“What?” Sitting up and wide eye Sid scooted a little closer. “You not ******** kidding me right? You've really been to Atlantis… by diving.”
For second he forgot about the other half of the conversation and quickly nodded his head. “Yea, I mean not super formally but I know some ballroom dancing but mostly in the club.”

"OH, you have family here?" So much for not discussing family on this thing. "I have a brother too, well, had. He isn't here. I've been awake for... oh. Oh wow. Actually I'm about to reach my second-year mark." She hadn't really thought about it as it felt oftentimes like her wheels were just spinning in mud and she wasn't actually proving herself like she had hoped once upon a time.
At the two-minute warning she picked up her pace a bit.
"I grew up in Louisiana and have never traveled outside of it until I came here. Then Japan and France for all the cute things. I got some decorations for my room and pajamas from Japan and some really nice dresses from France and teas from both. Oh, and if you like tea I can perhaps show you the nice tea set I picked up sometime?... .... Sadly, I still live in the basement, but I'm trying to make the most of it."

Fredrick blinked as she laughed, taking a moment to consider how genuine it was. When he smiled in return it was almost hesitant, but without a doubt pleased. Somehow the not-answer had worked out for him, apparently. The realization seemed to make his entire demeanor warmer. "Oh no, of course. You're doing very well at this." He left the 'better than me' out, because that seemed for the best, and scrambled for a question to ask her that wasn't just the same thing parroted back.
"So...stars." When all else failed, go for the obvious interest, before they ran out of time. There was a clear theme to her appearance. "Do you have a specific interest? Astronomy or astrology or...?" He paused, gave a little laugh. "I guess it could just be aesthetic. It does look nice."

Why not? Henry blinked, realizing that that was actually a realistic option. Before he'd have had to get the color himself, and then get Olivia to do the actual coloring for him, but here? He and the twins could easily go and get the different colors once they were cleared for leave, and between both girls it would have been easy to try out as many colors as he wanted.
"Pastels look nice, though. And you can mix some color with conditioner and use it to keep it up between maintenance." He grinned, pleased he had something useful to contribute. "That's what I used to do before I got here, but I, uh. I forgot my conditioner when I was packing, so," he gestured at his hair with a laugh. "Well, you saw. It got pretty bad."

Luka has already been scribbling down a list of things she wanted to pick up as far as supplies went and she had carefully been rallying how much it would cost and what kind of money they’d have left over. Really, the twins needed to figure out an additional way to earn money at some point but so far? It was fine.
They could managed easily enough.
“Yeah! Oh, that’s really smart Henry.” Luka praises clasping her hands together. They didn’t often do one solid color so mixing it with shampoo didn’t really cross her mind. “We should try and see if we can time leave together!” A fun little trip with new friends. That sounded so lovely.
“It wasn’t that bad, I probably made it sound worse than it was.” Luka sounded remorseful. “Sorta needed an excuse to talk to you y’know?”

This was just acutely painful. Kade couldn't help but think of all the delicious, wonderful, wicked things you could do in a pile of pillows like that. Sweet boys were as much of an addiction to him as surly boys were. It made him want to muss them up, to drag them down towards his level, to show them the dark side. He had an impressive lightsaber technique he wanted to share.
So on, so forth, etcetera.
Sliding down into the pillows on his side Kade lounged like he was a Roman princeling, casual, cocky, confident. His three favorite words to describe himself. "Yeah, Nash set everything up. Dunno how he did it but I'll find out later." Because a stolen bed needed a lot more stolen pillows.
But Nash was for later, Oliver was for now. "So, Ollie, what is your favorite thing to do on leave?"

Without the relevant context, Oliver was perfectly comfortable to sit down across from where Kade sprawled out. In his mind the pillows were merely comforting softness, making it easier to relax in what could have been a stressful social situation.
"Ah, I... don't do much on leave, usually just pick up snacks," he admitted sheepishly, now showing a hint of a blush. If it wasn't for his sweet tooth he might not have taken leave at all, not knowing what to do with himself in the world beyond the island.
"You?" He asked, trying to steer the conversation away from himself until the heat in his cheeks faded. "That's also a pretty cool tattoo, is that, uh, from before the island?"

“Don’t make the rules babe,” Zane replied as coolly as he could. The s**t eating grin on his face implied that he enjoyed her reaction and the bite she seemed to have. In fact he leaned forward when she touched him, comment on the tip of his tongue when a beanbag flew at them.
Well, at her.
“Depends on the rule and what awaits me when I break it.”
Seren smiled at the compliment, and shifted a little on her pillows, as she listened to him. She was generally comfortable, but she would honestly have preferred a chair.
Or a couch. A couch would have been nice. But it was what it was.
His question caused a flicker of something sad to cross her face for a half second, then it was gone. "Oh ah... Yeah. I was hoping to go into Astrophysics when I got to college. Unfortunately, getting to college ended up being out of the question." She gave a half shrug, looking down at the skirt of her dress, not wanting to think about the dreams she had to give up. "Um... So what goals did you have for your life, before?"

Gabby/Dean (Round 1 Log)
Dean
He couldn't believe he was actually doing this. First off, Nash was hosting it. Second, everyone knew it was just going to be a cheese fest. But that was the duty of being friends with an ignoramus: you supported them in their idiocy and hoped to reap the benefits.
Dean's neutral face still appeared cross as he stole some beanbags and took a seat, running a hand through his hair in preparation. Well, at least he had been paired with a chick. Was she at least hot? He gave the hunter a dubious once over. "You bored too?"
Gabby
The idea of speed dating had been exciting back when she saw he sign-ups. It seemed like a good way to at least meet people on the island being that she seemed to be the newbiest of the newbs, so she showed up with pretty decent expectations. This first guy, though, didn't seem like he even wanted to be there.
"Kinda am?" she said, wriggling around a bit on her own beanbag chair--it had lumps. "Gabby, by the way. Just 'cause telling you my name feels more official than you reading it off a piece of paper." The girl wore a friendly enough smile as she extended her hand.
Dean
"Dean." He shook hands since it seemed proper to, and his dour expression seemed to lighten up some. Her coat said Sun, and he felt a pang of envy, however. All of his friends were there except him. But the "rules" said he couldn't talk about divisions, the s**t head...
"Uh, so. Why'd you decide to come here?"
Gabby
She smiled just a tiny bit wider when he shook her hand--it was nice to see that guys could be polite. A lot of the ones she knew had been asses, so. She just shrugged, still trying to get comfy. It wasn't really working but that didn't stop her from trying, and she realized that maybe it was kinda dumb if they were gonna get up and shuffle in a few minutes.
"Boredom?" she said, and then giggled. "Also had my hopes up to maybe find some dudebros here but it's kinda awkward meeting people like this. With the whole 'dating' setting." She air-quoted the word "dating."
"You?"
Dean
"Eh, like. Skating." Dean half shrugged. "I couldn't bring my gear in, though, my old stuff was near broken. Plus I have to save money n' s**t, so..." Sure, he had gotten his first paycheck—but most of his money had gone elsewhere, to someone else.
"Video games, but," he made a face, "that's costly too. Like rebuying the damn thing to get it converted. And I'm stuck in the dungeons, so there's no connection anyway. Whoever' in charge of housing has a sick sense of humor."
Gabby
"I could definitely get behind the skating," she commented before waving a hand to dismiss the idea of video games. "Not video games. Rot your eyes, the dang things. Young guys like you should be out and about, anyway."
She leaned back into her beanbag chair, fighting the urge to frown since that stupid lump was still bugging her. "Now me?" she started, not at all noticing that he didn't ask. "I'm more into housework. Boring stuff, but it's what I know. That or softball, but I didn't see a field here so I think that one's out."

Seren looked up, after asking her question, startled, when Nash yelled, and then sighed. They hadn't gotten very far, and already it was over. Well it WAS speed dating, but still. "All right, See you later, Freddie!" She said to him, and then, carefully, she stood up, relinquishing her comfortable pillows to go hunting for Oliver. She realized she'd forgotten a name tag, so she snagged one, slid her name onto it, and then went back to the hunt.
She finally gave up on hunting, and called out "Oliver...? Oliver Keeley?" She hoped she would be heard over the various voices, but she had no idea who she was looking for. She just turned her head side to side as she looked, waiting to see if some one responded.
"Hobbies.......I like spars, sleeping, doing make-up, shopping, adventures and doing inappropriate things." Ace grinned mischievously. "Work isn't bad, I got to see many things I could see normally -"
The host's yell cut his words short, "Second round?" He repeated in a tad confusion. "Does it mean -" The host came and wanted to usher them somewhere. "Now I know what they meant by speed, see you around Ever. We can talk about inappropriate things next time." He hinted with a naughty wink before he was forced to move on.
For the second round, his partner was - were two men. The tall hunter caught a grasp of how speed dating worked for a bit, he believed he could make use of the limited time in a more efficient way. "Anything you wanna talk about?" Ace initated the conversation.

Ace didn't dress up uniquely for this event, just his usual shredded tank with a pair of matching black skinny jeans. He was a bit interested to find out what his partner would think if they saw his make-up.

"Um." Gretel paused to think. "I don't see many situations we'd required formal wear. Don't worry, you still have time to save enough for a nice set." It was very obvious she wasn't good at saying comforting words, they sounded rigid and plain. "Our uniform is the hunter coat."
The huntress nodded at the bracelets showed, and flipped her head up to stare at Land with surprise in her eyes. "Me?" She was adapted to many things, but kindness was not one of those. "Mint, lavender, and pastel colors and .......thank you." Her thought was drilled around the word 'friendship' and contemplated if they could be said friends. Her concept of friends was a sublime idea, Gretel easily understood their definition of friends might be different but the goodwill stayed.
She was aware how awkward she acted when someone tried to be nice, the yelling from someone rescued her from the embarrassement. "......Thank you for your time, see you later." The temperature difference between Land and her was clear, but she had made effort to return his kindness.

So cute a Hufflepuff Land! It would be fun to imagine what if they were friends in HP AU ;D
=================================================
She was very confused when Nash came and informed them their new partners were waiting. Despite of how few orientations she experienced, Gretel found it abnormal. It baffled her thinking how many more people she needed to meet before it ended. Unluckily, there was one genre of game she seldom touch, dating games. It meant she had neither immunity towards this matter nor basic concepts.
The mist trainee wasn't the type to start, so she quietly looked at her new partner, who looked much younger than her.
