No. Marketplace GC purchase will not earn your Stars.
Aren't people technically spending GC in the Marketplace... I know it's not disappearing back into your system but it is spending the GC, so it should technically earn Stars.
Unfortunately, it creates a loophole to abuse the system. One user could technically create two separate accounts and shift their inventory from one account to another while earning points. sad
I am amending my statement... we will allow for marketplace gc purchase to count, excluding gift card purchases. This will be updated in the FAQ and updated on the system by next week. We will give more details about it then!

I'm not getting why MP GC purchases don't count? The GC disappears when you purchase an item with it, so unless a user has a way to generate unlimited amounts of gc for no cost, he/she is otherwise buying gc to do this.
The abuse part is actually with the gc cards, as a user can technically buy a gc card, open it, buy a gc card from the cs, open it, rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

When browsing the marketplace, it is very daunting to try to search for paw items. Searching for "[animal]" and "pawstamp" yields different results, and searching for "[animal]" brings up many items that are not exclusively pawstamp items. In the shops there is a way to filter only paw base items, so I assume they are somehow tagged on the back-end as being paw base items.
Is there a possibility to have an [animal] filter added to the drop down for the search in the marketplace?
Being a paw user is hard enough as it is without it being made difficult to buy our items. :C
There should be a better way to filter results. I will look into adding such a filter while adding sorting options to marketplace search.

Arenas Seems like the avatar arenas are finally back up and almost working properly. ('View all' link still not working) When will the prize money amount change to reflect the inflation? I understand that the project to completely update arenas may not be a reasonable option this year.

Question Category Gaia Pledge Flairs.
I guess I'd really like to know why Gaia Pledge Flairs and the like (without flairs) are allowed to be sold and purchased off the marketplace? It was an upsetting discovery when I realized how much it devalues the purpose of supporting each month to keep the site going, especially when anyone can pick it up with virtual currency, even those who don't care if Gaia sinks or swims.
I sincerely feel like people who support you each month should be rewarded with exclusivity and that it would encourage more people to pay $2.50 if that was the only means of obtaining it. There is a big difference between using real cash to buy from the cash shop and sell on the market for virtual profit, than paying real cash to make sure the site keeps going month by month. One is casual and the other is dire.
It's honestly really upsetting for me personally and I'd like to know why it has to be this way, and if changing it could be considered? I don't see anything wrong with gifting flairs as it's already allowed, because the gifter is still paying for it and if they don't want it anymore it can be trashed. Just really discouraging for me as a supporter to discover all this just so recently.
I'm sorry you felt this way towards how the pledge items operate.
The Gaia Pledge items follows the original donation item's model, where users who contribute are doing so to help support Gaia's operation, with who end up wearing the donation item being a secondary aspect.
Those who support Gaia often purchase more than one of the same item, and if we gate that aspect and give no incentive for our supporters to share their purchased items, then Gaia wouldn't have the funds to exist today.
If we only allow gifting to occur, Gaians would instantly setup shops on the forums where items would be given to those who pay. It comes down to whether we set the item as soul bound or not, and at the end, we decided not to. Hope you understand our point of view.

Shops Creating Marketplace listings can be pretty frustrating if you're selling something from a page that isn't the first one and your page refreshes if you have more than one copies of the item you sell. Could we get a "jump to page" option on the top (under the search bar), or perhaps be redirected to the last page we were on when we picked an item to sell?
I'll add that to the to-do list. We can also make the page remember your last page in your inventory.

Can a favorites feature be added to marketplace shops?
I find myself going back to a few peoples shops often when things in my wishlist get put up for sale and then I'll browse whatever else they have at the time too and use their shop to fill up missing items to my paw collection and hey, sometimes we have the same tastes. It'd be super convenient if I could save my favorite user shops all in one place for quick reference.

Those items when sold would grant less than a plat. But the amount of gold/partial plat is added to your account so even tho it looks like you are not getting anything the system keeps track of it all so nothing is lost.

Question - Are there currently any plans to repair the gold/platinum issued by the Aquarium Overseer/Message in a Bottle? If the reward from the Aquarium Overseer is 100-odd to 222 it can several hundred platinum. Anything issued over this amount is 1 platinum. Similarly when selecting a winner for Message in a Bottle it is 1 platinum.
I'll look into it again and make sure it grants the proper amount.

Pawstamp wearable items are listed as "Game Items" under Type. (For example: Type in 'arms' under "Game Items" filter and you get anything that is tagged as such, but only Paw items!) Additionally, newly released items are not filtering under "Paw Based Items" OR "Game Items".
Is there any progress being made to fix these issues with the filter?
I'm not sure if that was an inherent problem with the paw system being added on later into our system. I'll have a look and see if that can be changed or fixed.

Can I have someone answer me if I am ever going to have my item returned or not, please?
During the server migration I had the item [KINDRED] Watermeat up for purchase in my store. I had not received noticed that it had sold, nor did I notice any increase in my funds as it had been, but the item is missing from my inventory. I looked into this, only noticing it when others had mentioned that some of their items went missing. I checked and this seemed to be the case for myself. Lanzer mentioned it would be fixed I waited, but my item was not returned. I tried to let him know in that thread he seemed to indicate there were issues and that it would be fixed. Again I waited and still the item has not returned. I have tried multiple times to contact him, but he does not reply at all.
I would like my item back and am at a lost on how to have it appear again. The market says I own it but it is not in my inventory. This seems to be my last avenue as it seems the bug forum is ignored for the most part, Lanzer ignores, and perhaps I am the only one still having this issue.
I had ran a few scripts to restore the marketplace entries, let me look into your store and hopefully find the root cause of why you're still missing your item. Sorry for the long wait.

Last week, I saw staff in ATS handling a problem for a couple users, involving their items disappearing from the marketplace and never reappearing in their inventories during migration. I'm having a similar problem, where I lost an item that was in trades at the time. I submitted a ticket a while back, and I was wondering how far you guys are along on writing a script or something that returns all the missing items? You said some of it might have to be handled manually, but you only specified for the market, when the problem was more widespread than that.
We will be working on this problem later this week, will look into trades also. Trade works very differently as it's not maintained by a background task to expire listings, so the number of affected trades are very low.

The gold currency will retire and everything will become platinum, there is no transfer needed as everything will automatically be converted into Platinum. There's a big list of changes that we need to make before hand, so it's taking a while.

Are you guys able to figure out a solid plan that can tackle this unstoppable hyper inflation? The introduction of the Platinum currency did not do much. And the constant increase of CS prices doesn't help either.
We do need to have more ways to take in gold as Gaia consistently give out large sums of gold every day. We do try to curb the effect with things like the Valentine's event being more of a gold sink, though the response from us doing so had been mixed. We'll keep trying to have more gold sink events to help curb inflation.
I know Lanzer gave us two links to try out in the event of a trade not completing correctly . However, is he aware that if there are currently-open trades when one uses the tool/link to recover missing items, then all items in all open trades are recovered?
Also, can there be a more prominent way for us to find these two links than having to dig through the Bug/Report forum? Considering how many topics pop up daily in that forum dealing with missing items in trades, I think a more wide-spread announcement (and possibly an add-on to either the drop-downs or the footer) might be called for.
There must be a bug in the trade recovery tool that did not omit existing trades. We will have that fixed later today. Once we have the bugs sorted out we will make it a more permanent option.

What is going on with Team Fondue? We recently received a pm saying we received too much platinum but it doesn't make sense for everyone.

I have been earning platinum through my art shop, through the market, through games, through posting, and selling my Gcash items. I had 60-80k plat after the event and had earned up to 287,000 plat by yesterday (3/26/19). Whatever happened, I am really frustrated and upset. I just wasted a lot of real money that was essentially taken away from me. The platinum I had after the event was not 285,000 and to me it feels that a VERY big error has been made.
After the event, I was granted exactly 1,000 platinum for being on team Fondue. I remember this very clearly. I was not granted any amount above 1k. Some users claim they were granted trillions and trillions of gold. I was NOT one of those people that ended up with a huge amount. Therefore, Gaia has wrongfully taken away platinum from my account that was not received as an error, which includes platinum I made from spending real money. It seems that some users received a huge inflated amount while others did not.
There are also some team Fondue members who didn't have the inflated gold amount taken away as well. I heard some were told to just keep the extra amount.
There was a brief moment after the event where my platinum balance magically went up some ridiculous number (it happened to several users but I'm not sure if it was the entire site) and I remember it was adjusted within a matter of a few hours. I vaguely remembering thinking that I had seen an announcement about it too. THAT amount was already previously taken back away though.
I feel whatever is happening right now is really unfair.
Any amount that was deducted should only have happened after the system had granted an amount higher than that in the history data. If you believe that a mistake had been made I will double check and fix any errors.

for some reason, the market place is acting strangely. every time I go to list an item it's still set to the default time "7 days x hours x mins" but in Gaia upgrade, I have all of that set to 14 days and the sorting for the wish list seems to be broken as well. I sometimes can't sort by alphabet or prices because the options are not showing and I'd have to refresh more than 3+ times to try and bring the options back. I also notice that sometimes when it reappears the entire wishlist is without the names and in icon boxes but then it will revert back to the original format but again with no options. I don't know if it's because of all the payment changes on Gaia OR something to do with gaiaupgrade itself. please help! can provide screenshots if need be!
There was a big change to wishlist, but it shouldn't cause any issues, especially not intermittent ones. Please try on another browser just to confirm. Screenshots will help too, thanks.

So... I kinda noticed a hiccup here the other day (that has been pointed out in the Bugs forum), where wishlists were changed to private without users making them private on their own. Figuring that I made a mistake in how I'd marked items, I popped over to my wishlist page, and noticed that all my previously visible wishlists were marked to be private -- something I didn't do. I reverted them to be visible, but within the hour, they were all private again. Any idea on what's causing that to happen?
I thought it might've been while I was changing up some of the content on my profile, but after leaving my profile be for a day or two, it's still happening.
I revamped the wishlist to hold more entries but looks like there's a bug with displaying private/public status. I will fix that later this week, sorry about that.
PS - your settings have not been changed, it's just how the options are displayed on screen.

Are the items from the glitched trades going to be returned soon? Because myself and so many others who, either choose to cancel a trade and start over again or completed trades well, the items are not in our or the other person's inventory and that is very frightening.
Yes I will work on this soon. All items have their individual serial numbers and never get lost, they just sit at different containers during trade, so they will definitely be recovered.

I am still missing a ton of game tab items that vanished during trades from January/February. The items showed up in trade history for both accounts, but neither account has the items. The item recovery tool that was recently added earlier this month did not recover the items on either account. I've asked about this on a couple of ats as well as filed a ticket and haven't heard anything. If someone could look into this it would be appreciated.
We just added a game item recovery tool for trade. If you scroll down on the main trade page you should see the link for the recovery tool. Please try that and see if it helps.

Will we ever be able to gift items from our Game and zOMG! invo tabs/sections? I ask because those items when placed in a trade STILL are going missing. I had a trade with another party and the trade included all game/zOMG! items.

Question: My question is, throughout the years Gaia user's have been quitting, thus in result of their items being kept and less availability in the marketplace. I have looked up many item's in the marketplace and kept track through my wish list and it's been almost 6 months since the item was last on sale or even in the market. Will you guys start making new item's and putting it in the Marketplace for users like me who cannot find a single item's I'm questing/designing? Or will the marketplace continue for months without certain items being available?
Hundreds of items are being rereleased every day, of course with the exception of those that cannot be. Feel free to contribute to this thread for items you would like to see be rereleased! It's checked pretty often, so keep your eye out for all the rerelease methods for items you might be questing.

Any plans to limit inflation in the marketplace? I love gaia and I love the MP but watching every unlisted item soar 300% is really discouraging. I would love to see a HARD limit enforced.
I think we should look into lowering the gold earning on specific features, hard limit doesn't work on free market or sellers would simply sell outside of marketplace or trade with other items.

Update the GCash sale price of items listed in the Marketplace.
I am specifically referring to the option of purchasing Marketplace (vend) listings with GCash that was introduced in the past year or two, though it's not discounting that the GCash value of Gold Shop items also need updating. I initially wrote this up on 26 March 2019, so the items/values are true to that date and are just for example purposes.
This option is still available but with the current item values, it's a mostly useless feature for items. Some people avoid including a GCash value on some anti-money principle, and others (myself included) currently avoid using the feature because the high GCash value currently attached to listings make an item appear overpriced and deter potential buyers. Take this item currently listed in the Cash Shop:

This is showing a price of "$90" for an item that is currently going for "$4.10" in the Cash Shop. I get that the GCash price in the vend isn't intended to compete with the GCash price in the shops, it's there for convenience for people who don't have/don't want to spend gold for listed items, but the GCash per gold/plat amount value for the vend still needs to be reevaluated because I can't imagine anyone would want to spend $90 for that item even at a point in the future where the item may be less available.
There is another end to it, too, where it makes things a bit tricky, because you consider items like Nyamond that are currently listed for 10b/1k plat, where the current GCash rate for that is 200/$2.00. Marketplace listing: https://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace/itemdetail/10474777
Currently we're looking at 1gc per 50m/5plat. One option to consider, and what I believe would be more worthwhile, is having the conversion rate based on the marketplace value of the 200GC Giftcard (https://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace/admin/?item_id=10345633&day_id=1295240195) even if it meant the rate needed to be manually adjusted on a weekly or so basis: https://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace/itemdetail/10345633
Average Buy Price of the 200 GCash Giftcard at the time of writing this, values 200GC at 28kplat/280b, though I forgot to include that data in the screenshot.
So, with the going rate on 26 March 2019: 28000plat divided by 200GC is 140plat (1.4bil gold). This values 140plat as 1GC.
While it's not currently good for items like Nyamond, which would value the item at 7.14GC for the 10b gold (1000 plat) listing price, it believe it would ultimately increase its gold/plat value to even out a bit more with a more reasonable GCash amount.
Going back to the Bubby Cozy For Mew item, a 50k plat (500b gold) listing would go for 357gc, which, while less than the 410gc it is currently listed at in the Cash shop, is still closer to the GCash price in the store. For the sake of items whose GCash values in the vend would challenge their current Cash Shop values, I believe that either the gold prices would adjust until they even out or exceed that, OR, people would start stocking up on GCash cards and incorporating GCash into their vending habits, giving even those who don't actually spend money on the site a fund and competitive way to use up some the GCash in the system.
Having more consistent GCash values across the board could also open the door to making it easier to implement/offer an additional option to directly purchase an item with money that would bypass the need to buy GCash to make purchases. If Gaia can ask users to make direct purchases to get the monthly Gaia Pledges, why not have that option available for the rest of the site? Maybe, when clicking, "buy with GCash" there could be an option to either spend GCash that currently on the account or buy the item directly through Paypal or another approved payment option. This would be good for some people whose decision to spend money on the site that day might come down to that they don't want to buy 500gc to buy a 220gc item.
One option for maintaining the conversion rate outside of having someone manually adjust it would be having something in place that runs automatically once a day. Using my suggestion above, it would update the conversion rate based on the 200GC Giftcard's current going rate, where 1GC = 0.5% of that item's ABP (if I am doing my math correctly). We as users already determine the value of Gaia Cash by how much we buy/sell it for in the vend and exchange, so adjusting the GCash price of these listings is a part of keeping that system consistent across the board.
Disclaimer: I am your targeted audience here, but I think it would be beneficial across the board. I don't have a lot of interest in items, but I have enjoyed collecting things like flairs and I still find items on the vend that catch my interest. Being able to more easily spend GCash on items in the Marketplace is another option for people who don't have a lot of interest in current releases in the the Cash Shops to earn stars to exchange for rewards.
I will talk to the sales team about the issues you presented. We definitely should update that portion of we are to keep it here.

Here are a couple of ideas I have to make the marketplace a little easier to use.
We have the option to cancel all, but I'd like to pick and choose things to cancel without having to cancel each one individually.
I'd also like to see the drop down menu under avis in the marketplace. That would allow us to more quickly message or trade with the store owner.
I'm not sure how easy these changes would be, but I think they could help out store owners and shoppers alike!
Features Is there any chance that the base wishlist can have a "icon only function" Other than the GU extension.
Show just the icons without the names? Do you mean something similar to the grid view in profiles?

#1 Is it safe to trade gold/platinum with friends/others yet? I ask because I like to help others out if they need some dough to buy or create something.
#2 I also am still missing charms from a trade I did a while ago, and I know that another friend is mising inks and bugs that was part of a trade they did.
There had been a bug with game items such as inks and bugs. That bug should have been fixed, and trading gold had nothing to do with that bug, so that's okay either way.
The recovery tool might not have account for game items. I will work on an update to recover those items. Sorry for the wait.

I don't know if this has been suggested or asked about before, but I have a suggestion about item tags. I've noticed, especially for older items, that they don't have enough tags or don't have very good tags. This makes it difficult to find several items. For example, say there's an item with a fox animal companion. You would think that there would be a tag on the item that says "fox" but then it doesn't have the tag saying "fox."
My suggestion would be to have users add the tags to the items. Since there are so many items, it would be easier to have lots of users working on it instead of just moderators and admins.
However, I'm not sure what type of system would work best to avoid users mistagging items or adding irrelevant tags. I think Steam uses a system that adds tags after so many users have suggested a certain one, so that could be one way to do it.
Currently you can add tags while in inventory view when you're looking at an item's details. You should be able to add tags such as "fox" to the item. Moderators help with approving tag suggestions.
