Jin light caressed to top of her hand, surprised but happy that she seemed to like to be near him. He really was worried for her, she was strong, but fragile at the same time. As the carriage rumbled past the well, be saw that man again. "Oh it's just him, no need to stop. He shouldn't be around you Tatsuko, he has no control. And I don't trust him... he has some sort of mind power that could prove very dangerous. Let's go back to the manor."

As the carriage passed, Lei smiled and bowed. He then turned and began to walk back torwards the compound. Readjusting his arm once again, stupid sling wouldn't stay in place. Lei stopped and turned to see the carriage far past him now. He slipped his arm out of the sling and pulled the cloth piece from around his neck. It was only a bad bruise, he could handel it without the sling.

Tatsuko was about to nod, when she noticed the mirror flashing brightly as the drove past. "Wait! Please turn around!" She looked up at Jin, a small pout on her face. "I know you don't get along with him, but look!" She showed him the mirror, and how the symbol for sword was shrinking the farther they went away from Lei. "He must be the other warrior. Please Jin. We have to find out."

Lei made it back to the compound and made his way back to his room, he wouldn't be doing anything much till his arm healed and the wound on his neck was closed over properly. He entered what would be his barracks, lying on his bunk was a uniform, including a basic suit of armor all the men wore. There were other men milling about the barracks one stopped and looked at Lei.
"You better watch that tounge of yours, that man you were fighting with, he could have you killed with a word." the man patted Lei on the back, "Its our job to protect them, not argue with their orders..." the man walked off.

"I know..." Lei sighed, suddenly feeling very sad and alone. He quitely and neatly put his gear away in the foot locker and sat down on his bunk. He drew his knee up to his chest and rested his head on it.

Lei had managed in the first day to make a good impression on everyone, then piss off the local lord, and make a bad impression on everyone....what else could he screw up in his first day.

((Um... Jin is a lord, and has his own men. He doesn't need troops... if you want Jin to let him go with the priestess, then he needs to be training... I understand not knowing about your powers, but this random junk is really annoying and Jin, as a character will never let your character near Tatsuko... why don't you try doing something believable instead of just speaking for the Emperor and sending troops. Even asking for help would be a normal thing to do))

((I edited it...content?
And Lei's powers aren't random, they are untrained, like when Nakago was a child and he kept using it without trying to. He is a blacksmith from a small city, he has no use for his powers, so he never trained them.))

((Wow... your character when from not really fitting into the setting to just falling into place! I was going to pm you with my praise, but I figured I should make it public too. I'm impressed, that was a great post! Here's a thought, if you want to get Lei into the rp with Suboshi, Amiboshi and Tatsuko... maybe he can ask for help with his powers?))

((Hes in the military now, he can't leave unless ordered to...and everyone in the compound will look at him like "Do we look like sorcerers to you?"))

Since the man had disappeared into the barracks, it seemed he was part of the Army. "We don't have to worry about that one for the moment... I don't think he'll be going anywhere. You are too tired to continue today. We'll come back tomorrow." As they pulled up to the gate of his manor, the footman opened the door. He noticed Tatsuko's face, and he realized the priestess hadn't liked leaving the potential warrior behind. He sighed a bit and the footman said, "Lord Jin, your father needs to speak to you." Jin looked surprised and nodded, it was rare when his father actually wanted to talk to him. Part of Jin's normally cool demeanor came from his father, although Jin wasn't quite as bad, the temperance coming from his caring mother. He looked to the servents that came out to attend him and his guests. He looked to the nearest girl, "Please take Lady Tatsuko to her room, and prepare a room for Amiboshi as well, he will be staying with us..."

He left and went to his father's part of the manor, and he was introduced into his father's private study. Jin could only remember one time he'd ever been in this room, and that was when his father had told him of his older brother's death. Jin figured that was alot of the reason his father was cold to him, Xiaoping had been favored, and now the religious, flighty warrior was his heir. "Come in," the older man said in his deep, commanding voice. He had stripes of grey in his long, black hair, that started at his temples. He was dressed in elegant orange robes, though he wasn't formally dressed, his hair was tied back in a loose ponytail. The older noble motioned for Jin to sit, so he did immediately. Hourang paced in front of his window, "I hear you have found the Priestess of Seiryuu?"

"Yes Father, she is here now."

"I would expect nothing less, but she is the girl that will save the country, and I doubt you can protect her alone."

"But father..." Hourang cut him off with a harsh glance. Jin looked down and his father continued, "I'm going to send for troops, our house guard is well trained, as they should be since Xiaoping trained them before he died, but under your guidence I fear they are less then what we need. I'm going to ask the Emperor for extra men, to keep her safe." Hourang looked directly at his son with his cold, blue eyes and said, "If something happens to her, I will hold you responsible. Your mother is with child again, and I hope it is a straonger heir then you are proving to be." Jin bowed his head, "Yes father," was all he said and with a wave of his hand, the Lord dismissed him. As Jin left, he nearly took out his embarassment and frustration on a serving girl that walked by, like he normally did, but he thought about Tatsuko, and something made him stop. "Maybe I should ask for that boy to come... it would probably make Tatsuko happy..." He walked back down the hall, toward his own rooms.

It hadn't taken Lei long but soon he was walking the grounds and found what he was looking for, the Smith's shop. He walked in and a large man was pounding away at some metal, Lei was dressed in his cloth clothes, ones sutiable for getting dirty. the large man stopped and dunked the piece of metal into the water.
"Can I help you lad, perhaps they sent you for a weapon?" the jolly man asked chuckling.

"I havea very fine weapon, I am Shao Lei, I was wondering if you needed a hand in the shop. I am a fine blacksmith." Lei bowed.

The man smiled, "Shao, I've haven't heard that name in these parts in years, Son of Joa Shao correct?"

"Yes sir."

"Let me see your blade." the man motioned at the sword tied at Lei's side.

Lei drew the blade and offered it to the man.

The man whiped his hands clean and walked over and took the blade. With a few hmmms, he shook his head, "This is Shao work if I ever did see it. You forge this boy?"

"Yes sir."

"Well then, I've got about a dozen basic sword needin to be made, and an order for a new captians blade. You'll find your way around, get to it!"

Lei bowed, and then found an apron and some gloves, both a bit too big. He then went to work, finding most of the metal already preprepped. This took Lei's mind off of the chaos of the day.

With a small pout, Tatsuko nodded. He was right. She had a rather long day today, and it would probably be best for her to get some sleep. Following behind the serving girl, she was soon taken to a beautiful bedroom. Everything was in blue hues, which she understood. Tatsuko smiled, putting her bag down on a chair and plopping down onto the bed. It was very comfortable, she felt like she could just sink into it. Smiling slightly, Tatsuko pulled herself out of the bed, as she walked over to her bag. It was a personal habit of hers to do some studying before she went to sleep.

Pulling out her notebook and some of her school books, Tatsuko went back to the bed, a pencil dangling out of the corner of her mouth as she started to read. She hadn't bothered to change out of her clothing, since she didn't have anything to change into. Atleast, that she had noticed. There was a robe hanging off the back of a chair for her, but she had been too engrossed in her books and the room. Her eyes lifted off of her books for a moment, sighing. She took the pencil out of her mouth, as she sat up. Tatsuko couldn't concentrate on her books. Glancing about, as if checking to see if there was a spy or something in the room, she pulled out a second notebook. This one was a simple composition book, with a blue and silver cover.

The book was empty, as Tatsuko had always meant to fill it with something important. She just hadn't come up with anything. That is, until now. Pulling out a blue pen, she opened the book and began to write. It was going to be a journal, telling her story as the Priestess of Seiryuu. She didn't figure it would be worth anything except to her, but it would be something she would be able to remember. Besides, it might just give Shinsei's great grandmother something interesting to read.

Starting at the beginning, Tatsuko began to write. Everything that had happened that day, including some interesting bits about her feelings. Even though she didn't mean to, a good amount of the entry ended up being about Jin. A small blush crossed her cheeks as she wrote more. She really did feel comfortable around him. Though, she ended up blushing quite a bit when she was in his presence. Or when she thought about him. Or when he touched her. Well, she just ended up blushing when Jin was either on her mind, or at her side. Why is that? Could I be? No... that's silly. I've only known him for a day.

She giggled a little, closing the book and putting it back in her bag. Then, she removed her jacket, shoes, vest and skirt, hanging them on the back of a chair. Tatsuko curled up in the bed, snuggling underneath the covers, even though there was no need for them, and started trying to drift off.

After about the 4th blade, the blacksmith noticed Lei's pace slowing and that he began to favor his left arm. He walked over and patted Lei on the back as he finished the forth one.
"Ya better get to the chow hall or you won't be eatin tonight." the old man smiled.

"I'm not hungry." Lei set the hammer down and wiped the sweat off his face with the back of his right arm.

"Yes well, still, you know blacksmithing is a job taxing on the whole body, and one injury can throw you off." The man stood back crossing his arm, motioning at Lei's left arm. "Especialy if its in your arm. Now go, You've done more work then most of my aides combined, I'll make sure your comanding officer gets a good word, take a sting off a few mishaps." the man chuckled.

Lei sighed then smiled, "Thank you sir, it helped take a few stings out already." Lei walked over and pulled off the gloves and apron. He looked in what may have once been a mirror, but now was covered in soot and ash and resembled an unpolished metal sheet, but he could still see the dirt and soot all over his face, and it felt good.

Jin went by Tatsuko's room, the door was opened slightly. He figured one of the handmaids must have left it open a bit. He peeked in, seeing the sheer curtains pulled around the beautiful bed, with the priestess sleeping soundly under the blankets. He leaned his head against the door jamb and watched her for a few moments, then turned to leave back to his rooms. He had wanted to ask her about the boy, but he was content to let her sleep. He sent a servent to tell his father to request the new member of the guard. He sighed, melencholy settling on his shoulders...

Tatsuko had rolled over in the bed, being unable to sleep. One of her eyes slipped open, as she had heard a noise. There, she saw Jin turning to leave. She sat up, slowly, looking over at him. "Jin..." she said softly, a small blush on her cheeks, "you... don't have to go right now. I can't really sleep, and I could use the company." She still had the blankets over her lap, so that she was still decent. She really did want Jin to stay.
