Engaged with Wynter Fury and Canaan

Seance wasn't used to pain...it was a strange sensation. But she had to muscle through it - after all her Daddy could be watching. She latched her teeth to the joint between the mare's wing and shoulder and held on. The pain was clouding her vision a bit now, but she tried to ignore it. Strange, shadowy blood began to spill from the wound the grey mare had inflicted on her shoulder.

As Wynter Fury's tail whipped up, it caught in the purple mare's coils. The responded but pushing and wrapping back; locking the mares in a strange kind of embrace.

Canaan's hear raced as the two mares clashed. He should smell blood, and his pulse quickened. Not wasting anymore time, he rushed forward, trying to forcefully wedge himself between the two mares.

Engaged with Seance

There was something seriously wrong with this picture. Wynter Fury gave a grunt of pain as she experienced the biting sensation of having an enemy sink their teeth into living flesh. The experience that she had witnessed before seemed to pale in comparison. The mare could feel something trickling down her side from the area that had been caught between Seance's teeth.

There was puzzlement also as to why she could not yank her tail free from the coils that had wrapped around it. She was locked tightly in battle. The realization that she could not use her tail as a weapon had Wynter panicking for a moment. Her head whipped up as she felt Canaan barrel into her, trying to break the hold that Seance had. Her horns flashed up wildly as she thrashed to aid Canaan's attempts to separate her from the enemy. She felt a curious sensation of flesh being torn before agony washed over her.

Megaera wasn't prepared for the mare to suddenly pivot about and notice her second attack. Her ears flattened and she braced herself for the impact as the two mares were on an unstoppable collission course now. Instead, she curled her wings protectively away from the blow and whipped her fiery mane, hoping that that would catch the attacking mare and - distract her at worst or burn her at best, regardless, hopefully deflecting and lessenign the impact.

But as she whipped her head around, she caught sight of something that made her stomach drop like a stone. Legion had changed targets to a newcomer. One that was hauntingly familiar to Megaera.

She hadn't seen her since she was a tiny, tiny foal, and gone to live with her parents. Calliope. Her daughter.
"No..." she whispered, voice catching in her throat.

Suddenly, the full context of the situation made it through Megaera's thick skull. THIS was the herd that two of her children had gone to live with. This was where the flutter, Azure, who had confused and seduced her lived.

They were attacking her family.

Not caring in the least about the mare seeking to do her harm, Megara, screamed towards Legion, "LEGION! NO! STOP!" Her voice sounded hoarse and ragged in terror as she hoped to pull away from Stormfall.

Inferum had shifted targets to the spotted angeni, in an attempt to keep him away from his more slightly built mother. He didn't move to attack with hooves; instead, going to slam into the side of the stallion to body-check him, knock him back and out of the way, and if he was lucky, hopefully do better and knock him from the skies or knock the wind out of him.

But while his mother was circling around to make another attack against the mahogany alicorn, the mare turned and flew straight for her. Right - as it seemed, something else had caught her attention. It was too late to stop her. He was too far away and he had already concentrated most of his efforts against the angeni. But he bellowed in fury and now shifted targets back to the alicorn. It seemed she was the real threat here.

"LEAVE MY MOTHER ALONE!" He bellowed as he plummeted downwards towards the mare.

Barghest only risked a quick glance back, noting with a snarl of distaste that at least the non-clawed mare was in pursuit of him, and was not so willing to just let him tuck tail and run. The quick descent had caught them off guard and given him some distance, but they were recovering. But there were more important things right now. Outmaneuvering her and, as he looked back to the glowing stallion . He didn't have to read an omen to tell that he was about to unleash something that couldn't be good on Firestorm. The dizzying heights that he had climbed to was hopefully going to come in useful as the pair were still below him. He pumped his wings, the twin 'ravens' carrying him to take a position right above the glowing angeni and then, he pulled them into his sides, once again dropping rapidly.

And before Thunderbird could clash with Firestorm, a great winged canid dropped down unexpectedly on him, paws striking him on the shoulders and flanks, riding him down towards the ground.

The crackling energy seemed to have softened the blow and prevented Barghest's claws from penetrating, but still, the force was enough to knock Thunderbird off course and send them both moving groundwards.

Twenty meters... ten meters... Thunderbird's anger was manifest around him in the crackling holy light as he barreled towards his estranged brother - the usurper - the traitor. Thunderbird was not a violent soquili, but this enemy not only represented a true threat to the herd and was likely the one responsible for this attack. He had warned him before - and they had made a mistake when they let him escape with his life last time he had tried to challenge the herd for control. There was something truly evil that had wormed its way through the alicorn's being, and Thunderbird felt no hesitance about doing what needed to be done.

But his holy light had a drawback. He was so focused and blinded by his own drive that he never saw the second attack coming until the beast had landed upon him. The sudden weight of another full grown stallion - even with the force of the holy light pushing back against him - was more than it took to drop him. Years of expert wingmanship, however, kicked in and the winds picked up instinctively, his forceful light pressing back on the shape that he could barely get a good look at as his four wings beat furiously to grasp for purchase before they struck the ground.

"Get.... OFF OF ME!" He bellowed, and a charge began to build in the air, setting Barghest's fur on edge.

Firestorm's confidence turned quickly to fear as he confronted the power that was his "brother". He was bigger, more competant since he had seen him last. And last time, Thunderbird had won. All of Firestorm's hate and fury - he could see now - was no match for the fullgrown pureblooded angeni stallion. As he began to glow with a crackling energy that even from this distance, Firestorm could FEEL in the air, his wingbeats slowed. And, for the first time, the thought entered his head.... what if he lost?

And then, out of nowhere, Barghest dropped on him like a rock and sent the pair plummeting towards the ground below. A wild smile flashed on Firestorm's face as he flew to pursue the pair. But even as he chased, he could see that the angeni was starting to get the upper hand. It was quickly sinking in to Firestorm that he could not best Thunderbird. As much as he hated that notion, as much as it brought the bile to his throat.. He wanted him. Wanted him broken beneath his hooves. Wanted to offer his heart to Kalona himself in an offering - to PERMANENTLY sever all ties of his blood to his parents and his weak wind heritage.

That's when he heard it. A familiar voice crying out in pain and anger. His cocky older sister Maelstrom.

He angled and flew down to find her facing off against one of Taraxippus's soldiers - a wingless stallion and one he wouldn't have barely given a second glance with a dusky brown fur with rainbow skulls on it. His bony horn was embedded deep in her shoulder.

She wasn't Thunderbird, but she was the next best thing. The firstborn of Balrog. A product of him and his mate, Stormwild. One of the "strong" ones. Hatred burned in his eyes again as he drew his large wings in close to his body and landed - HARD - on top of her as she was fixed in place by Xibalba's horn. He heard a crunching noise as he landed on her back and she crumpled beneath him.

For Megaera & Infernum

Stormfall closed fast on the fiery mare. It seemed as if her attention was firmly diverted by possible newcomers. The mare seemingly was too distracted to deflect her oncoming attack. It was going to be a painful collision and Stormfall was up for the challenge. She narrowed her eyes and prepped herself for impact. It was coming in less than ten meters, five meters, and then there it was. The impact from the crash caused Stormfall to spiral away from Megaera. There was a sensation of burning along her neck and glancing back the alicorn realized it had come from the collision.

Staying aloft and shaking her head to clear it Stormfall almost was clear of the battle when something else registered to her senses. The large stallion was bellowing a phrase at her as he plummeted down towards her. There was a growing sense of horror that she would not be able to dodge this sudden attack. All she could do was brace herself for the impact to come.

Now that Seance had Wynter Fury in her grasp, she didn't know exactly what she was doing. She was hardly a seasoned warrior; using only her frenzied desire to impress her father than any actyal combat skills. She didn't release her vice-like grip on the shoulder of the mare, and began to press all her weight down on her, trying ot pin her on the ground.

But then the stallion began to try and wedge himself between the two. She tried to wrap her shadowy tentacles around his throat, but found herself having a hard time concentrating on two different attackers. Her coils did not have the dexterity she wanted, and with a surge of concentration she released the mare from her jaws and she tried to tighten the tentacles around Canaan's neck.

"Daddy watch!" she called, having no idea where Tara actually was. In her mind at least, he was onlooking happily, a smug and proud expression set on his face.

She would make him proud, she would. No matter what.

Canaan felt the tentacles wrap around his neck and he braced every muscle in his body to avoid having his windpipe crushed. He began to backpedal; not so much to avoid conflict but in hopes he could pull the attacking mare off Wynter. He grit his teeth and pulled, even as he felt the blood beginning to restrict. Little dots of color filled his vision and he squeezed his eyes closed, trying to concentrate.

Megaera/Legion

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Something was coming. Suddenly, a huge, hulking white beast was flying towards her. He had many faces, dozens of eyes. He looked like some kind of nightmare - and he was coming towards her.

Calliope was such a delicate, innocent thing. Though one of the oldest members of the Thunderbird Herd, she had a childlike-mind and didn't always understands the complexities of herd politics and the like. She didn't have too many friends, but always tried to be nice and friendly to everyone.

It was unfathomable why someone would want to hurt her or her family. What could they have done so wrong?

Calliope was nearly in tears before the monster even landed his first blow. She didn't know how to fight, she didn't want to fight. She had never even been seriously injured.

But right before the impact, she heard a voice. A scent carried on the wind... something so distant, like a memory or a dream, but also immediately recognizable.

There she was... something deep Calliope's soul registered the dark, flaming mare.

"Mommy?" she uttered, just barely loud enough to hear, right before Legion's jaw clamped around her throat.

Legion either didn't hear Megaera, or he was too far invested to stop in time.

Or he just ignored her. It was hard to say.

But just as she called him for to stop, Legion slammed into Calliope mid-air and clamped his jaws around his neck. He had to use all his muscles to stay in flight - his wings were not very well equipped for fighting - but the little flutter was just as small and helpless as he had hoped.

His tail reached over and latched onto one of her paper-thin wings, trying to rip at the delicate material and make it so that the little thing couldn't fly away.

Some of his body-eyes focused on Megaera coming up behind him. He couldn't answer her, for his only true mouth that could speak was latching onto Calliope's neck, but he gave a deep growl of concern. He didn't crush her jugular - at least not yet. Megaera was his elder and this was about the level of restraint he was able to give at the moment.

Maelstrom's world seem to blossom into red around her as the horn lanced through her shoulder. It almost sounded as if someone else were screaming, if it weren't for the fact that her own throat was raw with the bellow of rage and pain that emitted from it.
Blood still ran freely from her scalp wound into her eyes as she tossed her head, goign to backpedal and trying to remove herslf from the deep puncture to her shoulder. She was just bringing her wings up to get away from the unworthy stallion who had brought her so much pain when ...
CRUNCH

She heard more than felt the impact as blinded and deafened by her own screams, she never saw Firestorm coming. He landed hard on her back, dropping her to the ground.

Everything felt slowed. Her entire being felt nauseous and distant as she realized that she couldn't feel her legs. craning her neck up weakly, and the blood just now slowing its flow so she blinked blurrily at the black and red figure above her. Her first thought was confusion - that it was her father that had brought her so much harm, but then the figure resolved, the shining horn on his head and the twisted expression.
"Firestorm...." she croaked weakly.

Like a rock from the skies, Firestorm landed before him right on top of the mare he had lanced. Surprised, Xibalba took a few paces back. The driving impact that sent Maelstrom to the ground also succeded in dislodging the stallion's bony horn.

"You arrive like de spirits demselves, Firestorm." Xibalba said eerily as he looked down at the mare before him. He knew enough that it seemed like her spine was crushed, and it was probably only due to sheer force of will that she was still conscious.

Callously, the stallion leaned down and plucked a feather from her wing. It would carry with it great magic, with the method it was taken.

"She's mine now." Firestorm said in a tone that did not invite argument.

Xibalba nodded, his eyes traveling skywards to see Barghest collide with a glowing ball of soquili that was heading their way, and another mare in hot pursuit.

"Be dat as it is." Xibalba answered as he watched, "Looks like de spirits be brining me anoder fight."

"CUR!" Stormcloud hurled an insult at the fleeing form of the dog, "Coward!" She shouted as he ran. This showed the true colors of their attackers. They may look like monsters, but they were weak and lacked the mettle to stick to the battles that they had picked.

She pumped her wings, in hot pursuit, though the dog's tactic of letting himself fall before catching himself had given him a head start.

But it would not matter. She was a force of nature in the skies. She flew after him, deftly angling and arcing. But when she saw him attack another - her MATE - her fury boiled over and she screeched a whinny of rage. She had every confidence in the capabilities of Thunderbird, but she would not stand by idly.

She was still meters away when the dog landed on him like a wolf springing on a deer. She arced in closely and went to grab one of his wings between her fanged teeth, tugging backwards.

The winged eye fluttered helplessly under her hoof - its free wing flittering and fluttering, but gaining no purhase. Psyche felt like she could have stared at the strange little monstrosity for hours. But the sounds of cries and shouts were reaching her ears and reluctantly she lifted her head, glancing back to the struggle that she had flown from not very long ago. Her mother and brother were there, battling the raging mare who this strange creature seemed to belong to.
At first the fire, the blood, the shrieks and cries were enthralling - every bit hte battle and war she had hoped to see. visions to inspire dreams for months to come. But the reality was quickly settling upon her shoulders...

She watched as an oddly familiar filly was set upon by her half-brother. She heard Megaera scream. Mother... .brother... sister...

And the tenacious mare refusing to let Megaera go.

No.

No no this wasn't supposed to hapen.

Psyche wasn't as slow thinking as her mother, or as uncreative as her brother.
Even if she wasn't quite as violent as her family... This was something she could do. She snatched up the little creature again and sailed back towards the group.

"EY YOU!" She shouted at the alicorn around a mouthfull of the flittery-thing's wings. "Leh 'er GO! ER I 'ITE DOWN ON DIS TING!"

"You're damn right I'm never leaving this place," Lamia said with a deranged smile as she charged, "This herdground will be OURS!" And with her declaration, she sank her teeth - not her hooves - into Cataclysm. But as the mare braced herself and turned her broad side towards her, it made it difficult to find an area small enough to latch onto. Initially aiming for the mare's neck, she now bit down on the most ourward part of her wing - which was more flight feathers and less muscle.

She sneered. This was already an older, tough mare. And worse - feathers, not blood.

Her grasp was not secured when Cataclysm reared, successfully knocking her back. But Lamia clenched her jaw, hoping to pull her down to the ground with her.

Pooka showed a brief flash of disappointment as she circled, half-hopping - around Flurry and miracles of miracles, Frost somehow made it past her one-soquili ring. "That's now how you play the game!" She shrieked as he pressed against his sister comfortingly. "You're not playing right!" She continued.

That's when Frost stopped playing altogether. She had expected words. Expected fun. Expected at the very least some sizing up and more mindgames. What she got was a hoof to the head from the no-nonsense stallion.

Pooka was crazy. Pooka was intimidating. Pooka was not very tough. She crumpled and fell flat on the ground, knocked out.
