The sweet feeling of nostalgia was beginiing to ebb as Gypsy became aware that eyes were upon her. Biting her lip and knowing with an held sigh she was already turning pink, she turned her head enough to look at the other people.

Only a glance and the full blush takes over. Quickly turning back and examining her sandwich, she debates heading back to the hotel. 'Why are you letting this get to you? You can stand here and eat, they don't own the spot and who cares if they look over at you?' Her grey eyes were nearly staring a hole in her sandwich as she tried to reason with herself. The blush was getting to her though and she had started inching away with out realizing.

Forcing herself to pause, she took a deep breath. 'At least finish the sandwich, don't want to insult the cook.' Her hands trembled a little but she went back to nibbling on the sandwich trying not to look over at the others. 'You're probably getting worked up over nothing, just enjoy your lunch,' Gypsy thinks trying to sooth herself.

The mechanic nodded quietly. He did not realize that they had passed each other earlier that day. Aaron took the card & keys looking at the card with interested. "I-I'll take good c-care of her." he said with a small smile.

Once she was gone, he got to work. After pulling it into his station he quickly took off the wheel. He pounded out the bend with a hammer & replaced the tire. This took him some time, but he was actually happy working.

Kaylin turns back to Pepper with a glare, gentle eyes now shards of ice. She writes a note and tears it out of her notebook, shoving it at her before dashing off,

'What is your problem? First you want nothing to do with me and now you supposedly want to help me home and safe? I don't remember a lot of things, but I do remember it's generally not a good idea to give someone who won't even tell you their name where you live or any personal information.

PS: You're giving me figurative whiplash, stop.'

She climbs quickly back up the tree, almost losing her footing once from her agitated state. She pauses to take a calming breath before starting again, making it back up to her previous perch. She starts looking around again, eyes falling first on the lady next to Pepper and then on the pretty lady eating by the tree. Her stomach gives another rumble and she quickly diverts her gaze from the food to the tree branch she's sitting on.

User Image Pepper didn't know what she had expected, exactly. She read the note and sucked her cheeks in, biting down. Gently, she folded the paper in halves and put it safely into her pocket.

At least she's finally showing some sense. She reasoned with herself, If nothing else, maybe at least she'll stop following strangers around.

Pepper left the park under a dark cloud. She didn't particularly care about the other people she left, she had never been big on people in particular. In general, yes. Pepper cared a lot about humanity, voted Democrat, donated to shelters and recycled. But when you got down to particular people, she just got grumpy.

It was a good thing the roses were gone from in front of the florist, or she might have kicked them just because.

The cloud followed Pepper all the way back to Ever After. Slamming the door shut, she stalked over to the counter. Yanking a drawer open, she grabbed an old padlock and stalked back over to the door to barricade herself in. Humanity could stay on the other side of it for the rest of the week as far as she was concerned. She gave the door a pull to make sure it was shut, satisfied she disappeared through a door behind the counter.

The portal led to what Pepper considered her personal quarters, although the tiny room was meant to hold stock for a less bookish shop. There was a thin cot, surrounded by piles of books she was reading, a small apartment stove haphazardly shoved into a corner and a little folding table and chair and more bookshelves.

This was the space Pepper kept the books not suitable for selling. The journals, diaries, accounts and lists that sometimes came along with lot sales from estates. She pulled an old folder gently off of one of the shelves, it was old with a picture of Funshine Bear on the cover. The hinge had been tapped together many times, some of the old pieces of cello tape were brown and flaking from age. The folder creaked as Pepper opened it, sheaves of paper threatened to tumble out in an avalanche of memories, but she was expecting this. Deftly she caught them in her hand and lay the folder on the table.

Her mouth twisted in an ugly way as her eyes scanned the words on the pages confronting her. Pepper removed the paper Kaylin had given her in her pocket. She smoothed it against the edge of the table, careful not to smudge the words. Reading them to herself one more time, mouthing them in the silence of the room.

The orange tom came out of hiding, purring like a motor. He jumped up on the tale and gave her a cat smile, pointing all his whiskers forward.

"Yes, you dumb cat," Pepper scratched him under his chin where he liked it, or tolerated it, she could never tell, "You are the only creature I don't hate as much as everyone else. You don't have to be so smug about it."

Kaylin's paper went into the folder with countless others and then safely back onto a shelf. Then Pepper turned to the second love of her life, baking pies.

Luna snarled quietly as she felt her mood shift. No longer calm bordering on happy, she stretched her neck as the fury washed over her. She leaned against the nearest building, crouching down to make herself as small as possible as people rushed past her, ignoring her as usual. She clutched the bag holding her sandwiches against her side and groaned. She had to put them somewhere, she couldn't carry them when she was like this, and she couldn't make it back to her stash before she had to do... whatever it was she was going to have to do. She looked up and around and noticed a small tarp in an alley. There was no helping it. Even if they weren't there when she came back, that's where they had to go. She got up very slowly, controlling her movements very carefully, and walked to the tarp. She looked around, making sure no one was looking, before lifting the tarp and carefully hiding her bag under it.

Relieved of her burden, Luna scowled at everyone and everything around her. She rolled her shoulders and walked away, her hands balling into fists at her sides. She started walking against traffic on the sidewalk, frustrated that people kept moving out of her way. She had to do SOMETHING, she had to hit something, she had to get this out of her system, if she didn't she was afraid it would overtake all reason. She rushed, in a hurry to get somewhere, anywhere, where she wouldn't get arrested for what she needed to do. A low growl escaped her lips and people she passed looked straight ahead, avoiding her as best they could on the crowded sidewalks. Their avoidance fed her fury and she turned into an alley. Finding it empty, exactly as she expected, she walked toward the nearest dumpster and screamed. She started kicking and punching it, relishing in the echoing THUD THUD THUD, uncaring of whether or not she was drawing any attention.

Maurice's punches thudded dully into the focus mitts held up in front of him, his coach barking a myriad of different punches, jabs and combinations at him to execute. The boxer went through the motions, but his mind was elsewhere, and while not paying attention his weight accidentally shifted and he came near inches from punching his coach in the stomach.

"Watch it, you klutz!" The older man yelled in his knee-jerk reaction, and Maurice quickly backed off and wiped the sweat from his brow, only for more sweat to quickly take its place.

"Sorry coach, but don't worry, your fat would have saved you," he replied with a smirk.

"Hmph, you're lucky I see potential in you, or I wouldn't put up with your back-talk." The coach set down the mitts and got a water bottle for the boxer, which he took with a mischievous smile.

"Aw, you know you love me, coach!"

Between his small break to recover and get ready for the next work-out, Maurice grabbed a couple tickets for the PI. Sure, he didn't know him well, but Raidan knew his name, so did that make him a fan? The idea of having fans was enough for him, so he headed over to the eccentric nutjob who was working out in his business clothes. Who even does that?

"Hey," he called while waving the tickets and trying to get Raidan's attention, "just in case you wanna come and watch, here's a couple tic-"

"Monster, get over here!" His coach was on the other side of the gym, waving him over in his perpetually angry fashion.

"Whoops, gotta juice!" He quickly left the tickets with him and went off to his next regime.

Mister Monster Guy

Raidan was doing his pushups when Monster came over. Normally his concentration would've prevented him from noticing Maurice, but he was about done and was ready to head to the nearby treadmill. He looked over at the blue haired man, waving tickets to the upcoming fight as he walked over. He was going to say hello, but then something caught Maurice's attention. Raidan looked over and saw a rather pudgy man with an interesting mustache hollering at the young boxer. That must've been Coach Kintobor, the man breifly mentioned in the article with Maurice. Maurice left the tickets on a nearby bench and ran off to the coach. Raidan walked over and picked them up, a small smile on his face. He walked by his Duster, placing the ticket in one of the pockets before walking over to the treadmill, continuing his regimen.

Lacy walked away from the shop, musing to herself about the mechanic. Bless his heart. He seemed to be one of the few honest mechanics left in New York and she believed him when he said he'd take care of her taxi.

Wandering without a destination, she walked merely for the chance to stretch her legs. Ten minutes had passed and she had barely noticed the passing of trees, buildings, cars, and people. Suddenly, she heard a scream erupt from the nearby alley. Cautiously, Lacy approached. Seeing a blonde unleashing a barrage of kicks and punches on an unsuspecting dumpster, she stood there, watching and wondering what exactly happened that caused such a fierce reaction. Blackbeard gripped her shoulder strap tightly, irritated at the loud noises interrupting his nap. What in the hell is going on here?

"Notes rhythm and rhyme..."

Poesi sat restlessly at the edge of the bench, ready to jump up and catch the girl at any moment, should she fall. And for the brief moment that she did lose her footing, the concerned lady flew up with a frightened gasp. Luckily, the strange girl made it up safely, and though she was still concerned, she did seem quite able to tend to herself. Turning to look at the blonde lady, who had clearly upset the girl, she noticed that she had already left. Poesi looked back up at the girl in the tree, hearing her stomach complain loud and clear. ”Maybe you should eat again? I don't know if you have any money, but...” She pulled out a neatly folded twenty dollar bill from her pocket and put it on the bench with some loose change on top, so it would not be taken by the wind. ”There. Go get yourself a treat, okay? I need to get going... It was a pleasure meeting you, young miss.” She made a little curtsey before taking off. Though she felt worried, at least the other woman behind the tree didn't seem to pay much attention to the girl, and the strange blonde had let her be. Poesi felt as if there wasn't much else she could do. She barely knew how to get around the city by herself yet, and she could hardly protect anyone of anything. And the madness of it all was a bit overwhelming. I think I've had enough of the city for today...

Well back in the apartment, she leaned onto the windowsill, looking back at the chaos outside. What am I even doing here? I felt safer back home. And more sane... With a sigh, she went over to her bedroom, falling down at the bed. She felt unwilling to do anything. After all, what was there for her to do here? Poesi sat up again. Reaching for her pen and notebook, she began writing a letter.

'Dear family, I miss you so. This city has no place for me to go. I am lost no matter which way I may turn, and most people aren't showing slightest concern. And as strange as it sounds, I found a girl in a tree. I don't think she could talk, but she wrote to me. It seemed she might have been lost as well. Though I am just glad that she never fell. Yet I wonder if she really will be alright... What if she won't make it home tonight? No, I think it is fine, she seemed quite strong. I'm sure she'll return to where she belong. How I wish the same could be said about me... Save a prayer for me, your dear Poesi.'

Carefully ripping the page out of her notebook, she read it through again. With another sigh, Poesi fold it gently and put in her dresser, along with all the other letters she hadn't found it in her to send. Then she started over...

'Hello dear family, everything's great. Sorry I haven't written so much as of late. I am doing just fine, so worry not. I've just been busy with work and friends a lot. Oh, and thank Grandma for sending that tea. As happy as ever, your dear Poesi.'

Being so busy trying not to notice others so it wouldn't bother her if they were noticing her, sudden sound made the waitress jolt a little with a squeak. She looked up in time to see the young girl climbing back into the tree.

Gypsy went back to studying her sandwich as the other woman spoke. A glance was given as she left money on the bench then left. 'No don't leave money on the . . .' She sighed then looked up at the girl not having missed that stomach growl either.

Cheeks still a bit pink, it took her a moment to get words out but at last she did. "Um, y-you should probably come back down and at least get that." Glancing up now and then, she moved over toward the bench and placed her little bag still containing the half turkey club sandwich on top of the money to hide it. "There's a cafe in that hotel over there," she gestured to it as she spoke. "I-if you want to eat."

Finishing the last bite of her sandwich, she took a few sips of her water. "I need to get back to work, y-you be careful, o-okay?" She didn't speak very loudly, but she couldn't seem to stop herself from saying it. She gave a little smile up to the girl then started heading back in slow steps. She still had time and she was finding it hard not to worry about the girl in the tree.

Luna channeled her fury into each kick, each punch, and she felt it bleed out of her. Her head snapped up and she looked around, trying to find where the voice came from. Seeing a woman with long black hair near the street exit, she blinked a couple times, clearing her eyes of sweat and the tears that she hadn't expected.

"I..." She growled quietly enough that the woman couldn't hear her, then shouted back, "I... I'm fine, yes."

She rolled her shoulders and felt the anger rising once more, and raised a hand to wipe a bead of sweat from her forehead. As soon as it touched her face, she winced and brought both hands in front of her face. Blood trickled down the backs of her palms, and the rage that had filled her suddenly waned, replaced with anxiety. 's**t s**t s**t I'm never going to be able to get these clean!'

She looked back at the woman near the street and was almost able to pull off a smile until she saw the wariness on her face. The smudge of blood above her left eye must be visible, even from there. She looked at her sleeves, the cuffs already covered with tiny droplets from her assault on the dumpster, and sighed. Lifting her arm to wipe the blood from her face, she started walking toward the raven-haired woman, coming close enough to talk without shouting but not so close as to make her more wary. She tucked her bloodied fists into her sleeves, hoping equally to hide them and stop the bleeding, though she knew neither would work.

"I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to disturb you." Her focus shifted to the black creature on the woman's shoulder, its eyes scanning her. "Or you. Truly, I am sorry."

Mistee woke with a start, clinging to the sides of the counter with the shock of realizing she’d been asleep. She looked around to find Barnaby had gone on his way. She couldn’t help but feel worry for the boy. All the strays that came to visit her were like family to her. Well…she just did better with animals. She could talk to them…

She looked at her wrist to see that it was nearly 6:00pm! “Ooooh…” it looks like it was another day of no business…perhaps it was because she didn’t sell cut flowers? She just couldn’t bring herself to kill a flower just to watch it die slowly.

Mistee sighed, slowly standing and made preparations to close her shop…

I’ll know my name as it’s called again

I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears

Lacy glanced back toward the street and the sidewalk, debating about just walking away and forgetting this obviously troubled woman...but taking in the blonde's worn, blood-spattered clothes and her very thin figure, Lacy sighed and took another few steps toward the woman. Aw hell. Looking the woman full-on in the face, she was startled at the striking green eyes in the slender face. "Look, you've got blood all over you, and you can try and hide your hands if you want to, but I've already seen 'em....why don't we find you someplace where you can get cleaned up?"

(You can answer this on your own time since you have something going on with Lunatira.)

It took a few hours, but the taxicab was now fixed, looking like new. Aaron even washed & waxed the vehicle. He felt accomplished & looked at the clock. It was getting close to closing. So he grabbed the card he was giving & went to the shop's phone. He dialed the number & it started to ring.
