Masa exited the forest a bit worse for wear. The outfit she was wearing consisted of a pair of hot-pants and a strapless bra top. Not exactly the right clothing for running through a forest. She trudged up the steps to the temple, her hold loosening on Onion Knight and Behebuncle. When she got to the top, she bent down a little to place them both on the ground, then she used her body to lean against the door and push it open. She glanced over her shoulder to see if Onion Knight and Behebuncle were following. She hoped she hadn't upset them by holding them when they wanted to leave.

Sighing, she sat down on the temple floor, looking at the many cuts and bruises all over her body. "All those poor creatures..." she whispered to herself. "How could someone do this to them?" Just then, loud thumping sounds could be heard, and the sound of stone being scratched. Masa smiled and looked up to the door. Yang dived into the hall, which was a mistake because as soon as his paws made contact with the floor he went skidding on the marble. He snarled, and dug his claws into the floor. A pericing, scratching sound good be heard before he eventually came to a stop. He walked over to Masa, nuzzled her gently on the shoulder, before he disappeared into her hat, to get some rest no doubt. Then Yin entered, with the two rabbits and the squirrel, that rested calmly in his arms. "Oh Yin..." she smiled happily, and held her hands out to recieve the small animals as he passed them to her. He smiled back, as always, and then disappeared just like Yang.

Masa rested the three animals in her lap, petting them every so often. She hoped that the people she had met were OK...even though she couldn't stand one of them, and an other was almost directly responsible for the second attack on the forest.

((I presume that time has passed, thus the fire would have consumed the fuel and died already... if not, I appologize Miss Epine, and will edit this post accordingly.))

The man stumbled towards a tree. His hands braced against it, as he fell forward, down to his knees. Suddenly everything cleared about him. His labored breathing was gone, his hazy look was gone, his off kilter balance was gone. The man was sharp, focused, aware of himself, and everything around him.

His hands reached down, towards a crack into the tree, leading to a hallow, small, about half a man's size. However, it was not empty, nor did any forest denizen make it's home there. Instead, it was stuffed tight with blue-ish metal, plate and chain, two metalic shafts, a lance head, and a strange, skull like helm.

The man smiled, as he pulled out the first of the pieces, and started strapping on the strangely light armor, tightening the buckles, until it was snug, almost like a second skin of cold, stalwart metal.

Five minutes later, the man who met the Baron ceased to be. There stood only an armored figure, shielded from the world, not a feature shown beneath the steel that protected him. His knelt still, as the man screwed together to the two metal shafts, and finally attached the lance's head.

And there was the lance, everything was back. The soldier, the knight was back, the man was gone. A smile unseen came to his face, a cold, callous smile, much like that of the woman from earlier. He was ready. He had hurried up, so he could wait, and savor everything, fully enjoying each last moment, alone knowing what awaited that foolish woman.

Slowly he started walking through the woods, towards the once forested, now charred, crater, and towards the temple beyond.

((^^; I'm a little confused as to the setting... the temple is surrounded by a forest?))
PostPosted: Mon Aug 01, 2005 11:41 am

((Alrighty, here's the setting... large old growth forest. In the center of it, is a relatively recent impact crater. In that crater, is the temple, surrounded by a relatively new growth forest, though it has now been charred by magical fire. 3nodding As you enter the forest, you'd be in the old growth part... if you don't know what an old growth forest looks like, look up say, "Olympic National Park" on the US Park Registry. 3nodding ))

((Ahh, gotcha. Thankie again! :3 ))

"Twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty nine... ahh, thirty gold." Murmured a quiet voice from up a tree. Reletively near the halfling encased in his armour, a young man of fair appearance and just as fair attire sat counting coins from a leather purse sitting in his lap. Smiling warmly at the shining gold, he pocketed the purse and looked below him. He hadn't been concentrating on anyone else, and the bulky behemoth had gone unnoticed until his gaze fell below him.

Nearly falling out of the tree in shock at a massive man below him, Kale held onto the tree limb beside him to keep from taking a tumble. "Hello down there!" He called, not knowing what more to say given the circumstances.

The man's gaze went up, to the lowest set of branches, which, of course, were still quite a ways off the ground, and saw a man, hanging from a branch...

There was a frown on his face, just how the hell did he get up there? Immediately came to his mind the most plausible solution... someone chucked him up there... in a rage.
Still, he stopped, looking at the creature... Was this... could he be... one of 'them'?

"Get down here..." he said, his voice was calm, even, and deep, it had a silent authority to it, as the armored man waited for the man to comply.

((What do you mean "half creature"? Kale's a human being))

((Sorry, my bad, thought you were a halfling for some reason... which is odd, because I don't think I would have taken one of the most annoying races in my team... sweatdrop Sorry, excitement confused me.))

Flinching at hearing the man's voice, Kale chose instead to balence himself to standing on a branch. He hoped that this man wasn't some Lord's lacky sent to retrieve the stolen gold. "I'd think I'd rather not good Sir, since we both can hear one another just fine from our perspectives."

Like hell he was going to climb down- that man was twice his size at least! And Kale himself wasn't a very short man. holding tight to the trunk of the tree, he stared down at the man's helm since he couldn't see the other's eyes.

"Come on down... I have a proposition for you... one that will net you a lot more than 30 gold... if you're interested... However, we are short on time. We need to walk, and talk..." the man told him, in that same, even tone. Already, he was walking onwards, away from Kale's tree, and towards the crater, and the temple beyond, "Unless that is, you are afraid of a chance to get 100 times that meager sum..."

"W-wait!" Kale called quickly, looping his belt around the trunk of the tree and grasping it in both hands. Starting to skid down the tree trunk with his heels dug deep into the bark. Sending dust and pine needles flying as he decended and hit the ground with a soft thud. Pulling on his belt again, he followed after the other. "What did you mean a hundred times more?" He asked curiously. "What's the job you need someone like me for?"
