Last night before I went to bed I wrote that verse on a piece of paper and put it underneath my pillow. I dreamt about my cats. I dreamt about someone breaking into my backyard and taking my cats (they're outdoor kitties) and then bringing them back home tortured with their eyes burnt out of their heads and their mouths burned shut.
Is a cat my totem animal or was that just a really bad nightmare?

I have had a hard time finding mine, honestly, though I do believe I know two of them, maybe three.
One of them is a cow. I have been connected to cows since I was little, strange as it might be. When I was about ten or eleven, I worked on a dairy farm with my aunt and cousins, feeding the calfs. We bottle fed most of them, and that's when I felt the first connection. Even now, I have cows all over my room (as much as I'm allowed, that is, seeing as I share a room with a younger sibling). My bed is covered in cow, cow sheets, stuffed animals, a pillow a friend made, material I keep telling myself I'm gonna make into a blanket.
The second one is a little bit of a stretch. My friend is able to see "visions" of sorts by meditating with others. Generally, she is able to seek out animal totems, and anything else. And when she tried with me, she saw a variety of animals, all in a forest, all of them everywhere she looked. A fawn, however, pressed itself more than the others. I have found myself able to get close to them without them running as they do to most people. Story-Time I was in a forest with my aunt, uncle, cousins, and sister, and my uncle and male cousin were fishing while my aunt, two female cousins, and sister were looking for a nice place to sit and have a picnic. I went wandering off, going to join my uncle. On my way, I wandered too far and got lost and stumbled across a grazing spot for deer. There were two does, three fawns, and no stag in sight. One of the fawns looked up at me and walked a bit closer to me as I stood there. He got ten feet away from me before stopping and as I took a step closer, he pranced a circle around me before walking away. Naturally, I followed. After about ten minutes, he had led me back to the lake my uncle and cousin were at. I turned to look back at it, but it was gone. End of Story-Time
The last, potential one, is a dog. I got a stuffed animal of a german shepherd when I was little and even now, when I'm 17 going on 18, I can't sleep without it near me. My dad had a Chessie named Erick, and when I would go to my grandma's house to visit, he was always there and always followed me, did anything he could to cheer me up. He died this past summer, and I haven't felt the same since then.
I couldn't tell you how I found these guides... o.O Since that seems to be the big question being asked in this topic. They just... came to me. Plain and simple.

Is a cat my totem animal or was that just a really bad nightmare? It's possible that it was just a really bad nightmare. I remember when I did it (I'd recommend putting it next to your pillow, not underneath it) I had some crazy weird dreams for 2 weeks straight. One of them involving a zoo that mistreated animals and had crazy monkies running free where I saved a baby lion (which I believe to be one of my totem animals due to the fact that I saved him in one dream and then in another dream he saved me) and another one involving me, my brother, and my dog being chased through a zoo by someone trying to kill us and us incountering two abnourmaly large, talking hippos baning their heads into the wall. Needless to say that I definetly had some wierd dreams. But, then again, I usually have some off the wall crazy dreams that lead me to waking up thinking "wtf was that?". Maybe it's something I eat... I don't know. Come to think of it... I think in one of those dreams my dog might have gotten run over and killed by a car (he was in all the dreams). I'm not too sure though... I just remember him walking out onto a busy street. I don't know....

I'm going to try a no bad dreams spell or something. =x

I know this may be a silly question on some level, but is it possible to actually have TWO animal totems? I was born in 1986 which makes me the year of the Tiger in Chinese astrology, and I've always felt this sort of affinity toward tigers and their spirit and strength. That being said, last night I chose to use the previously posted dream spell to invoke my totem to come to me... what I saw was a dog, which makes sense as well since they're my favorite domestic animal and I've had two of my own that I love very much.
Is it actually possible to have two totems, or is it better to focus your energy on one?

Yes, It's possible to have two. It's also possible to have your totems change. And having totems that you think are icky in real life.
This thread hits a hard spot on me cause i is one of my specialtyish things that I know.
Mine is a rat. razz

I'm not entirely sure what my animal is; I used to have an obsession of sorts with dragons, but now my comfort lies in snakes.
And in the past couple of months, I've found myself fascinated with spiders just out of the blue. The same time that happened, I've noticed that spiders have been following me and winding up in place that I go to more and more. [You should see some of the huge freaky spiders I get in my room]
Have I been chosen by a spider? xD

I have no idea what my animal totem is...I'm not sure if I even believe in them...I haven't done much research yet on this subject, so, i'm not really sure...Hmm...Animal totems are like astral guardians, right? Or can they just be your pet watching over you? But wouldn't that just be a familiar? O_o

I have two totems that I believe are here with me for life, but one that showed up recently and has been communicating to me in my head.
Wolf and Horse are my totems and the recent one is a Cat.

I have a family animal totem, the wedged-tailed eagle. I have always had an affinity with eagles and I used to go walking in a national park near my house just to go and visit the eagles that live there.
It wasnt until I was 15 that I got told all this stuff about the family animal totem. I wasnt supposed to be told until I was 16 (tradition says so) but because my powers had developed so early ( interested since 9, started to have natural talents at 12) my dad decided to tell me earlier.
BY the way nothing to do with Wiccans being in my family, Im aboriginal so I get my families totem/spirit guide ect. And I inherit procog stuff aswell. It's so fascinating that my culture is so similar to Wicca. Proberly because they are both nature related I guess.
