Marq was focused on the fresh lashes against her back, healing them as his face showed his deep concentration but there was a certain sorrow in his eyes, as it had slowly uncovered how much he felt sympathy for her. He hadn't even noticed Ree had moved until he felt feathers glide across his back and he shot a glare to Ree that was immediately replaced with a flicker of confusion and furrowed brows with a melancholy frown. It took a moment before he realized he was displaying emotions he had no intention of showing Ree as he shook his head, narrowing his eyes in anger again as he focused on the wounds again. He was glancing up every so often at their interactions, the touch of hands and her own tensed nature. Marq stared down at her with pained eyes before shoving back down the emotion and finishing her back before moving to her side and kneeling down, gently placing a hand under her chin to move her face to look at him. He gave pause to stare into her eyes a moment with analyzing eyes before moving his free hand up to heal the bruise on her face.
Ashral tensed as Marq moved a hand under her chin, almost hesitant as she looked at him, her eyes intense as her breathing quickened and she balled both hands into fists in her lap. He was uncomfortably close and it made her anxious as she gritted her teeth, holding back from pushing him away in fear and just trying to get away. Once he began to heal her face, she exhaled slowly, trying to calm down but it wasn't working as she just forced herself to stay as still as possible until he was done.
Now much closer to her, he began to notice the other wounds over her body, the nicks and shallow stab wounds that had begun to bleed lightly. A flicker of panic in his eyes and his wings bristled slightly as he didn't understand how she acquired the injuries, there was an anger that was starting in when he began to assume Marion had something to do with it. He steadied his shaking hand and ran it over parts of her body without much thought, not touching her, but healing what he could see.
Ashral watched him move his hands as she became increasingly nervous as she shook her head but he didn't notice. He was still healing her when his hand moved over her heart and she panicked, shoving his hand away and stood up, taking a few steps away from Marq and looking away, gripping the tattered cloth in her hands. She was obviously distressed by him since she didn't know him and her memories of the last white-haired person who got too close to her was causing her to become increasingly uneasy.
Marq stared at her as she moved away, confused and concerned but made no advancement to her physically. He smoothed his wings, drawing them back to make him slightly smaller. "I'm sorry. You have a lot of injuries, please, let me heal you. I won't get as close if it's making you uncomfortable. Or I could talk to you if the silence is too much. Maybe your friend can talk a bit to help you feel more at ease." he spoke softly, his voice was inviting and warm unlike any of the times that he had spoken to Ree. Genuine and trying his best to seem calm for her so she might relax a little.

Marq reaction has not been one he expected, at least not at first. Eyes narrowed faintly as the glare Marq shot him in return had turned into a look of confusion and sadness that still held anger. Odd since that threw him off for a moment, pointing out again that it was not a good idea to be around him at all. Taking a step to the side he continued to watch and only narrowed his eyes when Marq lifted her head, it was even making him uncomfortable. Couldn't he see? As Ashral got up he surged forward moving by her, his wings lifted and flared only slightly but enough to warn the other to back off. What did he think he was doing? Meeting the confused gaze with his angry one he blinked //.....idiot// //like al-....// //....//. Did he truely not notice at all? The was the guy who was giving him crap for before couldn't see what was in front of him. There was a flicker of pain and sadness as one or the other tried to take control again. Finally there seemed to be a hint of relaxation and the coldness was back. " She is currently in her under garments in the middle of the dinning room while a stranger touches her on the reasons of healing her. " he said softly but never lowered his wings. " Can't you heal from one contact point or must it always be above the general area of the wound?" A question, cold but not icy.

Ashral reflexively stepped closer to Ree without even realizing, keeping a distressed gaze on the archangel. She was honestly trying to calm down but the atmosphere was tense.
Marq paused, like he was in thought, slowly coming to the realization of the point Ree was trying to make and honestly didn't know whether to be defensive or ashamed. He came to a stand, his own wings bristled and flared slightly in contest. "I don't mean her any harm, but I understand what you're trying to say. It seems I've gotten used to Katarina and Giselle hardly batting an eye at such things, I had forgotten she doesn't know me. Especially when I focus, I tend to lose sight of my surrounding." he sighed, trying to stay calm about it, his wings smoothing down once more and lowering. "I can heal her from one contact point, it just takes longer. It's more effective if I'm closer to the affected area. I apologize." he answered, his gaze hardening as he kept eyes locked with Ree. "If you both would like me to continue healing her, I can do just that." he offered.
Ashral hesitated then shook her head, not wanting to go back towards Marq. The wounds that remained were minor and, although hurt, would heal with time. She looked to Ree with a frown, it was very clear she was not fond of the situation, standing there in silence, waiting.

Ree listened blankly, focusing on his face and body language from what. He could see as they talked. As Marq smoothed his wings he did the same and brought them in as well yet always locked on eye to eye. In a way a channel be in it's own right, at he moved on to ask if Ashral wanted continued healing he glanced away to look at her then back. This time his gaze was sharp are he locked stares. " No, she will be fine with what you did " there was a pause then a flicker of a frown. " Thank you" he moved to help lead Ashfsl up the stairs if she needed but paused. " You said the other two are almost used to you seeing them make and don't care. Is there a reason they are so desensitized?" The question was sharp with it's own kind of anger, but he had to know for Ashral's sake.

Marq gave a nod as Ree spoke for her, declining his offer to continue healing. A nonverbal you're welcome.
Ashral stayed close to Ree as he helped her to the stairs, she was slow getting up the stairs, the pain of her soul and now the pain of her body were working against her as she took it cautiously. When Ree paused to ask Marq a question, she stopped as well, interested in the answer as well.
Marq kept locked gazes with Ree until he asked about the children's desensitization to no caring how they are dressed or healed. He shifted his eyes away for once, a frown forming on his lips. "It's because they were both born here and I've been here longer than that. In their years, they've made many mistakes that warranted punishment. Her case is not the first. I've had to heal them in less but I would never have ill intent about healing those in need." there was a flicker of anger at the insinuation that died back down to his frown. "When you've been regarded as an object for someone else's use for so long, you tend to forget that you were ever a person to begin with. They are the same way." he sighed a bit, picking up the other chair to set it correctly then moved back to the door as if to go back into the mansion once Ree and Ashral had left. "I hope that answers your question." he commented softly with a hint of sadness but then turned and left through the door.
Ashral looked to Ree and frowned, mouthing a thank you to him as they moved up the stairs and back to their room. It looked normal, although there was blank plate where the outlet was now and there were still a few scorch marks up the wall from where he had started the fire. She had reflexively moved a hand to grip her arm as she entered the room the stood there for a moment, staring at the floor with a sad defeated look.

Ree stared silently after him as the coldness broke into a real frown. //So they were both born here // there was a flicker of pity for them and for the healer that disturbed him so much. Turning away he stayed by Ashral quietly, helping where he could until they reached their room. After locking the door behind him he turned to stared at the burn marks in the wood and the changed outlet with a flicker of irritation. Katarina has been in the room with him, had she also been the one to stop the fire or had it been something else? She had all the equipment to escape this island from what he could see and to let this place burn he just didn't understand why she hadn't taken it before now. The other realization that he would have been dead had she not been there only brought up a feeling of restlessness. Turning toward Ashral now frowned in worry as he moved up by her, this time hugging her tightly and letting go a few seconds later. Keeping the anger for her wounds down for now... Casting a eye around the room he headed toward the second set of night stands and dug out the second pair of paper and pencil before turning back to her and placing it on the table, but instead of talking he wrote out his words and held it out to her, his gaze still a little cold, but now there was a hint of anxiety and anger. - What were you able to find out about yourself from the still life? Have you been able to target anyone you think might help or be sympathetic? Or any information in general.
I can take off my collar which brings me to a choice. I can take off your collar and see if the pain grows, stays the same or gets better. If it is manageable do we A:wait for the opening in the sky. B: attempt a bloody take over of the mansion
Not tonight but in the next few days -He returned the paper to her, his eyes focused for her reaction as he placed the pencil in easy reach.

Ashral kept her head down, her body tense, her hands made into fists as she was trying so hard not to cry. She hated everything about this, the only redeeming factor of anything that was happening was that Ree was still there, which meant she wasn't alone. At least she had that reassurance. Making no movement of her own as Ree approached, she felt his arms wrap around her into a tight hug causing her body to start shaking within hesitation. It only took a second before she suddenly hugged him back, wrapping her arms around him tightly and burying her face into his chest. Even if only mere seconds, she'd take it all, grasping onto any moment she could to get her through. She took in a shaky breath and held it, reluctant to let him stop, just to beg somehow to continue this however small moment of reprieve.
Letting out the breath she held in a deep but wavering exhale when he let go of her, she slowly looked up to him. Taking a moment to wipe her still damp face with the back of her wrist while Ree moved to get paper, she moved to the table to wait for him to write. When he handed her the paper, she sat down at the table, taking up the pencil before looking down at the strips of cloth in her right hand and dropping that on the floor, focusing now on reading his questions, taking it slowly.
What were you able to find out about yourself from the still life?
"Giselle can see who I really am. Told me that my soul was broken. Cracked. They don't know anything about me. Or this body. Carmella gave me to Vina with little information, only that the collar shouldn't be taken off of me for any reason. Giselle didn't know why either. She was also talking about how my soul came from the infirmary which is likely where the body came from too." she sighed, still not satisfied with how little of information she was able to acquire about herself, but did manage to at least get something.
'Have you been able to target anyone you think might help or be sympathetic? Or any information in general.'
"Giselle was very knowledged on the layout of the mansion. All of it. She talked about the others, they all have strengths that could help if they all worked together. Apparently, they had all tried to escape some time before she was born and many of them had been killed for it, including Marq's brother and both of Katarina's parents. Since then, Vina is the only one that talks of escape plans even if they have never acted on them." she paused, then wrote a small list beside her answer.
"Vina- Human. Strategic. Liaison between nobles and servants. Fire. Marq- Archangel. Second to Vina. Healer and Escort to nobles. Livy- Fallen. Caretaker to children servants. Cook for nobles. Dexterous with knives and knowledged in chemistry. Nero - Feral. Bear. Very Strong. Does all manual labor. Katarina - Pixie. Cook for servants. Gardener. Banned from the mansion. Cynical but helpful. Extremely resourceful. Giselle - Still Life. Noble's maid or plaything. Knows layout of everything. Can see souls."
She looked over what she wrote and gave a single nod, making sure she remembered everything correctly. As her eyes slid over the next couple sentences, she blinked, having to read it again to make sure that's what it really said. Ashral looked up to him in disbelief but hopeful. She opened her mouth to speak, almost completely forgetting she still couldn't talk in heat the moment, then quickly turned to write an answer.
"You can remove your collar?" she hesitated, thinking on the second part. Really thinking about it, biting her lip slightly in worry over the options. "Take it off... I need to know how this collar is affecting me." she wrote with an unsteady hand, unsure if it was the right choice or not, but falling prey to her curiosity anyway.
If it is manageable do we A:wait for the opening in the sky. B: attempt a bloody take over of the mansion
Ashral stared at the second set of options. Wait for the sky. Or take over the mansion. "Take it over. What they are doing is wrong. The townspeople should be led by someone who isn't going to slaughter entire cities to reach their goals."
She hesitated, then looked to Ree with a pained face then down to the paper and wrote one last thing.
"If they were able to take my soul and force me into a body... maybe this isn't the first time. Which means it won't be the last. I don't know what Carmella is doing, but she's.." she took in an unsteady breath getting nervous again. "...she's moving souls.. and placing them in objects... likely dead bodies..." she continued to pause every few words, gripping the pencil tighter to keep control of her emotions. "Like Xinyi."
She swallowed through a forming lump in her throat, just doing her best to keep it together as she turned and handed him the paper back to read what she had written.

Ree watched her silently as she went through each question, only blinking and nodding quietly when she looked up at him hopefully, guessing which question she must have hit to have that look. As she continued he nodded again as he got up and waited, not moving until she finally finished and handed him the paper. Taking it he placed it back on the table and frowned as something clicked in his mind. Pointing to the first question he glanced toward the window then back, he needed to loosen those bolts before he left. "I have an idea where to look for that. I'll go there after we finish talking " he said quietly before moving his finger down to the second question. Reading it his frowned deepened, they had varying skills and Ashral was confirming with more detail what Vina had mentioned on the run. Except who truely wanted to escape and who wanted to escape but not risk dying if it failed? Then it required convincing even if he managed to fighten off one, disgust another then neutral for the other two and Vina....just angered him. Closing his eyes he pushed it down and took a breath looking back at the names. She will have to be the first to be manipulated..shouldn't take much since that is what she wanted or along the lines of it. Other wise he would have to convince them and gain their trust one by one. The healer didn't like him but he might follow Vina, stand on the side lines or even be their betrayer. Nero would follow them or who ever he was afraid of/respected/ had loyalty for if those brief moments at the table where anything to go by but could also be a plant. Katarina ...wild card. Livy ..that one he could not guess at all for. Giselle ... someone to give them the layout of the mansion but ... " Giselle. Did she ever mention her item? She is the only meta here...or even a hint if a mane or malice? It would fit the pattern here " //other than me// he thought quietly to himself as he..they dreaded having to talk to the others. Before this it would have been fun, now he only wanted to trust Ashral. Moving to the next question he nodded and looked toward her collar with faintly narrowed eyes. " I will " he confirmed before looking back. Pausing at the last answer his wings bristled slightly " Not that the town people are much better. You saw how they tried to burn someone on suspicion of being a Magi or where they . They are terrified of magic .....but that is neither here or there. " he moved away from the table and folded that piece of paper and put it in his shoe with the multitool that was rubbing that area raw. Memory of someone else saying he wanting to tear down cities ....Michael. " I was hoping you would pick that because we are in a good position to do it and stop what is happening here. It also means if we mess up ...that is likely the end or we will wish it was" he said solemnly as he reached down and pulled out the multitool, moving behind her he could see the lock, not having actually spent much time investigating as panicking when he knew he couldn't take it off. Picking the right tool he placed it inside and started wiggling it around until the clasped opened. Pulling the tool back he grabbed the collar with his other hand and held it around Ashral's neck for a few more seconds. " Put it back on if you need " he warned apologetically, a combination of himself and spirit as he talked before finally letting go and stepping back to watch.

Ashral watched him carefully, reading what emotions and reactions she could garner. He whispered about where to look and that he'd do just that afterward, as she nodded in response to acknowledge his statement.
She stares at his focused eyes when he looked over the paper carefully then he asked questions. She nodded for now, waiting until he was done with the paper to write her response afterwards.
Ashral frowned as he spoke of the townspeople, remembering that they were more than willing to burn a magi out of fear of magic and whether they were even worth redemption. Sighing, she looked to Ree as he continued.
'If we mess up ...that is likely the end or we will wish it was.'
She frowned and nodded slowly. She was more than aware of the consequences of their actions should they fail, and that was a risk she was willing to take. They had to get out. Ree had to get out.
Ashral took up the paper and began to write as Ree worked on the collar, making sure she included everything.
"Giselle told me her item was a Seeing Stone and her powers dealt with spirits and souls. She didn't mention Manes or Malices and I don't think she even knows what they are."
"She also mentioned that Vina said the townspeople weren't always that way. Carmella made them scared of magic and that's why they act that way."
"I understand that if we mess up, that will probably be the end. I'm willing to fight. I won't leave your side, even if it comes to that. I've already died twice and I would choose to die a thousand more times if it meant you could get out of this place." she wrote, her expression shifting into one of furious determination, not the slightest bit of nervousness or embarrassment. Her statements for being with Ree becoming less romantic and just showing her strong desire to protect him at all costs. She narrowed her eyes a bit, a hint of pain, "...if we run out of options, we know what to do."
Taking a deep breath, she set the pencil down as she felt the collar unclasp, bring up her hand to the collar along with his. She gave a single nod as he let go and she grasped the collar with both hands, nervous but curious as she pulled the metal device away from her throat.
The pain she felt increased slightly but it wasn't as painful as before, wincing only a little but pushed through the pain. It felt so weird like what her soul wanted and what her body wanted were so different it was causing strain. Could she even use her powers? Did she even have powers? She tried one of her own, attempting to grab at the shadows in the room, move them at all. They flickered slightly but only for a second before a surge of pain rushed through her body, her mouth moving like she'd screamed out but again, only silence. She was trying to push past it, coming to a stand with both hands still on the collar before she fell to her knees beside the table and fell forward onto one hand, the other still on the collar. Things were starting to move in the room, the chair slid away from her and the blankets lifted from the beds, the night stands slid together and began to shake. Even Ree could feel a noticeable push against him away from Ashral, not enough to outright move him, but definitely enough to throw him off balance if he wasn't expecting it.
She had to put the collar back on, something was happening and she didn't know what so she shoved the collar back towards her throat, the movement dying down as it sat against her neck. She was talking, but her mute words couldn't reach his ears, trying to say something to Ree in her panic.

Ree watched her with intrest as she pulled it off and didn't look any worse for it. Looking relieved he opened his mouth to suggest she test a power when she silently started screaming, pain suddenly cross her features as his own eyes widen. As he moved toward the collar he stopped, mainly from seeing the determination in her face, falling back on his heels he stared in concern. He wasn't sure what to do as one part on himself wanted to tell her to stop while another wanted to keep watching what happened. The moment she fell though he reacted anyways, trying to move in front of her to put the collar back on. He didn't even make it a step when he felt a soft by insistent push that made him stumble off to the side and affect everything else in the room. " .....Ashral put it on!" his whispered loudly, hoping that what ever was happening wasn't moving out of this room. Regaining his balance he turned to her, noting she had already placed it back on and was trying to speak, not that anything was coming out. With urgency he looked around and grabbed the paper and pen from where they flew of in the mess, all the while listening for footsteps or voices outside. His heart was pounding as he returned to her, glancing quickly at the sheet remembering that she had written something out while he had been taking off her collar. His gaze soften as he read it, looking forlorn as he nodded to her words as he turned the paper over to her. There was a reason he wasn't talking about Xinyi, it was as simply as neither of them being ready to talk about it without bringing up the pain, betrayel, and loss from that meeting. The fact that she was dead.. again due to both of those people and Hexxis's merc was something he didn't want to contemplate feeling he was already to close to an edge. So even now that she was "alive", alive being a very fragile word, with what he was seeing, it likely was nothing permanent unless she was manipulated on by that b***h .....the same way that basterd put her soul in a ring and the same way the other one wanted to put her soul in a sword...even in a way how she was stuck within Hexxis. It was as if everything kept wanting to trap her in other things and he kept trying to free her. So when he read her words about protecting him ...including dying over and over it made him feel a combination of sadness and unworthiness. He couldn't even be what she wanted him to be and now he only dragged her into more trouble after death....also a sick feeling he wasn't focusing on ..was that he might be the reason she continued to stay. " No more options" he agreed quietly, painfullyas he handed her the paper and pen. " What happened " he said still listening intently outside.

She was still on her hand and knees as the paper was given to her. Grabbing it, she set it on the floor and began to write shakily.
"Different. Not a meta. Not a shadow. Tried using powers. Have powers. Don't know what." she managed to write out as her breathing was heavy, trying to relax from the decrease in pain, although the reminiscence of it lingered. Taking a breath, she looked to the door and pointed to it, before writing. "Close collar. Someone coming." she scribbled quickly, trying to push herself off the floor.
Footsteps were approaching, slow and tired footsteps, heavy and obviously not one of the children. They approached the door and stopped, a pause before a yawn and a light knock on the door but was otherwise quiet. There was another set of footsteps, smaller clumsy ones as they approached fast on whoever was in the hallway. "H-hey... What are you doing up?" Giselle's voice asked nervously.
"...movement... it's late... don't use powers..." a male voice spoke softly through a tired voice and another yawn.
Giselle laughed nervously. "You must have been having a dream... no one's using powers after curfew... it's okay. Go back to sleep." she offered with a smile in her tone.
There was a long pause. "Katarina?" he asked, shifting his weight like he could fall asleep where he stood.
"Uhm.. she'll be back later.. she always does.." she spoke a little more disheartened.
"Okay." the male voice seemed to just accept what she said at face value and turned, walking back to his room and closing the door.
Giselle sighed and waited for a moment. She got closer to the door, "..are you okay in there?..." she whispered through the door, concerned for what was going on.

Ree heard the footsteps as they came, his eyes filling to the dead like look as he started to move toward it. The flicker of paper dragged his attention back to Ashral and he grabbed it and he moved behind her, wings lifting and turning until the top wing bone of his middle wings faced the door. Cat-like eyes narrowed as he waited, hearing the knock then the soft whisper of voices. A mans voice and not that if the other arch...Nero? He wasn't sure but it was alarming he knew where the power had come from, or...was his room right by theirs and what Ashral did affected it?
As the footsteps receded he lowered his wings and narrowed his gaze at the door. Not moving forward he glanced down at what Ashral wrote instead, turning he moved behind her silently and closed the collar for her before sliding the multi tool back in his boot. As for the other thing she wrote...
Saying nothing he folded that sheet of paper and added it to his other shoe before opening the door. Looking down silently at Giselle , a more neutral expression than before, he said nothing and pulled back letting her enter if she wanted.
Turning away he started to adjust everything again as he looked for the other sheets of paper that went flying. "Who was that?" He said quietly as he brought them all back to the table and crossed his arms with only a flicker of a glance at Ashral, mainly to make sure she was okay.//.... Bad idea ..leave we should leave when the sky clears//the other voice was soft worried.//.....She chose it/ he thought to himself before focusing on the others.

Giselle looked up to Ree as he opened the door, not actually expecting him to answer. She stepped inside and closed the door behind herself quietly then looked to Ashral with worry. "...the crack is getting worse..." she commented softly before realizing that Ree had asked her a question, flustering to bring her attention back to him, but still keeping an eye on Ashral.
Ashral was struggling but had managed to stand up and move to one of the beds to crawl onto it, laying on her side as she kept a hand at her chest, labored breaths as she just watched the two of them. She didn't have the strength to sit up at the moment, pain was still pulsing through her body like a re-strained muscle that hadn't finished healing. She just stayed still for now, listening to them.
"That was Nero. His room is next to yours." she answered, wringing her hands a bit nervously. "He won't tattle or anything... He doesn't talk to anyone but me really. Most the humans just assume he's mute. He's really nice though, so don't let his scary appearance fool you." Giselle took in a breath and exhaled to steady herself. "I heard what was happening and came to make sure she was okay. I didn't expect Nero to have been woken up."
Ashral exhaled and mouthed an apology with a regretful look, worried that she had almost blown their cover out of the curiosity of what would happen without the collar.
Giselle glanced to Ashral. "It's okay... it's not your fault. I guess you aren't the same race as what the body is..." she responded to Ashral's silent words and gave a reassuring smile.

Ree listened quietly to Gisella and looked to Ashral with only a faint flicker of worry. " I see. You can see the crack, located where?" He turned to watched Ashral a flicker of concern on his face as he took a step toward her then it faded to blankness again. Looking to the side he made note of the area Nero came from with a very faint relieved look. Looking back at Ashral he shook his head once at her look of apology then looked to Gisella with a calculating look. " Might be human body...magi?" He said throwing the question into the air to watch her reaction.

Giselle looked from Ree to Ashral, then nodded. "Yes, the crack is in her soul. Like a piece of it is missing or broken. I guess when she couldn't control her power, it made the crack a little worse." she answered softly, taking a few steps to Ashral and kneeling down at the bed to look at her. "Besides that, it looks like her soul is merging permanently to the body. So maybe that's a good thing." she spoke, mostly speculating what she was seeing.
Ashral moved her mouth then stopped, looking away with a frown.
"It's hard to say... if you were dead. And now you are alive. You could probably die again. That's if the body finally accepts you. It's odd, like the body is trying to find reasons to merge but there aren't enough things grounding you to it." she was just rambling now, looking off for a moment, glancing back down to Ashral to pause at her expression.
Ashral's eyes had widened slightly, staring at Giselle. She hesitated before speaking again.
Giselle shifted uneasily and glanced back to Ree before looking at Ashral again. "Yes. I can hear you." she answered cautiously, with a frown surfacing on her face. "Though your voice gets harder to hear with each passing day."
She looked to Ree as she heard the other question, "I can't say for certain. Humans don't normally have white hair or red eyes. But if not a magi, then I don't know what." she responded in honesty. She remained where she was, unsure about the situation as it had become clear that they were close after all and that something weird was going on with the girl.
