And he noticed.
"It's just a funny contradiction is all. You live in a trash pile but can make this," Jack poked her nose to signify her face, "look on point if you wanted. You're good at this, Chel, just take the compliment."

"Whatever," would be as close as Chel got to accepting the compliment. "S'cause the canvas is good s'all."
She tilted his chin up, moving his face without much concern to the person under it. "Sides, I don't think monsters gonna bow down to a bunch of blush. S'practically useless."

"I wouldn't say useless." He paused, trying to think of a way to say it that wouldn't immediately warrant a loud GAY. "The first time you put make up on me, when I looked at ********, I dunno. I felt—better isn't the right word, but just more. More intimidating, more powerful." Not to mention more unsure, as Chel had witnessed.

Gay certainly did come to mind, but she stayed the comment for Jack's feelings. Instead she put a hand on the underside of his chin, holding it gently between two figures; the most she could do without messing her art up.
"You ain't never needed make up to be that way," she told him quietly. "People already look at y'like that. I'm just glad I get t'be along for the ride."
Eye makeup was next and she was glad; she didn't want him to look at her right now.

His mouth quirked as he closed his eyes to let her work. "Imagine how it looks on you, then." Not that she had to; Jack had sent all of the photos he'd taken on their date.

She gave him a long suffering sigh. She knew full well how he saw her (very, very literally) and while she wanted nothing more than to bask in that feeling, her own feelings were very different. It made her tired, honestly, to go from adoration to self-loathing in a matter of artifact minutes.
"Yer really askin' for those dicks," was all she told him. She even moved her tiny white detail paint in similar brush strokes, almost like a threat.

"You're a d**k." His mouth pulled to the side, and he stroked near the small of her back. "But it's worth it so long as you know."

"Yer a bigger d**k," she retorted tiredly, leaning over the side of his lap to stretch for a bottle of glitter on the counter. It was farther than she would have stretched normally, but she knew Jack would hold her up. If not, the drop to the ground wasn't that bad.
Either way, she looked between the glitter bottle and him, something very threatening and contemplative on her face, but in the end she only opened it, took a very small brush of it and blew it across Jack's eyes.
Seeing as her job was complete, she shut the bottle, put it on the counter and then got up, leading him behind her and towards the mirror. It was actually similar to what she'd given Abbi for Halloween last year, with minor touches to suit Jack.

He kept his eyes closed until the very end so that it would be dramatic, and if she had asked why he wouldn't have an answer. It simply felt right to, like the final grand reveal to hi new look.
Jack opened one eye, leaned in, and studied her handiwork. "Was the glitter necessary?" he had to complain, even though his expression overwrote what little bite the question had. It was a slow descent, but he was really beginning to get used to the sight of that much make up on himself--at least in private.
Turning to Chel, he said, "Now, do yours. And then," he added more with a more lecherous smile, "I'll do you."

"How do you want it?" she asked him, somewhat tired after hours of hair dye and make up. Yet she was reaching over for the brushes, the powders.
The promise he offered was too great to shirk off for tiredness.

"It's fine," he assured her. No way to take off the glitter without making a mess anyway. But he should have known his (admittedly stupid) joke would have been taken seriously, and he reached out to stop Chel. "Really. We've done enough for today."

And for once- for once- Chel allowed a small selfishness when she leaned into his side and said, "F'yer sure."
She was grateful she hadn't put on clothes, because she could easily go back to bed the way she was. Jack was right, really, it had been a long day. Torturous hours in the student quarantines, a small fight with him, long hair dye wait times, doing an entire face of makeup, even if not on her own face. When stacked up, it was a lot.
"I dunno f'we've done enough though," she told him, sharing his grin and taking a step back towards her bed. The sink counter was still a little bit of a mess, but they could clean it later. AKA Jack could clean it later. "You gonna share some of that glitter?"

He took a step towards her and looked almost predatory with his smirk. "Where do you want it?" Because he had a few ideas beyond her face.

Her legs bumped into the back of the bed and it stalled their shuffle for the moment. Chel was exhausted, but ******** Jack was hardly something she considered work. "Surprise me," she told him, pulling at the bottom of his shirt to get it over his head. Not really neccessary, but she liked his skin.
In truth, Chel really couldn't be happier.
It worried her.
She tapped her fingers against his waist and with eyes on the ground said, "I love you." Jack was getting used to makeup, Chel was getting used to verbalizing affection.

Make it up The wolfish elements of his grin lingered as he put his hand to her chest and tipped her onto the bed in response. Chel had done enough today; he was more than happy to take over and showed it as he crawled over her soon after.
"Didn't quite catch that," Jack murmured as he nudged her chin up, half to see if she'd look now and half so he could start his descent down the length of her body.
