods. So, it's not really that he's being "allowed" to troll, he just hasn't been banned yet (again).

Yeah, well, I haven't gotten any mod hate on this acct yet. So I think I'm doing pretty well, actually.

Maybe it's just because I'm an outstanding member of Life Issues, despite the fact that no one likes to acknowledge it. I tend to report a good deal of threads in fact, like the one where I made up the story about being an abused child. I reported the thread, and than proceeded to troll. The thread was moved to the Recycle Bin, and I got off scott free.

Out of curiousity, how many accounts have you been through? question

So yeah, 4 banned, and I'm currently on Captain_Sipid_Peabody. I'll probably switch to Capt_Sipid_Peabody if I get banned again.

I'm a bit suprised they don't just flat out block your IP

That kind of threat doesn't actually bother me, as I'm on a Dial-up connection. My IP constantly changes every time I log in.

Dial up? I had to use dial up for about a week when I visited my grandparents and I felt as though I aged a few years each time I clicked a new page.

Even if you did have the same IP, I think IP bans are pretty rare. If they were more frequent people would claim that their brother/sister/mother/dog/etc was at fault and they just got stuck using the same computer. Too much trouble for gaia to deal with it. But, I do think they occasionally ban hackers via IP ban.

Actually, when we were still in High School, Cathl managed to get our school IP banned for 2 weeks. So, we have run into them doing it.

The main reason for not banning IPs isn't because it's so easy to change your IP, but because you could technically block someone legit from accessing the site. Por ejemple: suppose someone connects via AOL, whose IPs are always 152.xxx.xxx.xxx. Well, you block one IP, or even a range of them, and that person is blocked until he/she signs out, after which the IP can be assigned to a new person. Suppose this new person is also on Gaia, tries to log in, and finds he/she can't because of an IP block. Not entirely fair. So, admins decide to block accounts more often because it stops the actual offender. Since the admins did decide to block the school, it shows that they do use that, though rarely, and it's mostly for smaller IP ranges (schools often have a smaller range, maybe only the last 3 digits in an IP). Plus, most schools filter out forums anyway, so its no loss.

I remember that. That was like a true victory.

Oh, and to Chalda, did you notice that the only point you made in your last post is that I'm supposedly running out of points? How's that for irony?

If that was an attempt at a shot I'm just going to laugh because you have no idea. I've noticed you result to insults when you don't have anything intelligent to say. It's not too flattering to you.

Neither of you guys are being very mature about this whole thing...

Anyway, on a completely separate note:

I think I've realized the key problem with my cynicism. It's that I tend to know the odds of everything, and unlike many Gaians, I don't exempt myself from them. The benefit is that I walk into things knowing the odds, and when I fail at the game I'm playing, at least I can be prepared to do so.

And that being said, I have to officially (for the time being until I'm extremely bitter again), resign my staunch anti-relationship standpoint, because I can't morally justify hypocrisy.

I've decided to make this announcement in the cynic area because quite frankly, in the past I've constantly advised against the rout I'm taking, and gone so far as to call any men who take this path feminized pussies. Therefore I think that it's only right that you guys have ample opportunity to throw my advice back in my face. And I think the cynic's area is probably the best place to facilitate that kind of reaction.

You must realize that whining about how your opponent is namecalling makes you look weak, as it puts you in the defensive position.

Internet flamewars are won by hurling an uninterrupted stream of degratory remarks.

I suppose for us Peabodies failure in such matters is not an option.
