Adaire
"How embarrassing! I'm never going to live this down! But that kiss Zetsu, it was worth it, I feel tingly all over."

He took a final look at the three photos before directing his eyes towards her, a curious look on his face.

"I know what you mean, but there's no reason to be embarrassed. I won't be showing these to anyone anytime soon."

He held her close, enjoying her company and listening intently as she began speaking. Throughout, he responded to her words with gentle squeezes meant to reassure her hopes. In fact he felt the exact same for her, however he had no words to describe how he felt. He spoke only in answering her last question, a serene look upon his face as he answered as truthfully as possible.

"I couldn't

tell you, Adaire. I love you regardless."

His photos went by quickly, his first one taking him completely off guard. The next ones came out perfect. Simple photos of him wearing his unique smile, true and not hiding anything. As soon as he was done retrieving the photos and Adaire began to take her pictures, Zetsu readied his gift behind his back and waited for her to come out from behind the curtain, speaking as soon as he saw her.

"I know that you never really wore jewelry, but ah.. awhile before meeting you in Lament I came across this..

He revealed to her a beautiful silver chain, quite delicate in appearance yet much stronger than it looked. The links themselves were intricate, giving the illusion of engravings on the metal. The chain itself wasn't of focus however, for strung on the chain was a ring of a similar material. The silvery ring was near-unadorned besides a single ruby embedded into the band itself. He unclasped it and continued,

..I never thought there would be anyone to give it to, so selling it was my main approach to benefiting from it. Weirdly enough my luck started getting better..this was after being imprisoned at Heaven's Gate you know. And after finding this..I happened to meet you, the last person I would have expected all the way out there.."

He smiled fondly and clasped the necklace again, offering it to her.

"You don't have to wear it if it suits you better that way, I'm pretty sure it brought me some good luck that day in Lament, and I think one day it might help you out, or save you or something.. I could swear it saved my hide a couple of times. Besides all of that..I thought it matched your eyes!"

Throughout the remainder of the night on the boardwalk, Zetsu had been wide-eyed and giddy, never before seeing anything like this island in his life. Even he, after awhile, had limited endurance after a whole days worth of one heck of a date. 'Perfect timing' was exactly what he thought as Adaire managed to get them both back to the hotel. The place was a shell, no people to be seen. It wasn't long until they reached the hall where their rooms were located. Time for what he thought to be the most difficult part, separating after all that time together. Zetsu really never was good at saying goodbyes, including brief ones. He managed to kiss her back goodnight. One sided deals were never too fun. Though he was tired as hell he tried not to show it, murmuring a goodnight and giving her his rapt attention until the last of her disappeared behind the door.

His feet remained unmoving even after the door had closed behind her. It wasn't until several moments later until he approached the door, quietly resting his head and hands upon the painted wood. He remained there for nearly a minute before sighing and making his way towards his own room. There was no way to stay awake, he was beat. The only article of clothing to come off was his jacket, seconds later he hit the bed sleeping, shoes and all.

He would dream for the first time in months - large red eyes and the smell of the sea and expensive food mixed together in the strangest forms, pervading him in all manners - never before had he slept so well.

A weary hand reached out to Ravens. Shakey, thin and weak. It had been so long since this poor broken girl had seen a smiling face. She was frail, she was weak...sad...lonely.

As there hands met there as a twinkling as the poor young, broken, Raven shifted into just that...a Raven. Both its wings broken, and its feet clicking up Hono's arm, to her shoulder.

For a normal human, gazing upon this bird they would see nothing. But for the one Lady Raven she could read the look on the birds face. It said so very simply...."please dont break me....".

The world went white.

Raven would find herself ever so gently awakening, her arms folded across her chest. Floating about three feet off the bed.

It was strange, the sun wasnt beaming. According to the Hotel clock it was 6, it must have been 6pm. She had slept the whole day through, and awakened at dusk!

Maddick, quietly flowed a few steps off, his form as still as death. Though still connected.

--Click click--

The sound as barely audible, it was like...something getting tapping, rapping, at her bedroom window. The curtains had been drawn shut...what was it?

*The floating was almost enough to startle her out of the strange feelings that were still left from the dream, or vision, or whatever the heck had happened to her that day while she sleep, but the tapping was important...she didn't have a clue how to get down right now though and so Raven used a power that she hadn't had the strength for more recently. She reached out towards the curtains and a breath of air stirred the long drapes... a bit more concentration and a wind built to pull the material away from the window so she could see what was making that noise*

By her very thought it was made so. She was gently carried down, a barely visible flapping sound audible as her feet hovered above the ground before gently resting on it.

The curtain parted revealing the source of the odd sound...a bird. Not just any bird to be sure, a Raven. A most beautiful bird if there ever was one. Its feathered body as black as could be. Its eyes a deep dark almost blood red. And its beak, gently rapping at her window.

You see, during the day it had begun snow, and the snow carried through to the night. And this bird, it seemed was cold, so very cold...and somehow...it had found this place and knocked as if it was home. And yet something about it seemed so very shockingly familiar.

Another odd feature seemed to make itself most obvious as she would near it. Its wings, both were laying on the ground beside it, as opposed to being tucked up. It tried to fly, as she got closer, but, one could almost hear the sickly crunching and it let out a screech of pain, as it fell still for a moment.

With broken wings, and snow building...this was a harsh place for any bird to find itself.

But could this be...?

Was this the bird from her dream...?

Or did the birds presence cause her dream?

What happened?

hush, hush now...*Her voice dropped instinctively as she rushed towards the window at the recognition of the birds still broken wings.*

There now, just stay calm, I already promised I would help, didn't I?*She knew, or at least hopped, this was the same raven from her dream, but even if it wasn't she still needed to help a kindred... the old saying about a bird in need was more than just an old wives tale when it came to someone like Hono. It took her a minute to figure out how to get the window open but then she reached through with both hands to gently help the bird in out of the cold*

Zetsumeii

When Adaire saw the neckless she was almost in tears again, to her, it was the most valuable item on Gaia.

"Zetsu, that's so beautiful! It's... for me?!"

Adaire took the necklace gently, placing it around her neck immediatly while turning her back toward Zetsu.

"Please clasp it for me."

Zetsumeii
He would dream for the first time in months - large red eyes and the smell of the sea and expensive food mixed together in the strangest forms, pervading him in all manners - never before had he slept so well.

Adaire awoke early in the morning. The gift she had in mind for Zetsumeii had been for the tournament, but she thought she'd give it to him anyway. A set of red shuriken, 10 in all, wrapped in red paper and tied in a red bow. She tore off the paper and threw it in the trash, thinking a wrapped present too dramatic.

Today was the day, she had work to catch up on back in Durem, and Zetsu had much business of his own. They would probably have to part ways. Still, she would make sure he had every available method of contacting her, even her secure work lines. In a way, she hoped he would show up in Durem, and chose to work where he could be near her, where she could help him more easily. But that was his choice, she knew she couldn't control him anymore than he could control her, even though there was little he could ask that she wouldn't seriously consider attempting. The ruby pendant gift she recieved reinforced that attitude.

Instead of her uniform and trench coat, she wore a light blue cotton sundress of thin breezy fabric. The dress was accented by the ruby necklace Zetsu had given her last night, in order to show him how much she loved it. Her uniform would remind Zetsu that she was a mercenary, she didn't want that, she wanted Zetsu to think of her in a different light. She wanted him to think it would be impossible for her delicate hands to spill even the most vile blood.

Having a key to Zetsu's room, she entered without knocking, and finding that he was decent, she set down her gift and a small bag with some take-out breakfast. The aroma of coffee slowly filled the room. She sat on the floor with her arm on the bed and lovingly watched as he slept. She would wait as long as it took for him to wake up, maybe twirling a lock of his hair around her index finger once and a while. There was a contented smile across her face the whole time, she was just beaming.

If only you'd ask me........ but then, Evan would have to approve of you first. I did take a blood oath, so the man is like my second father now. I wonder if he'll think less of me for how stupid I've become?

I hope Zetsu doesn't get angry at me for doing this. I'm going to miss him so much when I go back to Durem.

She felt her heart heave at the thought of being away from him.

Some moments after she had settled besides the bed, Zetsu woke, not without a plan in store. Still a bit tired, he decided to leave his eyes shut and keep his breathing steady in order to see what she was up to. He let about a minute pass, immensely enjoying her unseen brushes against his hair and the heavenly scent of coffee she brought with her. After he had grown impatient of not interacting with her, he allowed a single eye to lazily open in her direction and take in her simple yet stunning appearance.

'Beautiful.'

Though now awake he was still quite sleepy, and with a groggy smile he mumbled his greeting to her.

"Good morning..I see you're an early bird hm?"

He uncontrollably yawned and afterwards adjusted himself to better talk to her. Both blue eyes were now open and cast into her own, blinking occasionally to rid the sleep from his eyes. He paused a moment before continuing, surprised at his own waking. He had developed a reaction to defend himself instantaneously when waking, and yet this morning was the most peaceful waking he had ever experienced. Mabye he was becoming rusty..

'Nah, you're just tired from yesterday. No worries.'

"Mm, how did you sleep? I couldn't even begin to tell you that tonight was heavenly."

Partly due to his precarious position on the edge of the bed and partly due to his own unconscious (or conscious..?) will , Zetsu suddenly fell off the bed and practically landed in her lap with a surprised "Oof!". He remained still for a few seconds before guiltily looking up at her with an awkward smile. He then continued once more as if nothing had happened.

"Well, one thing's for sure, it's definitely more comfortable down here than up there. How's it going?"

Despite his easy-going attitude at the moment, the tiny squirm deep in his stomach began to kick in, something which had occurred since spending time back at the Stadium.

He had waited to ask a simple question of Adaire with not such simple consequences, not knowing when or how he could possibly ask such a thing from her. Their feelings for each other were totally and obviously shared, there was no visible barrier preventing his move, it was something.. something within himself which caused him such hesitation, a vague sense of ineptness if anything.

Zetsu needed to know for a fact that he would make a good partner, a good friend,

a good husband.

But something more waited for her outside the frosted window that a bird with broken wings.

And while it happily hopped into her arms...there was a sound...a veritable roar that could not be ignored...

It filled the sky, it sounded like an army marching, and yet no army was on the streets. For any humans walking below the sound instinctually triggered a "what is that!?", sort of reaction. But Raven....Raven was no human at all. She would know that sound, because for the better part of her life, it was beside her at all times.

It was the sound of wings flapping...hundreds of them...no, maybe even thousands...

If she looked up she would see them, all of them. Countless members of her black feathered kin swooped around the hotel. And as her eyes met them, they descended. This was no attack, it was a joyous occasion. A celebration.

As many birds as could fit on the sill landed, many more flocking to the nearby roofs and ledges all to get a look at her glory...

The Lady...

The Raven...

This was indeed a celebration. A welcoming.

Raven herself may notice the subtle differences in her own form. Her hands were paler, her skin as soft as silk. And she was not dressed in that with which she had slept she was, perhaps it was that moment in which she bent to pick up the bird that she might notice. But she was clothed in a gown of farest black. It looked like a gown fit for a lady...perhaps even a queen.

She might notice should she check the mirror that while she was gift with a smaller set of vampiric fangs, that her hair had blended its blood red, with a night sky black. And her gown and nails carried the same beautiful color pattern, blending the two colors together as fluidly as the night sky fused the brilliant oranges and twilight violets.

This was a grandest celebration, perhaps even a ball. Her people were ready, it seemed only that the guest of honor need join them. And they did call her...the ravens, they beckoned for her as if beckoning to be blessed by the presence of their queen...

*Raven very slowly noticed her change in attire, but the nails caught her attention even as she gently stroked a finger along the back of the raven perched on her arm. She sat on the open window ledge looking out at her flock*Well now, I'm sorry that I haven't been in touch more my friends sweatdrop
*This was all a little more difficult to wrap her mind around, she had always felt that she was just another member of the flock before now, and yet all the ravens around her obviously thought of her as more*
I'm not really sure what you all expect of me my dears... I'm a little new to this xp
PostPosted: Sat Jan 13, 2007 10:07 am

The gentle touch of her hands brought comfort to the small creature. Its feathered head leaning into her hands.

It was odd. She was speaking a common language. Everyone present would have understood it, and these were birds...they shouldnt speak human and yet it seemed they did. As she spoke there eyes locked on her, hanging on her every word. Because she had asked them a base question. And they wanted nothing more than to answer. She asked what they expected, and they would show her rather than tell her. As a whole the armada leaned back flapping their wings in unison...they wanted to fly...

They wanted to fly with their Lady. To share that most unique pleasure with the one they revered.

It seemed without even a thought she had performed the act she performed a million tims before. In warm glow the bird in hand joined his breatheren flapping his wings. Its wings repaired.

She had accepted her flock. The family that chose her, and would never abandon her.

xd *Raven laughed happily as the bird took off once more, always overjoyed to help someone who really needed the help. Raven shifted to her natural form as easily as ever, replacing rams with wings that eagerly beat at the sky... they wanted to fly, well she would give her flock a bit of exercise then!*
PostPosted: Sat Jan 13, 2007 10:32 am

But there was something more to it this time. Her wings were wider, her body larger. This was no small bird, this was a large bird, from beak to tail feathers nearly 5ft long, with wingspan to match. She could soar through the air gracefully, but her feathers were of a black most unique. She seemed almost ethereal, a black hue around her, almost shadowy, leaving a streak of black in her trail.

She was a powerful woman, and a powerful Raven. As she took to the sky, the entirety of the flock joined her. They formed a triangle with her at the center. She was like a mother to them, some soared around her, ducking and diving closer. Other simply let out sqauks of joy. They wanted to show her something and so some of them did, so very much like children.

They would borrow a bit of Raven's attention, her eyes would fade to a deep black, and in her minds eye she could see what the chosen bird could see. She could know whatever they knew. With mental suggestions, she need not even use words, she could direct the ebb and flow of the flock as a whole, guiding the entire unit as it flew towards the twilight, or guiding one single bird at a time.

People below simply stared up in wonder. It is said that in the past, when the animals were stronger, they were larger and taught the humans many of the things they know today. As the years progressed the animals grew weaker and smaller, though never forgetting there noble origins. Raven reminded this flock of a true Raven. Large, powerful, dominating the sky, as she soared through it. Inspiring awe, and respect in those below, those gifted with the sight.

*they soared through the sky across the island, dipping low and then soaring high again with all of her children, the lot of them calling out to the heavens, their wings showing that the night sky was not as black as most people assumed as the flock truly darkened the sky. Raven's heart soared even as she soared into the sky with the others*

Zetsumeii

"Good morning..I see you're an early bird hm?"

"And I see you're a sleepy head," She smiled. "I could have pounced on you before you even knew it."

She blushed, suddenly tense, "Actually, the way I just said that........ never mind....... about that pouncing stuff." sweatdrop

Zetsumeii
"Mm, how did you sleep? I couldn't even begin to tell you that tonight was heavenly."

"I'm full of energy," Adaire said, smiling broadly, "I'm ussually a cynical, nasty, tired, and generally awful person when I first wake up. Maybe it's because I never slept well, but this morning I just feel altogether different. Like a brand new person. I know, it's really corny for me to be saying this, but I slept soundly without being wounded for the first time in years and I feel great this morning."

Zetsumeii
Partly due to his precarious position on the edge of the bed and partly due to his own unconscious (or conscious..?) will , Zetsu suddenly fell off the bed and practically landed in her lap with a surprised "Oof!". He remained still for a few seconds before guiltily looking up at her with an awkward smile. He then continued once more as if nothing had happened.

"Well, one thing's for sure, it's definitely more comfortable down here than up there. How's it going?"

For a tall guy, he wasn't terribly heavy for her, her arms were strong enough to lift him if she had too, part of her incredibly deceptive strength. Still, he was heavy enough that she lowered him to the floor in the midst of her lap. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, hands gently interlocking on the other side of his neck and pulling him close so she could whisper in his ear. His little drop in her lap had pushed her to the brink of losing control, and she realized that she had no desire to resist his advances, actually welcoming them. As she pulled him close, he would hear her heart racing.

"It's going, but You better stop making me hot, because our breakfast is going to get cold."

She had much to discuss with him over breakfast, unfortunately, she liked having him in her lap, couldn't bear to let go of him just yet. The future was entirely up to him at this point.

"I.."

He faltered, nearly unable to answer with the sound of her heart on his mind. If he wasn't the only one thinking what could easily be accomplished at that moment, he was pretty sure she was thinking the exact same thing. Before possibly losing it, he recalled what she just said, about not being wounded for the first time in years. Whether she meant it physically or mentally, he was determined to not potentially do something to screw up what they had.

He adjusted himself to kiss her on the cheek as long as he dared, and upon separating he quietly said,

"Mm, we can't go and let that happen can we..?

He quickly continued, fixing a potentially awkward situation.

..Let our breakfast go cold I mean..I couldn't let that coffee go cold.."

Zetsu hoped his decision was the right one, and he hugged her right there. He sincerely hoped she would understand. At the moment he wasn't bothered to move, she was cozy.
