As Alec got situated, Lenore chucked another ball at the mechanism. She missed this time, and the ball rolled to Ashley's feet.

Undeterred, Lenore grabbed another ball and threw it. Another miss, the ball landing in the grass.

The girl picked up another ball and hurled it forward. The ball bounced off the back of the booth and landed at her feet.

It was a good thing Ashley was collecting the balls, else Lenore would have run out ages ago. She threw another but missed.
