Eirian pondered a world of her own, humm what would she want in it, what would she want it to look like. Animals so many things to consider, she sat there daydreaming for most of the class before she decided she wanted a planet with a medium climate. Not to hot and not too cold. She wanted small fluffy animals on her planet and not too many people a few for her to talk to when she wanted to, but not so many that she would feel crowded and uncomfortable. Eirian signed if only she could design a world just perfect for her. She waved her tail about writing down all the details of her world. High beautiful mountains to look at, beautiful flowers that smelled sweet like candies. A sky of pink and purple, the light always about the same low, Eirian didn't want it to be too much of anything. Perhaps silly, but that was how she wanted her world and she.. She also wanted a number of lakes, streams, and an ocean. She tapped her figures on her desk trying to figure out what else to write as her mind wandered off on it's own. "White fluffy clouds too, I want a perfect world just of my creations." She said softly as she continued to write about her perfect world. Eirian put down her pencil and bite her lip she still hadn't finished the written requirements darn it all why did there have to be rules she didn't want? That was it in her world the rules would be written by her. She wrote that down handing it in to the teacher.

If anybody knew how to quickly jot down a basic idea it was Marrow. Most of the time he took in information quickly and regurgitated it onto paper for an easy passing grade. He didn't want to stand out. Just get by. Today he picked a well known constellation known as Ursa Major. "Ursa Major is a big constellation in the ..." a momentary hiccup as he desperately searched his brain for the answer he had read online earlier that day. "Northern hemisphere. It's apart of that other constellation called the Big Dipper. If you don't know what that is you should seriously pick up a book or even look up at the sky once in a while. You can't miss it. Ursa Major has a kind of counterpart constellation known as Ursa Minor which is actually also the Little Dipper. Weird right?" Now he was just trying to buy time. God Marrow hated doing assignments like this, or even assignments in general. He thought hard, trying to spit out as much as he could. Any random facts he could recall. "Ursa Major is seen as a bear by more than just one civilization. So I guess the story behind how they became constellation is like- Well, there was this lady, and this guy had a crush on her a guess so somebody turned her into a bear so she wouldn't be appealing... but then she runs into her son and he almost shoots her, but then somehow he gets turned into a bear too and they got put up in the sky?" Okay, the mythology behind it was a lot more in depth than that but Marrow was struggling with recalling the facts.

Marco wasn't sure he wanted to go out into the dark by himself, he wondered if his mommy or daddy would go with him, he was a little bit afraid of the dark. He managed to do what he needed to do, even though he was nervous. He looked up at the sky and stars looking for constellations, he spotted what the book called Orion. Then he did some research about it. The constellation looked like a figure to Marco. The book said that Orion was a great hunter, they must have followed Kallistos, after all how could anyone be that skilled hunting without the gods blessing? He read about how an angry god sent a scorpion to attack Orion wow he wondered which of the nine would have been so mad at Orion and why?? Marco wrote his report about Orion and handed it in to the teacher, having enjoyed learning something new.

Tolaram couldn't find a rock constellation, so he looked for something else and found a lynx star pattern, odd it didn't look like a lynx. He wondered who had looked up at the sky and thought that looked like a lynx. Tola didn't spend long looking up at the stars before he went inside to start his research for his paper for school. Oh so that was it, it was a challenge to actually see the Lynx. Tolaram went back outside to look at the stars looking really hard to try to see the big cat in the sky. It was interesting that it wasn't as easy to see as some other star patterns, kinda like a secret. It was said that those who could spot the constellation were lynx-eyed, sharp eyes. Tolaram wrote down what he could find out about the stars not that there was much to find, since it seemed to have been discovered in recent times.

Helios looked at the science project make his own plant sigh he would rather be swimming, well that was certainly what he would want on his planet lots and lots of water. Very little land, but enough so he could relax and rest when he didn't feel like swimming. The water would be fresh water mostly, though he guessed he could allow for some of it to be salt water for others who preferred that. Lots of fish and very few land-based animals. Since Helios didn't want his world to have a lot of land which wouldn't allow for a lot of land animals. He wanted the land to be filled with fruit trees he liked a lot. Calm peaceful world just perfect for him. It was a silly dream but that's what he wrote for the assignment. Helios wanted to do a lot more swimming he hoped to become a professional swimmer when he graduated the academy. So a world that allowed him to practice his swimming all of the time would be great. Though come to think of it if all the other swimmers got the same practice it wouldn't give him a edge over them. Oh well. The climate he wanted was temperate and pretty warm so he didn't get to cold while he was practicing. Yea Helios had a one track mine but oh well the assignment said nothing about him having to be something other that a swimming jock. Which was a big part of who Helios was.

Raven considered the task with a small smirk. Create a planet, huh? Should be easy enough. It would be an ocean planet, with pockets of land here and there where some life could grow. The ocean would be a beautiful cyan that glowed at night, like one giant glowstick. Raven grinned at the thought, deciding that on the small islands all the grass and trees would be black, with bright purple and pink flowers and leaves. The more common animals would, naturally, be water creatures. They'd all be black with glowing bright features like stripes and patterns on scales. Actually, scratch that glowing at night thing; there was only ever night! Not pitch black, but always gloomy like twilight. That means everything would need many eyes; far more than the usual two. Except for the deep sea creatures, of which there were many; they'd have no eyes, and rely on the sensations in the water to figure out where things were. The land mammals would all be large cats with glowing spots and stripes that had evolved to eat fruit rather than flesh. There would be three moons to represent the three main colours of the world; pink, cyan and purple. The only sentient life would be demons, of course. And there’d be no gender restrictions on his planet; everyone could be whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. Everyone was brightly coloured, with glowing eyes and patterns on the skin. His world was like a constant rave party, he realised with a grin.

Teto didn’t consider herself the most imaginative Kumiho around, so she approached the assignment rather hesitantly. Well, if she had to choose any planet to live on, she’d want it to be covered in forests and jungles. Water would only be in the form of rivers, streams and waterfalls; absolutely no large bodies of water. Of course there’d be life, so much of it that you couldn’t walk five steps without seeing a little friend. The insects would always be buzzing, but they’d be much cuter and friendly than the insects Teto had encountered in her life. There’d be plenty of reptiles, especially cutes snakes slithering happily through the trees. Not to mention birds, all with the most beautiful calls and colourful feathers, so the forests would never feel lonely. The trees would be shared by jungle cats and chittering monkeys, swinging from branch to branch care-free. Oh, the trees! They’d be huge, the canopies stretching for miles into the sky. The sentient life – all adapted to be able to climb and traverse trees with ease – would have built beautiful tree houses in the expansive canopies. All the animals would live together peacefully and would eat only the plentiful fruits, vegetables and nuts available in the forests. The moons and the stars were irrelevant – you could never see past the thick canopies of the forests and jungles. But if you did, Teto decided, you’d see one large moon, ten times the size of the real moon. So large, that even at night light would filter through the trees, their leaves always making a gorgeous dappled pattern on the forest floors. Teto was so absorbed in her world she was almost disappointed to realise she didn’t actually live there.

Xero wasn't interested in star-gazing, so instead he chose to write about a constellation he had read about in a previous textbook. He knew enough that he could point it out in the stars if he really had to, but he didn't see a point to such an activity. Xero wrote about Corvus, from the Hercules family. The hybrid didn't consider himself particularly artistic, but he felt the quadrangle of stars looked nothing like the crow it claims to depict. Despite these lies, Xero admired the ageing blue giant that was the focus of the constellation. He wrote specifically of the mathematics involved with the constellation, and made a special note that it was best viewed in May at around nine in the evening. He also noted that two of the stars were known to be orbited by planets which he found more interesting than any mythology or cultural significance of the constellation.

Zeerah had tried to drag his twin outside to look at the stars with him, but Xero had been completely uninterested in the 'useless activity'. Zeerah, however, never passed up an opportunity to do anything that could be even remotely considered useless and had happily looked at the stars. His eyes were drawn to a u-shaped pattern of stars, which after further research proved to be Gemini. Zeerah couldn't help but laugh that he'd been drawn to the constellation associated with twins. He made sure to point this out in his assignment and how he felt it must have been destiny that he was drawn to Gemini. After all, nothing is more important to Zeerah than his twin! Interestingly, the constellation itself consists of the 'twin' stars Castor and Pollux. Zeerah decided that he was Pollux, the brightest of the stars in the constellation and that Xero was Castor. The hybrid enthusiastically included that many papers say Gemini represents the closeness and importance of twinship and that even Xero couldn't deny the magnitude of the stars.

Essurio spent hours looking at the stars because while she was scared of nature, the night sky had a unique appeal. Eventually she noticed some stars that, to her, looked almost like a stick-figure. Quickly making a note of it, she went inside to research. To her surprise, she'd been correct; it had been the constellation Virgo. Essurio blushed as she began to write about it and how it represented the virgin, or the maiden. The brightest star of the constellation, Spica, had been the one to draw her attention. Of course, Virgo had a large amount of stars in the constellation, 9 or 15 depending on which version you studied. A lot of the main stars were very bright, which explained why Essurio's eyes had been drawn to it. Additionally, Virgo was rich in galaxies, meaning that area of the sky was particularly bright. "She... it's beautiful," she mumbled to herself, but chose not to include in her assignment.

Yuta loved stars! He decided that the first constellation he saw would be the one he reported on. With wide eyes, he found it! "The Big Dipper! Also known as the Ursa Major. There is a consolation similar to it called the little dipper! It is made up of seven bright stars that obviously look like a dipper, or ladle, or some spoon like scooping utensil. A lot of people know it cause it's really bright and use it for navigation. The end of the big dipper points to the north star which is a part of the little dipper and that's a major part of using for navigation. Depending on where you are in the world and what season it is, it will be upside down, starting to turn upside down, right side up, or turning right side up. Some say when it is right side up it is collecting water for the rainy season and during the rainy season it pours it down and creates rain."

A planet? His own planet? Adam was thrilled with the concept. Right off the bat he was jotting down notes about it. It would have to have water, maybe 2-3 large continents. It wouldn't have to be teeming with city life, but it would have to have some kind of domesticity, as the idea of no running water horrified him. The kind of planet where you worked for what you had, you weren't given anything just for looking nicer than anyone else or being smarter. And the animal life would have to be cute and furry, whatever it was. Maybe some kind of herbivore with six legs? That could be cute. The light that struck the planet would be, rather than hot or cold, constantly just warm enough, so there was no change for seasons or a need of heavy jackets. The pencil flew across paper as he went into every minute detail, even trying to come up with a few names for species of animals on his planet. Moons? You bet, it had 2. The larger moon was a dull maroon and was only seen in the night sky every OTHER night, and the smaller moon was much brighter, more of a lime green, and you could always count on it to be in the same spot every day, almost like a North Star. As for people themselves, well... maybe he should have just a little more nature. Maybe instead of living ON the land, the people of the planet learned to live around and in it, becoming one with it. After a few more scribbles, Adam was content with his concept and was ready to hand it in.

Anastara had gotten her mother to help her with finding a good constellation. She, Madla, and Thayne all tromped out at night with a bowl of popcorn and some binoculars with Mads pointing out various interesting constellations. Ana settled on Aries, the ram. It wasn't very ram shaped in her opinion, but it stood for the god of war...or rather the god of war's golden fleeced ram that ended up getting sacrificed to the gods. And that's how it became a constellation.

x Eirian, senior 8 labsEirian put on their goggles and looked eagerly at their lab partner. Even though the two didn't talk much outside of class, they both had a certain flair for fun in science. Eirian was particularly interested in this set of labs as they had heard some chemical reactions created colorful puffs. Plus, who wasn't a fan of explosions? Going carefuly, but quickly, Eirian and their partner made fast work of the labs, seeking out the ones with the most amazing reactions. The hybrid actually groaned with disappointment when the bell rang to signafy the end of class. "Only two color puffs out of eight. Oh well..." Eirian and their partner turned in their lab reports before heading out. "See ya, Ms. Flora."

x Roshan, freshling 172 wordsRoshan looked up at the night sky and saw, what they think, was the scorpion one. If they remembered correctly the constellation’s name was Scorpio. Once they got home, they looked up more about the constellation. Roshan wasn't normally one for storytelling, but since it was school work they knew they had to. "The scorpion was sent after the great hunter Orion because he boasted about killing all the wild animals. The Nine did not like the idea of this and wanted to punish the hunter. After the scorpion killed Orion, the creature was given the privilege to be put in the sky as a constellation. It is also a extension of Orion's punishment as it continues to chase the man in the sky."The next day Roshan turned in the paper which included a drawing of the constellation in question. It was done with precision and exactness so it was hard to say if it was art or a chart for learning purposes only. Roshan certainly wouldn’t have called it art.
