Eyes darted everywhere to try and decide what to do next. Vanavia had heard that looking a wher in the eyes could provoke them, was the same true for dragons? She really didn't want to test the theory. She kept her eyes downcast as Smith chattered at the blue dragon. Hopefully she would at least get out of this alive and with everything in tact. The nerves must be getting to her as a strange feeling began to bubble in her head alongside her ragged nerves. It started out low, then it started to grow. She felt... giddy almost? Her heart beat fast and she suddenly wanted to run and to laugh. It didn't matter where she ran, anywhere would do. It was a feeling of freedom she'd not felt in turns. Yet here it was, swirling up from the very core of her being. Freedom, wonder and unbridled joy.

Lifting her head the girl locked eyes with the spotted blue as he pushed himself up and waved at her. Hello my Vanavia. Staring into that gaze an entire new world opened up, as though the dull curtain had been flung back and colour had come powering in without restraint. Vibrant hues she never could have imagined and sights she never could have dreamed of were within her reach. All of it was held in those eyes. The world had never seemed so open and she had not even moved. Yet still those wondrous eyes looked into her. Not at her, into her. I am sorry. I know it should not yet be your time, but I cannot wait. Come with your Horteth, Vanavia, there is so much for us to see in the world; together. Slipping inside as though they had always belonged there. There was a space already made for them where they fitted perfectly and nothing else would ever have filled it. Nothing could ever have matched that feeling, the smiling, dancing, colour. The excitement and the wonder at what was to come.

"Horteth..." Vanavia stood, the name barely a whisper. As though to say it would break the enchantment. A name she had longed to say, but never realised. The odd hatchling looked back at her, tilting his head ever so slightly as she stared at him. He was perfect. Everything about him was just as it should be. Vanavia felt as though her heart would burst, a choked laugh that sounded almost like the start of crying slipped out and before she even realised she was away. "Horteth!" The sheer joy at the cry of the name as she flew down those few steps was only matched by the bugle that erupted from Horteth's throat as he bound up those last few steps. The blue sprang into her arms and two fell together. Vanavia laughed more earnestly than she could every remember laughing, tears rolling down her face at the wonderful life she held her arms. Horteth pushed ever closer, nuzzling his head into first one side of her face then the other. Both overwhelmed with the love they felt, nothing would ever be as important to one than the other and not even death would separate them. Two halves that had found each other and refused to part again.
