Abel idolizes his father to an almost unhealthy degree -- if Shai can do it then he wants to. Alphonse - 'Ready for battle'
Alphonse is constantly struggling, always trying to reign in his temper and control the rage that wants to lash out at anyone and everyone . He's terrified of himself and acutely aware of the anger boiling in his chest, trying his best to stamp it out before it gets loose. Over the years he's done a fairly good job at containing it but Alphonse is just waiting for himself to slip up, practically promising he will if he doesn't learn to trust himself.
Alphonse lacks patience, struggling to be helpful when others need to vent or even find the ability to care pass initial concern. He's better with active response, lunging forward to protect someone or running off to actively fix the problem. He is often restless, shoving his paws into the next project whenever he can. He just can't be stagnant, constantly biting at the chomp for the next fun thing. He also needs to find it for himself, disliking any attempt at authority over him (and often directly doing the opposite).
While he can be blunt, loud, and sometimes sarcastic to the bone, Alphonse is also clever, protective, and curious, making him an excellent person to waste some time with.
