As you fight against a strong gust of wind, you feel something pull! Uh-oh. There's a pain in your wing muscle that hadn't been there before. This isn't good, especially this high up! Still, your dragon fights on.

Pain lanced up Pellereth's wing as he's buffeted back once more, but he's just too tired to give more than an irritated grunt. Exhaustion this early on, weighed even heavier by the low keen in his chest and in his hearts for one more dragon to not make it home.

Nothing to flame quite yet, which is almost a miracle in this sort of Threadfall. Still, you're able to relax a moment, look around, and take note of your airspace. All's well... for now.

I'lin's hand on his neck feels so far away in the din of quiet, as Pellereth curled almost lazily, exhausted as he waited for the next clumps to appear.

Once more, the wind blew him back, and though Pellereth's muscles ached in protest, he's able to get out of his free fly and snapping back into formation. Perhaps just a bit more alert once more.

A sharp bellow of fire is aimed at a falling clump of thread, now that he had one in his sights -- but his flame fell short, and they watched in dismay as it continued to tumble towards the lower wings. Oof...

As the wind buffeted him back once more, his muscles ached and screamed as he strained to right himself once more -- and this time, Pellereth roared in defiance.

Catching a clump of Thread after changing direction made Zeath snarl in pain, but they jumped Between just in time to miss a huge clump of falling Thread. Reappearing, a sudden pain lanced through Zeath's heart as he sensed a dragon from another wing that was gone. He joined in the cries of sorrow and pain as M'aze hung on tightly, his face grim. It was a dangerous life they lead but every death was painful. Later, though. For now they had to focus.

Being small had its advantages, and while Zeath was still a bronze and still quite big all things considered, for his size he was certainly lacking in length. It allowed him to be a bit more maneuverable though and he pulled off a pretty graceful (for him!) barrel roll to avoid Thread as he seared down another clump.

A roar of pain and sorrow left Zeath, still affected by the loss of one of their own, and he flamed down a frankly impressive swath of Thread. M'aze had to admit that while pain and suffering wasn't fun, it could be a great motivator.

Working hard to stay in formation, M'aze spotted one of their wingmates in trouble. He leaned down against Zeath's neck, speaking quietly to his dragon with his mindvoice to get his attention. The bronze turned and spotted the danger, but rather than cry out he twisted and flamed the Thread from the sky instead. Phew!

15. Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, but your dragon is just too tired to care. The wind is too much! Moderate Damage -5HP Your dragon also now suffers Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect, Guilt, Bitten Tongue, etc.) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care. The only exception is if you get a status that cures Fatigue or your Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls a status cancelling roll.)

While trying to save his wingmate, the maneuver he used ended up blowing Zeath right out of formation. He struggled to keep his place but ended up having to fight hard to get back. Between than and the sorrow in his hearts M'aze could feel his bronze's strength wavering. It wasn't ideal, but he'd let him rest, keeping an eye out for any Thread that might come close.

Zamistia was glad the pain she had Nanuth had been feeling had subsided. It allowed both of them to breathe and focus on taking out as much Thread as they could. Unfortunately, the moment did not last long as a keen came from her beloved brown. Her heart froze, wondering who might have been lost already in today's Threadfall. Any life lost was terrible, but her mind worried it was one of those she cared about or Nanuth's family.

Nanuth, who...who died?she asked, her voice trembling.

Thella and brown Lireloth, they were from Trespassers Wing,Nanuth replied quietly to his rider.

A fellow brown rider..that is horrible,Misty thought back, feeling a few tears escape from her eyes from under her goggles. While it wasn't anyone she knew, it was a life and one who had loved ones that would be mourning this day. She stroked her brown's neck, but for now, they had to get back to work as Thread would not stop for a death.

Hour 1, Round one (High Altitude)
1. 9) The wind is strong and trying hard to buffet you. If brown or bronze you see one of your wingmates struggling against the wind. They're getting blown out of their empty airspace, and dangerously close to a patch of Thread! You are able to twist and accurately flame down the clump they were going to fly into, saving them from Threadscore! Quote a Wingmate that took Threadfall Damage and nullify it! Blasted all! As you jump Between to avoid a clump of Thread, the winds change, and when you appear from the icey depths, it's right into a major sheet of Thread! Heavy Damage: -8 HP! They also now suffer a Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).

3. 14) The thread is thick and coming down fast. Unlike the lower wings, you don't have to chase this Thread around -- it's just about everywhere you turn! This is what your dragon was made for, this is what you, as a rider, were meant to do. Burn down those Threads so they are no longer a threat to your wingmates and the people of Pern! Your dragon flames a patch ahead of them, clearing some airspace for your wingmates below. +1 Flame Length (negated by painful effect)

Zamistia had been right about their need to focus, despite the aches in the hearts of her beloved brown. She and Nanuth were surrounded by Thread, it was so very thick. Of course, she knew that up here, that was the way it always was. Well, she directed Nanuth all over, who made sure to flame down anything in sight.

We can't let anyone else die this day. That includes those we care about..and ourselves. I will not allow us to die too,Nanuth thought firmly as he flamed down more tendrils of Thread.

Zamistia noticed a clump right in front of them, feeling Nanuth would be able to handle it. Unfortunately, right before she brought it to her brown's attention, the wind had other ideas. It pushed it away from them, but she knew they couldn't let it potentially harm anyone else.

Don't worry, I can catch it,Nanuth assured, as he tried to fly in the direction of Thread. They didn't seem to be getting any closer, so on suggestion of his rider, he jumped Between. Maybe this would help them avoid the wind and allow them to get close enough to flame the Thread. He popped back from Between, but he issued a roar of pain a moment later. It seemed they had found it, by winding up right in the clump.

I am sorry, love,Misty quickly apologized, wincing from the pain as her dragon popped back into Between. They came back out, once they felt the coldness had killed it.

It is okay, My Light, the wind was against us,the brown assured his red headed rider.

Zamistia was reminded once more just how dangerous it was up here. Just after they wound up in Thread, more is blown right there way. She lets out a cry of pain as it hits the leg it got earlier. She is at least of enough mind to order Nanuth Between, which he does without a second of hesitation. When they return from Between, Zamistia is wincing a bit as she brushes off the frozen Thread.

This Thread is really asking for it today. Attacking me is one thing, but I do not appreciate it hurting you,Nanuth hissed in anger. Next Thread, he was going to make it pay dearly.
