Hercules nodded in a sort of playful disappointment as Beth sympathized with him being unable to jump down into the water and play, though when she offered to lead him into some fresh water that was easier to get to, he jumped at the opportunity. ("Oh man! That would be great!") He clapped his fins together in excitement. His skin was feeling rather dry, he could certainly use a nice mud bath right about now. When given permission to touch her bushes, Hercules face planted right into the nearest one, giggling as the leaves tickled his cheeks. ("Hey, it's no pool of water, but I can do this!") He offered, lifting his head up and spitting a soft stream of water up into the air to rain back down over them. It certainly made him feel a bit better.
Darren couldn't help but chuckle as Gavyn and Flynn seemed to get along. As uncomfortable as Gavyn was, he seemed to be genuinely glad he'd earned Flynn's approval. The boy seemed rather glad to meet Darren as well, though he pointed out that it wasn't exactly the most desirable of circumstances to go meeting people. "Y....Yeah..... I suppose I'd have to agree with you there." Darren chuckled sheepishly, scratching his head. Merlin confirmed Darren's suspicions about knowing psychic, commenting that Darren was a sharp young man, which was rather flattering for Darren's modesty, but he accepted the compliment gratefully. "Ah well, thank you but it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. Though in this case a clefairy knowing psychic isn't really all that improbable.... P-point is it's just deductive reasoning..." Darren muttered. That had drawn out far longer than it needed to, and Darren felt embarrassed. He glanced down to his meleeon as he introduced her. As much as he wanted to study her farther, she was warned to be aggressive, and so since Mei was a bit unstable, but sleepy at the moment, Darren decided to return her for now before making his way over to Sable to check on her.
Darren's concern only grew though as Sable remained quiet after his inquiry, but he could understand why. They weren't quite out of danger, so they couldn't relax just yet. Still, Sable's silence was deafening, and part of Darren couldn't help but wonder if she was angry at him for asking her to let the twins go. Thankfully Jin broke the silence, reassuring Darren that he would be fine. Darren gave the zorua a nod, clearly relieved that Jin didn't seem to think he was in bad condition, at least not any more so than an normal fight. Certainly not as bad as the fight wth that hex maniac had gone. At last, Sable finished dressing Jin's wounds and spoke, getting right down to business as she asked what they should do, listing some of their options. "It sounds then like trying to get back up through that hole is our best option then." Darren said thoughtfully, glancing up. There was an issue with that option though, which Sable pointed out; there could be Rockets already up there, waiting for them to come climbing up only to knock them back down again. "Mm... I was thinking the same thing..." Darren agreed. Sable's pidgey would have been a nice scout, but it was out of commission from battle. Darren supposed he could send Zephyr up for a look around, but it would likely give away their position.
Thankfully Gavyn, or rather Merlin offered an alternative. Merlin could certainly move back up the hole and take a look around. A clefairy in Mt Moon certainly wouldn't attract any attention, as Merlin pointed out. The clefairy could also help with his psychic powers. "I think we have our escape plan then. Sable, you can use your hoverboard, Gavyn can have Rosemary use her vines and Merlin use his psychic to pull both of us out. I suppose I could attempt to convince Zephyr to fly me out but.... I'd prefer not." Darren cast a sheepish smile. He could only imagine how difficult, and painful that would be. Darren would much rather take his chances with Gavyn's pokemon or Sable's hoverboard. Suddenly, Darren heard a familiar voice call down to them and he glanced up with a smile. "Mitsu!?" Darren called back up with a mixture of relief and disbelief. "Boy am I glad to see you. We ran into trouble with some Rockets." Darren explained. Gavyn seemed unsure really how to feel, asking to make sure that Mitsu was someone they could trust. "Yeah, we met Mitsu back in Pewter. I though he'd gone on ahead to Cerulean already though, so I'm kind of surprised to see him here but hey, I'm just glad he's not another Rocket." Darren suggested as Merlin asked Mitsu to look for Rockets for them. With Mitsu already up there, it made things a lot easier for them when it came to surveillance. Hopefully now they could get out of this arceus forsaken mountain.

After Sable's explanation, Gavyn shuffled around uncomfortably."Did you have something you wanted to suggest?"the female trainer asked, trying not to sound too hostile but not really able to keep from being irritated due to the situation at hand. It did seem to be enough to coax the male into sending out one of his pokemon, though, and although the bayleaf didn't seem to like the area much, it did seem that, between Rosemary and Merlin, Gavyn would be able to help two people out of the cave. Adding onto that the possibility of Merlin acting as a scout and the fact that Sable had her board, and climbing their way out through the same hole they fell through sounded like a much more viable option.
For a moment, the teen nodded as Darren verbalized her thoughts, although she winced when he mentioned Zephyr."Yeah... I'd rather not want to deal with him right now,"Sable agreed as she pulled the box for her hoverboard out of her bag."I mean, I know you're still workin-"The teen's comment was cut off when she heard a somewhat familiar voice calling out to her and Darren."Hn?"Sable looked up from the box she pulled out, then chuckled when she saw who was looking down at the group."Trying to get out, that's what,"she called back in response to the teen's question, sounding a bit less irritated overall but still tense.
Since Merlin was chatting with Mitsu and Darren was explaining things to Gavyn, Sable was able to focus a bit more on unpacking her board and getting on the gloves for it."Right then... I guess I'll have to recall one of you and carry the other out,"she said to Jin and Lily as her board whirred to life. The little gekkit was startled by the sudden noise and yipped in fear as she ducked behind Jin and curled up into her bamboo collar. Sable sighed lightly as her zorua tried to calm Lily down, then grabbed the gekkit's pokeball in case it needed to come to that."It's okay. No one here is going to let anything happen to you,"the teen insisted, but it was no use. Sighing lightly, Sable ended up pointing the ball at the little fairy fox."We still need to get out of here, so until we're back on the main floor, you can stay safe in your ball. Alright?"she explained, then recalled the pokemon once Lily gave a small nod.
With that taken care of for the moment, Sable scooped Jin up into her arms and stepped on her board."Up we go,"the teen said to give the zorua a bit of warning before sending the board upward through the hole. Since she didn't bother putting on her helmet, she decided not to push her luck too far and instead navigated over to a spot with enough distance from the hole that the ground wouldn't crumble under her feet as soon as she put her weight on it. She then got off her board and kept an eye out around the area while the others made their own way out.

Beth smiled at Hercules' excitement of her offer. Right now didn't seem like an ideal time to wonder off to find some fresh water, but she was still more than happy to do it at the next available moment. She chuckled as he shoved his face into one of her bushes. Soon after, Hercules let loose a spray of water. ("Oohhh~ That is nice! Thank you for sharing!") Beth exclaimed happily, enjoying the feel of the spray of water settling on her back, clinging to the leaves on her bushes. She looked back to her trainer though from the commotion, and seeing as they were going to be getting out of this area, the Grotle made her way back over to her trainer.
Merlin tilted his head as Darren responded to his comment. It was... too much of an explanation. "Heh, just take the compliment. Not everyone is going to remember all the possible moves a Clefairy can learn." he commented, amused. The pink fairy thought it was cute in a way how Darren had chipped away at the complement modestly. Soon though, they got right to business with getting up through the hole.
Gavyn had flinched a bit when Sable asked him for suggestions, meekly giving his response. She was... certainly not a typical, soft-spoken young lady. They both seemed to trust this 'Mitsu' that was above them, and Merlin even spoke to him. So they came up with a plan and got ready to get out as soon as Mitsu gave the all clear. "O-okay... well then... Ready?" Gavyn asked the other two trainers. Sable was pulling some... type of board out. She had called it a hoverboard, whatever that was. It wasn't until she stood on it and it started to ... hover, that Gavyn was completely bewildered. Seeing Sable go up through the hole first on that... that thing! The bespectacled male was lost in a fit of confused, unintelligible mumblings. Sorcery! It had to be a trick! "... Oh dear... Gavy seems to be... a bit broken." Merlin commented, looking a bit concerned to his trainer. Rosemary, not waiting for orders, moved and wrapped her vines around her mumbling trainer and lifted him up through the hole. "Ready, Darren? Do you require our help at all?" The clefairy turned to the other male after Gavyn was placed safely up above.
It took Gavyn a bit to recollect himself, returning Beth to her ball to get her back up through the hole. It was brief, though, as he let her back out soon after. Rosemary was still down there, waiting to see If Darren needed her help, but once Darren was up, Gavyn returned the bayleef, leaving her in her ball since she hadn't seemed interested in staying out. Merlin simply floated on up out of the hole after Darren, rejoining his trainer. "Er... anyways, what is a rocket...? And... um... what is... that thing that woman kept calling me...?" Gavyn questioned Darren and Sable once they were up, since they had likely heard that 'noob' word being thrown around.
"Thank you for being the look out, sir!" Merlin thanked Mitsu with a toothy smile. "O-oh... er, yes. Thank you for the help. My name is Gavyn Woods." the brunette finally got around to thanking the pale male that had been the look out for them.

Darren hesitated a bit as Merlin insisted he just take the compliment, but clearly gave in, feeling a bit bad. "Yes, yes I'm sorry. Thank you." He nodded, fiddling with his fingers awkwardly. Darren simpered a bit in sympathy as Gavyn seemed unnerved and intimidated by Sable's question. Darren could tell she was trying to keep calm, but for Gavyn, who had never spent time with Sable before, it was understandable if the boy thought Sable was irritated with his presence. At least Gavyn managed to actually get his suggestion in and let his bayleef out. That pretty much solidified a plan for escape, if Merlin was willing to help Darren out anyways, since even Sable agreed that Zephyr wasn't the best option for Darren's ride up. Before she could elaborate more though, Mitsu made an unexpected appearance above, unknowingly offering them more options of escape. Darren chuckled a bit as Sable answered Mitsu's question before explaining to Gavyn, who was understandably lost. His clefairy though, clearly on the keen side, went ahead and asked Mitsu to act as their scout. Once the pale boy gave the all clear, they started to navigate their way back up through the hole. Sable unpacked her hoverboard and returned Lilly, but Darren noticed Gavyn seemed to be doing his best magikarp impression. A hoverboard was certainly a rare piece of technology anywhere other than Orre, but it wasn't so out of the realm of impossibility to cause such a.... As Merlin described it, broken reaction from the meek boy. "Is... He going to be okay...?" Darren asked Merlin as Rosemary lifted Gavyn up and out.
When Merlin offered his assistance, Darren nodded eagerly. "Yes please. I have a skarmory that can fly, but he's.... Still rather feral I suppose. I can't safely say that he would be more helpful than harmful, so if you could lift me out with your psychic, that would be great." Darren agreed, returning Flynn and Hercules briefly so that he could be lifted up and out. It was a bit strange, the feeling of being lifted without being touched, but it was a far more pleasant experience than it had been with the hex maniac. Her psychic grip had been strangling, not to mention he'd been thrown against a wall. This feeling though, it was clear Merlin was taking great care. It was as though gravity had simply loosened it's hold on him, allowing Darren to slowly drift up and over the hold. "Wow!" Darren breathed, unable to help but laugh a bit in astonishment. "That's amazing, I feel lighter than air!" Darren was beaming by the time Merlin set him down. Now that Darren was safely back on his feet, Flynn and Hercules let themselves out of their pokeballs again. Darren hadn't thought of bringing them back out since the coast was clear, but his pokemon weren't taking any chances apparently. That, and Hercules also wanted to spend more time with his new friend, which he made clear by waddling back over to Beth's side. Darren didn't mind though, as long as Beth and Gavyn didn't either.
Now that they were all safe, it seemed Darren had some explaining to do. "Er, Gavyn, a noob is just short for newbie, like... A new trainer." Darren chuckled. "But you guys... Really don't know who Team Rocket is...?" Darren asked hesitantly, rubbing the back of his head. Gavyn and Mitsu had asked already, and Sable seemed to not have any idea either, though her confusion was understandable given Orre's disconnect to most of the other regions. "Team Rocket is a group of thugs who've terrorized Kanto and Johto for a long time now. They were led by Viridian's old gym leader, Giovanni, but they disbanded a while back. Afterwards there were a few attempts to get the group back together, but they all failed as far as anyone knew. Trainers faught them at every turn, and for the longest time everyone thought they were finally gone for good. Recently though, there's been a lot of reports of Rockets resurfacing...." Darren frowned. I don't know if this is just rebels trying to get the organization back together, or if Giovanni has had them licking their wounds this whole time and rebuilding, but whatever it is.... It can't be good if there's been this many reports. Break ins, pokemon theft, poaching, mugging, recruiting campaigns... Arceus, it's a mess...." Darren muttered.

The gekkit yipped once, then ducked into her bamboo collar to hide as soon as she noticed that there was yet another new person in the area."It's okay. There's nothing to be scared of,"the teen softly assured the little fairy fox as she scooped the gekkit up into her arms and straightened up. Lily kept herself withdrawn in the safe little shell the collar provided, so Sable just kept holding the pokemon close and rubbing the top of her head in an attempt to make the gekkit feel a bit safer.
Once Gavyn had recovered from his initial shock and recalled his pokemon, it seemed he had some more questions. While Sable was glad she wasn't the only one among the group that was unfamiliar with Kanto's main criminal organization, the male's other question did strike Sable as a bit awkward. She let out an exasperated chuckle once Darren finished his explanation of what a "noob" was to the poor guy."That's what it's supposed to mean, anyway,"she corrected with a pained smile."The term's been so badly abused since it was first made that it has become more a generic insult than anything else. More often than not, people like the person you were fighting use it to refer to someone they believe is incompetent regardless of the actual amount of skill or experience either person has... Um..."It was only after finishing her explanation that Sable realized she might have said too much, and she felt rather awkward afterwards."Nice goin', sis,"Jin thought out loud with a much more childish voice that Mitsu would recall the dark type's usual appearance having."Shut it, fuzz butt,"Sable muttered quietly as she lightly toed him with her boot.
With the definition question out of the way, Darren got to filling the trio of clueless trainers in on what was up with the gang they just fought. Most of the stuff sounded like a case of different name, same game to Sable, although she visibly winced when it was mentioned that their leader had also been a gym leader. Not just any gym leader, either, but the one in charge of the first gym trainers starting in Kanto would see."Ouch... I can just imagine the trouble that revelation caused for the League..."the teen mumbled in sympathy, then frowned when Darren explained that incidents like the one the group had just dealt with were becoming more common."Sounds like we got off lucky, then..."Sable commented, since it was starting to sound like her assessment of where the operatives the group faced sat on the totem pole was pretty accurate. And if that was the case, she didn't want to think of how bad things could have become if the opponents were tougher.
That's why, instead of dwelling on the thought, Sable decided to try changing the subject a bit."A-anyway, Mitsu! What are you doing in here?"she asked the teen, then chuckled sheepishly."I would have thought you'd have beaten Misty by now. Or are you just doing a bit of training before facing... Uh...""Surge.""Right! That Surge guy."Jin let out a sigh after he reminded his trainer which gym leader came after Misty within Kanto. Not that he could blame her, though. That they had come to Kanto instead of going to Hoenn or Sinnoh for their first badge had been a whim on his part and his trainer was willing enough to trust him and go with him even though all three of the regions would probably have thrown her off. He'd have to take some time to go over which leader was in which town, which order they were faced in, and what type they specialized in once they were somewhere safer.

He didn't like that his theory was right."Can't say I'm happy to hear that....Still, posing as a gym leader is pretty smart. No one would suspect a gym leader to be the head of organized crime."Regardless, if any of these Rockets tried to take his Pokémon, he'd snap their worthless necks and be done with it. He wouldn't say that, though. When attention was turned to him on Sable's part, he smiled at her."I won Misty's badge a little while ago. I just came back here to train some. Hanataro needs to catch up to everyone. When he is, I'll go forward and train up for my battle against Surge."

Merlin merely gave a smile, satisfied when Darren finally just accepted his compliment. Gavyn had a bit of a breakdown as Sable had used a Hoverboard. While the clefairy hadn't ever seen or heard of a device like that, he merely shrugged it off, but felt a bit bad for his trainer. He looked over to Darren as he asked if Gavyn was going to be okay. "Don't worry about Gavy... he's just a bit out of touch with times. He'll be fine. Thank you for your concerns, though." the pink pokemon responded. Soon after, he was helping Darren up out of the hole, rather enjoying the male's reaction to his use of Psychic. He half-expected Darren to start doing somersaults in the psychic bubble he was transporting him in.
Shortly after Rosemary had moved him up, Sable seemed to notice that Gavyn was still... well, bewildered. He blinked at her comment, looking off to the side a bit sheepishly, still feeling a little overwhelmed. That thing had floated up through the air! On it's own! It wasn't being moved with Psychic, was it? "R-r-r-right... Heh... I'm... f-f-fine..." he managed to stutter out a bit of a mumbled response, taking some time to calm himself. Eventually, he was able to return his bayleef and get Beth up with him. Soon after, Darren and Merlin rejoined the group. The bespectacled male, now back on his feet, introduced himself to the pale male that had helped them. "I-it's nice to meet you, Mitsukini." he sheepishly smiled to Mitsu after his introduction. "Heh, Pleasure to meet you, Mitsu! My name is Merlin!" the clefairy grinned up at Mitsu, then took a look at the pokemon that were introduced. Weird... two charmeleons named Flynn. In the same area, too!
Gavyn finally was able to ask some questions, and Darren gave the first explanation as to what a 'noob' was. Was it... really that bad to be a new trainer? Sable eventually elaborated, causing him to shrink back a little. Incompetent...? He supposed that maybe it was true - maybe he really did give of an air of incompetence. Gav fidgeted a bit, fingers tugging the neck of his sweater up a bit. "I guess it makes sense.... It is still a ... strange word..." he meekly commented. Did such a word even have an etymology? Maybe he should try to find a library again. He snapped out of his thoughts as he heard a childish voice, causing him to look around. It didnt' seem like there was any kids around. Sable had responded to the voice, seeming like it was directed to that strange fox. Wait... did... did that thing just speak? "Gavy, don't look so shocked. I can speak, too, you know." Merlin commented, noticing his trainer's surprised expression. Gavyn looked down, embarrassed, falling into silence while Darren explained what 'Team Rocket' was. So it was some group of thugs... Gavyn wasn't really surprised that there was groups of organized crime like that, but... he had never even heard of them. Or the leader. It was all new to him, though back in his day, there were always a few gaggles of hooligans that would break the law. "Thank you... I will keep in mind to watch out for those team rockets." Gavyn replied quietly, a bit glad for the information.
Sable and Mitsu ended up talking about the gym leader in Cerulean, and the one that seemed to come after that. Surge? Data hadn't told him about that one yet. Anyways, it seemed like the majority of the group might be heading in the same direction as him, which was a relief. He hated traveling in dark places on his own. Even if he always had his pokemon with him... it just wasn't quite the same. "Oh... I was actually on my way to challenge Misty, actually." Gavyn commented a bit awkwardly, still fidgeting. Beth was nearby, greeting her new marshtomp friend as they rejoined once more. ("Hey, do you know where your trainer is headed? Maybe we can travel together! Then i can lead you to some water to play in!") Beth asked Hercules. It'd be fun to play in the mud, now that she thought of it.

Darren chuckled a bit as Sable sheepishly mentioned she'd forgotten the tech differences between Orre and the rest of the pokemon world. "It's nothing to be sorry about~ It's really cool how advanced Orre's tech is actually." He insisted. It probably didn't help that Gavyn was out of touch with the times, as Merlin had put it. The mainlands technology was pretty cutting edge as well, and Darren was familiar with it, but even that didn't make Sable's hoverboard any less of a shock. So if Gavyn wasn't even used to modern technology, then it was no wonder the hoverboard was quite a shock to him. Thankfully the boy seemed to recover rather quickly to meet and greet Mitsu. Darren was glad his new friends were getting to meet each other, though he had to agree with Mitsu that getting stuck in holes would not be a preferable reason to reunite. When the questions started rolling in though, Darren gave an admittedly technical definition of the word noob, such that Sable felt the need to expand. Not that Darren minded, though when she started to ramble, a small enamored smile started to grow unknowingly on his lips. It was pretty cute when she rambled, though Darren wondered if this was a normal thing for Sable, or if he was just starting to rub off on her. Either way Darren stood there with a stupid grin on his face until he realized what he was doing and tore his gaze away quickly in embarrassment.
Eventually, Sable trailed off and seemed to realize she was rambling herself, Jin of course unable to resist the opportunity to poke fun at her for it. Sable retaliated in kind, earning a quiet chuckle from Darren. Annnd she was back. Gavyn still seemed a bit disturbed by what he had been called, Darren couldn't tell if their explanation had helped or made it worse. "Don't take it to heart." Darren insisted, a hint of irritation towards the rockets clear in his voice. "You really handled your own out there, so you proved them wrong." He pointed out with a shrug. After explaining who Rocket was though, there was an understandably contemplative silence afterwards as the three digested the unsettling information. Sable spoke up first on the mess that the league had to clean up upon realizing that Giovanni was the head of Team Rocket. "Yeah. Replacing him wasn't too terribly difficult, but ensuring the public that they had no affiliations with Team Rocket and that they would make sure it didn't happen again... That was quite the nightmare I'm sure." Darren agreed with a nod, looking to Mitsu as he commented that he wasn't very happy to hear about all of this, though Giovanni was pretty smart, posing as a Gym Leader. "Yeah, a lot of people weren't. Not to mention he wasn't posing; he was fully certified by the league and really strong, but I agree, it was a good tactic on his part. Though, which came first, being gym leader or the head of Team Rocket, I'm not sure...." Darren explained.
Sable was right, they had gotten off lucky dealing with a few grunts. "Yeah... It's unlikely that those grunts are here alone. Generally there's at least one admin overseeing everything." Darren mentioned. "Er.... So can we walk and talk guys....? Just uh.... To be safe.... And closer to Cerulean in case we need to get help." Darren mentioned nervously. They were standing around the hole they'd fallen through, which was making Darren a tad bit uncomfortable. Sure they'd at least gotten out, but they weren't safe yet. To change the subject to something a bit lighter, Sable asked Mitsu what he was doing in Mt. Moon, figuring that he'd beaten Misty already and was heading for Surge. "Yeah, I thought you'd at least be in Cerulean by now." Darren agreed. Plus, wasn't he traveling with someone? Ezra was his name, right...? Ugh, Darren wasn't sure. He was so terrible with names. Well, except Mitsu's. He'd felt so bad after mispronouncing it the first time that he didn't really think he could ever forget now....
Mitsu explained that he'd beaten Misty already, as they'd expected, but had just come back to Mt. Moon to train up his sylveon. "Ah I see. That makes sense~ Congrats on getting your second badge. Sable and I were heading to Cerulean to do the same actually." Darren grinned. It seemed like Gavyn was planning to do the same too. "Oh? Great! We can all go to Cerulean together~" Darren suggested happily. "You seem to have a lot of grass types Gavyn, Misty should be a breeze." Darren encouraged. Hercules in the meantime had heard Beth's question, but was listening as his trainer talked about them being able to travel to Cerulean together and clapped his flippers together excitedly. ("Sounds like we're all going to be traveling together to the next town! We can go find some water together! It'll be like a fun adventure nyeeheeheh~") He cheered.

Sable chuckled a bit when Mitsu complimented the skittish gekkit."Yes, she is,"the teen replied, then gave a sad smile as she continued cuddling Lily and rubbing her head."It's a shame she's so timid around people, though."Sable couldn't really blame the little pokemon for her problems, though. Not with the incident with the kids and this new situation with the Rockets. Even so, things could have been worse, and the thought of what could have been caused the teen to cuddle the little fairy fox a bit tighter for a moment."I'd normally let you see if she'd let you pet her, but I think she's just about done with most people for a while,"she apologized before turning her attention back to the rest of the group.
Now that Gavyn was up, introductions were once again tossed around. Sable winced slightly when she realized that, with how tense the situation with the Rockets had been, she hadn't actually introduced herself to Gavyn yet. She didn't get much chance to add hers to the mix, though, since Gavyn soon asked what the word that operative he was battling kept calling him meant. Although Darren's explanation was fine for a textbook definition, Sable felt the teen aught to know what was being implied rather than what the word should have meant. Her expansion on the definition seemed to do more harm than good, and the teen had an uncomfortable feeling as her explanation wound down and she noticed Gavyn's discomfort. At least Jin's comment distracted Sable enough that she didn't make things any worse.
Afterwards, Darren filled the group in on what kinds of baddies they had encountered. Sable had heard the name of the group before from some of the people around the port, but the most she had been able to scrape together had just been the same old story as just about any other group: They're a group of thugs causing trouble for everyone. Hearing Darren's explanation, though, it sounded like, while whether they were as dangerous in terms of strength as what she was more used to hearing about was debatable, in terms of impact on society it sounded like they were about as bad as one of the groups her own home region had to deal with. The problems caused sounded pretty similar, too, right down to having to patch up a huge hole blown in their reputation after a well-respected and important member of their society was ousted as the organization's leader.
Sable couldn't help but mention her relief that the group were only dealing with a few low-ranking thugs at the moment, but at the mention of the possibility of an administrator keeping an eye on things the teen didn't have to be told twice to get her butt in gear. She might have been confident against those grunts, but she was well aware of what sort of trouble even a low-ranking admin could cause and she didn't want to push her luck."Yeah, no problem with that,"she agreed as she followed along with Darren, then changed the subject, asking about what Mitsu was doing in the cave. It seemed especially odd when he admitted he already had the badge from Cerulean's gym, but the explanation that he was raising up his sylveon helped to clear things up."Ah, sounds smart enough,"Sable agreed, then listened for a bit while Gavyn explained he was also after the badge in Cerulean and Darren offered for the group to head there together.

Gavyn shuffled his feet a bit bashfully as Darren told him that he proved that rocket wrong about him being incompetent. It was... a nice thing to hear, even though he still wasn't quite convinced. He appreciated the male's effort, though, putting on a small smile. "I guess I did... with Beth's help. Thank you, Darren." he commented, then listened as the group talked a bit more about team rocket. Gavyn didn't really have anything to add, but by the end of it, it seemed the group was ready to start moving again.
"Oh... wait... Um, I'm going to do something about this hole before someone else gets hurt. - Merlin, mind helping, please?" Gavyn told the others, then got Merlin's attention. The Clefairy gave a nod, and with some direction from Gavyn, he moved a large boulder nearby with Psychic to block off the hole. Once that was done, Gavyn caught up with the others rather quickly, glad to be traveling through the dark cave with others. He greatly appreciated the invite. "Thank you for inviting me along." Gavyn smiled at the other brown haired male. He sheepishly played a bit with his braid after Darren had mentioned that with his grass types, he'd do fine against Misty. "Heh... Er... Yes... I'm really fond of grass types..." he mumbled a bit. He hadn't even thought of the advantage his grass types would have over the next gym. In fact, he didn't even remember what Data had told him about Misty. It was nice to know he should do fine, though.
Beth was beyond excited when it seemed that they were moving forward, and most of all, getting to travel more with her new friend, Hercules! The Grotle trilled a bit in happiness, bounding ahead as the group started to move. ("Awesome! We get to have an adventure together!") Beth exclaimed, snorting a bit. The marshtomp certainly had a unique laugh.

Darren nodded as Gavyn thanked him, but then suggested perhaps they try and keep moving considering he'd just mentioned that where there were grunts, there were usually admins not too far behind. He wasn't surprised that Sable didn't take much convincing to keep moving, though Gavyn seemed too concerned about other people possibly following in his footsteps, quite literally, and had Merlin help him patch up the hole that they had all fallen through. Darren nodded, quite impressed by Gavyn's selfless concern, but also quite worried. While Sable and Mitsu moved on ahead, Darren trailed a bit behind as a path marker between the rest of the group and Gavyn, keeping an eye on both until Gavyn and Merlin had finished and caught up with the rest of the group. Once he had, they began discussing challenging Misty, and Darren suggested they could all go into Cerulean together, which Gavyn seemed happy to hear at least, since the boy thanked Darren for inviting him along. "Why wouldn't I?" He asked half jokingly. There was no point in being flat out rude. Gavyn seemed like a nice boy, and he'd certainly helped them in a bind. If they were all headed in the same direction, it seemed silly and downright mean to exclude him at this point.
Since they were talking about Misty, Darren couldn't help but mention his notice of Gavyn having a lot of grass types. Such a team build would make Misty an easier opponent. It seemed Mitsu didn't really get the chance to comment on the subject though, and he was pulled into some sort of phone call soon after the subject came about. It wasn't really a phone call though, more like some sort of video message? So technically it was more of a text than a call. But with a video. Er.... Darren shook his head, thinking to much into it. He'd heard of those devices. They were Kalos tech, of which he wasn't really very familiar with, so he couldn't help but try and wrap his head around it. Otherwise though he tried not to listen to the call, since he felt it would be rude and an invasion of personal space to listen in. So instead he focused on Gavyn as he agreed that he was rather fond of grass types. "Grass is a sturdy type selection. They're very hardy and dependable, advantageous with health sapping moves and combinations, interesting secondary type combinations.... Personally I would love to get my hands on a lotad and evolve it into a ludicolo. I hear they're quite the tank, given that they're a dual water and grass type." Darren babbled thoughtfully.
Afterwards, Mitsu seemed to have finished his video messaging and returned to the group, seeming to be quite happy that they were heading back to Cerulean and willing to tag along since he had to ask--- Ezra! That was the fellow's name--if he could go to Lumiose. "Oh? What's the occasion? And how is Ezra by the way? I was wondering earlier where he was and how he was doing, though I don't think I actually er.... Vocalized that. Did I...? Goodness, I can never tell these days..." He grinned sheepishly, scratching his head. Unfortunately, trouble was up ahead. As the group neared the exit to Cerulean, Darren noticed another small group walking towards them. There could be no mistake, the large red R emblems erased any doubt; the admin(s) had found them. "That's them.... They're the ones." The unfortunately familiar grunt muttered, and Darren felt his blood run cold. "Hmph. I must say, the fact that you brats have forced me to come up to deal with you is formidable, but this little game is over. Surrender your pokemon now and I won't lay a finger on your little heads." She practically purred. "...You guys go on and run to Cerulean for help. I'll hold her off." Darren insisted, stepping forward with Flynn and earning him a catty and confident smile from the admin. "How quaint, and here I though chivalry was dead~ You brats aren't going anywhere however." She smirked, tossing out a whiscash. "Magnitude!" She commanded before anyone could get their bearings. Her plan was clear, at least for Darren. She was trying to break open the ground below them again so that they couldn't just run out the exit. "Intercept with a dragon rush Flynn!" Darren commanded quickly. He didn't like the type match up, but Flynn was the strongest pokemon on his team. If any of his pokemon had a chance against this admin's pokemon, it was him. Flynn was a little faster than the whiscash and managed to slam into it with his dragon rush, but the mud fish proved quite durable and slammed it's body into the ground over and over to cause a strong tremor, and Darren and Flynn ended up toppling over from the seismic activity.

For the most part, Sable kept quiet while following along with the group. Even though she was trying to relax, she still felt tense after the group's encounter with those operatives. She did slow down and even stopped for a moment as Gavyn and Merlin worked to fill in the hole in the ground, but once the duo and Darren caught up she went back to a brisk pace in an attempt to leave the caves behind her. It was rather irritating from her point of view, since she actually wanted to hang around for a while and soak up the atmosphere. She wasn't dumb, though, and knew that the best thing to do when bad guys were lurking around was to avoid being spotted while slipping away. Sure, there had been that encounter down the hole, but they still had time before someone showed up, right?
Wrong. Darren had started asking about the call Mitsu had gotten and how Ezra was doing when a regrettably familiar voice was heard pointing the group of teens out."...Why am I not surprised...? Oh, right..."Sable grumbled as she turned to see what the group had to deal with now, then pursed her lips and furrowed her brow when she saw that a group of those Rockets had confronted them. The teen couldn't help but notice that a small number from that group, including the one that was now trying to convince the group to surrender their pokemon, had slightly different outfits than the grunts they had faced earlier. It might not have seemed that big of a thing to most people, but from Sable's experience any deviation from the basic outfit meant the operative in question was permitted some creativity in their apparel, and that typically meant they were higher up on the food chain than the basic grunts. Still, the outfits weren't too different from that of the grunts, so if her initial assumption was correct, it was also likely the operative doing the talking wasn't that much more powerful than the grunts following her.
The teen's eyes narrowed a bit as Darren insisted that she and the others go and get help."Gavyn and Mitsu can go. I'm staying,"she countered, then gave Darren a glare before he could object."I don't ditch my friends,"she said simply, and for her, there was nothing more to debate. It was probably a good thing Sable was more interested in staying than trying to run, too, as the Admin's response was to send out a whiscash to either knock the floor out from under them again or drop the roof down onto their heads. Sable usually wasn't one to butt into someone else's fight, but if someone was fighting dirty, well, it never hurt to even the odds."Oaken! He- Aaaaah!!"Before the teen could send out her servine to even the odds, she felt herself being picked up off the ground by some unseen force and flung upwards and away from the group by that same force.
Jin yipped a few times in shock as his trainer suddenly got yanked away from the group before bolting off after her. At least Sable hadn't been flung too high up, or else she'd have had a worse landing that what she now had to deal with. The dark type felt bad for Lily, who had ended up being dragged along for the ride due to Sable feeling like she was too high up to safely let go of her once she realized what was actually happening. The tremor tripped Jin up, both figuratively and literally, and the small fox pokemon ended up tumbling the rest of the distance to his trainer."Did you really think you'd be allowed to interfere?"an unfamiliar voice asked, and Jin let out a (comparatively) low growl at the speaker, some guy wearing an outfit similar to the one the operative whose whiscash was now battling Darren's charmeleon.
Sable let out a groan and a growl of her own as she let go of Lily, who was hiding in her bamboo collar and shaking after the unexpected flight. Before she could so much as get to her knees, though, she felt herself be forcibly lifted up again. This time, she could see the culprit, a bronzor that the operative had that was using some measure of telekinetic power to treat her like its personal rag doll. Probably not a large amount of power, but even something as weak as Confusion was enough to toss her around. It wasn't enough to keep her from moving, though, so the teen's first reaction was to reach for one of her pokeballs. That proved to be a bad move as the bronzor used its power to slam the teen into the ground."So sorry, but our subordinates were very specific,"the man gave as a mock apology before nodding at the psychic type. The pokemon then turned to the zorua that was about to pounce on it and gave the dark type a glowing stare before floating out of the way of the pokemon. Dark types might be immune to psychic attacks, but moves like Imprison or, more specifically, Hypnosis still posed a problem for the now-snoozing zorua.
"Yes, they were quite clear about you and your boyfriend,"the man continued as Sable started to stand up. She didn't get very far before she was yet again plucked off the ground by the beldum's telekinetic power."You were two of the most obvious threats, having durable pokemon and battle experience that your current location would not imply."Sable wasn't sure what she liked less about the operative right now, his the mockingly-apologetic expression on his face or how long-winded he was sounding. At the moment, it was a pretty close call. The man sighed at the scowl on Sable's face before glancing over to his comrade, then shook his head and turned back to Sable."Well, if your friends won't listen to reason, then maybe you'll be useful in convincing them to cooperate..."The man then made a small motion with his hand similar to a dismissive wave and his bronzor's eyes started glowing. Before it could really do anything, though, some electrified webbing shot out from somewhere just above Sable's shoulder and hit the floating hunk of metal dead on, not doing much damage but distracting it and its trainer for a moment.
Sable was confused, but didn't give it much thought as she quickly grabbed at one of her pokeballs while she had the opportunity."Amethyst!""No."At the implied command, the bronzor went to knock itself into the teen's hand to break the ball, but it was slowed down by the electric attack and instead ended up colliding with a rather aggravated ekans."Clamp on and don't let go!"Sable quickly commanded as she hurriedly shifted away from where she had been slammed to the ground so, one, she could get to her feet, and two, she could avoid being far closer to that operative or his pokemon than she wanted to be. Amethyst, to her credit, understood the teen's command well enough to wrap herself around the bronzor so she couldn't be pried off too easily before sinking her fangs into the psychic hunk of iron as best as she could. A good thing, too, as the bronzor was trying to do just that with what telekinetic power it could muster. The struggle didn't last too long, and soon enough the bronzor fell to the ground with a heavy thud and Amethyst finally unwound herself from her unconscious opponent.
Letting out a sigh of relief now that she was on her feet and the thrice-damned psychic type was unconscious, Sable felt much better now that one problem was dealt with."Heh... Let me guess..."she began with a chuckle, sounding rather tired from getting tossed like some toddler's toy."You guys got warned not to give us any chances, right? Hence the dirty tricks right out of the gate."For a moment, the operative only glared in response as he recalled his unconscious pokemon. He then let out a harsh sigh before chuckling."That..."he agreed, then clipped the ball back onto his belt."...And the fact that you're not quite as naive as the usual children that pass through here."With that, the operative sent out his other pokemon, a heliolisk, to face the teen and her pokemon.

Mitsu didn't get much of a chance to answer Darren before they were stopped by a group of who he could only assume was Team Rocket. Man....Their clothes were worse than he could imagine.
