Ha! XD I would do the same, just going along with it. Although they should realize you'd probably actually reply to them instead of just post 🤔 Oh well xD So far everyone is usually doing the same as me so I haven't run into that quite yet. Most of the time I just randomly hit one but the nod is definitely one of my favorites. In high school one of my friends picked on me for it because he hadn't seen it before (I guess mostly gaians used it). He was like "what does that even mean??". Only cool kids know cool
Haha yeahhh Gaia has definitely influenced my posting habits. For a while there, only really annoying people were saying "lol" so I cut that habit. Years later.. and currently... everyone says lol like it's no big deal. Heck, if you don't say it, it can come off as rude. So I've had to retrain myself to use 'lol' XD;
Nod has always been one of my favorites too. XD It's just so cute. I hadn;t really thought about how it isn't ever really used outside of Gaia
As to emoticons only Gaians know... I used to do a version of the nod using >:3 And that turned into >3 as shorthand The Gaians around me used it too and it's understood as maybe being a little teasing or mischievous or silly. You know, saying uhhhh " We need pizza! >3 " Anyway, my friend and I were IMing a guy we knew but hadn't spoken to in years. We're all just friends. And I used that text emoticon without thinking. And XD he replied with " <3 " in return because he thought I'd messed up the heart! XD; I about died. But it's all cool cuz he's the kind of guy who'd use the heart in text without it meaning anything. I just... let that one slide and moved on because I didn't want to have to explain the whole thing. But XD I learned to be more careful about my text emoticon usage. It's a good thing that happened in a harmless situation.
