Faine and her brother Ryder were awakened and raised in Asphodel, despite both their parents being from Above. Their parents have a typical story (which they love to regale weekly) - both left their homes to find a new life in Below and happened to meet at a farmers' market. They say it was love at first sight - which is always the part where Faine pokes her tongue out in disgust - and they had imbued their first stones within a year. This produced two very different young hybrids; Faine was always assertive and feisty while her brother Ryder was always ready to look after her sister when she got into sticky situations she couldn't bite her way out of. While the siblings were somewhat estranged from the rest of their family seeing as they still lived Above, the four of them were a close, loving family. Their parents often observed how unique it was that the children were so close with little to no real fights beyond bickering. Faine assumed it was normal, but her fey mother assured her that most siblings aren't that close - her own brother had left for Below when she was only a child.
Just like most children in Asphodel, Faine and Ryder attended the Academy. They were both fine in their classes but took very different approaches to their social lives. While Ryder was almost universally loved for his kind and capable personality, Faine found herself getting into fights even as a freshling. She was quick to assert her dominance, and by the time she was a junior she was practically running a gang. Of course, if she ever bit off more than she could chew, she always knew she could turn to Ryder for help. Despite their different personalities, the two siblings stayed close throughout their years at the Academy, and it wasn't until they graduated that they had their first real fight. It was about their future; they both had different directions they wanted to take, but deep down they both deeply desired to stay together. This resulted in a lot of jabs - particularly from Faine - and it seemed their relationship was about to be torn.
At the climax of their argument, a letter was delivered to them from out of the blue. Faine quickly snatched up the paper and read it - their estranged uncle, the fey brother who left when their mother was a child, had bequeathed his farm in Rosebud to them - Moonlight Farm, on the land referred to as Moonlight Falls. He had never had children but wished to keep the property in the family. The sheer shock of the news seemed to bring the argument to a halt as the two of them agreed to at least go see what the farm was like. Silently they both deeply appreciated the turn of events as it would allow them to stay as a team. Upon arrival, they were quick to realise how little they knew outside of city life. They tried to both contribute to the farm equally, but Faine's short temper made her give up any activity in which she wasn't instantly competent. Fortunately, she seemed to have a hidden green thumb and enjoyed the challenge of raising and harvesting crops. This was especially fortunate because her brother seemed to kill any plant he touched, much to his sorrow. The livestock seemed particularly distrustful of Faine and her assertive attitude, so inevitably the tasks divided quite clearly; Faine would handle the crops while Ryder cared for the livestock.
Within a year of owning the farm, it became clear to the siblings that they had no idea how to run a business. They had achieved something of a grasp on the practical aspect, but they had quickly run out of the money loaned to them by their parents and were more of a hindrance on Rosebud than a help. The town manager Belladonna - the hybrid who had greeted them when they first arrived - pointed out this issue to them in no uncertain terms. She couldn't technically take the land from them, but she hinted at the possibility of cutting off resources from the town. Faine was enraged by this threat, immediately wanting to give up on the endeavour and find a more rewarding challenge elsewhere. Fortunately Ryder, always the voice of reason, suggested they could instead simply return to their parents in Asphodel to study business. Belladonna was satisfied with this idea and even offered to sponsor their time in college, assuming they would then return to the farm to make a profit. It was an investment she was happy to make, and after graduating from community college they returned to Rosebud with far more skills under their belts. Now, Moonlight Farm turns a tidy profit and is expected to only do better as both the siblings and the town grows.

dusty.
one of the few animals that doesn't run away at the site of faine, the hybrid has taken a shine to dusty. the old vespercat previously belonged to faine and ryder's uncle, and it seems the familiar comes packaged with the farm. even though dusty has been around the farm for as long as most people can remember, she doesn't show signs of ageing any time soon. to faine's shock and delight, dusty seems to particularly enjoy her company, often curling up at the hybrid's feet when she goes to bed. the charming vespercat even meows along to faine's acoustic guitar when she takes the time to play it.

ryder faine's brother and closest friend in the world, ryder has always been a constant source of support and grounding in faine's life. despite their occasional bickering, it seems like the two siblings almost share the same soul, and faine could genuinely never imagine a life without him. despite her aggression and stubbornness, faine will never allow the two of them to truly drift apart and there is nothing that she wouldn't do for her brother. ryder's patience compliments faine's personality perfectly, and she knows he feels the same way she does when it comes to their future; always a team, through thick and thin.

basic information
name.tsuki nicknames.ginger gender.female race.fey birthday.8th of april 2018 zodiac.staff orientation.bisexual occupation.student // asterion (biology // history) partner.none colour.#de4543 song.teeks - if only
Tsuki was always an intelligent child, but unfortunately her parents were always far too distracted to notice. Her father suffered from an illness caused by prolonged lack of exposure to moonlight during his work in Below, resulting in his flower wilting and producing symptoms of depression. Consequently, Tsuki's mother was always so busy caring for both the mental illnesses and the physical implications involved with her husband, allowing little to no time for her child. This instilled a natural fear of Below in the young Tsuki, and also forced her to become capable and competent within herself. It wasn't that her parents didn't want to spend more time with her, it was just poor timing; she was awakened just before his issues began to surface. Tsuki didn't hold anything against her parents; there was nothing in the world she wanted more than for her father to get better.
Knowing they were far too preoccupied to properly raise her, Tsuki's parents sent the young fey to the Asphodel Academy, knowing they would educate, shelter and care for her. Tsuki fought them every step of the way, terrified of going Below and developing the same illnesses as her father. They tried to explain that the Academy catered for all species and that - with her new generation - there were far less issues with fey flowers. Tsuki had no choice but to listen to them and was sent away to the Academy. She become very isolated in herself, not pushing away people but not being open to friendships either. Instead she focused on her studies and began to excel in her classes. She was particularly interested in biology - especially anything to do with the flora races - and history. There was only one individual who manged to enter her studious bubble; a young hybrid named Havelock. He was drawn to her quiet, intelligent demeanour and his slick tongue and charming smile quickly won Tsuki's heart.
By the time she graduated the Academy, Tsuki was completely infatuated with Havelock. The two of them became near-inseparable, and he was always encouraging of her studies and passions. With his support, Tsuki chose to go to Asterion to study both biology and history. Her studies focused on the history of the fey and how to use that knowledge to help modern fey biology - particularly in minimising the impact that their flowers have on their nervous system. Havelock, meanwhile, went into political studies. His suave and confident demeanour meant he would inevitably excel in the field and, of course, Tsuki continued to be smitten by his personality and ambition. It was during her third year of studies that the modern disaster of Below occurred; the night of the Infected attack. Tsuki was at Asterion at the time and managed to avoid the whole situation, but she knew Havelock had been at the Academy visiting his younger brother, meaning he was in the thick of the chaos. From the safety of her department's bunker, Tsuki clung to her radio to hear any shred of news available, tears streaming down her face as she prayed to the Nine to keep Havelock safe.
It seemed the gods did not answer. The next day, in the chaotic aftermath of the traumatic event, Tsuki found and comforted Havelock's brother. She soothed his fears, trying to not sound terrified as she asked about her love's condition. The freshling burst into tears, but through his sobs she understood; he was gone. Tsuki spiralled into despair, spending weeks isolated in her lab, drinking wine and not responding to anyone. Her fellow scholars became hopeful when she started to produce results once more, but she was still non-responsive to anyone who wasn't a computer. After months of this behaviour, only one shocking event could bring Tsuki out of herself. One night, on her walk home from Asterion to her apartment, a shadowy figure emerged from a sidestreet. She couldn't see who it was, but she would recognise the suave voice that greeted her anywhere; it was Havelock. Her eyes immediately teared up, and she was about to throw himself into his arms when she noticed; his eyes were glowing red, and there was something different about his smile. He pinned her to a wall in the alley, tasting her cheek while whispering she would join him again. In a moment fuelled by adrenaline, Tsuki struck him in the throat, causing him to bend over in agony. She managed to escape, running the last two blocks to her apartment, tears streaming down her face.
After this traumatic encounter, Tsuki's resolve returned to her. She knew what she had to do; develop a cure for the infected and find a way to deliver it to Havelock. She knew there was already a team in her biology department working constantly on a cure, and she insisted she be put on the project. Her grades were historically immaculate, so they hesitantly allowed the undergraduate to join the team. They ended up being grateful that they did; no one worked harder or more efficiently than Tsuki, and within months they had developed a cure. It was distributed to those who had only been partially-cured previously and Tsuki's team were celebrated as heroes. But her work wasn't done; she still had to perfect it for those who were completely turned and, most importantly, she had to cure Havelock. Tsuki continues to study at Asterion, her history classes taking a slightly lower priority to her biology but she still continues to excel.

name.abella nicknames.bella, bell gender.female race.hallowed kumiho // imp // elf birthday.22nd of april 2018 zodiac.staff orientation.asexual occupation.student // eldritch partner.none colour.#cd9674 song.unwoman - the heroine
Abella was the result of a hesitant fling between her fathers, Julian and Papillon. While they were not in a relationship, they were both determined to give her and her sibling Marcellus a good upbringing. Despite being raised in separate households, the siblings often saw each other due to their parents wanting them to have a good relationship. Papillon - while technically a single father - was no stranger to raising children due to running a daycare out of his apartment. He quickly learned that it was different being a full-time father, and his love for children caused him to lavish an abundance of love and praise onto his child. Somewhat inevitably, this resulted in Abella being a spoiled child. Almost as soon as she began to talk she began to read, learning as much as she could to develop a superiority over other children. Her father constantly assured her that she was the most beautiful, most intelligent girl in the whole universe, why would she think differently?
Most of Abella's days were spent surrounded by other children in Papillon's daycare, causing a small resentment to grow inside her. She loathed seeing him treat other children similarly to her and often found ways to make snide remarks to the others to tear them down. Papillon, blinded by love and fatherly pride, never noticed how the other children all seemed to avoid his beloved daughter. Fortunately for everyone, the time came when it was time to send Abella to the Academy. She still lived with her father, but only had to spend a few hours after school watching him treat other children as his own. Constantly wanting to prove herself as a cut above the rest, Abella studied hard at the Academy, determined to be at the top of her classes. It was quickly revealed that she had an analytical mind, and her strengths showed in any literature or text-based classes. Abella also learned from her experience with the daycare children and chose to only use her cutting remarks towards those who already wanted her friendship. Her teacher's have noted that Abella doesn't make friends, she collects followers, all of whom she holds at an emotional distance.
Wanting to find all sorts of fields to excel in, Abella has recently developed a talent for the violin. She appreciates the history and theory behind the instrument and spends at least an hour a day practising. Her future is still uncertain - although Papillon is certain she'll change the world - but currently her interests lead her towards philosophy and behaviour analysis.

papillon the father who raised her, abella feels a fundamental attachment towards the kumiho. while she would love to brag about wanting independence and not relying on any adults, it's clear that abella is constantly trying to prove herself to her father. papillon treats her as the most precious gem in the world, which is a difficult position to live up to. the freshling doesn't realise that no matter what she does papillon will always be proud of her, so instead she hoards skills and knowledge to show off to him. this has resulted in a slight bitterness to any other children her father shows attention to.
julian abella's other father who chose to raise the other stone from the fling. she sees julian fairly often, seeing as he regularly drops off marcellus at papillon's daycare. the two don't have a particularly strong relationship, but abella makes sure she always has some new information or skill to show off to julian when she sees him. perhaps due to his absence, abella is determined to prove her worth to julian, occasionally coming off as too intense or self-interested.
marcellus abella's sibling, the other stone that resulted from her fathers' fling. she and marcellus spent a reasonable amount of time together as infants due to the insistence of papillon. all this caused was a slight rivalry within abella, wanting to prove she is the best of the two of them. she often teases marcellus for being a 'freak' due to being a medium, but truthfully she covets the skill and uniqueness. only time will tell if abella forgoes her pride to develop a positive relationship with her sibling. despite this somewhat cold attitude, abella would defend marcellus from any outsider, believing that while she - of course - is superior of the two of them, beyond that no one could possibly be better than her sibling.

basic information
name.sebastian // ghost nicknames.nocte gender.male race.hallowed shade // litch // kirin // elf // geist birthday.22nd of april 2018 zodiac.chalice orientation.homosexual occupation.student // enoch partner.none colour.#a083a2 song.jukebox the ghost - under my skin
Sebastian was the result of an 'experiment', brought into the world to make his father feel more at-place. The young hybrid has always been acutely aware of this - he wasn't woken to be himself, but to please others. He has never met two of his three biological parents, and instead was raised by his father Chris and his partner Clare. While Sebastian is still too young to delve into how his presence affected their relationship, Clare made it clear that she was his mother and that the three of them were a true family, biologically or not. Sebastian was never convinced of this and has always been somewhat suspicious of Clare - she isn't a mutated freak like him and Chris, how could she possibly consider herself part of their family? Regardless of his personal feelings, he was brought up with love from his parents, both of whom tried to form a friendship with him since he was an infant.
Prioritising friendship over authority resulted in Sebastian having behaviour problems. The young hallowed always pushes boundaries, seeing how much he can rebel before receiving punishment. This frustrates his mother who insists on using a loving parenting style and simply angers his father. With one parent having too short a temper and the other having none at all, Sebastian instead turned inwards for stability. Even as a child, he was isolated and self-involved, spending most of his time alone in his room. Of course, he wasn't truly alone - Ghost, his tail, was the only creature he considered a friend. The two are almost ominously quiet, disturbing his mother who often tried to force him to interact with other children. Despite her insistence and assurance, Sebastian was always aware of the fear induced by his appearance. Besides his siblings and father, there were no documented cases of the skull tail mutation and so he was often met with suspicion and outright terror. He made himself satisfied with his own company, taking on his father's hobby of playing video games.
Wanting him to grow into a well-socialised individual, Clare insisted Sebastian attend the academy rather than have homeschooling like Chris did. Sebastian was angry with this decision, not wanting to spend so many hours of his day with forced socialisation, but had little choice in the matter. As a freshling, he does well enough in his classes, neither excelling nor failing. This upsets his parents as they know he is an intelligent child; Sebastian is simply disinterested in applying himself. Whether this attitude will change as he grows older remains to be seen.

paladin.
clare insisted that sebastian get a familiar to help keep him socialised but, to her annoyance and the freshling's smug delight, he picked out a skyfish. sebastian figured anything with 'fish' in the name would be easy to care for and mostly ignore, but to his shock paladin was incredibly playful and affectionate. for the first few months the hybrid found this incredibly frustrating; the skyfish would occasionally nibble at his hands for treats when he was playing video games, causing him to lose. after a while, however, paladin grew on him and sebastian now even takes time out to sometimes play with his new friend. paladin seems particularly interested in ghost, and he and the tail can poke at each other for hours.
warlock.
always trying to connect with her 'son', clare was delighted to see sebastian grew friendly with the skyfish she had gifted him. she demanded that chris convince his son to adopt a new familiar - this time, it would be sebastian's choice, and hopefully it would be a familiar that would require more responsibility. sebastian was incredibly reluctant to go with his father to the adoption centre, but after their usual shouting at one another, eventually he caved. when they arrived at the centre, sebastian was completely uninterested, turning up his nose at every animal they passed. at some point, however, ghost began to tug at one of the enclosures. curious, sebastian stopped to see what the was tail was interested in, and immediately felt connected the jackalope sitting before him. chris was happy to take it home, however clare was less thrilled when they came home - did he have to pick the creepiest one? warlock is an incredibly isolated jackelope, and will n** at anyone who isn't sebastian. this delights his owner, of course.

family.
chris the only biological parent that sebastian has ever met, chris and his partner raised the young hallowed. while chris spent a lot of time with sebastian when he was an infant, he grew more distant as sebastian developed his own personality. it seems his father is only interested in the 'fun' side of parenting, playing games with him but rarely enforcing any discipline or teaching. sebastian has little respect for his father and simply considers him a big kid - good for a bit of fun, but certainly not in a position of authority.
ophelia sebastian's only mother whom he knows nothing about. chris only kept one photo of the hybrid and knows nothing of her personality. whether the two will ever meet remains uncertain.
tethys sebastian's other father whom he knows nothing about; the freshling has never even seen a photo of the hallowed geist. whether the two will ever meet remains uncertain.
ceara // vitena the other children produced from the triad. sebastian has never met nor heard of his other siblings; only time will tell if he forms a relationship with any of them.
fallow sebastian's frustratingly well-behaved and respectful half-brother, fallow was actually imbued by his parents clare and chris. at first, sebastian was glad that all of the annoying attention that had been shown to him was redirected to someone new, but as they've grown older sebastian has grown bitter and jealous of fallow. from a shallow perspective, it seems as though his parents both prefer his brother - clare has an actual son that she created, and chris has simply used sebastian as a trial-child. sebastian never intends to form a relationship with his half brother; he already has all the love of his parents, what more family could the goody-two-shoes want?
friends.
clare not technically family, clare is sebastian's adopted mother. she and chris where together before sebastian was woken and so she was happy to take on the role of his mother. clare dotes on sebastian, perhaps overcompensating for her lack of actual connection to him. the freshling considers her suffocating in her affection, often avoiding her if he can. this upsets clare greatly, but she'll never stop trying to form a relationship with her son.
