Almost. Not quite. She eyed the venom flask, picking it up and opening it. Ah, the memories. Smiling again, she tipped it and poured the entirety of its contents into the mixture.
Perfect.

"What kind of thing to show me?" It got a hushed whisper, like perhaps Ollie thought it was a secret, or a surprise, or something special. As he spoke, he tipped another little bit of his solution in on his spore.

"Is it what everyone was muttering about, earlier?" His voice was bright, his eyes wide. He wasn't even paying attention to what he was doing -- only to Nergui, even as distracted as she was. "What was it?"

His mixture fizzed as he poured it, but Ollie barely noticed: instead he beamed at Nergui. "Is it a pet?"

"Is it a human?" He whispered it again; some of his mixture missed the spore to splatter on the counter instead as he tipped his head back.

For a moment, he paused in his pouring -- absently imagining a pet human brought back to him as a present, and maybe his mental image was a bit off. He hummed, head cocked to the side. The spore probably needed more of his focus than this.

Her attention was elsewhere so he turned his eyes down, instead, brow furrowed, imagining all kinds of presents. Some of them made sense -- weapons, toys -- and others...less so. Like a puppy. And he didn't fully know what a puppy even was.

This should have been meditative. Instead, he was thinking about critters he'd seen in the human realm, a wandering weeks ago. Nothing was happening.

On top of that, it was starting to stretch the bounds of Ollie's patience -- limited, at best, his mind wandering, he started to lose track of what he was doing, so he stole a look around at everyone else instead. Maybe he could copy, and catch on.

"What am I doing wrong?" He thought he was doing it right. Add the mixture. Awaken the spore. He tipped his head back to pout at Nergui.

...and, of course, it was while he was looking up at her that it happened: the last of his mixture splatting against the spore, and it finally reacted. It pulsed, slowly, while he was looking up at Nergui, still sulky and a bit bored, and he only noticed when he dropped his head again. "Oh!" It was surprised. He put a hand over his mouth and nudged at Nergui's arm, not quite smacking it. "Look!"

Distracted, but for good reason. The priestess had glanced back over her shoulder to the pair of stallions that had barely made it into the room, and she was having great difficulty containing the building bubble of mirth that was threatening to spill past dark lips as she watched them. Had her guardian really just suggested what she thought he had? Or perhaps she had heard wrong. Either way, it took the soft whine of Ollie's voice to draw her attention back down to him, and she answered with a sympathetic smile, her own shoulders lifting in a minute shrug. He was a warrior, not an alchemist. She didn't not think he was doing anything wrong, simply outside where his talents usually lay. And she would has said as much, but in that moment a splash of whatever he'd concocted had fallen directly on the spore he was working with, and the thing pulsed. There was an echoed sound of delighted surprise from the mare, and the reward of a soft peck on the cheek, and the subtle tightening his arms around his shoulders. "Well done, Ollie."
