"Oooh. I want to keep that." Maebe whacked the lion one final time with her trident, right over its head, before jumping down (way too far down and wouldn't her ankle feel that in the morning) so she could collect the fang.
"Kill it for me, will you Sir Grace?" She muttered distractedly, as she surveyed her prize.

"Y-Yessum," he panted, rolling his shoulder as he switched his shield over to the other arm.
There was no discernable emotion in the lion's eyes, but that didn't mean Dawson didn't feel guilt p***k him some. The guardian was just doing its job after all. Inwardly whining, he braced himself as the creature tensed and leapt for him, catching it against his shield and tossing it bodily to the side with small cry. He watched it thunk against the overgrown floor and lie still.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he hunched over and caught his breath, glancing at Maebe as she examined her prize. "You really keepin' it?"

"I am." She told him, desummoning her weapon and moving the fang from one hand to another. "It's cool. Unless it turns into like a mini attacking lion, then I'll throw it away. Until then, I guess I wouldn't mind the souvenir." She smiled up at him, sass evident in her expression. "Of such a wonderful vacation." The lake was ahead of them once more, and when she stepped in, the vines had returned to full strength and informed her of such by slapping her back down on the ground. She paused and took a moment, before running full speed into the lake, and using her new fang to slash away the vines when they came for her. She jumped up onto the shore and then hopped up and down victoriously. "I made it! Lucky fang! Lucky fang!" Stamina: 29

Dawson beamed. At least she was taking the sunny side of things.
The vines apparently sensed that he didn't have a lucky fang, though, as the vines were strong and vengeful this time, and the mud seemingly extra thick.

He started to hurt and puff as the mud slowly consumed him. "Mayb, hun, I don't think I can make it this time..."
The vines seemed to agree, this time tossing him well past the temple entrance. He swore one waved goodbye.

Dawson complained about putting his shirt back on already, these vines were painful. But at least no lion or bull was coming out to greet them.

Just as she had before, Maebe lunged in, trident blazing. Unfortunately, a stellar performance such as the one she'd been having so far could only be maintained by someone who actually worked hard for their achievements. As Maebe did not, and relied solely on luck, her trident stabbed thin air, and the lion whacked her clean across the hallway. She fell like a wet rag, but her pride was the most injured - so it was a good thing she had so little of it to hurt.

As thoroughly embarrassing as that was, Maebe did not pause to wait for condolensces. She was up on her feet, brushing her sore a** off as she stomped back down towards the lion. He had his back to her, again. When would it ever learn?
Never, probably. It was a marble lion. Why would it learn?
She sunk the trident deep into the lion's exposed back, and wore a demonic grin as she watched it arch and writhe with pain. She was enjoying this a little too much.

A moment later she pulled the trident out, and sunk it back in. Her efforts were not as effective, since it knew where she was now, and it knew where to defend and strike.

Maebe was being tossed around like a rag doll. Seeing as this was nothing new to her, she simply got back up and struck again. This time, she aimed for leverage - because she really missed standing on the shoulder of a marble lion, and wanted her perch back.
Her attempt failed at getting her up there, but not at injuring the beast.

She aimed to try again, her trident attempting to dig in so she could climb up it, but when she realized that she hadn't actually struck the lion, it was too late. It had her trident in its paw, and it lifted her up into the air, higher than she would have liked.
No matter. When he flung her, and she slammed into the ground, she was no longer worrying about anything anymore.

This was what he got for thinking of putting his shirt back on indeed.
The lion was hellbent on Maebe and her brutal trident wielding, and Dawson grimaced as she hit the floor. Slowly he was becoming used to the idea that such violence wasn't nearly enough to put a hunter down, especially ranked up like she was. It was still distressing to watch, though.
His shield didn't feel like it made so much as a scratch as it bounced off the thing's stoney hide, trying to distracted it away from Maebe.
