Traitor Jacknife
So does anyone agree with me that the tau Shas'ui (Sergents) should have plus 1 BS intstead of plus 1 attack in combat?
I disagree- the squad's upgrade characters seem to have +1A as a standard (like in WFB the regimental champ gets +1A).

Although it would've been a little fluffier. xp

Yeah I guess you guys are right about the +1 attack thing but it just seemed that for a shooty race +1 BS would be more useful. Anyway i just realised how good the kroot are. Infiltrators with 53 attacks on the charge for a 16 man squad led by a shaper. How good is that?

15 man khorne Bezerker squad, 2 hand weapons, charging, one of the 15 is a champion, all have axes of khorne, between 61 and higher attacks, but, they are alot more expensive. The Kroot are very good for their cost, and functions they can do.

I think that Striking Scorpions with Karandras are amazing for their point cost. That's lke 400 points that I've tkaen out LOTS of crap with them when you use them right. Especially since I get Suprise Assault with Karandras in the squad. biggrin

Yahiko, I sense...hypocrisy? A minute ago you were saying Drop Pods were overpowered, and here you lavish over a Striking Scorpions unit led by Karandras wiping out huge amounts of points worth of the enemy for a mere 400. Surely Karandras does not fear 10 Space Marines dropping on his head?

And railguns? Surely your Prism Cannons do not fear newbie Hammerheads over the much more venerable and advanced Fire Prism?

Or for about the same amount I can get a Last Chancers squad of 12 in a Chimera all armed with plasma pistol/power weapon, or 10 flamers/meltaguns/plasma guns?

(Yes I know this is the Tau section of the forums.)

Yes but those are Scorpions. And no, if Marine squads dropped on my head I wouldn't be annoyed at all. But for other armies or if they dropped on the back of my amazing Fire Prism that would be annoying. And I only consider Railguns overpowered because they have amazing range and 2 modes of fire. Both of which are effective.

Considering the Hammerhead is their only real means of a 'uge cannon on a vehicle, what other choice do they have?

Consider Eldar War Walkers, give 'em all dual Starcannons, or even better, dual Scatter Lasers; one is 18 shots of Space Marine killer, and the other has the potential to roll out a realistic average of 27 strength 6 shots. Plus a forward shield.

I personally don't think that anyone has the right to call anything "overpowered" in a negative aspect that a person has difficulty with. Overcoming tactical challenges is a huge part of the game. And I think as an Eldar player you really don't have a right to start tagging other aspects of armies as being "overpowered" cause realistically, every army has something about it that makes it stronger than the other that another army is going to complain about.

Methinks you haven't heard about the "Mixmaster" attack- one of the Farseer powers IIRC makes those scatter lasers a freakin' nightmare no matter what they're up against.

Well a railgun IS a gun which uses magnets to fire a hunk of metal. If you got the design correct, it WOULD be pretty damn powerful!

This is true. And what's IIRC? Also Scatter Lasers don't have an AP value. An a War-walker with twin Starcannons would be 6 hit on a 4 str6 ap2 shots. A War-walker with twin Scatter Lasers would be between 2 and 12 Str 6 AP- shots.

It let you re- roll failed to hit and to wound rolls.

Just the thing for those pesky tyranids, no?

This is true. Hmm...Maybe I should redo my army to always include a War-Walker sqaudron with Scatter Lasers and Starcannons. Oh but Scatter Laser only have 24' range...I think at least.

Not really, i'd rather face a tau player with a few rail guns, than an imperial army with lots of Lascannons and missile launchers. Rail guns are expensive, + there on already expensive over specialised units. Broadsides are annoying but they die very fast in HtH... (If you have a power weapon) and at the very least, they suck to the extent that even if you can't beat there save, you can hold them there for the whole damn game. Charge a squad of Chaos havocs, or Space marine Devastators, unless your assault squad is good the marines will be out of HtH in a turn or to and resume firing. Or die horribly but probably make a better showing than the broadsides. Goes double if they still have the fluff models. ( You know, the extra marine you tack on the squad to die instead of the guy with the heavy weapons.)
