Nekura tilted his head to the side, A dark profession he guessed, something unwholesome. That was alright, he's dealt with murderers, thieves and thier ilk before. He was likely in a city filled with them now anyway.

"Well, as for the blood stains...that's why I wear red." He said with a light chuckle and then nodded his head to Ayira, "Yes, I am sure I want to know." Regardless of warnings, he was very curious now. He really wanted to know what kind of profession she had.

“I suppose that is one solution.” She said with a laugh herself. It would make sense for her to wear red seeing, as the place she owned was known as The Red Rat, but it seemed a little cheesy to her. Besides she was told greens and blues were much better looking on her, then again those that told her that usually only were after one thing. It was a thought to consider; red is a nice color after all.

“I am in the business of selling fantasies to those who can afford it.” She said in her sultry tone again. A moment later, she smiled softly and confessed, “I am the owner and lead entertainer of The Red Rat, in this district.” She said with a wink. “Were one of the most well-known places in Wynander.” She added as if she were selling the idea to him. “And that’s where I plan to pay you for your work…you said food right? After all The Red Rat is a tavern where you can get food, drinks, a place to sleep and company if you wish…though you don’t strike me as the type of man that wishes that.”

The Doctor listened to his new friend talk, still amazed by how much the man was capable of saying. At the mention of a card, he fumbled in midstep and nearly tripped. He could suddenly feel the weight of his own card pressing against his chest, and for a moment almost panicked.

Focussing on his own breathing, he barely heard the rest of what Larry had said. The imitation of the Fortune Teller was nearly perfect, and there was no doubt they had seen the same person. With a fidgetty hand his slipped the thirteenth Tarot card out from the inside pocket of his jacket and held it up.

"She gave me one, too." Severin said, his voice quiet, and with an edge of fear coming through. His eyes were troubled and a frown framed his lips. "Death."

He tilted his head to the side as he listened. He absorbed everything she said and realization dawned in his eyes, "AH! I see...that kind of company...ah no...I've...never desired it nor do I think I will unless I find someone my heart desires as well..." He chuckled lightly. He suddenly felt stupid having spout off such romanticism in the Gates of Hell itself.

He looked at her silently for a couple moments and then nodded his head, "If you direct me, I will carry you to the Red Rat...Then you can pay me for sewing up your leg. Food, or whatever you feel appropriate payment."

He blinked in his own mind, I just set myself up for a really bad situation didn't I? he thought to himself.

"...Are you serious? No, is it really-?"

Larry looked at the Card the Doctor was holding. It was different from his own Card, and the picture on the front was a shade less friendly, but the backs of the cards were the same.

"Well, for goodness sake! I suppose everyone from here to the Harbor's got one. That Fortune Teller really had me going. I wonder how many people got them. How funny!"

He fiddled around in his front pocket and presented the Doctor with his own Card, which detailed a woman leading a lion and the words, "VII STRENGTH". He couldn't help but smile a little smugly. "The Fortune Teller said this one best fits me, but I suppose that's not too hard to figure out, eh? ...Yours is pretty cool! Did you get the whole desires fuliflled bit too?"

“’Tis terrible we’er,” Zasar joked loudly to himself in a cheerful banter, hopping off one of the scattered crates sitting around the harbour, and reaching up to fix his black hat. The decorative purple feather drooped slightly in the dampness of the rain.

Pocketing the now mildly wet, and partly whittled piece of wood he had been working on earlier, he pushed the previously mentioned hat forward over his brow, and headed towards the entrance of the docks; stuffing his hands into his pockets and heading into the city at a cheerful saunter.

The Doctor nodded his head slowly, his eyes flicked from Death to Strength, then back to his own card once more. He seemed very troubled by this, and his odd ticks had started up again and his left eye would randomly flutter and twitch closed. "Yes.. she did say of such things. She claimed that this card fitted me closest..."

Sev's voice trailed off after becoming increasingly quiet. He didn't seem to believe that just anyone had gotten these odd cards, and it made him worried to even think of aushc a notion. "Why.. W-why would someone go about.. passing these cards out to people? "

And for a while all that Kismet did was walk. Nothing was looking particularly interesting or unusual, and she felt no reason to stop. All the shops were the ones she knew and clearly not a "velvet room" of any kind. At one point she paused at a stall selling apples and purchased one, trading for it a large silver coin that one of her friendlier customers had paid with.

By this time Kismet had all but given up, and was starting to think that the man from earlier was a dream her half-asleep mind had projected into the street. Certainly no one else gave the impression that they'd seen anything. Maybe it would be best to scout out some breakfast, and save the apple for lunch, provided no one tried to steal it from her.

Sighing, she crossed to the run-down tavern across the way and pushed the door open. The inside looked like it had gotten quite a makeover. In fact, it didn't appear to be the tavern at all. Did she have the right place? It had looked like the correct bulding from the outside.

"Hello?" Kismet called uncertainly. Maybe she was mistaken after all.

A faded blue light washed over the room, poorly illuminating the figures within. Shadows blanketed most of the objects and swam over whole sections of the room. In the far corner, the man who had appeared before--Nameless--ran his fingers blindly over the keys of a piano, summoning melodies that spoke to the human heart. A woman beside him wove her own voice into his song, strengthening the tragedy of which the music spoke. As though she was oblivious to all around her, a young girl stared quite intently at the painting before her, adding small dabs of paint from time to time. The final member of the shop was a man with flowing silver hair, sprawled on a sofa and flipping casually through a formidable stack of documents.

"Let us see...If I am correct, you are Mistress Kismet Shahnaz?" He did not look up at her, his eyes busily scanning over a set of papers he laid across the sofa. "You're here for to summon your Persona, correct? The bargain is almost completed; they're really quite fussy about this on the Other Side, but I doubt that there will be a problem. No need to fret."

Emi didn't react to what he had said at all, rather just stood there. As she watched him walk the other way she felt a rain drop on her nose as it twiched. She looked up at the clouds and started to walk the same way as the man did. Keeping her hands in her jacket pocket, she slowly followed the man which ironically as Emi though was going in the same direction as her, she just wanted to get this business she had done and over with so she could go back to her shop and wait for the individual to arrive.

"Ah! Thallasar! There you are." A baker emerged from the tarp under which he was sitting, his wrinkled smile sagging bitterly. "I thought you had disappeared on me."
Rubido stared up at the gray sky and took off his feathered hat, running a hand through his short hair before replying. He grinned. "Now Sir, I wouldn't do that. I always finish a job once I start one. And besides..." Rubido lowered his voice, his eyes sparkling like those of an eager child. "You are paying me very well. I don't know how long it's been since I had fresh bread."

The aged man looked a little askance, but there was laughter in his voice as he spoke. "I expect good work for it. Now, if you would, Gentleman...?"

Without further prompting, Rubido exchanged his awkward hat for a handful of nails and a makeshift hammer- he had dealt with the man once before, and trusted him not to run off with the garment. For the bread, he had agreed to convert a small, half-rotten cart to a somewhat-stable food stand. "Perishable" wares, he was told, were much better sold by stand than dusty blankets. As drizzle misted his progress, Rubido crouched near the newly prepared boards and set to work.

Kismet gasped, putting her hand over her chest protectively again. This was most certainly NOT the shack of an eatery she thought it was. She did catch a glimpse of the man she'd encountered on the street, accompanied by a pair of females. It seemed to be a sort of artists studio in its own way, with music and paintings, though before she could ask another man spoke to her.

"I am she," Kismet began, as warily as she had on the street. "I apologize if I'm early." Though it was better than being late, she supposed. Perhaps she didn't have to hurry after all, though once she thought about it the woman wasn't aware she had hurried. What was she hurrying towards anyway? An appointment with a nameless stranger?

And then the talk turned confusing. What the man spoke of- Personas, Other Sides- went completely over Kismet's head. "I'm sorry... I'm afraid I'm not sure what you're talking about. I was simply I had an appointment, so I came."

She did not take out the tarot card yet. Something in her didn't want to show it to others.

As if noticing Feyd for the first time, Elliot leaned back, watching the other man curiously. "My mistress calls them beasts, but they're actually demons. Quite a difference, really. Some of them are fairly clever, not dumb animals at all."

"Not dumb animals!" Adlei exclaimed. "Did you see what that thing did to those people in Lystar? We need to get away from here before we leave a scent for the monsters."

Feyd listened in silence as they spoke. The strange one called the girl mistress, a servant of her aristocratic family perhaps? He acted terribly familiar with her though, too familiar then would be proper for most servants.

The mention of the beasts, demons, whatever they were, worried him. Unlike most of Kensington’s businesses the Theater had never been attacked, never been searched. The entertainment it provided gave it protection from the Peace Enforcement raids.

Demons wouldn’t know that though.

Frowning Feyd stood, glancing to the windows as though expecting to see a beast hovering beyond the drapes. He did not want the theater to be attacked, but turning out the boy and girl seemed wrong. He was certain now that they were no lackeys of Sehket.

Turning back to the two he swallowed and spoke, tone earnest. “Can I help? Do you need anything? Not— not all the props here are props.”

Indeed, many a fake sword was suspiciously real; it was a good thing the theater had never been raided.

Grondax looked up from his seat as a droplet of water dripped upon his ledger. The whole page would have to be re-written. "What a pain, I should have seen this storm coming. I had my normal headache this morning."

Grondax laughed to himself as he got up and walked out the door, "Could have been a rain man, but I had to carry on the family business."

Grondax made his way towards Kensington. He decided he should take this rare trip to kenningston as a chance to check on some acquaintances. "What a busy day this is turning out to be, but when there is profit to be had, people to control..." Grondax mumbled to himself as he entered the theater doors.

Igor

Pushing the papers aside, Igor reclined against a pillow, one arm flung over the the back of the sofa. "My name is Igor. I, like the others here, am a being who is able to transcend space and time. I welcome you to the Velvet Room." He gave a quick bow of the head and continued, "We serve a being known as Philemon. He maintains order between the different worlds in existence, and we are given the task of transporting individuals between the realms.

"Something...well, something unfortunate has happened in this world." A frown formed on his lips, eyes appearing exhausted. "Philemon did not anticipate it, but Sehket has taken control in this little corner of existence. This must be undone...before Sehket is able to build more power."

Igor closed his eyes, laying his head to one side and exposing a smooth line of flesh from his bare shoulder to his chin. "Philemon needs you, my dear. You see, there are powerful soldiers in other worlds that can fight Sehket. The only way we can bring them here, into this world, is...if we have something that connects them to Wynander."

Eyes opened again, and he turned to Kismet with a smile. "That's you. There are people like you who exist in these other worlds, and your other 'selves' are the warriors who can challenge Sehket. We must bring him here, the you that exists on that Other Side of the mirror. We will summon the deepest part of your unconscious and allow it to manifest itself as a man."

Adlei observed Feyd's obvious discomfort and realized that they were overstaying their welcome. Leaning towards Elliot, she slid her hand over his cheek once again and frowned. "Elliot, we can make some distance... But it'll be hard in your condition, and it's warm outside--"

"Mistress, you shouldn't frighten the poor gentleman," he interrupted, hoping that his smile would relieve some tension in the room. "Sehket is not yet strong enough to have his demons search a city by daylight. We should rest, unless..." He paused, a mischevious grin appearing on his face. "Unless you wish to find me the fountain of that greedy little fairy."

This seemed to cause Adlei to redden, her brows furrowed in annoyance. "No! We'll stay then." Turning to Feyd, she apologized. "I'm sorry for causing you concern. I'm certain that my companion is correct, and your theatre will be kept safe until nightfall."

Elliot leaned on one arm and winked at Feyd.
