Well s**t.

Mercy scrambled to get up, coughing before offering Sid her hand. "Yeah.....Sorry." She really didn't know why she had the strange knack to act anything BUT cool whenever Sid and Mathilda were concerned. It was annoying as hell. "Came to see if you needed help, not to fall on you..." She glared at the birds coming towards them, readying her hammer.

Hopefully, she could do some damage this time.

Small, strong arms grabbed at Beth from behind and she was given a fierce hug. Misha kept her arms around the other woman's waist for long moments as she pressed her cheek into her shoulder. "Ssshhh, ssshh," she murmured. "It's okay. It's okay."

Once Beth's breathing calmed slightly, Misha released her and stepped to the side. She squeezed the other woman's hand and then crouched to better wedge the pot against the hole. "Bring me another cushion or something, hon?"

She knew the feeling. She really did. But it was just like stage fright... They still had to work through it!

Whilst in search of anything else to use, Marisol stumbled upon a door busted off it's hinges. It wouldn't be easy to maneuver the object into place but if the birds somehow managed to knock a hole into the closet--well then things would already be really dire. The door wouldn't help much in that respect. But maybe if it was another layer.

Lifting the door up, she made a beeline for the lobby. Using it as a shield to cover her head, she made it to a window where the objects placed in it were starting to be pecked apart. Shoving the door into place she began stacking whatever she could behind it in the hopes of keeping it in place.

Now that the settee was in place blocking the window, Rob took a moment to give Sid and Misha a sheepish grin. He was about to make a wisecrack about his ability with his sword when from out of nowhere Mercy appeared to rocket into the room and crash into Sid's back, knocking her over. He blinked, then burst out laughing. One had to find humor where one could in such situations.

Once more he went to make a wisecrack, then Beth screamed at the other end of the room. Whipping his head around, he saw her shove a large vase into a hole forming in the wall, then Misha dove for her and asked for a cushion to plug the growing hole. "s**t-sucking birds," he swore, rushing to Beth's side with a cushion from the settee. "I don't know if that will hold 'em." Standing, he drew his sword. "We should get ready to fight."

At seeing Sylvia Beaulah grinned. She was about to try to do it herself, which she was sure wouldn't end all that well, but with Sylvia's help she was able to move the coach up to where the window was.

"I was thinking of standing it on it's side?" She said in a questioning tone. She was open to any other ideas. She hadn't worked with a couch before and if this woman had done it before and knew a good way then she was willing to do that. But they had to do it fast, who knew how long it would be until a stray bird made their way into the hotel thru that window.

Tara was deeply.... deeply considering just switching over to fortifying the hotel instead of trying to shoot down the birds. She just... was not hitting. Anything. Tara stared downed at her weapon, feeling an immense headache coming on. Ugh.

Brian heard shouting. The voice, though, sounded rather familiar. He turned to see two familiar women crouched by a hole in the wall. Beth had just screamed. He was sure of it. Now he wasn't sure what was going on. Was she wounded? Misha seemed to be assisting, and others had seen and heard as well, but he unflinchingly ran for the pair.

When he arrived, he didn't see the feared bird-attack, but something was definitely trying to get in. He fired at a bird over the women's heads and sent it reeling. That being done, he stood back and watched the sky, keeping half an eye on the wall they were trying to blockade.

Briiva gritted her teeth as she notched back another arrow; this time taking more care in aiming the hulking bow. This time she aimed past where Beth's group had gathered, taking extra care lest the not so friendly end of the arrow end up in one of her fellow chosen. She loosed the arrow and was rewarded with a distressed squawk as her arrow managed to miss the wall for once.

Sidney James - Bow: base damage 6

Despite the scowl and the harshness of her voice, there was a hint of amusement in her eyes as Sid rolled over and took the offered hand.

“No harm, no foul.” She said as she brushed herself off and straightened her coat. A hint of a smile tugged her lips and she gave the other woman a punch in the shoulder, looking around for where her bow had gotten to in the tumble. ”Long as you’re ready to fight, its not biggie.”

Ah, there it was… and there was Rob, trying not to laugh. She stuck her tongue out at him before she went for her bow, scooping it up out of the debri and gathering what arrows had fallen from her quiver. Part of her wondered at how few they were. She’d already spent so many on this ********, how much longer before they get those damn speakers going…” She grumbled. The birds seemed endless, and tensions seemed to be rising. At least no one was hurt yet… just a lot of property damage, but she could deal with that.

Drawing an arrow, she let fly through one of the wholes, grinning when a bird got a beakful.

It took Beth a moment to realize that the feeling of being restrained was from someone hugging her. Her breath caught again and she swallowed against the lump in her throat, unaware how close she had been to bursting into tears. She took in a couple of shaky breaths and sank back against Misha. Usually she was the one offering succor and sweetness, but here, where every moment was fraught with life or death decisions, she found herself overwhelmed.

Her lips trembled, but she did not give into the urge to weep. She gave Misha a small smile to show her that she was, indeed, okay, at least for the moment. But when Rob grimly estimated that it was time to fight, she couldn't help but reevaluate her position. She gaped up at him for a second, before setting her jaw. She repositioned his offering to the fortifications--a cushion--while wedging in a couple a broken piece of window slats between it and the walled. She scuttled back, close to the exit, but pulled her whip from her pocket, intent on standing for as long as she could.

It didn't seem like it mattered much, as at least two arrows found marks, birds to murder.

Spotting a crack spiderwebbing across the lower part of a nearby wall, Zebulon decided to hang on to the last knife for now and instead find something to at least block the crack. There was nothing to really seal it with in the vicinity, unfortunately, and he wasn't entirely convinced that there were the right kinds of chemicals here to make anything remotely like a plaster--

Spotting one of the remaining smaller tables sitting in the wide hallway for people to sit and observe the outdoors (and people, probably), he decided that would do. He picked it up because it was relatively light, and then flipped it on its side and set it down to block the crack.

It wasn't the most effective barrier considering there was nothing keeping the table where it was, but it would do for now.

Sylvia heard a scream from where she'd come, but she had to trust that the group she'd left would have things covered. Surely they would be okay. If she heard another scream, she would run, but for now they needed to cover this window before it, too, gave into an attack.

She returned the girl's smile and was pleased to find that they were able to move the sofa without too much trouble. Once it was lined up with the window, Sylvia sized it up a moment. She gave a nod and a hum to the brunette, "That could work. We set a settee on its end just a moment ago, but that was much shorter, and this window isn't quite as high. If needed, we could prop something on top too, probably." It would be nice if they could have it at a diagonal, but there wasn't much other furniture to use in such an endeavor.

"Let's give it a shot!" She gave another smile and lifted again, shifting it into a sturdy position.

The birds seemed never ending and it was beginning to wear on her. The attacks were still sharp and she returned them with as much vigor as she'd begun with. And yet the more she attacked, the more birds came.

There seemed to be no difference with fortifying the hotel. Still the birds infiltrated what had once been a safe haven. Wings and screeches, screams--attacks and calls for help, frustration and anger--filled the room. She bashed one bird with a strike from her whip but was it really doing any good?

Marisol shook her head. Now wasn't the time to think like that. It was time to do all they could and she was going to break down now. Or ever.

Just as Rob finished drawing his greatsword, a guy swooped past him toward Misha and Beth, taking out a bird that was trying to push its way in. That meant their defenses were breaking down. He could hear the monster birds clattering against the outside and see holes forming in the walls. At this rate the hotel might not be standing by the time the speakers were set off. As he thought it, Sid groused about the speakers at the same time, and he smiled. They still seemed to be on the same wavelength after all these years.

A hole opened up just then and Rob shoved his sword blade into it as hard as he could. He felt it hit something solid and heavy, and as he drew the greatsword back in he could see it was covered with ichor. "Yes!" he crowed. "Got one! ******** finally!"
