FireFox479 The Chronicles of Narnia is really worth the read. Lewis may go off on random tangents frequently, but the stories are interesting nevertheless. I haven't read it yet mostly because they forced me to read the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe in 4th grade and I didn't like that, so I got a grudge against the book for that.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius, Aww... I'm sorry sad I got the box set as a gift in second grade and devoured the series. My favorite was the Last Battle, but I really don't recommend reading that just yet. Maybe try the Magician's Nephew. I'd suggest keeping a highlighter nearby or something though. When I said he went off on tangents, I really meant it! I don't know how he did it XD

I'll never ever read the Twilight series. The big fuss they made over it has already killed it for me, and there's also a personal reason for me not wanting to read it as well. Other than that, I'll read anything. 3nodding

I hate romantic books and consequently have strayed away from the Twilight series. I've talked to people who have read them and they can basically sum up the whole series in a few seconds.

An amendment to my first post.
Twilight. I can't believe I didn't mention Twilight. Lots of people mentioned it as well. This girl I know dragged me to the movie, which I went to see because my then-boyfriend Phil and then-friend Larry were going too. My friend Ayla says the movie was good, except that they chose a creeper to play the main character. Seriously, and I agree with her opinion of the actor, he looks like a fourteen-year-old obsessive stalker. Ew. In no way is he attractive.
But I stray from my point. Ayla likes the books, like I said, but from what she has told me, and what I saw of the movie (seriously, sparkling skin? That's why they can't go out in the sun? Whatever), it does not seem to be the kind of story that appeals to me. Never mind that I'm not a fan of romance, and I'm not a fan of pop culture, and I'm seriously not a fan of sparkling, vegetarian vampires. It just looks like silly teenage girl s**t.
Mind you, silly teenage girl s**t has never, ever appealed to me. Even when I was a silly teenage girl, something like Twilight wouldn't have caught my interest. I've said before I've been reading Stephen King since age 8. I've been pretty mature for my age for a very long time.

I will read just about anything...I even have a small romance novel collection...but I cannot read American History books....really any history is pretty awful in my opinion, but American history really is the worst....
Unfortunately I cannot read Mystery novels either...I cannot wait that long to see who does it. I always skip to the end, find out, and am disappointing I did that....so I have only read through one the right way in my whole life...

I guess if I had to choose one story I would never let anyone I cared about read it would be Paradise Lost by Milton. About ten pages of free verse that just says Satan woke up and finds a place to stand.....enough said.

Mostly I'll read anything except books centered around romance (love stories are ok, if they're not too gooey) I read Twilight, which -even though it might get me beat up by twerds- just I think were that great. Also, I enjoy some classical writers, but some just make me fall asleep. And Historical fiction can be a bit dry for my tastes...

Shiori Yukine I absolutely, hands down will not read Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series. I don't care how good some people think they are, I just won't do it. I'm not big on romance novels either, so no. Oh, and after reading David Edding's 'Belgariad' (or whatever) I refuse to read David Eddings. And I do believe that I read a previous post where someone had that same opinion. But I think the biggest thing for me is Wheel of Time. I discovered George R.R. Martin, and never went back! I agree with you 100% I tried to read Eddings after reading GRRM and it was like going back through grade school with a doctorate. I was SO bored and frustrated. I also will not read Jordan, and totally fell out of interest with Goodkind after reading GRRM for many of the same reasons as with Eddings. I also cannot abide 'vampire' novels without sex, I mean REALLY?! I also avoid most non-fiction unless it's incredibly well written. My rule comes down to this, If I pick up the book I have to be hooked by the end of the first page, otherwise I'll put it down and never look back.
