Eventually the clear sky would show something approaching, if astra were paying attention to it in addition to his thoughts of bananas. As it neared, he'd make out an airship -- one definitely not of some transdisk variety. Did this kid have connections, or was he just a lucky duck? No bus for this student.
Maji sighed as he propped his elbows on the railing, leaning over a little more than he problaby should as he scanned the rather desolate area below him. The captain was undoubtedly worrying his head off, like he had this whole trip - Maji envisioned the antsy looks behind him and couldn't help but giggle slightly to himself. His guardian since he had left his african home, a well-off pirate (if his ride wasn't any indication), had an important engagement (when didn't he?), and had entrusted Maji's safety on this trip to another captain. It sure wouldn't go well for him if the kid fell overboard, but yet he was almost afraid to say something to Maji, who in the captain's opinion was a little on the....crazy side.
Maji grinned to himself as he fiddled with his mp3 player to find some song he hadn't listened to yet (these things never held enough songs!), and thought about sitting on the railing itself just to see if the guy would freak out. >D

Astra scanned the horizon, looking for the typical bus and humming the wheels on the bus song. He was interrupted rather rudely by the sound of a descending mass. He looked up, crimson eyes blinking innocently.
Why hello ship!
He wondered if it was friendly, and waved at it with a vacant but pleased look on his face. How he loved pirates.

Having finally given up with something new for music, Maji lowered his headphones with a sigh and was about to alleviate his boredom (and raise the captain's bloodpressure) by sitting on the railing when he looked down and realized they were nearing a compound of sorts. Was that the Academy? It looked pretty dark, but at the same time, interesting. His eyes lit up and a grin spread across his face as he grasped the railing and leaned forward to get a better look.
He was vaguely aware of the captain's nervous voice behind him asking him to please please come back from the rail as he squinted his eyes, focusing on the gates.
...was there someone down there waving at them?! Maji knew he was expected but at the same time he couldn't help but snicker at the thought of someone waving a greeting at a pirate ship. As the captain finally gave up and yelled at the crew to ready the ship to land, the hyena boy kept an eye on the waving figure.

Astra cheerfully wandered over to the pirate ship, shouting loud and obnoxious yet highly friendly greetings at them. Oh man, pirates! It had been such a long time since he had seen any at all.
He shuffled up to watch it land, eerily close to it and nothing moved but his pimp coat in the landing ship's air waves.
He hummed "yo ho ho a pirate's life for me" while waiting, of course making up his own words inside his head. Oh man, Astra couldn't wait at all. So exciting! He wondered if they had grog.

Maji raised a brow at the overly cheerful person, finally moving away from the railing as the captain thanked every god above to finally be on ground and near being rid of the crazy kid. In fact, Maji's stuff was already waiting by the gangplank as it lowered, allowing him to debark even quicker.
As Maji headed that way he tilted his head as his ears picked up astra's humming. Oh gods, that was the ONLY song people ever thought of when they saw pirates anymore. Rolling his eyes he grabbed his bags, completely ignoring the captain who was suddenly being sugary sweet and telling him how he hoped he had fun on the flight and that he wished him luck here, and all that gobbledygook.
His mp3 player had picked a nice loud song at that moment, much to Maji's enjoyment as he headed down the gangplank and onto solid ground, still watching the curious person humming his little pirate song.

Astra meandered towards Maji, still humming and making up his own words. Sometimes they'd slip out, and the words would be bizarre in context. Like 'lampshades' and 'whole wheat.'
He greeted the young boy, though Astra knew Maji couldn't hear him.

Maji couldn't hear him, but he could read lips - something he'd forced himself to learn for several reasons when he was younger - and it was a very useful ability. As tempted as he was to question the 'lampshades' and 'whole wheat' thing, he refrained and merely nodded to Astra.
Then, out of a rare act of courtesy, he paused his player and pulled the headphones down as he looked past Astra to the gates. "Nice place. Nice, BIG place. Could be fun." He then glanced to Astra finally and grinned toothily.

Astra grinned back just as wide, revealing fangs as fearsome as Maji's, yet someone not even close to intimidating. "It's smaller than it looks, Mr. Hyena Small Man," Astra said solemnly, before grinning again. He started off on an almost frolic towards the gates, waiting for Maji in front of them.
He had his hands in his pockets, and was watching Maji with a grin. "You got a feed, Little Small African Pirate Child?"

Maji was amused by astra's grin. Heck, astra amused him in general, with his quirks. The hyena boy was rather tired of 'normal' people, and was beginning to really warm up to this place.
He hid a slight bit of disappointment at the comment of the academy being smaller than it looks, then cocked his head to the side at astra's question.
"A feed?" Heh. Little Small African Pirate Child was amusing yet, somehow accurate. He decided to let the little and small comments slide, since well, he was 10. He just didn't like being reminded of it, as a rule, since he considered himself much older than that mentally.

Astra snickered. "Just tuggin your chain, Small Hyena Boy. It's massive inside and out!" He threw his hands up, and laughed gaily.
"And yep! Feed. I guess you don't then. But it's a Tiny Nice Chip-Into-The-Brain!" Astra giggled and pointed to the back of his neck. "We get to go see Sir Mouse if you don't~"

Maji blinked, his self-assuredness faltering for the briefest moment. "Into the brain?" That didn't sound pleasant, not at all. "What's this feed thing for, anyway?"
If something was going into his brain it had better be something USEFUL.

Astra grinned. "Lots of things. School, writing, reading, maps, communication, doors, locks, keys," at this Astra cast his eyes towards the towering gates, wrought of iron harsher than steel, and they creaked open with hardly a bat of his eyes. "As well as cooler things, like internet, facts, and of course the most important piece: music."
He took off on a penguin march, displaying fuzzy kitten slippers on his feet from under his robe and baggy pants. "It's also nice if you want to talk to the walls. They see lots of things," Astra said, nodding his head assuringly.

Maji tried to think of how this 'feed' thing could be used for some of the things astra mentioned (Writing? How bizarre!), and was starting to zone out a bit until astra hit the magic word: music.
The hyena boy blinked again. "Music?" he asked, with a slightly eager tone. "Just how much music?" Already the other 'uses' of the feed were being forgotten as he thought of the possibilities.
Surely it couldn't rival his beloved mp3 player, could it?

Astra grinned at Maji. "I don't think a limit has yet been reached for anyone. Most music players these days hold what, a few terabytes? Imagine that but tripled, then tripled again and again." He laughed again, brighter than ever.
Astra wandered into the gates, the metal bars closing behind Maji, snapping at his tail. The thick doors of the Academy parted before them, foot thick metal gliding across the floor.

Maji's eyes got a faraway look at the thought of that much music as he followed Astra through the gates, nearly getting his tail clipped for his inatentiveness. "Wow," was all he could manage to say as he pondered this 'feed'.
"How does it do with multitasking?" he asked, curious now, and is attention back down to earth (for the moment). He would hope something like this could several things at once.
