Izobel Beckett (Black Widow from Marvel)
Izobel didn't know exactly what was going on. The teen had been trying to scope out any information on the shape of the maze but it had been real hard to gaze out the window as the whiteness took over. Failing to do that the teen circulated back to where the tables where that were offering free candy and chose a few candy bars at random and pocketed them. Free sugar was just that, free. As Izobel moved back towards the windows all hell broke loose. First thing to go were the lights. The entire hall was cast into darkness and Izobel could hear glass shards hitting the floor as the windows exploded inwards. Oh, this was a perfect time to have left something really important at home. Ducking down Izobel peered at the panicking crowd before realizing that staying put in fear was not an option. She needed to escape too. With all the courage she could muster Izzy began to run towards the only exit that could be seen in the darkness. Lit like a beacon the Neon fire exit sign drew in everybody in the room. Izobel managed to make her way towards the door as well. With so many people heading towards the same exit there were bound to be times when one would bump into another person. Izzy didn't get bumped much but she did feel herself bump into others before she managed to reach the door and step outside.

Rayna Farrell - as Wednesday AddamsRayna hadn't expected the lights to go out or the windows to shatter. Neither had she expected to hear sounds earlier in the evening as the temperature dropped. Her keen mind was almost classifying this as a paranormal event and she itched to have her trusty tape recorder with her. Shaking her head though and feeling the braids down both sides of her head smack lightly in a reaction Rayna stepped towards the glowing "Exit" sign. In her mind she knew something was up and her although she wasn't liking the idea, she had to stay in civilian form. There was no telling if the lights would come back on immediately or not. The seconds it took for the decision to be made Rayna had already suffered a few collisions with other people's flailing limbs. One in particular had smashed hard into her ribs and she gasped for air before feeling something skitter by her leg. Although a fan of the paranormal, ghosts could not be tangible things. Rayna set her sights on making it to the door. Arian Laith - dressed in jeans, polo neck and a sweater Saffron Laith - dressed as a witchArian found his lips quirking up into a small smile despite himself at Anxo's antics, I guess" he admitted quietly, although the lack of effort had been deliberate on his part "Although given the theme that you and Saffy have going between you something more Wizard of Oz style probably would have been more apt." He finished what was left of his sandwich before reaching out to snag some of the bits of straw that had decided to escape from the dorky hat that Anxo had managed to somehow rustle up from somewhere, the half a star pendant at his neck swaying at the movement as he added "But really I'm good thanks." It was Saffron's turn to sigh at that, because the words were almost the same as the ones that Arian had used earlier when she'd first commented on his lack of a costume.
She shivered slightly and tried to hide the motion as a part of her wondered if she needed to find someone to talk to about the apparent lack of central heating and then decided to ignore it - at least for now.
"Maybe they'll open up the maze soon" because perhaps wandering around would be enough to...
Her thoughts came to a screeching halt as the lights flickered and died, followed by the sound of shattering and panicked screams and then she was stumbling as people came stampeding towards her.Despite being temporarily distracted by Anxo, it had been hard to escape the sense of something being 'off'. Perhaps it was the chill which made him feel even more glad that he hadn't opted for fancy dress, or the way that the staff kept looking at the windows– Or mayhaps the way that the security guards seemed to look almost... Almost concerned, but it wasn't doing anything to stop Arian's feeling that something was going to happen - because this was Destiny City and things were always happening. The sound of shattering glass was almost anticlimactic and Arian's hand reached out to try and steady his cousin as someone shoved at her before pushing her gently but firmly towards Anxo. "We should try and get out of here" he said as he pointed to the lit exit sign that was unfortunately on the other side of the room to them. Because his proximity to both his cousin and his boyfriend meant that powering up was out of the question - well that and it was hard to tell just how long the lights would be out for– And with powering up not an option Arian really didn't want to be stuck in the darkness of an unlit room with who knew what else in the room. ======================================= Briar Mackenzie - dressed as a vampire hunter Briar had managed to catch up with his brother, albeit briefly, but then Scott had spotted an old classmate and had disappeared again.
He nibbled on some more of the candy as he wondered if he should find somewhere to sit and pull out one of the books from the rucksack by his foot and see if he could somewhere quiet to read–
Although perhaps trying to see if this place had any hot drinks was more in order given that the central heating seemed to be switched off for some reason.
Reaching down to pick up his rucksack, Briar straightened before starting to head towards the table with all the refreshments fully planning to see if this place had any hot chocolate or something.
He was partway over when he thought that he spotted a couple of familiar faces amongst the crowd, his hand reaching out in a small wave because two of the people in conversation with a third looked almost like Peter and Vi and whilst Briar couldn't be sure if either of them had seen him he figured he could always head over in that direction afterwards.
It didn't take long to reach the refreshment table and Briar's reddish eyes scanned it in the hopes that there would be something hot because it was seriously cold when spotted another familiar face.
"Kirra" and there was a small smile on his face as he stepped towards the smaller girl "You're.."
His voice trailed off as the lights chose that moment to flicker for a moment before dying and plunging the room into darkness - a darkness that was punctuated with a screech of metal and the loud sound of something shattering–
Briar made a larger step towards where he had seen Kirra, the darkness making things more difficult as he reached out to try and catch his friend's arm even as people around them started screaming and making a stampede towards the exit sign that was about halfway across the room.
"Kirra we've got to get out" and he had to find Scott - although for now reaching the exit was perhaps the priority given that Briar did not want to find himself stuck in the darkened room.

It was probably a good thing that they were in flats, because as soon as the lights went out Jordan almost bolted; only their mother's hand on their shoulder and her voice kept them from it. (They didn't actually pay much attention to what she was saying. That didn't matter. The intent was clear enough; do not go far from me, stay safe, I love you) - they told her their will was already prewritten (a lie, but an amusing enough one) and brushed her hand away.
They could see - almost see, sort of make out - large figures in the back of the room, around the edges - oddly shaped, the wrong shapes to be completely human, completely anything at all. Now, see, this made an event completely worthwhile for Jordan to attend; this was better than people looking at them with uncurious eyes and seeing someone else, this was better than hairspray and foundation for clear skin and perfectly, pretentiously messy hair.
Making it to the door was easy; if anyone got elbowed it wasn't them and it was completely and entirely on purpose. Jordan was good at seeing in the dark, after all. It meant they did their job better than other people.
Sunny Dyer (in costume as Princess Zelda)
Sunny had, unfortunately enough, been expecting this to happen; all the foresight in the world didn't help her, however, as the moment she turned on her heels to head for the door an ankle hit her directly in the side - she stopped to wheeze, and her heart was racing, even if she'd expected it. None of this could really be planned for. The windows had gone out, the lights had shuddered to nothing, people were screaming - the sound cut through her ears like a knife, even if there wasn't any noises of violence, and it took her a few seconds to collect herself again.
It was slow going, sort of, since every movement she kept her hands to her sides, fingers angled outwards -- Sunny's preference was to not knock anything over or break anything that hadn't already been broken by others in their panic.

The way Basil's face scrunched as he talked, the little expressions, were way too damn cute. Times like this were when he regretted trying to be a better person. "I had a professor like that for a couple basic classes. Some of them just like to hear themselves talk." He rolled his eyes at the memory. "If you can deal with that though it's a really damn fun thing to study. So many different opinions."

Kian Cappello (dressed as this) Katrina had convinced him to come out with her that evening, though it hadn't taken much convincing, and after working as much as he had been lately it was nice to do something not work related. The evening seemed like it would be nice and so far, despite being trapped in an atrium, it was. When he felt Kat shiver he slid an arm around her, knowing his jacket was a bit warm an she had dressed lightly. "It ..." His answer was cut off when the lights flickered and went out. Katrina was shoved into him, eliciting a grunt, and someone yanked hard as his coat as they fell over beside them. Growling he tightened his arm around Katrina to try to keep both of them from tumbling to the floor as well. "And you said tonight would be free of trouble."

Tom and Jason Wolf (dressed up respectively as Sherlock Holmes and Watson respectively.) Tom couldn't help but feel the chill that continued to descend upon the area. He looked to his brother and almost yelled, "I know this is a botanical gardens but shouldn't they have some kind of heater in place?" Jason, who had drawn his coat over himself a bit more, thank goodness that they had warn some warm clothing, sighed. "Maybe it's broken? Though you think they would do something about it since it could kill all of the plants." Before the two could continue to... complain about the conditions of the place, the power went out, and Jason yelled, "Of COURSE something like this would happen again! You owe me!" He said before he and his brother looked around for the exit sign, trying to head out. They were stopped for a bit though as they heard metal against metal, a terrible noise, and breaking glass. Yep, definitely some sort of monster attack. Tom could only console himself that he had some good food before all of this. Suddenly there was panic all around them and they tried to make their ways towards the doors themselves, but it was a bit hard with everyone panicking around them. They both took out their cell phones to have a bit of light and to stay with each other. Jason made it the exit somewhat easily, but Tom seemed to be getting bumped by just about every person there. He was also pretty sure there was a giant spider or something since he felt it brush against one of his hands. He probably would have yelled it if was against his face. He had almost made it when he felt something run into him and caused him to fall over! Jason ran to his brother's side, trying to see what had run into his sibling and making sure they were still close to the exit. Derrick Keenan (dressed as Rick O'Connell from The Mummy) Derrick was still hanging around the food table filling up on what would hopefully be a filling dinner. They actually had some baked chicken and vegetables! Unfortunately it was becoming colder and colder and he wished he had also brought the jacked that went with this outfit as the evening went on. He had just finished with his food before the lights went out and terrible, ear-splitting noises were heard, and then of course people screaming adding to all of it, Derrick wouldn't be surprised if he had lost his hearing for a few days after this. Unfortunately he knew that something was going on, probably another monster attack, nice. He slowly made his way to the door, knowing that panicking and flailing around wasn't going to help anything. He seemed to easily be able to make out the crowd, he supposed that he had just gotten so used to being in the dark walking from work and patrolling, that he could tell where people were. However, he was a bit distracted when he thought he saw some weirdly shaped figures beyond the crowd who didn't seem to be panicking, that he accidentally walked right into someone. "Sorry! Didn't see you there! Well I mean, I know the lights are out, but I'm still sorry for running into you."Sweenys_Revenge Wasn't sure how to do both for you so I double quoted XD (dressed as BotW Link sans pointy ears) Sachio really wished at this point that he had Link's Rito outfit on rather than this one as he felt himself shiver a bit at the decreasing temperature. At least he was pretty sure he would be excused at this point and so had already started to make his way to the exit, when the lights suddenly went out. Oh good, something else. Maybe this will convince my parents not to force me to go to these things. He thought as he then covered his ears at the horrible noises. Yep, definitely going to make sure his parents heard about this! He pretty easily made the rest of the way to the exit, but was pretty sure this wasn't going to be the end of it. Would they really be able to make it out so unharmed? No, something was definitely going on, like something broke in and was going to start eating some of the crowd randomly.

Michiko Wakahisa XMichi did her best to stay with Toby she was afraid and confused what was going on?? This was not what she had expected but it made her think of her dreams about everything dying around her. Michi helpless to save those she cared about helpless to save Toby her new friend who had been doing his best to help her meet new people. Even though Michi was totally shy and not a social butterfly even though she was wearing a butterfly costume. Michiko was able to stay with Toby, she could see very well actually and she saw strange shapes behind the group what the heck?? This couldn't be part of the party, could it?? Michi yelled over the chaos "Toby what are those things!!??" She pointed at the strange shapes as she hurried with Toby to the exit.

Drew and Dria Bones as themselves (open for RP)
Drew and Dria had stepped in at the last minute before the lights went out, Drew wore a royal blue suit and tie, and Dria wore a matching dress. The black straps went around her neck, her arms and shoulders were bare, The dress came to just above her chest lines and down to the middle of her thighs. She wore a tear drop shaped zirconium necklace (it looked like a diamond, they just couldn't afford diamonds) and flat soled black dress shoes (heels would have made her taller than Drew). She carried a small black purse. The royal blue went well with their skin-tone that obviously had Egyptian ancestry in it.
When the lights went they tried to move towards the door.
