  A RED DRAGON!
I found the color scheme to be dominantly red, but there is a rich mix of cool colors like purple and blue. I saw that someone previously gave your avvie the title of parrot animagus, but the closest parrot I could associate your avatar with was a Macaw. Somehow, your avvie didn't have the "Macaw" feel to me.
I thought fox, and I thought maybe a snake, but the flames were the biggest factor in my decision.
A dragon! Your avvie portrays both warm, vibrant colors, while there are cool, confident ones to keep a certain serenity about it. Like cool highlights across a dragon's scales.

Your avatar could be a great many things, but consider the following points:
~ Your house is Slytherin: Slytherins admire power and domination. Wolves have predetorial and intelligent instincts-they are indeed powerful and beautiful creatures.
~ Your avatar is dark: it has blue and black...but there isn't a blue wolf, and I didn't think we were doing "Lisa Frank" anamagi.
~ I KNOW that you like, or at least admire and study wolves (for many reasons) so it is likely that that would contribute to my choice as well.
And....last
~ Your avatar HAPPENS to have a wolf-tail

You are a Malabar Large Spotted Civet! I knew the black and silver reminded me of an animal (I just recently was looking through endangered animal lists and saw this)
