Tommy jumped at the sound of the tentacle slamming into the rabbit. He protectively clutched at the rabbit and backed away from Richard. It didn't look like he knew what he was doing as he shook his head to clear it once more. He then eyed Richard, the bag with the dead rabbit, and then his own which had finally stopped squirming. He continued to lick at the wound, but not getting much out of it since the heart had stopped pumping the blood through its veins. He gave a sigh and let the rabbit down carefully, looking it over for a moment...but feeling absolutely no remorse. With a tired sigh and a fluid movement, he was soon hanging upside down from his pullup bar. Immediately he began grooming himself, trying to get the blood off of his fur.

"Thanks, Richard," he said as he paused, "How've you been...?"

"I've been well enough, I suppose." Richard wasn't happy about the situation or her body but was getting used to it at least. "I haven't been doing much besides reading pulpy spy novels. Well I've met a few newcomers." Her lips curled up into a grimace at those memories. The one called Nicky had been vaguely amusing at least. She shook her head to clear it and inspected Tommy's from.

Richard's eyebrows shot up. "Jesus Tommy, your naked!" She quickly turned away.

Tommy glanced up at the now still bag. He didn't want to tell Richard that the rabbit would no longer be edible...dead, the blood would probably be worse than the crap he had in the fridge. Ah well, I'll still do his...her damn laundry though. Dunno how I'll get it there...but I'll do it. Tommy nodded a few times, wondering idly just how many more subjects those bastards at the labs needed before being shocked out his thoughts by Richard's exclimation.

"Wha..? OH! Christ!" He said, embarrassed, while quickly wrapping himself in his wings. Have to remember to do that every time... "Sorry...sorry, I uh...nothing fits me anymore. These wing flaps just...well...yeah, I can't wear anything," he said, blushing heavily underneath his furry cheeks.

Cautiously Richard's head swiveled back to Tommy. She hadn't actually seen anything but the fact that Tommy wasn't actually wearing any clothing had surprised her. It wasn't that she hadn't seen naked islanders before such as Colche but the fact she knew Tommy, it just had come as a shock.

She looked him up and down again, the bat was right, traditional clothes were going to be impossible. She frowned while trying to think of some sort of alternative but couldn't think of anything that didn't involve tape and that would be ultimately painful with the fur. "Well... just be careful," her tone slightly snappish. Tommy was a person dammit and people wear clothing! Her tail gave a frustrated lash.

She huffed, licked her handpaw and smoothed out her black hair which was beginning to get a little long. "So... Rumor is you did the last one yourself." Her tone was dangerously even.

Tommy felt the fog of sleep try to envelope him as he hung upside down in front of Richard. He nodded tiredly, "Yeah...yeah, I know...these wings make wearing anything mostly impossible." He nodded a few times then, about to actually fall asleep...idly wondering where she got her tailor-made clothing. That was certainly new...when her next statement caused his eyes to snap open, wide awake. He gave a nervous chitter as he eyed about his room for where he knew the cameras were watching. s**t...can't say too much here...Well...here's to hoping she knows me well enough.

"Yeah..." he said softly, matching Richard's stare. He wanted to see her reaction before giving out any more information.

Richard felt the thrill of knowing something she wasn't supposed to when she saw Tommy's reaction. And when he looked around nervously she grinned. It was a clear sign that there was more to it that he didn't want the labs to hear. She approached Tommy, squatting down so she was eye level with his upside head. "You'll have to tell me about that sometime. There is only one other person that's done that you know." Her eyes narrowed a bit, cocking her head to the side, searching Tommy's alien face for some trace of what he was up to.

Tommy let out one more nervous chitter as Richard's feline face came close to his. Once more the heat sensors in his nose went off as he felt the blood pulsing through her face. Quite a bit in the nose area...moreso than most. I wonder just how much her sense of smell has changed... He shook his head, trying to clear it once more. He couldn't let too much out...especially in such a watched place as his duplex. He opened his mouth to respond, but only another chitter came out. He tried once more. "Yeah...I'll have to...You know though, there's nothing quite as freeing as a pair of wings," he said cryptically. He honestly didn't even know what he was trying to get at. He just hoped it was cryptic enough to get the message across that he did need to talk to her.

"Heh. Only if they work." She could smell Tommy's nervousness but ignored it as she turned her attention to Tommy's wings. She'd grill him on his motivations later, while dragging the Bat away into the sunlight might be amusing she doubted it would be productive. She reached out grabbed a flap of wing skin, feeling its texture between her stubby fingers.

He gave a razor-toothed grin at that. "The Wright brothers would be proud. Yesterday I beat their first time. About fifteen seconds of gliding before I crashed," he said proudly. He felt a little uncomfortable with her feeling the sensative skin of his wing...but allowed it if only because he was proud of himself. He even stretched out the wing she was touching to its full length, keeping the other one folded up for modesty's sake. With a beady black eye, he looked up Richard, trying to gauge her reaction. He desperately wanted her approval, as much as he denied it to himself. Richard had become almost like a father figure to him since the once older-man had arrived ont he island.

"Fifteen seconds eh? I think you better request a helmet Tommy." She chuckled as she examined the wing membrane, allowing the old physiologist in her to take hold. Prehaps not the approval Tommy was seeking but there was no disapproval in her voice. A bat man attempting to fly was only natural.

Compulsively she sniffed the membrane as she studied it. "Interesting, its far thicker than most bats, be damn tough to measure vasodilation in it." She released the wing, smirking. "No worries though, nobody uses bat wing preps any more." Richard came back from her little jaunt down memory lane. Over twenty years ago they used to use bats to study drugs effects on the microcirculation as a bat wing was thin enough to visualize the blood vessels in it. Tommy's wings were much thicker, to support his far greater weight.

"Better than the first time I tried to jump off my duplex. I think I got about ten feet before smashing into the ground. You've no idea how hard it is to maintain equilibrium up there. One slight move of my arm in the wrong way'll clear out any lift I've managed to gain. But...I dunno, maybe I should try taking off from one of the aquatic duplexes...it's lower to the ground and I can land in the lake..." he said, trailing off before rethinking that last statement. "Of course...then all I'd have to worry about is drowning. I tell ya, I am not made for swimming..."

He grinned slightly as he remembered his attempts back in the river. It faltered though at the memory of almost being eaten by Newt. He was torn out of his thoughts by Richard's next statement. "Huh? Vasodilation?" he asked, obviously not knowing what the hell she was talking about. "And what's this about using my wings for what now!?"

"Ah don't worry about it fly boy." Richard said as she patted Tommy's cheek. "Just be glad your not a mouse." She shot him a predatory grin, filled with plenty of different meanings. Standing, she continued, "Anyway, I'll let you get back to your beauty rest Tommy. We can take more when you a bit more coherent." She winked. "Maybe after you've started my laundry, and then your can tell me all about your adventures." She turned to go, playfully whacking Tommy with her tail as she did so.

Tommy smirked as he felt the odd sensation of Richard's paw/hand on his furred cheek. "Flying rat, that's all I am," he said with a nervous chuckle...praying Richard wasn't being serious. "But yeah...you know me, I need all the beauty rest I can get...feels like I..." he trailed off as he opened his razor-filled mouth wide in a large yawn, "...like I crashed into the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, yaknow?" He grinned slightly at that, remembering almost hitting a tree the other day.

"Oh yeah, first I've gotta figure out just how to get it to the laundry room...but I should...ack!" he shook his head from side to side and sneezed after the tail whacked him in the face. "Goddamn..." he muttered out, forcing a laugh as he watched her go.
