"I act'lly see pretty good..."

Ollie was OWNING the double-meaning schtict, but who needs to know that? Turning as he steps to the side, the mariner takes a seat which he thought was right beside her, but was really about a foot or two away. Then, reaching out with a hand, he grabs her wrist lightly - ...after three of four tries.

"...see?"

Oliver then grinned and started turning her appendage over in his hand, 'looking' at it from all angles. Then, after feeling it for a moment or two, he turns his face back up at her and raises an eyebrow beneath his hat.

" 'n the hell 'appened?"

"uh huh....." she watched him as he sat down a few feet from her and groped, wincing as he grabbed her wrist and looked it over like he was a doctor or something. She really did bruise easily and the 'blood' had grabbed her wrist rather harshly "I was removed from teh presence of a blood....rather forcibly" not like it would be hard to push a small thing like her out of the way.

She was still angry about it, even if there was nothing she could do. You didn't mistreat those under you just to get your way. You used them to your own purposes sure but if they ever felt they were being used ,it would eventually lead to a revolt. She prayed to the light that he was not the oldest son and wouldn't ever rule. All the time she was speaking or thinking she kept combing her hair out with her free hand, glad to have the binding gone, now if she could just breath again. The damned binding was worst then a corset, espcially seeing as how she hadn't worn it in ages.

Feeling her wrist had actually just been an excuse to feel her palm, in search of...something. ninja

Releasing Kadoria's hand with a little sigh and a small laugh, Ollie crosses his arms. The whole 'blood-line' concept of Western Gaia had always gave him a chuckle, ever since he had come there. On Turtle Rock, there was no 'high-borns' or people of the sort; their leader was chosen by wisdom and skill, not who's mother they happened to fall out of.

"Well...you just shout for ol' Ollie next time tha' 'appens. 'll be there to whoop some a** in no time."

Of course Ollie was kidding - fighting really wasn't his thing - but if the musician was concentrating on laughing and being happy, she wouldn't notice the pain as much. A little bit of a wind was picking up... Luckily, the mariner - whom usually just wore a sleevless vest - just happened to be wearing a heavy seaman's coat today, having predicted it would be cold. Predicted; guessed - whatever. But...what about the bardess? Smiling politely, tempered just a bit with polite concern, Ollie asks,

"Cold?"

She looked at Ollie's face and laughed, the 'blood' had looked quite able to defend himself, she wouldn't wish his wrath on anyone, she had taken it before and probably would again. So she simply took it in the joking manner he meant it and laughed and he thought right the pain disappeared as she did so. "I'll take your offer into consideration"

Shivering slightly as the wind did indeed pick up, it wasn't late but it was getting to supper time, 3ish or so. Dinner was still a few hours away, hopefully the girl would be back at the temple then and she could give her the package and be on her way once more. She then heard Ollie's question and nodded a bit "yeah,a bit. but I need to wait her to give her the package back."

"Well...when 'her' gets 'ere, you ought t' be warm."

Standing up and removing his jacket in one movement, Ollie turns on the bardess with a small smile. Weariness was setting in... Tossing the jacket to the musician, the Squalle-man then throws a little salute along with it. It was time for him to bone out...

"Stay warm."

...and a second or two later, the mariner had disappeared back into the crowd of people again; leaving the coat behind. It would serve a double purpouse: keep the pretty young woman warm, and cause Kadoria to remember him if the situation got dire - he had actually been serious about the noble thing.

"Uh...thank you..?" as the coat landed on her side and he seemed to disappear into the crowd. Picking it up she wrapped it around her shoulders and leaned into it, smelling the crisp scent of the water even now on the fabric. ".....I will"? shaking her hair loosely about her shoulders as she settled down to wait for the little one, gathering her strength to deal with the brother as well.

For most of the city life went on. The people siphoned through the streets to their various destinations. The humans in the bar continued to drink until they were sore. A 'garbage collection crew' had just picked a burlap sac that had fallen form a second story window; strangely enough they also dropped off a package for a Rigel.

The same Rigel descended the staircase into the dingey old bar where the letter was delivered. He was dressed and cleaned up now, not a single sign of what he had just done. He had also taken a few supplements, giving him a calm look and a quasi-opiate walk. This combined with the rhythmic clinking of chain on each of his steps made a few of the patrons uneasy.

Rigel had honestly hoped for that.

"You Rigel alp---alp--a..." The bartender gave up trying to pronounce his last name and just showed the package.

"Why I do believe that is me. Imagine that." He smirked at the barkeep as the package changed hands, "Quite a service you have here, holding things and almost saying who they were for."

"If yer done here, get." The bartender said rather bluntly.

Rigel leaned over the counter, "I'll be done when I'm done. And until I'm done I would have expected the utmost hospitality. But it seemed that you would prefer being strung up by your own entrails than give any common courtesy, isn't that right? I can see it, for you its much more fun to be dangling from a post with your own bloody intestine around your neck, swinging in the wind. Back and forth, like a child enjoying the morning. A grand old time isn't it?"

The bartender just looked dumfounded. Rigel just put on his best smug grin.

"I'll be going now." He said with a smile, but it was the next two words that he put all his emphasis on, "See you."

-----------------

Rigel's rhythmic clink carried him outside, back into the world of people. He had been paid and now he was bored. He needed something truly bizarre to carry him over until his next job.

Scanning the area he saw nothing, just people being mundane. A butcher, a baker, a three gold whore... Ah Ha! A girl floating above the rest of crowd on a table. Grand.

Rigel could follow the table girl until things got interesting... or boring.

*Yuri stood on a street corner, reciting poetry for money. Of course, it made him no better than any street whore, giving of himself for money, but he didn't mind. He enjoyed giving people enjoyment for gold. His verse was quite good, and as he spoke, he accrued a large amount of cash. It looked quite appetizing, sitting in his cloak, and he kept a careful eye on it, to be sure that while he was involved in his recitation no wandering bum tried to cash in on his work. There wasn't much of a breeze today, and he was rather sad. The wind running through his brown locks always comforted him. He felt that he had plenty, so he gathered up his belongings, and wandered the streets, hoping for a companion, or a friend, anyone, who could ease the loneliness.
The streets were rather boring, filled with their usual assortment beggars, merchants, and merchants of another sort, which led to a boring walk. Though, after a long period of strolling, something did catch his eye. A street entertainer of sorts, but, this one happened to be a female on top of a table, floating. Of course, he had never seen such a trick before, and was quite intrigued. He joined in the mass of people following her, and hoped that where it led would be better than where he came.*

((Um....Tiel isn't literally floating. She's lying mostly unconscious on a table, which is being carried by a big burly red headed carpenter apprentice on the cusp of being a journeyman dude.

If Yuri still wants to follow her, though, feel free.

I think I've given enough time for people to notice Tiel on the table...time to arrive at the destination. I'm going to assume that Rigel and Yuri aren't going to approach until Tiel is alone...if they do, though, feel free to interrupt the action of this post.

One more thing: the door to the worshop is big, so as to allow furniture to be moved easily into and out of it. Francis left it open when he came in, so anyone outside can easily hear what's going on within.))

Francis, after wading through the crowded streets, reached the Brooks household and workshop just as the sun was setting. He tried the front door, first...it would be best if he could get Tiel up to her room.

Locked. Master Brooks must be out on business somewhere...

With a mental shrug, Francis carried both girl and table around the back of the building, where the workshop was located. These doors were only locked when all of the apprentices had gone home, or turned in for the night. He set Tiel down, shoved the door open, then carried the girl and furniture inside.

No sooner had he relieved himself of his burden than Calagon and Thomas entered the workshop, carrying the few other pieces that had not sold today. The two of them were laughing as they placed their cargo in the corner with the rest, obviously at some joke one had told before they entered Francis' earshot. The merriment ended instantly, though, when Thomas spied Tiel.

"What happened to her?" the journeyman sneered. "Did her legs give out from carrying that little chair all the way to market?"

Tiel's brown eyes opened, staring at him. "No...I..."

But before she could answer, Calagon butted in. "She can't craft it, she can't carry it; I wonder what Master Brooks did that the spirits cursed him with such a useless offspring?"

They had heard her. She knew they had. But they were doing their best to pretend that they hadn't, or that it didn't matter.

"Well, now, maybe we're underestimating her...maybe she did make it to the market," Thomas commented. "Maybe she just turned to jelly at her first glimpse of shadow magic."

"Useless and a coward," Calagon replied. "That's the worst kind, you know."

Tiel's body was shaking now, but she remained silent. There was nothing she could say that they would not ignore, and nothing she could do against them.

"Ah, well, what are you going to do about it? Master Brooks won't disown her, more's the pity. Now, if the sun tells me right, it's time we got some time of our own..."

The journeymen walked out of the workshop. Francis glanced at Tiel, decided she would be fine where she was, then scurried out after them.

Tiel watched them go, her vision clear now. She almost wished it wasn't...then she could pretend she wasn't alone. The girl sat up, hoping her legs might respond to an attempt to stand, but the moment her upper body was upright the room began to spin around her. Frightened, she lay back down, hoping this would pass.

A rhetoric tippity-tap echoed about a residence four to five houses down from the Brook's place; like some wacky type-writer - if they existed then. It kind of sounded like a miniature percussion rhythm, except...that... it was miniature.

Oliver Squalle, the Ollie himself, was sitting on a 'curb', drumming his big heart out. It's a 'curb' solely because the road he happened to be on was dirt, and the 'curb', per-say, was just a thick hump of dirt off to the side of the main street. There wasn't any set cadence to his tippity-taping, as if he were making it up as he went along - which he was. The instruments for his drumming? His fingers. The instrument itself? His spear.

The weapon crossed over the mariner's lap, and his arms were resting at his side; the only thing on him that was moving was his fingers - and of course his head, which was attempting to bob along to his nutty song. And, as usual, Ollie's hat was pulled too low; he couldn't see a damn-ed thing.

*Yuri noticed that the crowd had faded, leaving only another man and him outside a workshop. He stopped, and waited outside, not knowing what the situation was. He simply eavesdropped on the conversation that was going on inside. Of course, feeling like the defender of justice he wanted to be, his compassion kicked in. He heard what they said about the poor girl, and he knew he had to help. Of course, he knew that it wouldn't be right to just enter, but he knew what he would do. He nodded briefly to the other man, and slipped around the corner.
He waited briefly for the talking inside to stop, and for the men to leave. Of course, breaking and entering wasn't nice, but he would do it anyway. He slipped inside of the building, and knelt by the girl's table. He whispered* Hey, Girl. Are you alright? *he brought his hand up to her forehead, to check her condition. She felt a little warm, but otherwise, she didn't seem to be sick. He just stood there, kneeling, and waiting for a response.*

((Not a bed. She's still on the table.))

Tiel stared at the man as he approached her. "Who are you?" she demanded as he approached, sitting up so that he wouldn't see how weak she was. This was bad...if he tried to hurt her, she couldn't get away, and everyone was gone. "The shop is closed now..."

"Hey, Girl. Are you alright?"

She ducked away when he went to touch her, causing the room to spin faster still. Tiel clutched the sides of the table till her knuckles turned white, hoping to stop the spinning.

"I'm.....fine. Just waiting for my father. He'll be here any minute."

There was actually no telling when he would get back, not that Tiel was going to tell the strange man that.

*He nods* Oh, I must have surprised you. I hate to seem intrusive, but, I am a healer of sorts, and it looked like you needed help. I am sorry for breaking in. Don't worry, I am not going to hurt you. *he sent a simple smile her way* My name is Yuri, miss. I heard what they said about you, and I was concerned for your well-being. Would you tell me your name? If you don't want to, that is fine. *he shrugs*
