Added note: I thought about where to post this, but decided now was as good a time as any. I just wanted to say how proud I am for being so strong in the face of such adversity. I can't say I've had to go through EXACTLY what you are, as the closest I've come to cancer scares is that my mom has alot of fibrous tumors in her breats, but none of them have ever been malignant, thank goodness.

I have however lost a brother and a sister who were born severly handicapped. I don't remember my little brother much, because he died when I was 3, but my little sister died when I was 20, right on Halloween day. Laura and Jared were both born with malfunctioning hearts, kidneys, epilepsy, blindness, partial deafness, severe cerebral palsy...and a whole lot more. I remember most about my sister the fact that she could never walk or talk, feed herself or do anything for herself, she loved to play jokes when she had the opportunity...that and I remember when we adopted my youngest brother how jealous she was, and every time he'd go to pull himself up on her wheelchair, she'd kick him. (he was 15 months old when we adopted him, but hadn't learned to walk yet) I remember watching her go downhill near the end...having to spend more and more time in a hospital..having to go on oxygen...the fact that she started sleeping close to 20 hours a day before she died. I took over her care from my mom when I hit my senior year of high school cause I knew how hard it was on her, and wanted to give her a break, so I took over all of her med schedule, dressing, bathing, what have you. I know how hard it is to watch them go downhill, and it just tears your heart out.

The youngest brother, the one we adopted, has been having problems of his own...About two years ago, he went from being so active you basically had to tie him down to get him to sit still, to being so tired he could barely do much of anything. He started shaking uncontrollably all over his body, minor seizures, his legs would get so weak all of a sudden that he's fallen down stairs a few times...and he's only 20. We finally got an appointment in with the Mayo clinic, and they've done alot of testing, and decided he had Progressive Epilipletic Myoclonus (hence why he was shaking all over..arms, legs, hands...even his tongue shook) but they still haven't figured out exactly what is the real reason behind his problems. His doctors have since started fiddling with his meds, and found something that has made it much better, and he's stopped shaking like he used to, but it has been so hard to see the change in my brother's life. We don't know how long this will last, and we have a pretty good idea that what it has been ruled down to that his overall chances of survival are NOT good, but we're enjoying the fact that his strength has come back for now...but we all know it probably won't last.

I send my love to you and your family...again, I want to say how proud I am of you for doing what you are, and if you ever need anything, I'll be here for you. ^.^ *huggleluff*
